- bitfreak, on 10/07/2008, -1/+17I guess the village does not, in fact, want their missing idiot back.
- magus_melchior, on 10/07/2008, -0/+11Great, so Bush's hometown paper is saying they can trust Obama.
Now can they and other conservatives put out the figurative fires that Palin and the hard-right are setting? - phroztbyt3, on 10/07/2008, -0/+11Agreed completely. I want our troops home too,but its unfeasible at this point. Go to do what was originally planned, finish.. come home.
Even conservatives are for Obama, I just want this to end. - bitfreak, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8I am not happy about, nor in support of, the bailout. But we are not in a fascist economic system. Try again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism We don't even come CLOSE to that definition. How many industries, by SEC code, are doing so bad they will need the bailout? Do you even know how many codes there are?
GE just reported an solid quarter. Manufacturing is up. Notes are more favorable to solvent companies than they have been in a very long time. Go look at Bloomberg.
The bottom line is, companies that have been conservative and managed their cash well are doing fine. Companies with poor leadership and risk takers, are in trouble. As it should be. The same is true with 'Joe Mainstreet'. If you managed your finances well, and didn't bite off more than you could chew, chances are you'll be fine.
God help you if you have an ARM and need to refinance with anything less than gold plated credit. - NYConcepts, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Ummmm...I don't think Bush is allowed to visit his hometown anymore.
- phroztbyt3, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Well.. confederates first have to see Black people as PEOPLE... then maybe.. in another hundred years they'll vote for someone else.
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -0/+2Looks like the Palins Really were involved with terrorist!
The Palins' Secessionist Group Was Supported By Iran!
The entry links to a Salon.com article that talks about how Todd Palin, Sarah's husband, belonged to a secessionist group, the Alaskan Independence Party. Iran, the sponsor of terrorism, also sponsored the founder of the Alaskan Independence Party to speak before the United Nations in 1993.

Unless you mean he currently resides there, in which case I guess "home town" might still have the same meaning...
Bush ruined TX's reputation. - PHiZ187, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Lots of Christian, dog-whistle, codewords in this one. But used for good.
- PHiZ187, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Well to be fair, you guys did elect him Governor, giving him a stepping stone to the national stage... Don't try to blame him on CT, we don't want him :P
- PHiZ187, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Conservatives are a good start, but I want him to make inroads so far to the right that we start seeing confederates for Obama, hahah.
- acroyear2, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Bush AND Lieberman born there. CT owes us all an apology.
- brandita, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2In Obama We Trust
- lynchjos, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2These johnny-come-lately's really offend me. They're like a pack of rats abandoning their sinking ship. Granted, better late than never, but these people who voted for Bush, not once, but twice, did so with WIDE OPEN EYES. If they couldn't see the facts that were so abundantly available, I just can't respect them.
America needs to remember this period of time when journalist and pundits failed us and never repeat it again. - charm803, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Although no one knows what kind of President Kerry would have been, I'm sure the paper feels some sort of vindication.
If they had supported Bush back in 2004, their opinion might not have been taken too seriously in 2008. Can you imagine if they had? Who would trust THEM?
Now, they can literally say "I told you so."
Although Texas is a red state, I hope Obama manages to turn it into a close one! - thegreenspanput, on 10/07/2008, -3/+3"So, how’s that free market economy working for you"
we don't have a free market economy, hence the so-called "crisis".

oh, and by the way, "how did the Soviet State ever come to grief"
http://www.mises.org/journals/aen/Aen_wi96.asp - jimmyobama, on 10/07/2008, -1/+0Wow, to see someone other than President McCain tied to Bush...that's scary.
- EustaceTilley, on 10/07/2008, -4/+1Maybe you should have gotten a FIXED RATE
its almost like there is some kind of risk to investment - bryanedds, on 10/07/2008, -11/+4If by "free market economy" you mean "fascist economic system"... With the passage of the bailout, America is now more socialist than China. And yet "free market capitalism" - which has been outlawed since 1913 - takes all the blame.
Economic illiteracy strikes again...
I guess we'll just keep repeating the same mistakes until we finally learn. Not much else I can say other than http://www.mises.org
