- DucoNihilum, on 12/04/2007, -18/+197This isn't exactly "BREAKING"....
- mu0p, on 12/04/2007, -13/+147well who the hell are we gonna bomb NOW?
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -7/+97Update: National security adviser: 'We were right' to be worried about Iranian nuclear ambition
WTF? While admitting that they have been wrong & therefore lying & warmongering for two years against Iran, they also say that they were right to do so?! That's called double-speak in my book. Also, the White House said at the same time that they are going to be even tougher on Iran! WTF? So, despite the facts, aka reality, the Executive Branch of warmongering neocons not only will not apologize/admit being wrong again about WMDs, but they want to stay on their course which will likely lead to another illegal, immoral, & unnecessary war with a oil rich country.
I say, throw the bums out! (or worse) - smoothmedia, on 12/04/2007, -6/+83At least the NIA had the balls to release this BEFORE we go to war for no reason again.
- Gabberwok, on 12/04/2007, -7/+80Now here's what I don't understand... Pakistan has nuclear weapons and Osama Bin Laden, and pretty much the only person in that country who will even pretend to be our ally is an aging dictator with his grip on power slipping as we speak. I am much less worried about nuclear weapons in the hands of a state like Iran than nuclear weapons in the hands of whoever finds them first in the event of a complete collapse of the Pakistani government. As stupid as they may be, if the current administration isn't at least as worried about these events as I am and does not have a good plan in place, than we are truly *****.
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -6/+43DucoNihilum: Actually it is breaking news because the NIE report was just released, as well as it is amazing that our 16 intel agencies are now in agreement that we have been wrong for demonizing Iran for the past two years. Aka, Bush, Cheney, Israel, & the other neocon warmongers have serious egg on their face as of today! They have been lying all along & its now proven as of today!
Gabberwok: The reason that you do not understand is that you've taken your eye off the oil. There's more to it than that, but your confusion is that you listen to what the White House says too much, which is all just propaganda or what they call "perception management". - inactive, on 12/04/2007, -6/+41The main problem here: nuclear power and nuclear arms are in no way a threat to you. They wouldn't even make it half way accross the ocean.
The only way they could make it is if your defense system, comprised of thousands of personnel, aircrafts, strategic interception missiles, tracking satellites, etc. Were to stand down in the event of an attack, like they did on 911.
You can't simply attack the US like it's some POS third world country. Aside from Russia, nobody has enough power to even pose a threat to America (domestically). The air, ocean and land is heavily protected with state of the art interception technology and personnel.
And Russia itself never dared attack because you would've destroyed the entire country if they had. Iran, Pakistan and all these countries are completely powerless against you.
911 was used to make you believe that you are vulnerable in order to make you want to wage war out of fear. The only country that even equaled you in nuclear power never even dared attacking you with any other mean. We're talking about states that are poorer than Mexico. They are NOT a threat to you. - LuaPron, on 12/04/2007, -1/+32No, the target is still Iran. They're just changing the excuse.
- carpespasm, on 12/04/2007, -1/+31dust off "bringing freedom", we havn't used that one in a while.
- pintomp3, on 12/04/2007, -9/+34considering how often we have been hearing how iran is a nuclear threat for the past few months, it will take more than one story to undo the propaganda.
- Waiting2awake, on 12/04/2007, -7/+31And yet the American people - being confronted on all sides by the corruption that has no loyalty to the Nation. The American people, hopefully, should all realize who their enemy is.
The question I have, is why hasn't there been more of a reaction to this thing. Mark my words, if these guys just leave the admin without war crime charges laid on them - America will have to be destroyed. The rest of the 6 billion people simply can not allow this to get any worse - and unless there is some huge punishment handed out to these clowns, the next clowns will just keep on keeping on - because the American have been neutered. - G-RaZoR, on 12/04/2007, -1/+22Digg needs to add a little box when submitting a story. So only the "Breaking" tag is on for a few hours, then it goes away. Users can also tell it to remove the tag, and make it go away faster.
- someguyouknow, on 12/04/2007, -1/+19Sadly, most Americans have been told so much that everyone around the world wants to kill them that they have bought into that. People need to wake the **** up.
It truly saddens AND angers me that so many people think this is acceptable behavior. - orangefly, on 12/04/2007, -2/+18this will make some good clips for the daily show....
iran is making nukes:
iran is not making nukes:
we never said iran was making nukes:
we never said iran is not making nukes - naevity, on 12/04/2007, -8/+24BREAKING: ALREADY ON THE FRONT PAGE!
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -2/+18in other news the US still stockpiles them.
- SoloMalee, on 12/04/2007, -3/+17"New intelligence saying Iran may not be developing nuclear weapons is nevertheless a "warning sign", US President George Bush has said.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7127198.stm
Is he stupid or something?
No, it is not a warning signal, it is an indication that he and his war mongering buddies are WRONG! - JasonCox, on 12/04/2007, -14/+27I don't care if this has made the front page 3 times already, I'm Digging it anyway because it's always good to see the Neocons get put in their place.
- bowens44, on 12/04/2007, -0/+13Surely by now you know not to expect anything that even vaguely resembles logic or truth from these lying, war mongering , bumbling psychos
- soheil33, on 12/04/2007, -3/+15My question to all of you is that even if Iran DID have nuclear weapons, WHY in the hell would they use it? I mean if anything the ONLY purpose it serves is that it will make sure that no country will try and invade Iran.. because realistically Iran knows that if they use their nuclear weapon on ANY country (Israel, cause they don't have the capability to reach Britain or United States) they would be BOMBARDED with 1000 nuclear bombs from States, and ISrael within 10 minutes. It's basically signing a death sentence.
And also about the argument of them giving "suitcase" nukes to hezbollah to detonate in Israel.. What exactly does this accomplish? Yes it will kill many jews, but will Palestinians be able to live there? NO.. the radiation will make that whole area not livable. So NO ONE wins in that case.
The ONLY Reason Iran wants a nuclear weapon is for defensive purposes in order to make sure no country tries to invade it like BOTH it's neighbors. - kooft, on 12/04/2007, -1/+13"...it is amazing that our 16 intel agencies are now in agreement...": even more critical is that they are in agreement, more or less, with the IAEA (the same group that was correct about Iraq's nuclear program)
"...we have been wrong for demonizing Iran for the past two years.": correction, that should be 4+ years (based on the nuclear program) or 30 years (based on overthrowing a dictator we installed). - xanjamanuo, on 12/04/2007, -1/+13EXACTLY - This is the same ***** we went through with Iraq. At least SOMEONE is trying to get the truth out there.
- devophl, on 12/04/2007, -1/+12I heard yesterday that this part of the NIE is old news and the White House has been sitting on it for over a year. Maybe someone threatened to leak this and the White House had to come clean. But you can see the Bush spin machine in motion since the release claiming that the continuing to enrich means Iran is stilling on track to make a nuclear weapon. This NIE changes nothing in Bush's mind.
- Cyclops0T8, on 12/04/2007, -0/+11Pakistan would NEVER attack China. China has been one of their only allies. They kept all international flights running to China, even when the rest of the world was boycotting them (years ago).
Secondly Pakistan may have nuclear weapons but they don't really have any weaponry (ex. missiles) to carry their nukes over long distances. The countries they can attack are Afghanistan (no point in attacking them with nukes), China (which the never would), and India. They wouldn't attack India because of MAD (mutually assured destruction). As long as both India and Pakistan have nukes, nothing will happen.
Secondly the nuclear weapons are effectively under the control of the military in all situations. The military is not the same group that support Osama Bin Laden. The people that support him are mainly from the tribal regions, who have almost nothing to do with governing the rest of the country. They have their own rules and are currently pissed off with the government for helping the states. - abuelos84, on 12/04/2007, -8/+19Since US is NOT the owner of the World, you have NO right to demand any explanation from nobody... First show yours...
- Waiting2awake, on 12/04/2007, -2/+13@Charlotte
I was born in 72, I have followed all the US' incursions into soverign nations while their populace swallowed whatever propaganda their government fed them.
The US refused to let te UN finish their job. That is a fact. The UN wanted to stay there and finish the inspections but they weren't finding anything - all that too is a matter of history. The US then went on the big anti-UN propaganda spiel, highlighted by the Bolton appointment(Which was also understood as the international slap of the member nations to appoint such a dufus, but that is just one more example of the endless parade of insults to the world the US has done in the last 6 years - but I digress)
Agreed that the Saddam was not living up to the letter of the law, that was impossed mainly by the US in the first place(but had support of other nations) - but those infractions, realitively speaking were of the jay-walking variety. On the flip side, we have Israel who was in violation of how many UN resolution(60+) being ignored entirely.
That would be tantamount to watching a cop beat and arrest someone for spitting on the sidewalk while holding the door open for the guy robbing the bank.
THAT is why the word turned against America - because to every single person outside the the US it was blatantly obvious that what the US was doing was making up the ***** as they went along - but to those within the US, they were hated because they have freedom.....
As before - wake up. - spoiled1, on 12/04/2007, -6/+16True, and I agree with pintomp3 too,
This story needs to come to the front page as many times as the words "Iran" and "WMD" has been spoken by this administration. - jonnyboy1544, on 12/04/2007, -0/+10What the hell are you talking about?
- Darksaber11, on 12/04/2007, -0/+10That would be awesome.
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -4/+14After 7 years of Bush rule, I have learned to understand his logic. Simply apply the opposite to whatever he says. If he says “Iraq have WMDs”, they actually don’t. And if he says, “Iran is developing nuclear weapon”, guess what, they are actually not. If Bush says jump, you better walk. If he says walk, you better stand still. Its that simply
- nirav72, on 12/04/2007, -0/+9too bad no one on the daily show to write it right now..due to the strike. Would've been funny though. Jon Stewart knows how to present it well.
- TonyG2021, on 12/04/2007, -6/+15Am I going crazy but WTF is this administration still doing in office! ARGH!
- SpacePoet, on 12/04/2007, -0/+9It seems it's as if this administration doesn't trust the CIA to do its' job, or at least the job they want them to do. Ever wonder why Bush wouldn't use the CIA for the run-up to the Iraq war? The CIA is a clandestine group that while I don't particularly agree with their methods, they typically know what is going on in the world, being that it's their job...
- Waiting2awake, on 12/04/2007, -7/+16 You know - you won't like it, and you'll probably blame some other people - but you know who you guys are going to bomb next....it's you.
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -0/+9I've been using Digg for well over a year, it seems like and I've noticed that it has become incredibly slow about getting important stories to the frontpage in a timely manner. Reddit has become MUCH better with this. Every time I check Digg in the morning, I just see the same stories that were on Reddit...24 hours ago! And Digg has more users!
- bowens44, on 12/04/2007, -4/+13This is something we all knew from the start. There has never been any evidence presented that Iran was actively seeking nuclear weapons. For the CIA to finally be allowed to go public with the truth is a major step toward restoring the credibility that the bush administration destroyed.
No war with Iran? Don't bet on it. This administration doesn't need a reason. - Waiting2awake, on 12/04/2007, -3/+11Charlotte - and everyone else..maybe you guys can help me here - Which is the terrorist country that has invaded another country? Which is the terrorists country that has secret prisons?
Guys wake the hell up - they are of no threat to you and if you'd just stop being so reactive you'd see the only people pulling the strings here are the same ones that lied to you about Iraq in the first place....
Jees talk about fool me once..... - delafere, on 12/04/2007, -0/+8Maybe they could also fix the "session expired" error when they release that excellent enhancement.
- manfromfuture, on 12/04/2007, -3/+11Not that I don't trust the website crooks and Liars, but perhaps it would be better to digg up the story from the LA times, which appeared earlier I think.
- objectcode, on 12/04/2007, -0/+8how does not wanting to start another war make people love Iran?
- Bagos1, on 12/04/2007, -0/+8I agree with this. Be more worried about who already has the technology and who can export it....and who the proxy support is.
- RealmDown, on 12/04/2007, -4/+12We don't have to verify it. After all, they PROMISED.
- Saxonx, on 12/04/2007, -3/+10I am watching Bush giving his speech. It seems to me that the war is still on. He still believes "Iran needs to be taken seriously as a threat to peace", Lieberman and Cheney aren't worried.
- pintomp3, on 12/04/2007, -5/+12the goal was to go to war on behalf of israel. that's why israel is now trying to deny the report.
- pintomp3, on 12/04/2007, -1/+8and remains the only country to have used them on a civilian population.
- rupprupp29, on 12/04/2007, -0/+7And besides, if they lied, we'll just get the UN to write them a nasty letter.
- inactive, on 12/04/2007, -3/+103tcp = moron and useless
- bratpack8, on 12/04/2007, -7/+14Now they really need a 'Gulf of Tonkin' incident to light the fuse...
