- cg4et, on 05/07/2008, -8/+144This long fight has really made him a better candidate. He has proven he can stand up to whatever is thrown at him and still come out strong.
- scatteredbomb, on 05/07/2008, -5/+115Strongest part of the speech.
"Yes, we know what’s coming. We’ve seen it already. The same names and labels they always pin on everyone who doesn’t agree with all their ideas. The same efforts to distract us from the issues that affect our lives by pouncing on every gaffe and association and fake controversy in the hope that the media will play along. The attempts to play on our fears and exploit our differences to turn us against each other for pure political gain – to slice and dice this country into Red States and Blue States; blue-collar and white-collar; white and black, and brown.
This is what they will do – no matter which one of us is the nominee. The question, then, is not what kind of campaign they’ll run, it’s what kind of campaign we will run. It’s what we will do to make this year different. I didn’t get into race thinking that I could avoid this kind of politics, but I am running for President because this is the time to end it.
We will end it this time not because I’m perfect – I think by now this campaign has reminded all of us of that. We will end it not by duplicating the same tactics and the same strategies as the other side, because that will just lead us down the same path of polarization and gridlock.
We will end it by telling the truth – forcefully, repeatedly, confidently – and by trusting that the American people will embrace the need for change. " - happyseamonster, on 05/07/2008, -5/+86That is our next President. : )
- TyroPyro, on 05/07/2008, -8/+55This was one of my favorite Obama speeches. He was emotionally into it... very genuine and powerful.
- Deodrus, on 05/07/2008, -5/+51I just did my math on the Delegate Calculator on CNN.
http://fapomatic.com/show.php?loc=0818&f=nc_result ...
What I found is that even if Clinton wins all the remaining contests by 60% to 40%, Barack Obama will almost touch 2025 delegates (the magic number), only being short of it by 2 delegates !!
Meaning if 2 supers endorse him from now on and she wins with 60% in every state... HE STILL WINS !!
I think it's time to give up for HRC.
Do the math yourself:

[I'm copy-pasting this comment because I can't be bothered to rethink new ways of saying it] - inactive, on 05/07/2008, -16/+60Wow. I predict it will not be long before republicans go back to ***** their pants at the prospect of McCain having to run against this guy.
Saying "b-b-b-b-but Rev. Wright" is going to be pretty weak tea five months from now. Especially when it's coming from the mouth of a crotchety old cancer patient. - inactive, on 05/07/2008, -7/+45I'm so glad we can move on now to defeating McCain.
- cyberprunes, on 05/07/2008, -3/+30The fact a Black guy named Barack Obama has made it this far is nothing short of amazing. It's one of the few things that makes me think maybe we aren't all bigoted ignorant bible thumping asshats. Judge the man by the man, not the sins of the father or his unusual name.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -4/+29Time to move the inauguration speech to the Lincoln memorial!
- Hillsfar, on 05/07/2008, -5/+28"I trust the American people to realize that, while we don’t need big government, we do need a government that stands up for families who are being tricked out of their homes by Wall Street predators, a government who stands up for the middle class by giving them a tax break, a government that ensures that no American will ever lose their life savings just because their child gets sick.
"Security and opportunity, compassion and prosperity aren’t liberal values. They are not conservative values. They are American values, and that is what we are fighting for in this election." - CouchTomato, on 05/07/2008, -5/+27Wow. c'mon America! lead the world towards a whole new level with this man in charge.
- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -3/+24Obama will win them in the general, because unlike in Hillary's sham primary, his name will actually be on the ballot.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -2/+23I will continue to warn all those who think Obama's already won the General: he is a long way from beating McCain. I am an Obama supporter in NC who voted for him yesterday. However, the race factor does exist and is undeniable in my area. McCain has already locked his nomination, yet still just as MANY North Carolina Republicans went to vote for him anyway and several voted for Huckabee who was still on the ballot. That alone is a testament to the bible belt.
My point is that the Good 'ol Boys club is still intact and as strong as ever. They will go out and vote and many of them would not vote for a black man with a gun to their head. To deny this factor exists is a recipe for disappointment in the general. They will come out in force to write in Captain Kirk before they will vote for a black man. You should hear some of the redneck's comments I've heard about Obama that I will not repeat. - dilton7, on 05/07/2008, -4/+25Its like a game over speech for hillary to recognize .
She talking about Florida and Michigan ...hmm kinda desperate right? - inactive, on 05/07/2008, -2/+21All those Shrillary voters are saying they'll vote for McCain in the general because they're republicans carrying out Operation Chaos. They won't vote for Obama in November but not because they love Shrillary.
Shrillary's main base of support these days is lonely, loserish rush limbaugh listeners with no jobs and hence nothing better to do than go out and try to mess around with the dem nomination process. - Tex, on 07/28/2008, -2/+21"She would be a lock to win this in November."
Yeah, the candidate with 55% negatives is a total shoe-in. - MidgardMurda, on 05/07/2008, -1/+18It's very easy to listen to Obama...I love his long ass speeches.
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -0/+15It feels so good having a President who is capable of speaking like an intelligent, well educated individual. Let's all promise to never let a redneck into the white house again ok.
- rodrigo74, on 05/07/2008, -4/+16Retarded people like you that make the campaign for president be based on gaffes and scandals instead of proposals and plans for the future. This is the election for President of the USA, not to elect who got the coolest dad. Time to act like a grown-up, Lukas.
- radink360, on 05/07/2008, -2/+14I want to here obama finish his speaches with "If ya smellllllllalalalalala what the rock..... is cookin"
- noangelcame, on 05/07/2008, -2/+12I was with you up until you called McCain a cancer patient,.. yeah, .you went too far.
- WhipkickeN, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10Just to tie obama she needs to win EVERY remaining state by 70/30 AND take 172 of the 274 remaining supers. And obama would still be winning by 1 delegate.
- ochito, on 05/07/2008, -5/+14Wishful thinking on my part maybe, but how about this scenario:
Hillary doesn't concede. She won't want to "humiliate herself" that way. However, with her last chance to cut into Obama's lead gone, she knows she can't get the nomination. She doesn't drop out, but cuts a deal with Obama for one or more of the things already mentioned in rumors: Senate Majority Leader, Obama helps her pay campaign debt, some say on VP nomination.
For her part of the deal, Hillary agrees to keep her campaign in the upcoming states NOT against Barack, but against McSame.
Imagine how sweet it would be to have that for the next month. It is, after all, as it should be: McCain gets attacked in two fronts. Hillary, being the "feisty" (kind word for dirty) campaigner could sling all the mud that he deserves, and Barack can attack him rightly on the issues. Both can ask democratic voters to vote for them based on who they think stuck it to McCain better.
Hillary wins her states, (WV, KY and PR), Barack wins his states, and with the slow trickle of super delegates he clinches the nod outright with votes from MT or SD. No need for HRC to be embarrassed and concede and be branded a quitter, after all, she didn't quit, she went all the way and just got beat fair and square. Saves face, has a graceful exit, and helps the party without kowtowing directly to Barack, simply by going after McCain as she should have done all along.
Like I said, maybe pie in the sky, but it seems like a win-win scenario to me. - dreamtiger, on 05/07/2008, -2/+11The USA is finally ready for its first black president, now that the Republican Party has made us all feel like blacks have traditionally felt; disrespected, unsafe, unprotected, beaten down and exploited. Obama will restore this country to sanity. He will win in a landslide this fall.
- cyberprunes, on 05/07/2008, -0/+9how about he won NC because more people voted for him.
- DukeMojo, on 05/07/2008, -1/+10Oh yes, because paying to not only maintain and bolster an army full of dieing Americans, is so much better than paying to help people in the lower class get a better chance at life rather than ending up having to join the military just to get money and a secure job.
That's a heavy decision. - cbittle, on 05/07/2008, -1/+9I have a political boner right now.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -0/+8So that was you?
- cyberprunes, on 05/07/2008, -1/+91. Show me evidence of Racism.
2. Stop parroting the media talking points labeling him as an "Elitist". Its ridiculous. ALL politicians are elitists in some way. Being elite is not necessarily a bad thing either. I'd much rather have an elite Harvard professor over a GED beer swillin ignoramus any day. I would rather be elite than average in my career. - arkboysooner, on 05/07/2008, -0/+8That's why Rush's conservatives all voted for Hillary right?
- cyberprunes, on 05/07/2008, -1/+8It's perfectly fine if you don't support Obama but when you leave hateful, ridiculous, ignorant, inaccurate characterizations you only prove yourself to be part of the problem with America. What America doesn't need is small minded people like you being involved in the democratic process. Of course it is your right to be involved but I just hope you stay home on election days .
- OfNumbers, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7fapomatic?
- chassach, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7This is the news release from Clinton when she and the other candidates pledged to avoid the two rule breaking states and explained why:
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?i ...
The other candidates stood by their word. She didn't. Because she was desperate. - andydread, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Trust me I know. Living here in GA right next door and I hear some amazing things. But that breed is dying a slow death and I think more people will and kids will be out in force this November. I was looking at McCain but noticed a disturbing pattern with him and lobbyists. And I am sick of Lobbyists buying out our clueless politicians to our detriment. DMCA, PRO-IP ACT anyone?
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9It only seems this way to you because you're a horrible narrow-minded person who doesn't want to listen to someone smarter than them
- swingsetmaifa88, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6one can only hope.
- dastafarin, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7Dugg simply for hosting the image on fapomatic.
- unearth, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6You're being dugg down because people have already explained why your comments are irrelevant. Replying 6 times to your own comment probably has something to do with it, too.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7Or he'll take CO and VA so it won't really matter anyway.
- PaulSearsPhoto, on 05/07/2008, -2/+8Thank god - Hillary please give it up, you're hurting the whole party!
- consoneo, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6Socialistic Capitalism? Yes. It is their job.
- andydread, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7The people who are the most hung on the race issue are seemingly the ones who are trying to brand him a racist seems to be the biggest racists in my experience.
- consoneo, on 05/07/2008, -4/+10Dammit. Find something to attack the MAN, instead of his relations, and I'll listen. This ***** association defamation is not going to cut it. Every person is different. They are not necessarily a product of who they know. Find the evidence to show that Obama's father has impacted Obama in such a way as to induce the same qualities in him, and I'll listen. Until then, shut the ***** up, because it's completely pointless.
- nooreazy, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7That guy in the pale blue shirt is TOO happy
- cyberprunes, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6What a steaming pile of *****. First off, he was a kid. Children typically inherit the religion of their parents until they gain the understanding to make their own decisions. To say "documents showed he enrolled as a Muslim while at a Catholic school during first through third grades" is meaningless. Those are not choices that children make. I was raised Baptist. That was not my choice as a child! My mother dragged me to that ridiculous church week after week. I don't identify with those beliefs today. And so what if he had a muslim upbringing? Muslim is not equal to Islamic fundamentalism. These nazi like propaganda tactics are shameful. Here's a thought. Obama's exposure to muslim culture just may provide him with some actual wisdom and insight regarding the middle east.
- Tochi, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6You know what I love about Digg? The Block User function...
Troll. - Tlogmer, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6I normally wouldn't respond to this, but a family friend is buying the "obama is a muslim" line, so I feel like I have to rebut.
1. The name Hussein isn't just given to muslims. That's like saying the name Peter is just given to christians.
2. Obama's father was an atheist. Obama Sr. might have been born a muslim, but he was an atheist by the time he fathered Barack. The article's "islam passes from father to son" argument leaves no way for any muslim to ever leave the faith!
3. Indonesian students were segmented by religion -- but I suspect this was bound up with ethnicity and culture and class. By the author's logic, my mom would be christian because she sang christmas carols in her high school choir. (She's jewish.)
4. No one who knew Obama in the U.S. (which is to say, during his whole life from age 10 onward) has ever said he was a muslim. No one has ever reported him practicing islam. HE WAS NEVER A MUSLIM. HE WAS AN ATHEIST, THEN A CHRISTIAN. -
