/mission accomplished! - TurkP, on 10/12/2007, -10/+103As a former Marine, I was very hurt. When he was pressed for the sacrifices of the American people he did not address our service members and families that have been on the leading (bleeding) edge of this failed mission.
Watching this interview truly saddened me. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+77Since 2000
- thebusdriver, on 10/12/2007, -7/+69Man, I really hope America learns from this presidency.
- allatti2d, on 10/12/2007, -8/+58He did the right thing initially by going to Afghanistan. Then he ***** up by invading Iraq, which by his own admission had NOTHING to do with 9/11.
Asked and answered. - unicornbeauty67, on 10/12/2007, -7/+57Turk, I've got to agree with you wholeheartedly! When Bush was asked about the sacrifices of the American people I honestly thought he would bring up the large number of our brave men and women in the military who have lost life and limb over the past few years. Shame on Bush for not mentioning our veterans and their families!
But for whatever it's worth, I recognize and appreciate your sacrifices!
God Bless our Military Personnel! - unicornbeauty67, on 10/12/2007, -11/+61Had I been president on September 11, 2001, I would have started out by excusing myself from the classroom full of children so I could get back to Washington DC as soon as possible, I would NOT have sat there reading about a pet goat. Secondly, I would have gone back to Washington DC, not fly around in Air Force One for hours, landing here and there and everywhere else. As president it would be my job to make decisions and to let the American people who believed in me know that I was on top of the situation and not running scared. I would have shown strength and made decisions that were necessary to make such as whether airliners should be shot down if they failed to respond to radio calls.
In the following days and weeks I would have had endless strategy sessions with diplomats and military commanders to try to determine the best course of action and I would have listened to what they had to say. I would have kept the House of Representatives and Congress in the loop completely, they would have known what information we were getting and what options we were considering.
Now with everything that we as the public have learned since 9/11, we know that Iraq and Hussein had NOTHING to do with the attacks on us. Bush knew this then. He acted correctly in sending troops into Afghanistan and I would have done the same. I would have sought the approval of the House and the Senate and then sent troops into Afghanistan in search of al-queda and Osama bin Laden.
At the same time as our troops were in Afghanistan I would have used diplomatic measures around the world to rally support for the war on al-queda. In my book, diplomacy is not throwing around threats in the press nor is it demanding that a leader of another country step down from his office (I'm referring to Bush ordering Hussein to step down or he'd invade Iraq next). Diplomacy also doesn't include calling other countries (Iraq, Iran and North Korea) parts of an "axis of evil." Saying such things only inflamed the leaders and citizens of these countries. In using diplomacy, I would have asked for help from these countries in combatting al-queda in Afghanistan and seeking out al-queda in other countries where they might be hiding.
These are the things I would have done had I been president on 9/11/2001 and I think most people with some semblance of intelligence would have done close to the same.
I hope I answered your question thoroughly, feel free to ask me anything else.
God Bless our Troops and their families! - whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -10/+56Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States!
- mikejant, on 10/12/2007, -8/+51My jaw dropped when he said we had been sacrificing by paying taxes. His tax cuts are the only time in recorded history a nation has had tax cuts during war. The arrogance of this man baffles me . . .
- unicornbeauty67, on 10/12/2007, -12/+50I believe that America learned from Bush's first faux presidency, when he was appointed by the Supreme Court. Then this last election his administration had to use dirty tricks in order for him to remain in office such as giving people the wrong polling places, polling places closing early, some votes, many in fact, being either "lost" or just plain not counted! This administration has been corrupt from the beginning!
I hope and pray that our next election can be an aboveboard election, then we will see changes, people will get out and vote for someone who can turn this entire mess around! - unicornbeauty67, on 10/12/2007, -14/+52I just watched the video of this interview of GW Bush by Brian Williams and I've got to say it rendered me speechless! I honestly don't know what to say except Oh my God, this is the man our supreme court appointed to be the president of the United States? No wonder the world hates us! For a good laugh, watch this video!
- TheBowerbird, on 10/12/2007, -8/+46Did anyone else notice Bush's agressive body language? He kept on trying to get in Bryan Williams face, and had a lot of body motions that were like he was trying to assert dominance. It looks like Williams was unfazed though, as he stood his ground.

Sure is a laughable read! Can't wait to watch Jon Stewart tonight... - pmcall221, on 10/12/2007, -8/+41Jon Stewart is on vacation. He will return September 5th.

Who benefited most from 9/11? Halliburton, that's who. - LonnyQ, on 10/12/2007, -5/+33"They key for me is to keep expectations low."
George W. Bush, 2006 - Pile, on 10/12/2007, -12/+35Notice the "sleeve trick"...
Bush always has to have the shortest sleeves when he's interviewed outside... that way it looks like he's doing more work than everybody else around him.
I bet they told the MSNBC guy he was not allowed to roll his sleeves up as high as George. - whiskeymb, on 10/12/2007, -8/+30"ec-i-lec-tic"... brilliant
- Vermifax, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28If I was PotUS on September 11, 2001, I would be going about the daily business of serving the American people and making this country a true world leader (by innovation & example, NOT by fear & threat of force).
I would have been elected President in a fair & untampered Democratic voting process. Cheney, Rove & Rumsfeld would have already been wearing stripes & breaking blocks @ Ft. Leavenworth for past crimes and therefore would NOT be anywhere near my Cabinet.
And, our New York City skyline would be untouched. The WTC would still be there standing proud.
I'm not a globalist. I'm not a failed oil businessman. I'm not a coke-head. I'm not an emperor.
I'm just an American that wants us to be the 'good guys' again... - jdb252, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25When Bush said, "my dad has given me the best gift a father can give a son," I swear to God I expected him to follow that up with, "the Presidency!"
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -8/+29When the ten year old starts a wildfire and thinks its funny, you just don't say "boys will be boys."

Yeah, it wasn't rigged ... it was flat out stolen like an election in Haiti ... - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28Williams looked like he wanted to punch Bush in the face.
- pexor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22"Mr. President, I know how much you love deep psychological examinations of yourself..."
Did anyone else feel that Brian was mocking the president??? - cameronga, on 10/12/2007, -9/+27oh. my. god.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+30What an incredibly arrogant SOB. Yah, Stewart will mop the floor with him, again.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23Our expectations are already at rock bottom, and yet he still consistently fails to live up to them every single time.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -17/+33Bush is a dumbass, what makes the voters?
- waynechng, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21I totally disagree. Eloquence is a trait of a successful and respected leader.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23one of those "crazy" homeless guys could replace this man, and do a better job in the process.
- tj399, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23Honestly, americans have sacrificed and given of themselves for this nation in the form of taxes alone? What a weird way to stay on message.
- Pile, on 10/12/2007, -13/+27Bush's record speaks for itself. He only cares about servicemen that can vote. If they're dead, they're of no use to him. If they've lost a few limbs and are disillusioned and can't protect his caravan and insure that no leftists get near him, they're of no use to him. The administrations policy towards veteran's affairs is atrocious.
With so many people against this president why is the tide not changing? Here's the simple answer:

Because of the Fairness Doctrine. The people will never have a significant political voice ever again, until the Fairness Doctrine is reinstated. Until then, you'll see the news networks report the news they want you to know about, and only that. - deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18It's hilarious how he tries to doge the question about the book he supposedly read. Clearly he didn't and he's desperately trying to lie his way out of it. He's like a retarded 3rd grader who didn't do their homework.
- allatti2d, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18manatee --
I don't think your comment above has much to do with the topic... digg isn't the greatest place for intricate discussions, unfortunately. - rebrane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14So he can authorize unconstitutional searches without a warrant, hold American citizens in military custody without charge, violate the Geneva Conventions... but he's held hostage by the Secret Service who won't let him do his job in a time of national emergency?
Yeah, whatever. He's the decider, remember? - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17Haha, excellent line to remember him by.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16Whenever I see an interview with Bush, it reminds me of those Christopher Guest mocumentary movies (Spinal Tap, Best in Show, etc.) where they just keep talking, pulling stuff out of their butt, to pump up their own egos.
The only difference is, the movies are funny. - Rice, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19I don't know whether to digg up or down on that one.
libtards = bad
cocaine comment = good
Meh, I'll leave it alone. :P
But you are funny. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17I don't think anyone really believes that he has read a book in the past 40 years. Maybe Calvin & Hobbes.
- waynechng, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17I couldn't bear to finish watching the first minute cause it was too painful ... it's like watching live surgery, you just have to turn away when the cutting begins ...
- sawyer3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12this is the ***** i am talking about. and i have posted the same comment(s) in plenty other bush articles here.. why is this marked as inaccurate?? it's a god damn VIDEO! how can anyone deny it's accuracy?? do you inaccurate markers actually think MSNBC went out and recruited a bush look alike!? get ***** real.
it's high time people start speaking their voice, as our country is falling to *****, and no one seems to give a flying *****. many of our inalienable civil liberties are slowly being eroded away by this sheepish *****... and it starts by ***** as simple as a perfectly accurate digg video of our president being a jackass, yet some fanatical bush-lover marks this video inaccurate. bottom line, bush is still a fascist, whether you mark the video inaccurate or not, period. - thusspoke, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16I miss Bill
- allatti2d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Humiliated? Nope.
Embarrassed that ANYONE voted for him more than once? Absolutely.
Enjoying the comedy? More than ever before.
Disgusted than any acting president would behave that way? Of course.
Scared out of my mind that he might play with the wrong buttons someday? Naturally. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Well, it IS hard to polish a turd.
- ccheath, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11how can an interview be innacurate?
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I think the people in this thread are too disgusted and angry at what they have just seen to enjoy your suble humor. thats all.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15It would have been nice if he had at least skimmed over the Constitution once or twice.
I wonder if we could send him the Cliff Notes. - unicornbeauty67, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16@hbomb: "I don't care to know what you would do had you been a President. As a matter of fact, give it a shot, and see if the people will elect you. And by the way, yes, Bush was elected."
***
In response to this I simply say that if you don't care to know what I or anyone else would had we been president then don't read the thread, that's easy enough for you, isn't it? Bush gave running for president a shot and when that didn't work because the people didn't vote for him, he, with his daddy's money and his daddy's lawyers went crying to the Supreme Court and they APPOINTED him president, he was not elected!
***
"The interview itself is not bad either. You do not have to be eloquent to lead the world power. He is no Clinton, but I have a feeling that a lot of people who have posted their comments didn't even watch the interview."
***
In response to the second part of your post, the interview wouldn't be bad if Bush were a 9 year old child or perhaps a trained monkey but unfortunately he isn't either of those, he is the appointed president of the United States of America and when people around the world see what a bumbling idiot we have running our country it causes two responses. The average person views Americans as fools for having this man be our leader and for terrorists it emboldens them when they see our leader as an unintelligent, weak man. - plnegative1, on 10/12/2007, -13/+22I honestly don't see what was wrong with his responses. What stood out to me most was when Bush said something to the effect of, "The key for me is to keep expectations low" which could mean alot more than it does on the surface...
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17The video on that site also left out an important part that was on MSNBC when he said.. "the people down here know that I stood in Jackson Square, and I said we're gonna help you, and we delivered. "
I think the people of New Orleans would disagree with that.. -
