- pingudownunder, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Uribe, fair enough. A medal of "freedom" for promoting peace and humanity? Wtf?!? Bush, Blair and Howard should also be awarded a guilty verdict at the International Criminal Court for War Crimes; regardless of whether the US recognises the Court.
Notwithstanding that, their legacy history will be remembered as those who went to war on inaccurate pretences, against the will of their people, and (in the case of Howard and Blair) as a pair of lapdogs who couldn't differentiate between arse-kissing and being a true friend - a cautious ally.
Jacques Chriac, although he did the right thing in this case, unfortunately will just be remembered as yet another French president who had multiple affairs whilst in office. - Halbermunken, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Kill tons of people. Occupy. Enrich yourselves. Receive awards. Good message to the world.
This is the equivalent of the muslim fundamentalists promising those 72 virgins.
Sickening. - sheasie, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Isn't getting the Medal of Freedom supposed to be a compliment ? Getting the Medal of Freedom from Bush is like getting like being publicly "thanked" by a crime Boss. (i.e. not something you would immediately think to be proud of.)
- stonebear, on 01/06/2009, -2/+4Not unlike The First Degree Order Of The German Eagle. Hitler gave them out to particularly loyal foreign leaders. Benito Mussilini got one made of gold and diamonds, and had "Grand Cross" added to it. It was really sweet of Adolph, considering how ugly Benito was even before he was beaten and hung.
