- Ern3sto09, on 11/08/2009, -138/+1067Almost $1 Trillion of the bill is funded through reallocation; thus, the bill will not introduce new taxes and won't be "sucking more money out of our pockets like never before.

HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR - MrMischief20, on 11/08/2009, -69/+498Someone care to explain how providing health care to those who can't afford it equates to losing their freedom and this country going down the tubes?
- zoomer123, on 11/08/2009, -29/+401http://dummr.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/hmo-jesus ...
Jesus' Health Care Plan Would Include Everyone. Your Health Care Plan Would Only Include Those Who Can Afford It.
But I forgive you. - PlasticHotDog, on 11/08/2009, -26/+355I'm a better Christian than you are, and I'm an atheist!
- iPlunder, on 11/08/2009, -87/+407I remember being younger, always saying i was a republican when I had no idea what it meant. I wish i could take those words back.
- tidu, on 11/08/2009, -17/+314I'd rather pay money to improve our country instead of bombing others.
- Ern3sto09, on 11/08/2009, -53/+348Totally. Imagine how many poor people will live now because of the insufferable bill.
"the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness [unless you are a poor person]" - United States Declaration of Independence - NyteStarNyne, on 11/08/2009, -16/+264Joseph Cao FTW!
- JMAmado, on 11/08/2009, -11/+256It's simple. choices are:
A. Get insurance (Public or Private)
B. Pay an extra tax for not having insurance
C. Fine / Possible Jail
Kinda the same if you "choose" not to pay for Social Security, Federal Income Tax, Unemployment Insurance, car insurance, etc.
Note option C comes with 3 meals a day, free health care, 2 hours of outdoors activities and tons of new friends! - KenMixNY, on 11/08/2009, -97/+329YES!!!!!
- JoeyDaioh, on 11/08/2009, -67/+272About time.
- directedition, on 11/08/2009, -16/+220Do they have Glen Beck in Sri Lanka?
- thorny904, on 11/08/2009, -81/+285It's a start. Now the Senate needs to pass it. I am, again, happy to be an American
- vlmusicalsound, on 11/08/2009, -33/+229It's not single-payer but it's something.
- Pirate45, on 11/08/2009, -56/+245Does this mean I'll be forced to pay for it under threat of being fined?
- MrKev150, on 11/08/2009, -30/+186Don't tears seem to taste surprisingly sweet today? Maybe Glenn can shed some real ones tonight.
- yocouchdigga, on 11/08/2009, -13/+168Pretty scary stuff, if you ask me. We have an unlimited budget for war and Wall Street but when we want to take care of our own, it's "HURR SOCIALISM!!111!" - Are they trying to become irrelevant?
- Surkit, on 11/08/2009, -21/+171i trust the one who understands their own argument and doesn't mislead their audience based on their hate of government.
- algaeturd, on 11/08/2009, -37/+182It doesn't. It's bitter republicans with their lack of education and no understanding of what freedom really is. These are people who supported Bush as he completely destroyed the Constitution.
- TigerStar337, on 11/08/2009, -14/+156USA military spending this year...$651.2 billion. The proposed universal healthcare spending in 1 year...$90 billion. I am all for spending money on Americans and not spending money to kill people.
- NeverReturnKid, on 11/08/2009, -31/+167How many of those in congress read the whole thing?
- thoarod, on 11/08/2009, -30/+156You know who supported this bill, just to name a few? Links are provided to show exactly what various groups thought of H.R. 3962 and why.

Guess they're all a bunch of idiotic morons out to destroy your liberties, huh?
Can conservatives name one major respected organization advocating for consumers, patients, or doctors that supported the alternative Republican bill? Please provide the link showing that endorsement.
*crickets* - angryfirelord, on 11/08/2009, -62/+187And tell me, what happens if you don't insurance? They don't give you coverage, they FINE you.
"H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax."
"If the government determines that the taxpayer's unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply..."
"Criminal penalties
Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
• Section 7203 — misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
• Section 7201 — felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years."
And being 2000 pages, I can assure you no one except the lobbyists have read this bill in its entirety. - ExoticKosher, on 11/08/2009, -13/+138/s for those who need it.
- shaelen, on 11/08/2009, -23/+146In before the list of Democrats who voted against it is posted..
Just remember that Kucinich voted against it because it is a weak bill. They also pulled his "single-payer" plan out of it, which would have made it more robust and saved the U.S. billions of dollars. - Metalcastr, on 11/08/2009, -54/+177I await the results of this bill, hopefully it turns out to be good (if it's not gutted in the senate)
- soto4life, on 11/08/2009, -33/+152Its a shame, only 1 republican knew what he was doing.
- urdogfarted, on 11/08/2009, -8/+124My wife goes in for surgery next week for breast cancer (second time in three years). I hope to hell she doesn't get screwed over for pre-existing condition. The medical bills would ruin us. Please wish us luck. Thanks Digg.
- atchon, on 11/08/2009, -8/+123"I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me.'" Matthew 25:36
As an atheist maybe I am reading that wrong, but Jesus seemed pretty clear on his whole take care of the less fortunate thing. - BattleChimp, on 11/08/2009, -34/+149i'm not even into the bill all that much, but still all i can say is "HAHA ***** YOU BECK you ***** douche bag!"
- AmazingSteve, on 11/08/2009, -35/+149"I hate when obamabots..."
Credibility shot to hell. Nothing else you have to say matter. Goodbye. - funkeepickle, on 11/08/2009, -62/+172Ball's in your court now Harry Reid. Time to grow a pair and find a way to get this passed.
- PlasticHotDog, on 11/08/2009, -10/+114Yes, yes it is.
- bmson, on 11/08/2009, -13/+116Police, Army, Fire department etc.
- robertisaar, on 11/08/2009, -17/+116and imprisoned.
- lukas88, on 11/08/2009, -3/+101You might want to wait until it gets past the senate before you start celebrating.
- ExoticKosher, on 11/08/2009, -36/+134Who do i trust more, the man who might've raped and murdered a little girl in 1990 (I'm not saying he did but I don't see why he won't simply stand up and say he didn't, just saying) or the woman who is trying to provide every American with good health care?
I think I'm going to go with the latter. - ready4god2513, on 11/08/2009, -7/+99Are you seriously equating Jesus dying on the cross with a health care bill being passed through the house?! Comments like these are why Christians have a black eye. So often Christians say that we are persecuted because we are Christians. The unfortunate reality is that we (in the USA) are often ridiculed because we act like morons.
- funkeepickle, on 11/08/2009, -10/+99Actually that $200 billion ($0.2 trillion) is over 10 years. So that would come out to 20 billion per year, which, for comparison's sake, is about 3% of our massively bloated annual defense budget.
- algaeturd, on 11/08/2009, -13/+97SAY NO TO LACK OF EDUCATION AND MISUNDERSTANDING WHAT SOCIALISM IS.
- JMAmado, on 11/08/2009, -0/+82Pepperidge farms remembers...
- Ern3sto09, on 11/08/2009, -28/+110I doubt Big medicine is laughing at their massive amounts of new regulations.
They have spent millions in lobbying against these bills, so of course they wouldn't be happy now that it has passed
Clothing and shelter aren't inherently necessary to live. Food is necessary and it is already provided - food stamps.
But the pursuit of life means that every American has the opportunity to live and fight for their life during illness and injury. And this bill is not a hand out. It is not free to all. You still must pay, it is simply affordable health care for every American, so 44,000 people do not die in this country because of greed.
Traitors? Glenn Beck has done a number on you. - kinseyincanada, on 11/08/2009, -27/+106As a Canadian I just want to say congrats America you kick ass.
- jakereilly, on 11/08/2009, -47/+126Relocation? From where?
In the end, it is stupid the think this money is just going to appear out of nowhere. Somewhere down the line, we all will pay. To even suggest otherwise is stupid and dishonest. -
