- Suzilla, on 11/13/2008, -3/+13Obama is a synthesist. He'll gather information, listen to many, perhaps conflicting points of view, and then construct a considered and thoughtful position and formulate and execute a plan for moving forward based thereon. It is probably misguided, therefor, to think that any one person in Obama's administration will have particularly significant influence on policy. For every Rahm Emanuel or Larry Summers, you'll probably have a Paul Krugman or Warren Buffet offering counter-balancing opinion and advice. Bush, as fun and gregarious as he may be, personally, lacks the intelligence and subtlety to be able to forge policy and give direction from such a soup of conflicting ideas and experience. I think it's safe to say that Obama is replete with both. In short, focus less on the parts and more on the whole.
- JoeParanoid, on 11/13/2008, -3/+11This puts a more positive spin on the situation than is warranted. But the underlying message of "don't get your hopes up" is wise, particularly after all the hope hype.

Look, the GOP smear of "hopehypnosis" and "Obamessiah" was just that. After the election, we're cynical as well, however when it comes down to it, without a media that gives a damn about Bush's actions and considering that ours was entirely complicit, all we CAN do is hope, and vote for someone who was the most trustworthy and stable of the two. That is also not to say that there's not things to complain about here and there. - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -2/+5Thanks for that link. "Change" is what we're going to end up asking for on street corners with this band of thieves.
- bringitdownnow, on 11/14/2008, -2/+4Absolutely dugg.
This is the truth. Obama's victory might be a triumph for race relations in the US, but that doesn't change the fact that he's a component of the current corporate political system and like any of his white counterparts, he'll perpetuate the corporate system that is killing us all. Politicians aren't the solutions to our problems, we are. Let's take it to the streets and bring change in ourselves, because nobody is going to do it for us.
Whoever they vote for, we are ungovernable.

I think we're on the same page when it comes to the (irrational and inappropriate) support Israel gets from the US government. Given the choice of isolating himself with a cadre of like-minded ideologues and war-mongers like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Fieth, et alia, or staying open to ideas from many, intellectually and ideologically different sources, near and far, I'll take the latter. - GovernmentSp00k, on 11/13/2008, -2/+3The Obama & McCain puppets voted "YES" on the "bail out" (scam.) They willfully approved the mass extortion of $700 BILLION DOLLARS from 300+ million Americans. Without hesitation, without investigation or Federal Reserve audit to speak of, without any protest whatsoever.
What more evidence does one need to realize where their true loyalty lies?
*****..
How could anyone in their right mind continue to support these deceivers? They ripped you off!!!! BIG TIME.
These carefully scripted, platitude pandering front men for the corporation of the U.S.A., inc. have made it crystal clear they are **NOT** for the American people. They only pretend to "represent" us. Throw us a bone come voting time.
They would never receive constant free airtime, free promotion and free TV advertising 24/7 if they were for real change or "for the people!" The controlled media equally promotes both false paradigm divide & conquer partisan "sides" just the same. It's a farce. We are given the false illusion of "choice" while marketed lies upon deceit as to their true intentions. - MsLaurel, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1If you are that concerned, It would be more constructive to go sign petitions (to the new administration) on http://www.care2.com/take-action/ or go to Obama's new website Change.gov and type-in your suggestions.
Obama has not yet finished hiring his cabinet. He has a list of 200 of Bush's executive decisions to reverse. He is planning to bring the detainees to trial and to close Guantanimo. How much more do you want in 8 business days, with Bush still in the oval office, screwing-up everything he can before he leaves?
Did anybody notice?
I, too, despise those jerks who are ignoring the clear mandate sent by the American people, pooh-pooh-ing the changes that we want to see. On the other hand, can we at least get Obama inaugurated, before we blame him for everything? - DearSergio, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Who Dugg me down?! You're not allowed to Digg this ***** down unless you know what TGORM is!
- DearSergio, on 11/13/2008, -1/+1The more things stay the same, the more I go insane!
TGORM FTW! - heystoopid, on 11/14/2008, -1/+1Thought for the day .
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation under God, indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all." - inactive, on 11/14/2008, -1/+1Well, I realized when I voted--I was voting for the least of two evils!
Give the guy a chance, he isn't even in office yet! He can't goo too far off the mainstream, or they would be out calling for his impeachment before he even got started! He's not going to be able to accomplish that much in his first year. After that, we will see how he does, and how we do. - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -6/+4Remember folks, Margert Kimberley and BAR supported Kucinich, not Obama. They were right for all the right reasons.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -4/+1So for every Israel-first war mongering wall street bailout ripoff artist like Rahm Emmanuel that he puts in the cabinet, he'll appoint another person who is NOT an Israel-first wor mongering wall street bailout ripoff artist? Thanks, I'm so relieved. According to your calculations, we'll have a cabinet that's only 50% Israel-first war mongering wall street bailout ripoff artists.
