- reuscel, on 02/21/2008, -35/+864In a related story, 19% of Americans are ***** clueless.
- inactive, on 02/21/2008, -19/+38919% approval and yet Congress continues to bend over for this lame excuse of a President. May as well get the impeachment process going and start exposing him for the fraud and criminal that he is.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/21/2008, -13/+300What pisses me off is that tons of that 81% voted for him in the place, and they aren't getting anymore informed about the actual issues this time around. How many people are just repeating lame, irrelevant media talking point ad nauseum, and voting on an uninformed whim.
Democracy is pretty much dependent on a responsible press and an informed public and from where I'm sitting I see neither. - Sporkeh, on 02/21/2008, -22/+262When are we going to impeach this *****?
- TheLoneWolf071, on 02/21/2008, -6/+20519% and only a few month to go?
I'd go all out If I was bush... I'd declare war with other country's, Cut off all foreign ties, listen to peoples phone and internet... oh wait... - theNazz, on 02/21/2008, -26/+146The Bush crime family needs to be strung up like their former hero Saddam.
- mrfreeziexp, on 02/21/2008, -12/+122Way more than 19%, McCain is the republican front runner.
- Drkboarder, on 02/21/2008, -16/+104In other news, the percentage of Americans who believe Jesus is coming back this year has decreased to 19%.
- AshamedAmerican, on 02/21/2008, -6/+80Let's see if he can hit single digits by summer.
Oh by the way does anyone know if this is officially the lowest approval rating for a US President in history? I assume it is but I just wanted to know if anyone knows for sure. - Emnsta, on 02/21/2008, -5/+73And this guy got 8 years in office
- NeonFire, on 02/21/2008, -10/+71Conclusion: 19% of Americans are idiots.
- Diggalickable, on 02/21/2008, -14/+71Not a real popular guy now is he?
- BlueSkyfish, on 02/21/2008, -2/+50"Among Republicans (29% of adults registered to vote in the survey), 45% approve of the way Bush is handling his job and 50% disapprove. Among Democrats (43% of adults registered to vote in the survey), 1% approve and 99% disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job. Among independents (28% of adults registered to vote in the survey), 17% approve and 75% disapprove of the way Bush is handling his job as president."
The two party system ***** up America. - Eiknujrac, on 02/21/2008, -5/+50You joined Digg today, Feb 20th, after being banned multiple times before under different usernames. And over the course of 12 hours, you've managed to make 53 comments which contain the same copypasta and fragrant lies you've been posting for the last month. Do you really have nothing better to do with your life? I've made it a point to not respond to your trolling, but I was just kind of amazed at what a waste of oxygen you seem to be. I will continue laughing at you while you remain on my blocked list.
- Ajajadude, on 02/21/2008, -2/+44That continues to confuse the hell out of me. It's not like an impeachment process would be unpopular or hurt the country anymore than it has been hurt recently. Why the hell is Pelosi &Co. being such chicken ***** about this?
- BlueSkyfish, on 02/21/2008, -3/+43When the government stops being corrupt. Oh wait...
- drizzlelicious, on 02/21/2008, -2/+4019% approval is 19% too high
- Ajajadude, on 02/21/2008, -4/+42I spent many months debating with people who were going to vote for him that second time around. They all thought I knew jack ***** because I was still in college and that Bush was a much better choice than Kerry. They're eating their words now and, sadly enough, I'm not all that happy about it since he truly ***** this country up like I thought he would.
- BlueSkyfish, on 02/21/2008, -1/+34Not enough democrats to override a veto. That's why we're still stuck in this rut.
- Gabberwok, on 02/21/2008, -6/+38They prefer the term "born-again"...
- nicksauce, on 02/21/2008, -6/+36Has an approval rating every been this low for a president? Seriously, I am curious.
- usingpond, on 02/21/2008, -2/+30Compared to Huckabee, can you really blame them?
- saulmora, on 02/21/2008, -1/+28This has to overlap with the 18% of Americans that think the sun revolves around the Earth
- UberNick, on 02/21/2008, -4/+31Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos
- SenorCardgage74, on 02/21/2008, -0/+27Incredibly misleading.
There wasnt ONE SWAN in the whole ***** thing. - skyshock1, on 02/21/2008, -1/+27http://www.ropercenter.uconn.edu/data_access/data/ ...
This list only goes back to Roosevelt, but Nixon and Truman had 23 and 22 percent respectively. And in the interest of historical accuracy, Bush also had one of the HIGHEST approval ratings (92%) at one point in time. My how the mighty have fallen. - diksaw, on 02/21/2008, -2/+28If you put on your glasses you'll see that there's a swastika in place of the stars. It's called sattire.
pwnd. - diksaw, on 02/21/2008, -4/+29Bush has the record for the highest and lowest approval rating...
http://ask.yahoo.com/20051011.html - DrywallThief, on 02/21/2008, -2/+26I was born right the first time.
- daGUY, on 02/21/2008, -1/+25Are you kidding me? He deserves my respect just *because* he's the President? Completely regardless of what he actually DOES?
This is not a simple matter of "I don't care for some of his policies." He has consistently, actively, and frequently broken the law, without question. The invasion of Iraq is completely illegal. Wiretapping millions of innocent citizens without warrants is completely illegal. Declaring anyone an "enemy combatant" and holding them indefinitely without legal recourse is completely illegal. Does none of this matter to you?
How about this - as a citizen of this country, and as someone who still believes in the principles of the Constitution, he can EARN my respect when he starts ***** following it!! - TheSesom, on 02/21/2008, -5/+29Buried for wall of boring.
- carbonetc, on 02/21/2008, -5/+28Bush Declares 81% of Americans Terrorists
- LordBoreal51, on 02/21/2008, -1/+24Unlike other democratic systems, the United States does not have a "vote of no confidence" system for the executive leader. Because of this there is no way to remove a President without going through the impeachment process which is reserved for egregious violations of law.
It's unfortunate really... - nationalist, on 02/21/2008, -2/+24he should declare war with the UN after leaving and see what happens
- AussieFox, on 02/21/2008, -1/+22That's whats wrong with (many) American voters. Too much of this 'Liberal'/'Republican' crap. How about you start thinking for yourself, or is that too much to ask?
- BESTenemy, on 02/21/2008, -1/+21So, it's only worth voting for the ones that are likely to win, according to what media reports? Glad to know issues are of secondary importance to you. Enjoy another re-incarnation of Bush.
- nikkesen, on 02/21/2008, -5/+24Wow... and to think, people compare Bush to Hitler! Bush has this rating after only 7 years... yet Hitler in 1952 still had a 25% approval rating. Bush is too crazy to hang on to most of the fringe.... that says a lot.
- ndnspongebob, on 02/21/2008, -3/+21everyone knows impeaching is the right thing to do
but if the democrats impeach, it can be a blow to them when it comes to the general election
because the whole year, everyone has been focusing on impeaching and all the negative sides to it comes clear
and the democrats look bad because of it
but if they ignore for now and have their candidates show how positive the democrats can be for America, more Americans will vote for them.
I believe no one is impeaching because of the political atmosphere, democrats rather have the next president be a democrat rather than dragging an impeachment along that will ruin those chances - bizkit00, on 02/21/2008, -0/+18and he's not very good at ballet
- inactive, on 02/21/2008, -3/+21"If anyone actually believes that you might want to stop watching so much tv and go read a book or two."
I will. Hold on.
OK, I'm back. I read Harry Potter and the latest John Grisham. Now what? - toastjam, on 02/21/2008, -2/+19To clarify, population size doesn't really have an effect on the confidence. Sample size does, and it varies proportionally to sqrt(p(1-p)/n), where p is the proportion saying yes and n is the sample size.
If the sample size was 1, then you would get sqrt((.81 * (1 - .81)) / 1) = 0.392300905, or 40%. Pretty bad, I agree.
But here, p=.81 and n = 1000, so the margin of error is sqrt((.81 * (1 - .81)) / 100) = 0.0392300905, or roughly 4%. Not terribly shabby. - KevinRoseMustDy, on 02/21/2008, -8/+25This had to be fixed. It should be lower.
- NelsonR, on 02/21/2008, -7/+24Worst President in history while he erects a library for posterity. I hope the outside is covered with rotten eggs on a daily basis while his legacy is bemoaned by future generations. An important item, sympathy with hope and desire for the person who will inherit the presidency. He/She, hopefully He, has a long hard road to recover an America that once was, both internally and externally.
- Memitim, on 02/21/2008, -1/+17For partisans, it's all about picking a side and rooting for it. ***** the present and future of this country, it's all about their team.
- amoirae, on 02/21/2008, -0/+16His pliés SUCK.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/21/2008, -1/+17And again, for those sitting in the back of the room who haven't paid attention...
While Congress as a whole gets low ratings, the approval for a given Senator or Representative remains high enough to get them re-elected (if not higher). Asking a person for an approval rating of congress (nearly all of which the person in question has NO say in electing) without following up with "and what do you think of your representation" makes it pretty darn well meaningless.
It's just brought up by Bush adherents trying to make it appear that their candidate and fearless leader isn't quite as foul-smelling as people might think by comparison. - JoeVet, on 02/21/2008, -2/+17Looks like we found one of the 19%. Congradulations!
- Gazoo2001, on 02/21/2008, -0/+15That you believe that stands to reason, if you are in the 19% that approve of Bush since you yourself must be unable to see the glaringly obvious reasons that the other 81% of people do see.
- DblTap, on 02/21/2008, -10/+2519% is to ***** high.
