- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -31/+562WOW. WOW. WOW. This is people power in action. And, this isn't about 1st amendment rights, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. No one, not even this putz, is entitled to be paid for their hate speech.
- sugarazor, on 03/27/2009, -14/+442This is just amazing. Using O'Reilly's own tactics of going after advertisers to take him down is poetic justice. Now if only someone could do this to the rest of Fox News.
- BigBalledOX, on 03/27/2009, -15/+328Large-scale voting with your wallet. Let's hope this is the first of MANY.
- Batfishy, on 03/27/2009, -14/+263It's nice to see things like this happen. Good for UPS for standing up for what's right.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -13/+237How dare they? Bill-O ought to find out who at UPS made this decision and stalk and harass them!
/s - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -10/+230If you're wondering what you're hearing, it's the sound of dominoes falling.
- Andrewt522, on 03/27/2009, -15/+171Is there a witch somewhere screaming "I'm melting! What a world, what a world"?
- moosejaw99, on 03/27/2009, -16/+162and UPS gains a new customer. ME.
- paintgrl, on 03/27/2009, -15/+160Awesome, this is why I support boycotts, they work.
- Lederhosed, on 03/27/2009, -20/+164Go UPS! Many people might know this, but I think it's important to point out that they're a union shop, while FedEx isn't--at least the last time I checked. So if the price is close between both, I'm going with UPS.
- kingmanic, on 03/27/2009, -0/+117"And, this isn't about 1st amendment rights, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. "
Indeed the first amendment does not protect you from criticism, legal action, or guarantee a platform for that speech. Only that you are free to say, associate, and believe as you please without government intervention. - Verchiel77, on 03/27/2009, -15/+130Right wing WAAAAAmbulance to start crying "censorship" in 5...4...3...2...
- rmpowe, on 03/27/2009, -11/+120You can help make sure other advertisers follow suit here: http://thinkprogress.org/stop-oreilly-harassment/
- FredFredrickson, on 03/27/2009, -3/+96Ann Coulter?
- cxret, on 03/27/2009, -10/+96Brilliant!
- liquisoft, on 03/27/2009, -12/+84When people raise their voices en masse, it's hard to ignore. It doesn't matter what the cause is.
That said, I'd like to see O'Reilly's support decrease significantly. His political stance is unimportant to me, but his words are. He spouts hatred and gets people behind him. He should go away. - ZIRCHxWORLD, on 03/27/2009, -5/+71good job!
UPScale move! - buzzben, on 03/27/2009, -12/+73Prepare for the Attack of the GOP Clones. I can hear them now:
"How do you say UPS in French?? Hahaha"
"I knew they were tree huggers from those brown uniforms, I'm using DHL from now on!! Um...what are their colors..yellow.. red...DHL are Communists!! Screw it..if I can't deliver it myself in my American-made pickup, you must be a damn foreigner anyhow."
"Wait, I thought we were mocking Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize, prohibiting our kids from watching iCarly, and boycotting everything ever done by Will Smith?!?! How am I supposed to keep track of all of this phony outrage?!? - ironhide, on 03/27/2009, -4/+61Believe it or not, more liberals understand that First Amendment protections don't apply to private entities than it appears "conservatives" do.
- ironhide, on 03/27/2009, -4/+61"Today UPS announced it will stop advertising on O’Reilly’s show. Here is the statement UPS emailed out just moments ago:
Thank you for sending an e-mail expressing concern about UPS advertising during the Bill O’Reilly show on FOX News. We do consider such comments as we review ad placement decisions which involve a variety of news, entertainment and sports programming. At this time, we have no plans to continue advertising during this show." - Verchiel77, on 03/27/2009, -5/+55I hope you can point out an occasion when Olbermann sent people to stake out, stalk, and ambush someone on the street.
Oh wait. You can't.
It might be hard to grasp, but waylaying people like that without even having the courtesy to approach them through professional channels has nothing to do with ideology. - KMartSheriff, on 03/27/2009, -4/+54I always knew UPS was a damn good company.
- phylum, on 03/27/2009, -11/+55the sexual harassment law suit against him comes to mind, every time i see him, just creepy.
- ganymede2010, on 03/27/2009, -7/+50No doubt he'll blame the so called far left smear merchants at MSNBC, the all powerful Markos Moulitsas, and last but not least, the real power brokers at Thinkprogress whom he alleges controls NBC.
- FredFredrickson, on 03/27/2009, -10/+51This is good news, but personally, I think I'd rather see Rush's advertisers pull out before O'Reilly. His followers seem a little bit more... dangerous.
- UncleScubba, on 03/27/2009, -10/+50Excellent! When you absolutely, positively have to stop advertising with an ***** overnight!
- ManUnitdFan, on 03/27/2009, -3/+42Good work reading past the first paragraph.
- ZIRCHxWORLD, on 03/27/2009, -8/+46dayum! UPS dropping him like a heavy package
- VisualRhetoric, on 03/27/2009, -12/+49Awesome. Now let's find a way to get companies to stop supporting the giant douche that is Hannity.
- Echota, on 03/27/2009, -10/+44Yea!!!!!!!!
Now let's hope more of his sponsers will step up and do the same! - redcolumbine, on 03/27/2009, -10/+44I really should send all these books back to my mother. She can probably store the framed posters for me, too - she's got more room.
- JamesK, on 03/27/2009, -2/+34Maybe boycott all of Fox. All Fox stations, just don't watch. Since they're all owned by Rupert Murdoch anyway.
- MediaWeasel, on 03/27/2009, -8/+39People power. The best there is when it's to effect change for the better for all. Excellent news and I hope UPS follows through. That kind of decision would definitely make me use their services rather than those of someone who didn't see the importance of this campaign.
- Verchiel77, on 03/27/2009, -7/+38I'm sure they'll miss your eBay auction traffic...
- Berkana, on 03/27/2009, -2/+31Lame straw-man argument: "liberals claim that conservatives are bullies": what liberals are saying this? What claim? These are straw-men. O'Reilly's opponents are specifically calling him a bully on account of his harassment journalism. The same charge could be used against Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh for the tone and direction of their speech. No charge is being made against conservatives in general.
This does NOT amount to bullying; O'Reilly is entitled to his opinions, and if he wants to interview people of opposing views, he could just as easily invite them onto his show. What this is about is O'Reilly's use of intimidation tactics. All this is about is not monetarily supporting someone who uses these unethical tactics and attempts to pass them as journalism. - Maddoktor2, on 03/27/2009, -3/+31Read The ***** Article.
- FredFredrickson, on 03/27/2009, -5/+31And the rest of the conservative hacks on the AM radio.
- kingmanic, on 03/27/2009, -3/+27That I am from Canada and that your left wing party is further right than our right wing one? Go look at the political systems around the world and you'll notice that CNN is in fact right of center and that American center would be right of center in any other western nation. Truly CNN represents a very centrist viewpoint. Left of center would be something like the CBC.
- Alheithinn, on 03/27/2009, -11/+35Signed and sent and will blog it as well. Thanks for posting. Go UPS!
- CrackHappy, on 03/27/2009, -1/+25Thanks for the clarification kingmanic, I'm sure others would have taken it the wrong way otherwise.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -19/+43It seems America doesn't support the NeoCons war on lies anymore.
It might have taken a little while to see through the corporate owned Nazi media cable fake news networks but 70% of America are now true Patriots.
Only a complete scumbag still listens to opinions from a whacked out drug addict on the radio, or a dildo using pervert and his screeching she-male cohort on FOX.
Now, that is the height of stupidity! - Dumbledorito, on 03/27/2009, -2/+25In case you missed it, "Dirk," Mahr lost his show (and gained one on HBO) and the Dixie Chicks' songs were banned from radio stations for quite a while.
But please, go on about how you're persecuted by "brownshirts" and keep on ignoring that real world out there; it could break your fragile picture of a place where all right-thinking people agree with you. - CrankMyBlueSax, on 03/27/2009, -15/+38This is pretty cool. O'Reilly needs to sit down and STFU.
- kingmanic, on 03/27/2009, -0/+23"It seems America doesn't support the NeoCons war on lies anymore."
You keep using that sentence. I do not think it means, what you think it means.
-Inigo Montoya - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -2/+25Damn right (and much 'calmer' than the way I said it). Thank you. ;-)
- AndersenWatcher, on 03/27/2009, -10/+33Bill got slapped with brown...matches his breath.
- FishHammer, on 03/28/2009, -3/+25I'm going to hope you copy and pasted that from somewhere, otherwise I'm just going to assume you work for UPS and a FedEx guy ***** your girlfriend.
- caramba421, on 03/27/2009, -0/+21I readily acknowledge that Bill Maher is was protected by the First Amendment from being fired. But it was still a total pussy move on the part of ABC.
- pickleprince, on 03/27/2009, -5/+26Really? What's the name of you business so we (and everyone else who might do business with you) can boycott you?
- anthropodeus, on 03/27/2009, -0/+21NOOO! they were the only pizza place close to my house!
/ha
hopefully the entire party will crumble so a better one can take its place -
