- Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -19/+582So we're invading Albania next, I take it?
- kooft, on 10/11/2007, -11/+414Oh, dammit. The timetable for withdrawal is all shot to hell now...
- gulpy, on 10/11/2007, -30/+303No matter, he probably didn't know how to read it anyhow... it didn't look digital.

- 1ncontrol, on 10/11/2007, -21/+248How fitting.
Opinion polls like this one: http://avanoo.com/renegade/main.zoo?m=q&rq=9609 show that 90% of respondents disapprove of Bush's foreign policy. In the one single country where people still love Bush somebody steals his watch.
Is that irony? I don't even know. - OpticalLiam, on 10/11/2007, -6/+217I can see it being up on eBay in a few days...
"100% GENUINE President Bush's Watch BUY NOW" - KibibyteBrain, on 10/11/2007, -13/+201Come on, he wouldn't have gotten the full "trip to Albania" experience if he didn't get at least his watch ripped off. It would be like going to the Netherlands without smoking some.
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -15/+155Watch the tape carefully. He sticks his hands in the crowd the first time, and when he pulls them away, he still has the watch on. By the time his hands are within reach of people again, the watch is already gone. No one, other than SS agents, are close enough to touch him between the last time you can see the watch, and the first time you can see it missing.
If I had time, I'd break it down to frame by frame screen grabs. Since I don't: watch carefully. He still has his watch on when he pulls his hands away from the crowd the first time.
I'm sure I'll be dugg down for not jumping on the "lol, bush got his watch stolen" bandwagon. I think Bush is an idiot just as much as the rest of you. But let's stick to using things like his asinine foreign policy to prove that point, rather than petty crap like this. - glasnostic, on 10/11/2007, -21/+160Not surprisingly, the Whitehouse is claiming the watch wasn’t stolen and that it was taken off to keep it safe. It’s almost as if they are compulsive liars.
- FloppyLlamaDigg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+116I'm surprised all those people were allowed so close to him..

George W.Bush's Watch - endlessraining, on 10/11/2007, -9/+83At least the watch didnt belong to anyone important.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -25/+89Worst. President. Ever.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+46I LIVE IN ALBANIA SO MAYBE I CAN GIVE SOME INSIGHT.
This whole lie started after some smart-ass at a small tv station, "News 24" a cheap EuroNews wannabe, noticed Bush's watch was missing after the camera could see his left hand again (the view got blocked for a few seconds by an agent standing on his right). Being a small station in need of fame and money they immediately made up this story as a last minute "news".
Later that evening Albania's most powerful TV station (by far), "Top Channel", analyzed the video for 10 minutes complete with zooming and the actions that led to the outcome.
The truth is that the watch was removed by another agent, the one standing on his left. The agent consulted with the president who retracted his hand from the crowd, took off the watch and then Bush touched the crowd again. When salutating Albania from the Air Force One before his departure, you could see the watch back on his wrist.
And "News 24" did not even dismiss their lie, much less apologize for the damage they caused to the nation's name. They simply did not mention it again.
Quoting Ice Age 2:
Manfred: Come on. Don't listen to him. Fast Tony would sell his own mother for a grape.
Fast Tony: Are you making an offer? - Ungh, on 10/11/2007, -11/+47You spamming little prick!!!
- sjl127, on 10/11/2007, -18/+52Tony Snow is a ***** liar. Like the rest of them.
TONY SNOW DENIES: 'No, it was not [stolen]. It was placed in his pocket, and I believe your network has actually looked through the tape carefully and has ascertained the same. But, no, the President put it in his pocket, and it returned safely home.' - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+35There's no mystery about the watch. Why, it simply disappeared. Now, let's have no more curiosity about this bizarre cover-up.
- maiku00, on 10/11/2007, -12/+39INACCURATE. Debunked tonight on NBC's nightly news(and probably elsewhere). Bush took the wash off himself and put it in his pocket.
- cell00, on 10/11/2007, -8/+31merreborn, you're absolutely right. Would have been really fun but Bush did not get his watch stolen.
Buried as inaccurate I guess. - gcauthon, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23http://www.reuters.com/news/video/videoStory?videoId=56515
This video clearly shows the point at which the watch vanishes. You can see where he starts to put his arm behind his back with the watch on. Then you can see the secret service guy behind Bush visibly fumbling with something. Then when Bush pulls his arm back out in front the watch is clearly gone.
So... the secret service guy stole it and then tried to blame the Albanians! Clever bastard. - Pseudorious, on 10/11/2007, -6/+25This has been both denied and debunked with photos by Reuters and with video by ABC.
I guess you're just not as clever as Bush. - viktro, on 10/11/2007, -11/+29It was not stolen, he took it off and put it in his pocket. They just talked about this on MSNBC and showed the video that clearly showed him take it off and put it in his pocket.
- 10001110101, on 10/11/2007, -11/+28No no no.. Didn't you hear Tony Snow? He put it into his pocket.
(It's a good thing that I've held my belief in suspension since 2001.. Otherwise, I'd have a hard time believing that he was able undo his watch and stick it in his pocket in the 2-3 seconds you couldn't see his hand) - Ductapemaster, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Ugh, bad visual...
- ZWarren69, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18I was thinking the same thing. They apparently got Bush confused with someone cool.
- merreborn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15If you watch the video closely, you'll see he still has the watch on after he pulls his hands away from the crowd the first time. If you could watch it in frame-by-frame slo-mo, it'd be obvious as hell.
This video has a freeze frame on two critical frames:
http://www.reuters.com/news/video/videoStory?videoId=56515 - unknownpoltroon, on 10/11/2007, -7/+21They don't show the careful screening process that selects only loyal public servants and members of the local "We love the shrub" club. Not to mention the metal detectors, and sniper support. Come on, they don't let republican congressmen get that close to him, never mind the "Albanian public". Hell, unless you're a campaign donor, you get shunted off to a "free speech zone" here in the U.S.
- arTech, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14I just saw Countdown and they showed it from another angle. Bush took his watch off his wrist and put it in his pocket. This story has just been officially dumped.
- jab46, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15Time for George to move to Albania, they seem to like him!
Why, I don't know? - chris9902, on 10/11/2007, -7/+17Those secret service guys are getting fired.
- FunkyNuts, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13Well believe it, dumbass, because NBC News just showed the video from another angle (i.e., right next to Bush on his left), and you can clearly see he took it off and put it into his pocket.
- zadadka, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13"...where's my ticky-ticky thing gone...?.."
- adriyel, on 10/11/2007, -6/+16I really don't like Bush, but surely you can do some more intelligent bashing than "photo op sheeple"
Pffft.
Anyway,
it's not that the albanians like Bush, they just like Americans and anything from America. Even Bush. - EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -8/+17It's hard to tell, but it looks like there's one frame where I can still see the watch (after the Pres goes to the right-side crowd and after he looks down). It looks like the bald guy puts his hand on the President's forearm and slides down toward the wrist. And after that, I don't see the watch at all.
Who knows? Sure, he could have dropped it or put it away. Would the WH admit if a thief got that close to the President? I don't know. But it could have happened to anyone if it did. It's not a big deal, but interesting to watch. - imacashew, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13links or it didn't happen...don't ruin my dream
- FunkyNuts, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12Good Lord you guys are desperate. NBC news just showed the reverse angle from another camera, and the video shows he clearly took it off to prevent it from being stolen. Of course any evidence to prove it will be buried here in this leftist paradise.
- LaueOfficer, on 10/11/2007, -6/+14Right there next to him telling him to GTFO.
- chicagobiker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9"Foreign nations that have a limited English-speaking population and restricted access to unfiltered information, at least."
Or the one that Bill Clinton liberated from their fascist dictator. They don't love Bush, they love the USA because we helped them become free from their dictator.

When digg gets a picture section get rid of the video section because it gets no love. - chicagobiker, on 10/11/2007, -6/+13It's not him, it's "us". America. We saved them from genocide. They are forever greatful.
See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosovo_War - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8HIS WATCH WAS NOT STOLEN... I saw it on the news today. They had a camera from a different view which showed Bush taking off the watch and putting it in his pocket.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8No, we just have a lot of respect for the US here. You saved our country in 1998 after the country had fallen for the 3rd time into anarchy in that decade alone, we had no army at all, Serbia was slaughtering Kosovo, Greece was trying to detach south Albania and Europe wasn't giving a ***** for what was happening here. The coming of the american forces was not only indispensable for Kosovo, but also stabilized Albania itself since the opposities party was not going to try again a coup d'etat with the US marines and all the refugees here and the people living in poverty actually saw some hope (yes, just the presence of the West heightens our hopes and calms us down, funny).
- Rodman930, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8The real story here is that Bush can't even deny getting his watch stolen without being called a liar.
- mok000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6You are all wrong. The video clearly shows the president stealing watches from the crowd and putting them in his pocket.

There's nothing so absolutely clear about that video. And I said it was hard to tell, so what the ***** is your problem?
And would you care to back up your statement about "reality" with any actual examples? I doubt you will. -
