- whatthefu, on 02/09/2008, -8/+48Breaking: the most overused and unnecessary word in digg titles.
- TheWestExit, on 02/09/2008, -0/+23As a Washington State resident aswell, you should know that your absentee ballot means absolutly nothing to the Democrats. They're not useing the primary to decide any of their delegates, it's all the caucus. If you're a Republican it means 51%, the other 49% is the primary.
- DeadElephantORG, on 02/09/2008, -4/+24The elected governor of the next big prize state full of delegates. The people of Washington very likely care.
- heypetray, on 02/09/2008, -4/+24How exactly is this breaking news again?
- franklymister, on 02/09/2008, -1/+19Especially when it's inappropriate, as it is here. "Breaking" implies some ongoing news event that is unfolding as the news breaks. This is just a politician endorsing another politician.
Done.
Not breaking. - vagrantwade, on 02/09/2008, -1/+14"Endorsements from the status quo though. It's about change isn't it?"
Endorsements by elected officals = super delegates = necessary to win the candidacy. Fool. - sobe86, on 02/09/2008, -4/+17HOLY *****, BREAKING NEWS
- Schul983, on 02/09/2008, -10/+21how many more endorsements is it gonna take before people realize that Obama is the answer?
- fakeshapes, on 02/09/2008, -4/+14This cancels out former governor Gary Locke's endorsement of Clinton, in some Washington State circles. Personally, Gregoire's the kind of politician I'd hope Clinton would be, but it's not looking that way. Enjoy the caucus tomorrow! I'll be on Barry's side of the room.
- maiku00, on 02/09/2008, -0/+9contact your senators/representatives if you live in a state/district that voted for Obama. Tell them you expect them to abide by the choice of the constituents they claim to represent.
- venir, on 02/09/2008, -2/+10I am happy to see our Governer's endorsement of Obama, especially considering how many people told her it was a bad idea. I will be caucusing on Obama's behalf tomorrow. Anyone else in Washington get off your butts tomorrow and vote and make sure you are at your caucus location by 1:00pm!
- Hortnon, on 02/09/2008, -5/+13I was at Obama's speech yesterday in Omaha, where the Iowa governor announced his endorsement. The mayor of Omaha also did, and 'allowed' Omaha to be called 'Obamaha'. Good times. :)
- Pyehole, on 02/09/2008, -2/+10Wow. I haven't lived in Washington for three years but I still get angry every time I hear her name. There were simply too many instances of incompetence that cost the state many millions of dollars during her stay in various state government jobs.
I think that anger reflex will be gone now.
Way to go! - trevorjez, on 02/09/2008, -0/+7glad someone is paying attention. i can't tell you how many people i've had to correct on that today.
- Schul983, on 02/09/2008, -2/+9what is he supposed to do, tell them not to endorse him?
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -1/+7Anything but the issues? *****. We've been hearing (and still do) that if we don't vote for paul, the "economy is going to collpase!!" and "we'll be imprisoned in fema camps!!" and "amerika will be turned into a police state!!"
You people are the biggest fear mongers of all. - 0megaMagus, on 02/09/2008, -6/+11HOLY ***** BREAKING NEWS THAT IS TWO DAYS OLD!
- konspence, on 02/09/2008, -0/+5I was just at the rally where she announced her endorsement, and I think this will give him a huge advantage in Washington, where Gregoire is generally respected among democrats. The energy there was so outstanding, it was amazing to see.
- toastybeast, on 02/09/2008, -9/+13w00t!
- OHaloThar, on 02/09/2008, -1/+5You mean you want Clinton to spend millions on a stadium rather than deteriorating roads and metro system? Sounds good!
- pintomp3, on 02/09/2008, -0/+4he's supposed to seek the endorsement of anonymous digg users.
- beankitty, on 02/09/2008, -2/+6Americans who aren't worthless care.
- saska, on 02/09/2008, -1/+5The popular support for Obama is overwhelming in Washington state, but our Superdelegates are squarely in the Clinton camp. Gregoire is a Superdelegate, but she's one of only three openly endorsing Obama.
I was outside Obama's rally in Seattle today (third in line to get in when they shut the doors) and in addition to the 18,000 in the arena, there were at least 3,000 more outside listening to the speech on the PA system. I didn't hear much of anything about Clinton's appearance the night before. Too bad our Superdelegates are probably going to play politics and ignore the public mandate. - inactive, on 02/09/2008, -5/+9You are one to talk, paulbot. For months you guys were submitting stories every time even some no name state legislature politician even mentioned paul's name.
- Pinkertinkle, on 02/09/2008, -0/+3Obama needs to swing the elderly female vote and this contest is over.
- oolatin79, on 02/09/2008, -1/+4Yeah, I'm also wooting for Obama in the primaries too.
although it's pointless here in Washington state since the democratic party "allocates all 78 of their elelcted national delegates through their caucus on staturday" according to the Seattle PI, essentially making voting in the primaries pointless if you're a democrat (unless you had time to attend a caucus)
also here: www.wa-democrats.org/ - RedHerringHack, on 02/09/2008, -4/+7I am a white guy. White and nerdy. I will cross the line and vote for obama. If he kicks ass and takes names. Please don't disappoint me. Hillary is an elaborate magic trick. Don't fall for it. Remember you are watching TV.
- swany1012, on 02/09/2008, -1/+4Dino Rossi should be governor...but we wont go into that :)
- slugicide, on 02/09/2008, -0/+3A: She calls herself Chris.
B: We had caucuses last election, too.
C: The Democratic voters *are* the Democratic party. - proficient, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2AMAZING.
- Shakawkaw, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2I live in Washington and really don't like that chain smoking gag-oire but I do like Obama.
- hydrokool, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2It cracks me up to see people hate on Gregoire. Have you no clue that we're (Washington State) the only state that does not have a completely destroyed housing market, an economy that's doing very well and hiring like crazy (my company can't fill positions fast enough due to competition with other companies hiring too), and much more. Gregoire has done a great job if you look at the pile of crap she was handed while the worst president in our history destroys the rest of the nation. Dino wanted to hand his real estate buddies big bucks to destroy any chance at a realistic housing market. You think housing is expensive now, he'd have made it 3 times as expensive. He's a slimeball salesman.
- Kristnej, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2It was announced today...how is it 2 days old? Traveling time, are you?
- bgfinkel, on 02/09/2008, -2/+4I live in Seattle and I'm really happy. However it's unfortunate she couldn't come out w/ it sooner, the caucuses s being tomorrow...
- tehWhisp, on 02/09/2008, -1/+3I was in that arena today. Skipped school to take a bus down to Seattle with some friends, go there an hour before the doors opened, and still had to wait in a mile long line.
And yet it was definitely not a waste of time. I've never heard a crowd cheer that loud in my entire life. - underdugg, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2This is good news -- especially because so many women are being told to "vote their gender."
Yes, I really heard that one , today -- on NPR's radio program "Day-to-Day." - BigJ4236, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2This shouldn't be seen as anything positive...
As a life long Washingtonian, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that no one except those in Seattle like Gregoire. She has a horrible reputation in this state and we can't wait for her term to end. - pintomp3, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2it breaks hillary's heart.
- Rapter09, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2I don't really think we need to bring race into it. If enough Americans are racist enough to not have Obama elected (Regardless of his stance, vs hillary's -- whatever, the politics don't matter) strictly on the basis of his race, then you lot deserve whatever nutbag president, economic recession, and hardships you get. We're past that stage in human history.
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2This isn't really that big of a deal. Gregoire didn't even really win the election here. If you think Bush stole an election, Gregoire has him beat hands down. She has no chance of bein re-elected.
- pcghost, on 02/09/2008, -0/+2The two parties sued us years ago(the residents of Washington) to take away our wonderful open primary system of the past. They still ask us to vote in the primary to make us feel like we matter. It is sad.
And the unelected Governor can kiss my ass. Dead felons carried the election for Chris Gregoire, who actually was a decent Attorney General, and only after they repeatedly counted the ballots until she came out on top. It was the counter-sham to the 2004 federal election.
While I am voting for Senator Obama anyway, her endorsement means *****. - dubspyracer, on 02/09/2008, -8/+10Way to do us Washingtonians proud, guvnor.
Sadly I can't make it to the caucus tomorrow, but I voted Obama on my absentee ballot. Everyone else here should do the same, if they know whats good for 'em. - 0megaMagus, on 02/09/2008, -2/+3Too bad your vote won't get counted seeing how the Washington Democratic Party only assigns delegates through their caucus.
- bwchambers, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1Governor Gregoire puts out her endorsement of Obama the same day that the Seattle Mariners send George "The Governor" Sherrill (with 4 others) to Baltimore for Eric Bedard. Coincidence? I think not. There's only room for one Governor in this town and she's backing Obama.
- swany1012, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1You obviously have never been to a Seahawks game
- z28com, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1It cracks me up that people love to keep those poor soldiers in Iraq by voting for people other than Ron Paul who is anti-gov't and all about freedom. Why anyone would vote for somebody other than Ron Paul is beyond me. Too many people I talk to about him have never heard about him and don't know anything about him thanks to the media supressing him. That's very, very sad. You guys have no idea what kind of disaster is coming by not having Ron Paul in the White House. It's sad that none of you have taken a good look at this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA
- ralphie81, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1And ban smoking indoors nationwide.
- illspaz, on 02/12/2008, -0/+1south park? anyone? no?
- illspaz, on 02/09/2008, -0/+1dugg for "Clin-ton." that should be standard from now on
