I have friends and colleagues in the US. In the last 8 years I have seen Europe and the US drifting apart. I love the US and have been there both on holiday and for business. I was in the US on 9/11 and shed tears for your loss.

I live in Germany. I have friends and colleagues in the US. I have watched the last 8 years during which the USA and Europe has drifted apart.
We see Obama as the great hope for rebuilding our relationship to a once great country.

I do unfortunately see a large group of similarities to the history of Germany in the 30's.

It won't happen but look at what the executive branch has now for powers. In the 2nd world war the US executed internment for all Japanese citizens and those who were related to the Japanese.
