- vault, on 02/20/2008, -0/+1Couldn't the same be said for Bill Clinton, considering he didn't serve but then invaded Yugoslavia and went ahead with Desert Fox?
- Insightful, on 02/19/2008, -2/+3McCain's rhetoric and flip-flop aside, at least the man has proudly served his country.
But let's take a look at the brave warrior who calls McCain a "Girlie-Man". Christopher Buckley, who went to a private boarding school ($25-40K a year) and then Yale and was a speech writer for GHW Bush, an editor for Esquire, an author of several books. Oh yeah, he is also the son of the conservative commentator William f. Buckley Jr.
If McCain is a "girlie-man", what is Christopher?
Note that this applies to most conservative warrior chicken hawks. Bill Kristol of New York Times, always blood thirsty but never served his country is the son of Irving Kristol, founder of neoconservatism. Jonah Goldberg, who calls liberal fascists, but is unwilling to serve himself, is son of the famed Lucianne Goldberg. Robert Kagan never found a war he does not like. He was also a speech writer, an AEI scholar, Belgium resident, and never served his country. Oh yeah, he is also the son of famed conservative Donald Kagan.
See a pattern here? These children who grew up protected by their neoconservative parents - they have never had to deal with poverty, racism, war, etc. Yet they get to call you a "girlie-man" because you oppose torture which is against international and American laws and value.
Way to go conservatism.
