    Good. Why don't you spend more time and money there then instead of Iraq?

    From a Jan 31st 2008 TIME magazine article:
    * "Even the senior Republican on the panel, Senator Richard Lugar, found the Administration's claims wanting. "I'm not sure that we have a plan for Afghanistan," he said."
    * "Long seen as the "forgotten war" eclipsed by Iraq in U.S. priorities... three independent reports concluding that without a change in U.S. policy there, the erstwhile sanctuary of Osama bin Laden would remain a failed state."
    * "After spending $25 billion over six years to try to defeat the Taliban... the Taliban is now setting off more bombs... killing more Americans"

    Yeah, hearing loss, mutilated limbs, and traumatic brain injuries are so romantic.

    Many soldiers join to be part of some romanticized mission of the army. Not exactly sure what is so shocking about his comment. It benefits everyone if soldiers have a certain level of accomplishment and pride in what they do. Of the marines I know (2 in Iraq, 1 in Afghanistan), they are very proud of what they are doing.
