It is an indication (and I hope the beginning of a permanent trend) of respect from our government toward its citizens. After 8 years of being treated like mushrooms (i.e. kept in the dark and fed nothing but *****) we are finally able to see facts and debate them as adults.

If he doesn't run a record deficit, from the signed stimulus package and more to come, we are facing a complete economic collapse:Injecting a lot of money into the system is the only short term solution.However, the short term solution could be a medium or a long term big problem by increasing US debt & eventually turning into massive inflation.

US must cut all costs are not absolutely necessary and invest in own country. But Obama must not only get it through lines of Reps, this is problem.
I can only hope with reducing of oil dependence the influence of military to bring oil home will be reduced too and so costs for troops and wars. Somebody should calculate this all into costs of oil. Cannot be companies making profit and country must pay with money and lives.
Yes, it's really like you wrote lack of transparency is reduced. So democracy is coming back. Bush, Cheney and neocons couldn't change US for all time after Sept. 11.
But because of high costs and still running wars i can only put finger in wound again - over 60% US habitants were believing Bush administration was hiding a lot around Sept. 11 and so this must come out to reduce costs must not be and nobody can pay. Criminals must be arrested but costs of wars are too high because wars were and are wrong way.

I still fear Wall Street has too big a finger in the pudding to effect the change necessary. We need to keep the pressure on if we are to see a return to responsible management of the economy.
