- wreckosaurus, on 10/23/2007, -1/+105I can understand opposition to abortion, I don't agree with it, but at least I can understand where they're coming from. But being opposed to contraceptives? That's just ***** retarded.
- incendiarylvr, on 10/19/2007, -3/+97So let me get this straight- We shouldn't use birth control. Or have abortions. But didnt the Bush administration just veto a bill that would have provided health insurance to thousands of American children? Protect the fetus, screw the children?
Thats sounds logical. If your a religious right wing nut job. - inactive, on 10/23/2007, -4/+88Ignorance isn't bliss, it's dangerous. She's just another religious extremist hack being pushed for a position she isn't qualified for.
- SheilaNoya, on 10/19/2007, -2/+85IDIOTIC LOGIC OF THE REPUBLICANS:
- If we stop teaching sex education and we prohibit condoms, then our kids will never get STDs or become pregnant.
- If we just tell teens not to have sex, then they won't do it anymore.
- Being gay is evil, unless you're a Republican Congressman, Church Leader, or the Vice-President's daughter. - AnnaRoots, on 10/23/2007, -3/+51I don't even know what to say about this. Women's heath issues aren't human health issues? please.
- hawkeye17, on 10/18/2007, -2/+30Another hack nominated by Bush for an important job....go figure. Bush's picture is much more likely to show up in the Dictionary next to the word "incompetent" than ever showing up on a piece of US currency.
- Bahimiron, on 10/19/2007, -0/+25Gays should be the ultimate conservative ideal. I mean, they never need to get abortions.
- FyreGoddess, on 10/18/2007, -4/+26You know, this isn't about "Republicans", this is about cronying and pandering, which has no party affiliation.
This is George Bush, once again, bringing on his friends or people he owes favors to. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone after (to name only two) Michael Brown and Harriet Myers. It's a frat boy mindset that guides Bush into thinking that qualifications simply do not matter, it's all about whether or not you're a good enough friend to deserve it. - pintomp3, on 10/18/2007, -2/+23getting rid of abortions and contraceptives to reduce premarital sex is about as effective as getting rid of toilets to reduce *****.
- NSMike, on 10/18/2007, -2/+20And the Iraq War? What culture is that a part of? If it's not part of the "Culture of Death" then hell, I don't know what is.
- brandizzle, on 10/18/2007, -2/+19Stupidity has no political affiliation.
- izzybr, on 10/19/2007, -4/+21Unfortunately it's all these ***** retards who vote. Which is why gay marriage was such a 'big issue' in the 2004 election
- alex1015, on 10/18/2007, -1/+18Weren't more people executed in Texas with Bush as Governor than ever before? Or does that not count as a culture of death?
- godzillaWax, on 10/19/2007, -1/+17That long ago?
- smacksaw, on 10/18/2007, -2/+18Republicans are such hypocrites. War and the death penalty are not part of the culture of death but abortion and contraceptives are?
The sad thing is that they can take a concept like personal responsibility and the value of human life and ***** it all up with idiots like this.
You wonder why we can't have an intelligent talk with feminists about abortion and it's effect on people other than the woman carrying the child? Morons like this scare them *****, and with good reason. No wonder they won't budge and support garbage like partial-birth abortion. They know if they give an inch these nazis will take a mile. - AJH16, on 10/18/2007, -0/+16@Wreckosaurus
I agree completely with you wreckosaurus. I hate that people who share my views that it is best to wait until marriage to have sex are so opposed to contraceptives. It does nobody any good to not be well informed about them. Even if you are encouraging kids to wait, they should be made aware of what is out there incase they decide to go ahead anyway, or even if they do wait, they should know about contraceptives for when they get married. - brstilson, on 10/18/2007, -3/+19I think we should seriously consider restricting the right to vote to only those who can answer a few simple questions about current events. That way, all the stupid nutjobs who don't know the name of the Vice President and think Saddam had something to do with 9/11 don't get a chance to ***** our country up worse.
- SickMonkey, on 10/18/2007, -5/+19People would like to think Ron Paul is a "Libertarian", but he is not. A true Libertarian would be against any and all forms of government regulation of birth control (and abortion) because they recognize that it is a personal decision and not one that should be legislated by the government.
Paul also claims to be a strict Constitutionalists, but he is opposed to the separation of church and state which is clearly stated in the Constitution. Of course the Paul supporters out there just stick their fingers in their ears and put on their rose colored sunglasses when presented with this information. - Bahimiron, on 10/18/2007, -1/+15From what I hear, you'd probably be more of a serial killer. :(
- Acewrap, on 10/19/2007, -4/+17...but it leans heavily republican.
- Bahimiron, on 10/18/2007, -1/+13Sacrificing people on top of a pyramid by carefully flaying their skin so it all comes off in one piece to a god who is depicted as having a skull face and wearing a necklace of ears. That's a culture of death.
Contraceptives are part of the culture of the sane. - bowens44, on 10/18/2007, -3/+15A conservative is someone who believes that life begins at conception and ends at birth.
- Jwoey, on 10/19/2007, -3/+15That's largely because he feels like almost everything should be left up to the states.
- mlostracco, on 10/19/2007, -1/+13No child left behind. In a Kleenex.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -3/+14Oh, you got it straight. ;-)
- MJG2007, on 10/18/2007, -2/+13Yeah....and making people wear seat belts causes automobile accidents. Right?
- waynemr, on 10/23/2007, -1/+11I AM SICK OF THE ***** AMERICAN TALIBAN! ***** THEM!
- Kpeanut21, on 10/18/2007, -2/+12Hmm... it sounds like you have no idea what you're talking about. I think this is one situation where benchmarking against other countries programs might offer some insight. Take Sweden for example - Sweden, radically changed its sex education policies in 1975. "Recommendations of abstinence and sex only within marriage were dropped, contraceptive education was made explicit, and a nationwide network of youth clinics was established specifically to provide confidential contraceptive advice and free contraceptives ... Over the next two decades, Sweden saw its teenage birth rate fall by 80 per cent." Sexually transmitted diseases, in contrast to the rising rates in the UK and the US, declined by 40% in the 1990s. I know its a little old but its the only FACTUAL evidence I could find in about a minute through google. Link to full story: http://education.guardian.co.uk/schools/comment/st ...
- toasty168, on 10/23/2007, -0/+10i'm actually used to the bush administration... i've seen it all before. looney tunes. bush is elmer fudd but looking for tewoowists.
- Bahimiron, on 10/18/2007, -2/+11Time and time again it has been proven that abstinence-only education does not prevent kids from having sex. It just means that when they do have sex, they're far less likely to use a condom.
- omnithought, on 10/23/2007, -0/+9No, a Culture of Death is telling people in the middle of an AIDS epidemic that condom use is wrong and sinful, thereby indirectly murdering them. This is one of the many reasons why religion is dangerous.
- MacEnvy, on 10/19/2007, -2/+11Maybe not, but one certain political affiliation certainly is chock full of stupid.
- camaroz06, on 10/18/2007, -0/+9Damn, what can I say besides what an really, really......REALLY, dumb female assbag. Yes lets tell health plans not to cover birth control, that way health care costs can accelerate faster. Not too mention some people love to have sex but just are not supposed to be parents, those people should be on permanent birth control (male and female).
Just so many things wrong, but with that being said there is nothing wrong with teaching abstinence as part of a sex education program. Should not be abstinence only but it should most definitely be part of a whole program that includes use of the most effective contraceptives (pulling out doesnt count!). - DeeBlackthorne, on 10/23/2007, -0/+9Abstinence-only programs push even worse results. Sex education is successful because it's putting the information out there. It's when you get into the BS about overestimating the failure rate of condoms, not telling how to use them correctly, not talking scientifically and medically about menstruation, that kids start getting led astray. I couldn't trust my own mom to give me the sex talk -- she was way too shy -- but if I didn't look it up and ask questions, I might be really screwed.
I think I could tolerate this better if Bush would admit that he needs morons comparable to his own level in order to fortify his warped thinking. This lady could be the Magic Mirror in the fairy tales, telling him to keep on keepin' on witht he dlusion. Anyway, it's probably even more telling that young girls of denigrating religious faith are the same girls who will let guys come knockin' on the back door and, in the eyes of God, they're still virgins. I certainly think that young, young people nowadays are definitely pushing it regarding sexual behavior. I couldn't imagine gonorrhea outbreaks when I was 10, 11. Urges hit harder, strike earlier; and unless parents, teachers, community members, trusted people are really being straightforward about sex, kids are just doin' what they do unchecked. And sticking your head in the sand and shoving a crucifix between your legs ISN'T going to change that. - Godlike, on 10/18/2007, -2/+11So, giving people things that help prevent pregnancy causes it? Yes, yes, thank you republitard. Go back to your hole now and watch a woman die in labor.
- protogenxl, on 10/18/2007, -0/+8Let's remember that this the same administration that gave us a FEMA Chief who was previously Head of the Arabian Horse Association. You guys were actually expecting Competent Appointees?
- TheNamesAsh, on 10/18/2007, -1/+9Except for when he declares marshal law and cancels the 2008 elections thus cementing his authoritarian control over the former United States of America and his face is printed on all currency as our new high chancellor
- SickMonkey, on 10/18/2007, -4/+12He's not a Libertarian then. A true Libertarian believes first and foremost in individual rights and not giving the States even more power to interfere in people's personal lives. Ron Paul is really a Social Conservative parading as a Libertarian.
- Godlike, on 10/18/2007, -0/+8This whole policy is just infuriating... how ***** brain dead and disconnected from modern issues can you possibly be? I really am starting to hate Christians that want to force their ideology on everyone else.
Completely outrageous... I hope you all get to heaven real soon so that the rest of us that are grounded in reality won't have to deal with your ***** anymore.
Second coming? All the Christians being taken up to heaven? I'll have a Coke. - Godlike, on 10/18/2007, -1/+8Nobody thinks that they should be having sex, we just know that they do anyway.
- Frei, on 10/18/2007, -0/+7The fact that journalists don't consistently point out how full of ***** he is when quoting him is very saddening. Any reporter who hears this guy talk about a culture of life or death should inform him about the culture of death he created.
- omegaant, on 10/23/2007, -1/+8So many issues, so little time!! A recent study showed that the abstinence programs in Texas resulted in teenage girls being nearly 30% MORE likely to have unprotected sex - duh! That said, our culture actively promotes sex and sexual identity - how confusing for young people who are trying to sort out truth from fiction... Young girls getting breast implants (!) or growing breasts and beginning their periods at 9 years old due to the hormones in all meat products (!) and god-knows what the same hormones do to growing boys. Viagra, estrogen from birth control, prozac, etc. is now showing up in our water because it is excreted via urine, and these tiny but powerful chemical substances are not filtered out during the purification process. So, we're not talking about normal human beings with the usual teenage drives, but kids influenced from inside and outside by a polluted world. Brittany is a perfect example of a very confused teen - a shell of a person who only identified with her body...on automatic "react" mode...no one home... Not only is Orr oblivious to how insane we are all becoming, but most of us have become numb to it all. These kids need wise guidance from people who know themselves firstly, and who are aware of what we're up against in terms of pollution, military-industrial plans to raise a mindless army, and I'm sorry, but some semblance of spirituality (not religion) does help one to see through all the hype... We have arrived at a materialistic cul de sac and our young people are the saddest casualty. I do tell girls to have abortions. MOST of us should not be having children right now, let alone young kids. Awareness, education, self-esteem, vision - so many kids, so little time!
- JigoroKano, on 10/18/2007, -3/+10It's about power and control. They have to feed the sheep sexually repressive propaganda so that their urges get channeled into something they find more productive.
- dorothys, on 10/18/2007, -2/+8And don't forget the lack of quality education, increased criminalization of behavior, lack of gun control, vast expansion and privatization of prisons and the support for the death penalty -- the combination of which is designed to benefit the rich and powerful while ensuring a vast population of down-trodden with no choice but to spend their lives serving the rich or sitting in jail or on death row.
- octophobic, on 10/18/2007, -0/+6Lycanthropes are still half person!
- Hetman, on 10/18/2007, -1/+7The culture of death. It funny when most politicians talk about the culture of death they take about violence in movies, and abortions, birth control etc. But in reality the culture of death is are military industrial complex. We use billions and billions of dollars making bombs that we are constantly dropping on people. The over 500,000 Iraq civilians that have been killed since march of 2003 are part of the administration real culture of death. Not abortion or birth control.
- spasticjedi, on 10/18/2007, -1/+7I don't know ANYONE who supports abortion. It's a ***** thing to have to do, a terrible thing to have to choose, and the decision to have an abortion isn't an easy one to make.
Most people who "support abortion", as you put it, simply support the right to bodily autonomy, which isn't the same thing at all. - exomni, on 10/18/2007, -1/+7So much for the seperation of church and state.
2008 can't come fast enough. - Nerevar, on 10/23/2007, -0/+6It's amazing how politicians are so detached from the reality in which we live
