Boycott Amtrak
lewrockwell.com — Amtrak passengers will be subject to random bag searches and bomb- (and presumably drug-) sniffing dogs, with government thugs carrying automatic weapons patrolling the trains. No doubt this will do wonders for Amtrak's already-stellar business. I'll just have to put more miles on my polluting car.

- Wiltster, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3Here's what I don't get. Trains, as almost anyone with a pulse and relatively good eyesight will tell you, inhabit a track. They are confined to a controlled, limited guideway. Safety measures inherent in the operation of trains preclude them from being used effectively as a tool of terror. Few options would be worse for someone to hijack. In the case of Amtrak, anything that could be done to increase ridership versus scare people away would make more sense. Hell, I love the train, but I can assure you that few are the lines of people clamoring to ride! Why the need to protect it? Drug-sniffing dogs and guns? Welcome to the twilight zone.
- bobthebruce123, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3This is getting ridiculous. What's next? Random searches as you enter the mall? And on and on.
This is the kind of thing that pisses people off in the first place. - Marsharks, on 02/20/2008, -0/+2Reminds me of all those movies I have seen with the Gestapo and trains.
