Bolton: ‘I definitely think’ Bush will bomb Iran
thinkprogress.org — Fox host Martha McCallum asked, “Can you imagine a scenario where President Bush would do that before the end of his term?” Bolton responded, “I think so, definitely.” He added later, “This is entirely responsible on our part.”

- LoneRanger85, on 05/07/2008, -8/+5Bombing terrorist camps inside Iran is not bombing Iran. Nixon did the same thing in Cambodia and ended the Vietnam War.
- toddcat, on 05/08/2008, -3/+8Nixon didn't "end" the Vietnam War. We were essentially driven from the country, caught between the South which thought we were too accommodating to the North, and the North, which had been extremely antagonistic towards us, both via government policy and public opinion, for a long time. I don't know what the point of your reference to bombing Cambodia is, although having read enough of your talk, you probably think this is an analog to bombing Iran. But the bombing of Cambodia, which was supposed to push the North Vietnamese out of the arms of Communism actually re-enforced the forces of tyranny and bolstered Pol Pot, who killed 2 million Cambodians......not only that, it led to the Kent State shootings 38 years ago.
- moolaismyfriend, on 05/08/2008, -6/+6Yeah hey you ignorant grunt after the bombing of Cambodia US casualty rates sky rocketed
Oh and this is how Vietnam ended. US nationals fleeing the embassy in embarrassment, you ***** conservative troop hating nut job!
"On April 30, 1975, VPA troops overcame all resistance, quickly capturing key buildings and installations. A tank crashed through the gates of the Presidential Palace, and at 11:30 a.m. local time the NLF flag was raised above it. Thieu's successor, President Duong Van Minh, attempted to surrender, but VPA Colonel Bui Tin informed him that he had nothing left to surrender. Minh then issued his last command, ordering all South Vietnamese troops to lay down their arms.
The Communists had attained their goal: they had toppled the Saigon regime. But the cost of victory was high. In the past decade alone, one Vietnamese in every ten had been a casualty of war"
THE COMMUNIST WON you stupid piece of *****- jer2eydevil88, on 05/08/2008, -1/+1While I think the Vietnam war was a terrible misguided mess I also think the Communist success over there was not a global win but a regional one. In the end of that tale the Soviet Union collapsed and the dollar skyrocketed. Instead lets investigate the Chinese example of Communism winning where they figured out how to exploit Capitalism by corrupting the market and sucking up to the idiots who run this country. If the Chinese methodology continues to work they will win by bankrupting the country forcing a revolution and a less powerful central government.
Obligatory ***** George Bush comment.

Only using the twisted logic of the ultra right wing could such incredible statements be made with a straight face. Yes, Rush, bombing Iran IS bombing Iran and it would be just as illegal and immoral as Nixon's mass murder of Cambodians was.
The US lost in Vietnam because we were the bad guys. Remember? Just the same as in Iraq. - beebelo, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2Dear Mr. Lone Ranger: Of course, and bombing Pearl Harbor wasn't bombing the US either.
- CryRightardCry, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1What a ***** moron.
You gotta admire the rightard ability to deny reality.
Well, you might admire it if it weren't destroying America.
- chicofaraby, on 05/08/2008, -3/+8Bolton definitely thought there were WMD in Iraq too. He has all the credibility he has earned.
- duggtodeath, on 05/08/2008, -2/+3The bombing of Cambodia was an excuse to extend a war already in progress...now what was the name of that war?
- CatoTheCensor, on 05/08/2008, -2/+3Ended the Vietnam War?
Do you study history through watching Fox News Video tapes?
The war ended when we packed up and went home. The same way the Iraq conquest will end.- CatoTheCensor, on 05/08/2008, -2/+1Sorry the above was a reply to the Lone Ranger
- AustinMandi, on 05/08/2008, -1/+4"Asked by McCallum whether Israel would be supportive of the strikes given the possibility of Iranian retaliation, Bolton responded, “I think they’d be delighted.” Sick.
- CryRightardCry, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Too bad we can't drop this ignorant piece of ***** out of a plane.
