Black singer,"does not feel American." No National Anthem
worldnetdaily.com — What a shock! Not proud of America, won't sing The Star Spangled Banner. How anyone could ever defend this childish and foolish prank is beyond me, but you know they will. So go ahead Liberals, tell my why she is a hero.

CIVILIAN -(this definition includes "christians")

CIVILIANS don't KNOW it-
CIVILIANS will ARGUE to DEATH that there ISN'T a WAR.

I'm sure there are many people who will be willing to buy her a one way ticket back to her "homeland". Of course, once she gets there she will have to be very vigilant, because her fellow countrymen are still, in some areas, selling each other into slavery.- john1944, on 07/03/2008, -9/+3Yep... she's just another *****. ***** her.

Because of her, others will think long and hard before giving another black the honor of singing our precious national anthem at a public affair.
So, not only did ahe offend those who attended this affair, she has probably taken "gigs' away from truly patriotic blacks who would be honored to sing their and our anthem.

- mike8668, on 07/03/2008, -5/+20If Obama gets the big chair...get used to this... It should be considered an honor to perform the national anthem...But remember, he refuses to put his hand over his heart when the pledge is said or when the anthem is played. We have been taught this for decades to show some solemn respect for what we whould hold dear, our freedom and our country. He has no respect for this country and will change it immediately to fit his marxist socialist ideals.
- chicofaraby, on 07/03/2008, -9/+9Hi. I'm a socialist. I think the government should nationalize the health insurance industry. I was wondering if you could point out some of Senator Obama's socialist positions. Could you distinguish between those and his Marxist positions, too? You see, I haven't found a reason, as a socialist, to vote for the Senator, but if you can simply point out some of his socialist stuff, I may change my mind about him. However, I'm not a Marxist, so if he has more classic Marxist positions than he does newer more modern socialist positions, I may still pass on voting for him.
Help a socialist out, bro?- locamama, on 07/03/2008, -2/+12“In America,” Obama says, “we have this strong bias toward individual action. You know, we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams, are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations.”

RNC Stooge 2: Your seriously don't know the difference between socialism, communism and fascism? I guess that explains why you're a right winger.
RNC Stooge 3: David Duke is a Republican. You know, like Ron Paul, George Bush and Ronald Reagan.
RNC Stooge 4: You are incoherent, so I can' t really address your "points."
As I suspected, the RNCs paid posters can't post any positions of Senator Obama that are socialist. Why is that? Because the Senator isn't on the left. He's not a socialist. - dragonfire417, on 07/03/2008, -2/+3Anyone can read Obama’s father’s paper: Problems Facing Our Socialism
link: http://www.politico.com/static/PPM41_eastafrica.ht ...
And then read from his son’s book Dreams For My Father:
Barack states that his life is based on the ideals given to him by his Kenyan father. Obama declares, "All of my life, I carried a single image of my father, one that I .. tried to take as my own." (p. 220) And what was that image? It was "the father of my dreams, the man in my mother's stories, full of high-blown ideals .." (p. 278) He then tells us that, "It was into my father's image … that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself." And also that, "I did feel that there was something to prove... to my father" in his efforts at political organizing. (p. 230)
Anyone can see that he comes from socialist roots that he does not disagree with.
Then we can look at his college and early political life and see socialist tendencies.
http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obamas-international ...
Quote from this site:
[Obama's socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. Later, the Chicago DSA newsletter reported that Obama, as a state senator, showed up to eulogize Saul Mendelson, one of the "champions" of "Chicago's democratic left" and a long-time socialist activist. Obama's stint as a "community organizer" in Chicago has gotten some attention, but his relationship with the DSA socialists, who groomed and backed him, has been generally ignored.]
And Finally, during his time in the Senate which can be found at: www.ontheissues.org
Here are a few Obama ideas:
Match minimum wage increases to Congressional pay raises. (May 2006) -(Make everyone earn the same no matter what)
Create 20 Promise Neighborhoods in high-poverty cities. (Feb 2008) - (doesn’t that sound like communism?)
Ownership Society is another term for "Social Darwinism". (Aug 2007) - (should we not strive to own things? Sounds like communism…)
Rated 100% by the CTJ, indicating support of progressive taxation
It is obvious that he has different ideas for our country.
This is NOT change I can believe in............ - chicofaraby, on 07/03/2008, -2/+3Excellent. Someone actually tried.
A) Obama is not his father.
B) "Tendencies" are not policies. What you right wingers see in Senator Obama's life and tendencies are not to be confused with reality. You know, what the Senator actually proposes and votes for.
C) Minimum wage is not leftist. It may have been in 1908. Living wage is. Does the Senator support that?
D) Local incentives for poor areas doesn't sound like communism, it sounds like a good idea. It depends on it's implementation.
E) The fact that the Senator recognizes that the ultra right's social darwinism is seriously wacked indicates sanity on his part.
F) Progressive taxation is centrist. And a no-brainer for those of us who aren't far right ideologues.
In short, you didn't show a single policy of Obamas that is truly "socialist." You found one item that is clearly centrist (F) and one that could be slightly progressive (D) if implemented well, though it could be just another give to corporate welfare if implemented as tax breaks for corporate "citizens." I haven't looked but I suspect it's the latter.
Thanks for trying though. - farmerjohn48pan, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0Obama is not on the left? Give me a break! As long as you are looking up facts and figures, try looking up the Senator's voting record. It don't get more to the left than that.
- PolishLogic, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2@Chicofaraby
Venezuela and Bolivia are beautiful this time of year. - chicofaraby, on 07/03/2008, -1/+1" try looking up the Senator's voting record. It don't get more to the left than that."
You can't vote for the left when nothing leftist is brought to a vote. When did the Senate vote on a living wage? When did the Senate vote on public financing of elections? When did the Senate vote to nationalize health insurance? When did the Senate vote to nationalize higher education?
Never.
Voting against the insane right wing doesn't mean you're a leftist. It means you are sane.
Saudi Arabia is nice too, Rush. You'd fit right in there.
- nutz2u2, on 07/03/2008, -5/+11Mike8668 is correct. This behavior is the tip of the iceberg if Putz Obama gets elected president.

- johnnyreb61, on 07/03/2008, -6/+20No surprise as most blacks feel the same as she does including possible FIRST ANGRY BLACK LADY Michelle Obama. And until blacks decide to
become AMERICANS ignorant whites should quit pandering to them. White guilt over imagined wrongs is one of the main reasons Obomination has risen to notoriety. I have witnessed the absolute DESTRUCTION of a once proud southern city Memphis,TN by angry blacks in and out of government who don't feel "american". It's because they don't want to feel american in the context of SELF SUFFICIENCY. No they feel american when their hands are out demanding something you did not take from them. Yea I'm MAD and am sick and tired of being asked to apoligize for their CULTURAL INCOMPETENCE. But if the UNTHINKABLE happens and their BIG WELFARE hero Obomination wins the presidency, they'll feel real american.- hugothecommie, on 07/03/2008, -5/+15You are absolutely right. It's white guilt that is pushing his popularity. Every morning these people wake up wondering who is going to like them today. What can they do to get someone to like them. Liberals always think they can change the World. This is why they have murdered so many people. It's always in the name of social change. If they get their way with National Health Care, it will be the perfect way for them to eliminate the sick and the poor, the elderly. Remember, 60 % of your health care costs come after the age of 65.
- USNavyBlue, on 07/03/2008, -2/+3I have come to the conclusion that Thomas Jefferson was absolutely correct when he stated: The two races can not live under the same government. [verbatim]
- nippinawassee, on 07/03/2008, -5/+20the liberals have opened the biggest can of worms ever this election season. What amazes me is IF these blacks are so anti-America and they profess to resent the fact that their ancestors were ripped out of their HOMELAND (Africa, etc.), why don't they trek BACK to Africa and establish their black nation there? Why? Well, it doesn't take a rocketscientist to know the answer. Why would they go to Africa and try to establish their homeland when they can simply take over the United States and all of the improvements from way way back to the beginning of America - all the profitable businesses, all of the country's benefits - why should they work for anything when all they have to do is pout, sulk and condemn the whites in this country to get what they want? And if we continue kissing behinds on these individuals, we have only ourselves to blame. Me? Afraid of being called racists because I don't like blacks who are worthless, who are thieves, who are troublemakers at all levels? You bet I'm a racist but also remember I don't like whites, mexicans, cubans, italians, et al who are the same lowlife and the world seems to be full of them. Unfortunately WE can't criticize them because then we are called racists! I love it - calling me a racist makes my day - goes back to the ol' 'sticks & stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me...' Wake up America!

My sincere apologies to all the true Americans with African ancestry that have worked so hard to make this a great country. I salute you! You are a blessing to us all. However, I reserve a 1-finger salute for the ones that share your ancestry but only drag you down with their "I'm a victim, and it's America's fault" attitude.
- USNavyBlue, on 07/03/2008, -3/+3Agreed!
- Taquoshi, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Liberia was created in 1822 by expatriot slaves who wished to return to Africa and did with the help of President James Madison. The country formally came into being in 1847. Please note the dates, since both President James Madison AND the establishment of Liberia pre-date the Civil War. The earliest travelers arrived there 38 years before our civil war broke out and the country was formally recognized 13 years before the war. This did not happen in a vacuum.
However, some American blacks have traveled back to Africa recently in an attempt to reconnect with their roots. There are some books written by these pilgrims that point out that there's a whole lot more to being African than having an African name or wearing a particular style of dress.
So, yeah, I'm all for letting this woman head back "home" to see if she feels more comfortable there. I'd be fascinated to hear how it all turns out....

- garclar, on 07/03/2008, -5/+22This is the kind of disrespect you get from blacks with no class. Like Spike Lee telling Clint Eastwood why he should have more blacks in his movies when that is all Spike Lee has in his. Come on girl if you don't feel like an American then move your big ass back to Africa or to Zimbabwe where a black bloodthirsty dictator is killing his own people by the hundreds! You think you got it so bad here, move there, see how long you live! I am quite fed up with people like her who play this race card game like every white person hates black. She should have been around when the Irish were immigrating here, or the Italians, the hatred was overwhelming. She does not live in a society like that today, who is she kidding. Blacks have an overwhelming advantage in the media today, in the sportsworld, in the movies, tv shows, the colleges are wide open, if you can't find a job today it is because you are not looking! Opportunity knocks, all you have to do is open the door brother!

- fishunlarge, on 07/03/2008, -4/+16I DO NOT feel guilt over black people...never owned a slave, never mistreated a black person and don't intend to. Most, not all, like to feel victimized and for what reason I don't understand. All I can tell the black people that live here and don't like it then get the hell out of the country. Another thing I wish they would quit calling themselves African Americans...hell the majority of them hasn't been outside of the U.S. their entire lives. So, they need to get on the boat and hightail it back to the Mother Land!!!!
- locamama, on 07/03/2008, -1/+12Well I guess you need to listen to Father Pflegler's sermon so you can know how it's still your fault anyway - No HTML on Digg but this would be in my bright green "sarcastic" font
- bfrusa, on 07/03/2008, -9/+13Just wait until our (not a muslim) Muslim Obama is President. Does the word "reparations" spring to mind. I can list the names of seven relatives who were either killed or wounded on the Federal side during the Civil War. 5 of them signed up after the Emancipation Proclamation was announced. I think my family has paid our "reparations" in blood for this useless bitchs' better life in the United States. If she doesn't like it, she can get the F--- out.
- StaticThunder, on 07/03/2008, -9/+9Yeah, I'm sure your relatives weren't doing it just to make sure the north could compete with the south economically (no free labor in the north, since slaves didn't do well in the northern latitudes -- no Vitamin D).
Whatever makes you feel like a real patriot while you sit here regaling us of your dead ancestors heroism and telling everyone to "love it or leave it".
Typical jingoistic ***** I've come to expect from my supposedly patriotic countrymen, who love the first amendment until it bites them on their fat asses. - bfrusa, on 07/03/2008, -6/+2Static,
Your name is perfect. All noise, no substance. If you had any education at all, (must be the public school syndrome), you would know the South was in deep trouble economically and was only holding their own by the use of slaves, BY THEIR OWN ASMISSION. Read any of the letters of various southern congressmen during the Dred Scott debates or the lead-up to the Missouri Comprimise. The north was in far better shape and was able to overcome the southern independence movement by outproducing them. Kinda tough to do that if your "struggling" against a rival economic base. Also, prior to the Civil War, in the early days of the colonies and later the Republic, there were numerous slaves in the north. They gradually went away due the entirely different economics of the area, manufacturing and whatnot, rather then sprawling farms/plantations of the south. Since you don't know much, I'll enlighten you further. Southern Illinois and Indiana were NORTHERN slaveholding areas before and during the war. When the Emancipation Proclimation was announced, several Illinois and Indiana volunteer regiments mutinied rather then fight to free the blacks. They had signed on to fight to restore the Union. These were only two areas out of several. All of this is verifiable if you took the time to research it. Any good set of diaries from the time or even just notes from the Congressional records would show you how little you know about what you are talking about. Glad to see our Public School System paying off.- StaticThunder, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4You discredit your entire argument with ad hominem attacks. I'm sorry I got so under your skin. Must have hit a nerve.
You're just another fair weather patriot who thinks that waving a flag and stating your good intentions makes up for your pathetic lack of substantial actions in life, that you can only assuage by venting on digg.
What the congressional record states and the actual reasons for war are two different things. The congressional debates are for the benefit of the people who are about to be told to kill their countrymen. And to this day, you still buy what your government tells you.
"They gradually went away due the entirely different economics of the area, manufacturing and whatnot, rather then sprawling farms/plantations of the south."
They gradually went away because they weren't profitable. Not because of any high morals northerners had that southerners didn't. Or do you really think that the people just were morally different because they lived north of the mason-dixon. - bfrusa, on 07/03/2008, -3/+1"They gradually went away because they weren't profitable." Exactly my point about differing economics. Never said it was about high moral values until after the Emancipation. If you had any real knowledge of those times you would know the South was fighting a losing battle for States Rights against the growing Federal Authority. Since Slavery at the time was seen as a States determining issue AND Legal throughout a large part of the Uniited States, (Moral Issues aside), the BS about the South fighting "to retain their way of life" was merely a side issue and rallying cry. Most Southerners (and a good number of Northerners) were concerned over the growing power of Federal regulation. (Again there is documentation). The Civil War was the death knell of States Rights and began the real rise of the annoying idiocy we have in the way of the Federal Government. Slavery was/is morally wrong, but the underlying factor was still economic.
No, not under my skin. Takes a lot more then that. AND I believe you started the "ad-hominem" attacks. As a child of the Giovernment school system, it is obvious to me you can't differentiate between the records of congress and personal letters published AT THE TIME between members of the House within the party. Also, Since the CIvil War was the first really literate war, there are dozens, nay hundreds, of diares and letters home to substantiate my position.
I have long ago stopped listening to what the government tells me. Way back when I enlisted, I signed up to serve my country, not my goverment. As far as substantial action goes, I'll stack my Navy Cross and Purple Heart up against anything you can put up. - StaticThunder, on 07/03/2008, -1/+2Yes, it was economics, not morals. So your regaled ancestry is meaningless here. They went to war to turn a profit for their states, and if they couldn't profit, they'd make sure neither could the south through its cotton. You have just as little right to be here in this country as this woman you think should go back to Africa because she exercised her right to free speech. Maybe when you return ownership of the land to the native Americans, you can bitch about further reparations and how you've paid your debts.
"I'll stack my Navy Cross and Purple Heart up against anything you can put up."
It ain't a dick measuring contest, dude. I'm not dumb enough to put my life on the line for the bottom lines of our corporate masters, and thats what the last half dozen wars have been about. You're a "love it or leave it" patriot, who confuses economics for civic virtue, and you have just as little right to be here, and just as little moral high ground.

- StaticThunder, on 07/03/2008, -9/+9Yeah, I'm sure your relatives weren't doing it just to make sure the north could compete with the south economically (no free labor in the north, since slaves didn't do well in the northern latitudes -- no Vitamin D).

The Babel Fish on-line translator translated the above to the following; Overbearing and under-hung Japanese men oppress their women by forcing them into bukake sessions as a means in dealing with their low self esteem. The low self esteem is caused by the fact that the Japanese are able to effectively rip off and mass produce electronics developed in the west, although Japanese men will never be able to rip off American Rock & Roll or Jazz music and be able to play it with any heart, soul or very convincingly.

- rjwusa, on 07/03/2008, -10/+21Rene Marie is being divisive. She's accomplished nothing but shown how the black community is willing to anger and alienate the rest of the nation to make their point. Forget that it was white politicians and republicans who freed the slaves and advanced civil rights for blacks. Yet, Rene Marie is a bigot and has an unjustified animosity towards a country that has allowed her to become a jazz star. Something she would not have been able to accomplish one hundred and fifty years ago or if she grew up in and was living in her beloved 'Mother Africa' where the common people crap in ditches, live in mud huts, swat flies from their eyes, and die in huge numbers for lack of treatment for HIV, Malaria and malnutrition. Rene Marie is an idiot with many of the same beliefs taught to Obama by Rev. Wright. She also is an Obama supporter. What a Co-inky-dink! She, Obama and Write embrace the same beliefs!
- ssn697, on 07/03/2008, -2/+4"She's accomplished nothing but shown how the black community is willing to anger and alienate the rest of the nation to make their point"
So one persons actions, denounced by ALL the other black people at the ceremony, is your version of the "black community"?
Since you are an angry, hateful bigot, I can only assume you represent the Christian community, not yourself.
That is the way YOU do things, idiot. - rjwusa, on 07/04/2008, -2/+5When Rev. Wright, Obama, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Farrakhan, and Sheila Jackson Lee denounce what Rene Marie pulled, I'll be satisfied. I am not speaking for the Christian community, I am speaking for myself. Christians are quite capable of independent thought and do not march in lockstep with one another. Speaking of bigot, you're quite the Christophobe, aren't you? Idiot.
- Taquoshi, on 07/04/2008, -1/+5I think that by substituting the song that is considered a "black national anthem" for the American national anthem, Rene Marie may have unwittingly portrayed herself in the position of spokesperson for the black community, regardless of whether those blacks present agreed with her actions or not. What she may have intended as a personal political statement became probably far more than she bargained for. She then hid behind "artistic license" and waved the "I don't feel like a this country" flag, which just poured more fuel on the fire. Either way, she's gotten her five minutes of fame, and then some.
Please understand, I do not think what she did was right. Our national anthem needs to be respected and she was asked to sing it, which should have been an honor. If she did not feel that she wished to sing that song, the honest and forthright thing would have been to contact the organizing committee for the event and either totally decline or ask if there was another place in the program for a song. However, since she did later state that she does not feel like an American citizen, the best choice would have been to decline all together.
A number of years ago, Roseanne Barr "sang" the National Anthem at the opening of a baseball game. Her performance of the piece was less than stellar (I'm being VERY restrained here) and she concluded it by scratching her groin area and spitting because that's "what baseball players do". It was not well received, to say the least and did not help her career at all. She later tried to blame shift by saying that the event committee should have known she couldn't sing, but they asked her anyway. My position remains the same here, if the artist is either not capable of performing the song respectfully or does not wish to perform the song, the answer should be "Thank you so much for the honor, but perhaps some other time." - Equinox2012, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Don't forget that it was whites who enslaved them to begin with... don't get all high and mighty as to who freed who.

Just remember, if she doesn't feel like an American, that's her right. After what Bush and the Neo-Con did to it I was ashamed too, for a while. Plus, we are all transplants. None of us are true Americans. We killed, plundered and stole this land from it's indigenous people... and all in the name of God.

- Taquoshi, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1Equinox2012, Rene Marie does have a right to feel that she doesn't belong in America, but if that is true, then she should do something about it. There are many, many other countries in the world that she could immigrate to.
In another thread, I pointed out that the nation of Liberia was established in 1822 as a repatriation point for former slaves. This was well before the Civil War. Also, I would point out there were several states, mine among them that freed slaves (which were not just confined to the black race, but also included other people groups) in the late 1700's.
Regarding the "burden" of the past, not all white people have been involved in the slave trade. My paternal grandparents fled the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, my maternal grandparents were in transit because of the potato famine. My spouse's family members fled both the Soviet occupation of Hungary and the 1945 Hungarian uprising. So, no, our family burden of the past does not include slavery other than being on the receiving end.

- 10QGZus, on 07/03/2008, -4/+26This woman was WRONG. She was asked to sing the national anthem which is the Star Spangled Banner. She is an arrogant woman who is disrespectful. If a person is asked to sing a specific song by a person or a group, then you do just that. It is NOT "freedom of speech". If you are asked to speak at a McDonald's convention, you don't show up and sing the praises of Burger King.

Conservatives want to improve your lot in life by giving you Liberty. Liberty means you own yourself and your labor. Neo-cons and other leftists (includes most Democrats) want to make you equal with everyone else. We can only be equal when we are all at the lowest common denominator. That is socialism/communism.
You can only be free when you have Liberty. Equality binds you to everyone else because you cannot prosper as an individual. You must follow the collective. How can you leftist support such? When Bush did not veto the McCain Fingold's Campaign Finance Reform Bill which was an assault on the First Amendment, I knew then for sure we were in trouble with this guy. Dumocrats and Republicrats are playing a game with the electorate, They can do this because for the most part the average American are not watching. Tonight, while watching the fireworks from a home where Revolutionary cannonballs have been unearthed in the front lawn, I thought a lot about the various wars that our country has been involved in. We were far enough away from the actual fireworks that we couldn't hear the sound, so we had a fantastic light show. No blood, no guts, no gore (and no traffic jam). But I have to remember the Revolution wasn't bloodless, it wasn't gutless, and it sure was gory. The War of 1812 and the Civil War also cost thousands of lives.
Tomorrow, I will be doing a reading of Thomas Paine's essay that begins..."These are the times that try men's souls..." They were then and they are now. America The Beautiful and God Bless America have their place in our history and in our ceremonies, but we must never, never, ever forget what it cost so that we could sing those songs.

- USNavyBlue, on 07/03/2008, -5/+11It is insulting to Americans to have the Star Spangled Banner sung to the black national anthem. Our fore fathers fought, died and bleed much blood to free themselves from the oppression of tyranny by the evil British Crown and she spit on that! That is why there is outrage!
Quite frankly America is SICK of this racist behavior, it shines through everyday. However, at least America is getting the wake up call that it desperately needs thanks to clowns like this! So keep it up and keep showing America HOW much you hate them!
However, the black community does not even care if they offend Americans of other colors and it’s wrong. When is the black community going to stop being so self centered and start showing compassion and concern for others outside their race? It has been a one way street for too long in the eyes of many.
However, there would have been utter outrage if the "white national anthem" was sung about the oppressive government keeping white people down because of white guilt for so called past wrongs! (Not that there is one, however I am sure someone could think of something) And you can't tell me there would not be. The black community would be screaming and demanding a groveling apology.
Yes - there are issues in the black community (and yes all races have issues to deal with not just yours) however that being said it is up to the black community to do something about it and stop blaming the government and/or white people for the problems. Slavery is over. Matter of fact the first slaves in America were in FACT WHITE, not indentured servants either. http://www.rockhawk.com/white_slavery_in_america.h ... and http://www.epado.bravehost.com/whiteslaves08.htm
In addition in America there was Black slave owners that owned white slaves: http://www.epado.bravehost.com/whiteslaves09.htm
Why is this ignored and systematically swept under the rug by the government and the public indoctrination centers they call public schools? The Civil War was fought by white men to free slaves and thousands died for that cause. Is that not enough?
Affirmative Action was put into place to try and correct the wrongs as well. Which is racism because people are passed over because they are considered the wrong color. Is that not enough?
Scholarships have been are in place for only black people for college education that others races are DENIED, which is racism. Is that not enough?
Homes loans and low interest loans are put into place by HUD and other mortgage lenders solely based on color which denies others again. Is that not enough?
I'll stop it here because there are many more examples I could give you.
With that being said, what will be enough?
Apparently since she doesn’t “feel American” Do you think that your race would be better if they had their OWN government that represented your communities needs and addressed them? A government that worked to the betterment of your race and community? I think so after her comments and I don't mean that in a derogatory way. Think about it. What she is telling me is that forced integration has hurt the black race as a whole. And yes it has hurt the white race in more ways than one that is obvious. So, in other words forced integration is a failed experiment and everyone pretty knows it. However most people don't have the gonads to stand up and say so. So in order to resolve this rotten situation because it will NEVER be enough in the minds of people like her than the only solution would be a one way trip back to the mother land. Problem solved.- chicofaraby, on 07/03/2008, -5/+2Another verse of "Us poor white people have it so hard."

When Russia's government was overthrown by the communists, the communists had picked up many native Russian supporters within the government and general citizens to help them meet their goal. Do you realize what cam next? I don't think you do!
After the communist takeover the communists lined up the native Russians that helped them met their goals and KILLED THEM because the communists figured if they would turn on their current government they could not be trusted to eventually turn on them.
Just remember that when this happens in the USA - you will be the FIRST ONE LINED UP AND SHOT! I can't wait either!
And why are you so concerned as to what my skin color is? Sounds like a personal problem there dude! Again, I thought you socialists consider "skin color" to be only a mere "social construct". //sacasrm. Chomp on that for a while.
- nippinawassee, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2Late USNavyblue but I think this is the answer: The blacks in the USA who are enamored of the ones like J. Jackson, A. sharpton, et al, will never be satisfied. Can't fly the Confederate flag 'because it reminds us of slavery...'. Tear down all the Confederate Memorials 'because it reminds us of slavery...'
Face it: from what I have watched over the years, the likes of al sharpton, j. jackson, et al and the blacks who worship them will never be satisfied until each black owns at least ten Whites... Perhaps that is what will 'satisfy their gripes'...! Like that? I think it's a riot but at the same time could be ohsotrue...

- inboxnews, on 07/03/2008, -5/+5Black National Anthem lyrics:
Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring.
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise,
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee,
Shadowed beneath thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.- SOLGAARD, on 07/03/2008, -4/+3guess they miss they're "native land"

- dragonfire417, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4Obama’s webpage cites one of his goals as, “Create a Living Wage.”
Create a Living Wage: Obama will raise the minimum wage and index it to inflation to make sure that full-time workers can earn a living wage that allows them to raise their families and pay for basic needs such as food, transportation, and housing.
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/poverty/
Also his government-sponsored promise neighborhoods will provide activities form brith through college. (This is the parents’ job not the government’s job.)
Establish 20 Promise Neighborhoods: Obama will create 20 Promise Neighborhoods in areas that have high levels of poverty and crime and low levels of student academic achievement in cities across the nation. The Promise Neighborhoods will be modeled after the Harlem Children's Zone, which provides a full network of services, including early childhood education, youth violence prevention efforts and after-school activities, to an entire neighborhood from birth to college.- chicofaraby, on 07/03/2008, -2/+3Thanks. Thanks again!- Digger1218, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4Never mind that the "living wage" will only cause businesses to raise prices across the board making the dollar worth less than it otherwise would be, or simply hire fewer workers to keep prices static which would mean more unemployed people.
Also, most people who work for minimum wage are under 25 and working part-time or entry level jobs. Only around 15% of minimum wage earners are the sole earner for a family with children.

- nippinawassee, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Talk's cheap - as I said in another post: politicians and political wannabees are notorious liars - they tell the public what they want to hear and the information varies as to the difference in the attendance represented in the crowds. The proof is after the fact- talk is cheap - actions speak louder than words. Would prefer a politician tell the truth - that they WANT to do something but it may not happen - that they ARE concerned about this or that BUT fixing these things requires MORE than just me wanting to fix them. This is the problem and I attribute it to the ones that attend these political feed fests - as they've stated, bhmo's big push is coming from the first time voters and even those who aren't of age to vote - the whooping and hollaring does NOT a good politician make - it just inflates his ego and the egos of those who think the big crowds, the screeching and carrying on ALL make a good electee. Wrong. You just don't get the Christmas stocking chock full of what YOU want just because a political figure says HE'S gonna do it... doesn't work that way but the foolish ones will continue to put people in office who are the promise givers - let's see them deliver the goods and then we'll judge.
- mcrunch2, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Great, now the majority of minimum wage earners will be out of a job and the very few that depend on it for their families might be OK. Bad policy and very socialist.
As for the neighborhood zones, is Harlem a beautiful flower now that is attracting all kinds of investment and people moving in? I didn't see that in the quote. We've been 'providing a full range of services' in my city in almost every place conceivable. It hasn't really made a dent. Why? Because it just treats the symptoms, not the problems.
- chicofaraby, on 07/03/2008, -2/+3Thanks. That is good news. - dragonfire417, on 07/03/2008, -2/+4As far as tendencies and policies, let us start with where policies come from. Policies are created from ideas that leaders hold true, ideas that these leaders believe will create the type of society they wish to maintain.
Barack Obama sympathizes with the poor (not a bad thing) and wants to give them more from the government to allow them "to raise their families and pay for basic needs such as food, transportation, and housing." This sounds fair, but I can tell you, from years of working with impoverished teens, the way to lift them out of poverty is to show them how to achieve a goal, and reap the rewards. When government gives something away, it has no personal "sweat equity." This devalues what is given away, and ends up misused and/or unappreciated. It also creates an entitlement mindset, which decreases personal motivation and drive. The kids I have worked with are minorities, many from churches such as Trinity United. They are bright young people, but they are filled with hate, and are hostile toward the government and the country. What they need is not more money from others, but a belief that they can make money and live the American Dream by working for it. Part of what makes something valuable is the time and energy put in to creating it. A person just doesn’t get a sense of accomplishment when something is handed to him. If everyone gets the same thing for putting in 8 hours, why would someone work harder than the next guy? If he puts in an average day of labor, and gets the same pay as the guy who puts in extra effort, no lesson is learned. Instead of work hard, get more, he learns: work hard and get the same as the guy who put forth minimum effort. Less motivation in a workforce means less productivity.
Barack Obama wants to right injustices he sees in the world. He cannot save these young kids, they have to save themselves. I don’t think he is a bad person, but he is dead wrong about how to fix this problem.
His tendency toward a socialist concept of fairness is materializing into policies, which will support these ideas.
This quote is some food for thought:
“The young Marx himself went through the more primitive stage just as the human embryo goes through the gill stage; or to put it differently, one of his first immunizations was achieved by catching the most pervasive disease of all, the illusion of the Savior-Despot. When he was 22, the old kaiser died, and to the hosannahs of the liberals Friedrich Wilhelm IV acceded to the throne amidst expectations of democratic reforms from above. Nothing of the sort happened. Marx never went back to this notion, which has bedeviled all of socialism with its hopes in Savior-Dictators or Savior-Presidents.”

If you have spent any time around the poor and people of color and you still don't understand why they are pissed off, that says more about you than it does about them.
As I posted above, Senator Obama will get a chance to show us which way he is going to govern. I hope he does change and govern from a more leftist, practical standpoint. I fear he's going to stay center-right where his current policies, for the most part, lie.
Finally, yes, I know about Karl Marx. What does he have to do with anything? I mean, of course, other than being the right wing's favorite boogieman.- dragonfire417, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Oh, I understand why they are so angry- they have no hope. These teens have been taught that most Americans are their enemies, and that only certain people share their concerns and interests. If these people are not in power, they are told they will have no voice. Instead of teaching these young people to be victims waiting in line for a handout, we should teach them to become skilled and work for what they want.
Have you ever built anything? A deck for your home, kitchen cabinets, maybe you refinished a basement or bathroom. At the beginning, it looked grim, it may have taken hours, days, weeks even, but when it was finished…. What a feeling - even if it wasn’t yours. You created something. You worked hard. You were proud. Maybe you helped others to fix something. In your TEENAGE years, BEFORE you had a family, you learned that working hard babysitting or cutting your neighbor’s lawn brought a fine reward. Not enough to feed a family, but enough to learn the lesson. Hard work will pay off in the long run. Teenagers need to study – that is their hard work. If they work hard in school, they will be rewarded with scholarships – minorities have an advantage here too. Then they become skilled and work hard for higher pay.
No matter how you look at it hard work brings rewards. Most of these kids are bright young men and women and can go to college. They will succeed if they work. We need to teach our children to plan ahead, teach the teens and younger kids to study, and work hard. We need to show them the payoff, better yet let them feel it - by passing a difficult test, or by building a birdhouse that you watch together in the yard – as a bluebird nests in it. Teach them to teach their own children. Change comes when there is hope, not for government handouts, but for personal progress and emotional and material gain. - EvilCapitalist, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3Hard work may not guarantee success... but no work will sure guarantee failure!
- mcrunch2, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Yeah, He'll govern from a more leftist, practical standpoint. Lets see, there was Mussolini, Hitler,Lenin,Stalin...yep, very practical socialist progressives. They intend to 'love me to death'. I'll pass.

Well, it takes a lot more than WANTING to do things - and this individual does not tell the truth - he may WANT to do something for the poor, but it's interpretted as he's GOING to do...
The road to utopia is paved with good intentions - but the proof is in the person who tells the truth about things rather than dangling that bait just to get in office... of course then we'll be hearing: well, after the last eight years, I've got at least 6 years worth of reorganizing, cleaning up the mess, blah blah... heard it all - seen it all - not impressed one bit.
