Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall," and: "Come mothers and fathers throughout the land, and don't criticise what you can't understand. Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command. Your old road is rapidly agin'."
- Surferess, on 06/05/2008, -17/+92I rarely pay attention to the political leanings of entertainers, but I think Dylan is an incredible sage.
- alapoet, on 06/05/2008, -15/+87What a plum endorsement for Obama! Those of you who, like me, have followed Dylan for 40+ years will realize what a big deal this is. Like Springsteen (who ALSO recently endorsed Obama), Dylan just doesn't DO endorsements.
I think we can divine from these extraordinary endorsements just how important November's election is to us, to the future, and to the world. - macaca, on 06/06/2008, -6/+52♪♫ "I dont wanna work Hillary's farm no nore......." ♪♫
- shutaro, on 06/06/2008, -6/+39It's a very thymely endorsement.
- kingmanic, on 06/06/2008, -1/+31What an oreganol comment.
- MaynardJK, on 06/06/2008, -19/+49This is nice and all, but I am waiting to see who Britney Spears endorses before I make up my mind. I find that people who would be working for minimum wage if they weren't famous are the only ones that are smart enough to do my thinking for me.
Celebrities should shut the ***** up with their political views. - sandersdamnit, on 06/06/2008, -0/+25♪♫ "She's sixty-five but she says she's fifty four"♫

- Crosshare, on 06/06/2008, -2/+21I agree with where you're going but it's not even a close comparison with somebody like Dylan who has been involved in politics most of his life and somebody who says "umm, yeah... I think we should just trust what the president says and not question it" As Lewis Black has said, somebody has to die for that comment from her.
- pintomp3, on 06/06/2008, -2/+20the endorsement does not curry any favor with me.

Bob Dylan - kingmanic, on 06/06/2008, -2/+11Consider how the majority of the pundits and analysts out there are just pretty talking heads who blew producers to make their way, you could do worse then Bob Dylan for advice/opinion.
- lazyfisherman, on 06/06/2008, -2/+11Bob Dylan = Legendary musician who wrote some of the world's most famous songs (political or otherwise), influenced an entire generation of boomer politicians and helped reshape the political landscape as we know it.
Britney Spears = Attractive pop star who barely writes her own songs, famous for her ability to dance and, lately, for being an idiot.
You = Idiot - tizle, on 06/06/2008, -4/+12I have to say, i take exception to the fact that Obama is called the first "Black" presidential candidate. In his case, it is not a big deal that he is black. WHile a lot of black people voted for him, he has NEVER represented himself as a Black candidate or for that matter a Democratic candidate. He has always said that he is American and wants to represent Americans. He has always advocated that despite our differences, we are one. That's why I respect him so much and couldn't quite care less about his color.

Huh? His concert tickets and records still sell well, musicians still clamor to have him appear on their albums and at their concerts, his autobiography was widely reviewed, when he makes an appearance in public it gets covered in the news, etc. How is he NOT a celebrity? - iceooo3, on 06/06/2008, -3/+10So you vote for McCain then?
In this country, we have 2 choices only, the douchbag or the terd sammich... but in this race, I seriously cannot see one valid reason for McCain to even be given the opportunity, other than present day shady-ness by power hungry stakeholders. - kimbellina, on 06/06/2008, -1/+7My mom was a fan of Clinton, and was even considering voting for McCain over Obama... But, she's obsessed with Bob Dylan, and as of when I sent her this article 5 minutes ago, she's all for Obama. This will make discussing politics with my parents much more pleasant.
- Macrophage, on 06/05/2008, -12/+18Bob Dylan AND Joan Baez you count'nt ask for better.
No Sir Elton John for me...Thanx!
PEACE
John - SupaFupa, on 06/06/2008, -1/+7Blood on the Tracks sucks? I'll agree with you after '75, but your missing out on one of, if not the best albums he made. Nashville Skyline is up there too. Bob never stayed in one place for too long with his music. I think thats one of his best qualities.
- shutaro, on 06/06/2008, -0/+6I'm not certain that it cuts the mustard, but I don't think it'll hurt Obama's lovage any.
- coolkatz321, on 06/06/2008, -1/+7Well, this actually puts this former Clinton supporter and avid Bob Dylan fan well over the edge for supporting Obama. Dylan has never endorsed anyone, and has generally kept his stance generally unknown...but to endorse Obama... it's VERY impressive.

Breathe in the sarcasm like the coffee you need to inhale to wake up to the idea that Obama is going to be next president of the United States and unless the Elephant party can come up with something better he'll serve a second term too. - sandersdamnit, on 06/06/2008, -0/+5mail boxes drip like lamp posts around the somethin somethin of the colliseum, rim job fairies somethin somethin oh say can you see 'em

It's the media that lends credence to them (even when I happen to agree with what they say) that should stop pandering to the pop world and get back to reporting news. - dinot, on 06/06/2008, -2/+6So if I use my brain, am I letting anonymous internet losers influence my decisions?
- jayfarer, on 06/06/2008, -1/+5Because Obama doesn't come from the same system all the other candidates came from. He came from the world of community organizing and was lucky enough to be thrust upon the national stage thanks to John Kerry picking him to give a keynote speech, and he's using that fame to go for the highest office in the land.
Because he DOES have a good track record. He's reached across the aisle to create bills with Lugar, with Hagel, with all kinds of people. If you want a deconstructive analysys of his votes in the senate, you can look here:
