- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -14/+772Unbelievable. The method to their madness is coming out. This is not acceptable. We have no clue who Palin is, yet this country is ready to turn the keys to The House over to someone we've just met. This woman has to show she has some substance to her, that she can handle conversations with Heads of State other than asking if they have any children. She has to prove to us she is more than a pretty container.
McCain is giving the appearance he is trying to dodge the debate this Friday, making us wonder if he's too worn out from his campaigning on the road, or whether he just isn't ready for a one-on-one with Obama.
None of this is acceptable! - sjsuarez, on 09/24/2008, -9/+496I think, Obama needs to still show up on Friday, with or without McCain. The University has already invested the money -- or Palin and Biden need to debate on Friday. If Obama shows up, then Palin and Biden still have to do their debate on the 2nd. Palin shouldn't be allowed a free pass....
- MelvinSchlubman, on 09/24/2008, -20/+379She could debate Biden over who'll win the Stanley Cup, eh?

Uhm....after watching this I absolutely agree with their attempt to cancel the VP debate. She doesn't have a ***** CHANCE.
THAT was ***** embarrassing to watch.
WHY THE ***** IS THIS EVEN CLOSE?!?!
"My understanding is that...."
"Yeah, but isn't that a conflict of interest"

'My understanding is that..." - seddyei, on 09/24/2008, -11/+265Whether or not McCain shows up, Obama has to be available to debate and speak on Friday. That being said, all this news worries me that the conniving Rovean advisers running McCain's campaign have some diabolical scheme up their sleeves in the coming weeks. I smell something wrong.

"McCain trying to move election to 4 weeks ago when he led in the polls." - MalarkeyPN, on 09/24/2008, -8/+193This is a total non-sequitor. Delaying the presidential debates is a stretch in and of itself, but what would be the purpose of delaying them specifically to the day of the veep debates? Why not have one on one day and the other on the next?
Clearly the McCain camp wants fewer debates. They are just falling apart. McCain's campaign has become a mockery of itself. - paintgrl, on 09/24/2008, -12/+178What a joke, to bad I am not laughing. What complete disregard McCain and CO. have for us the American people. What arrogance! I am just wondering why the McCain group thinks it can get away with this complete farce. This behavior degrades the honor and value of the presidency and our political system.

And cancelling the VP debate ..... if you can't stand the searing heat of the VP position Mrs Palin you shouldn't have jumped into the fire. - ambiguus, on 09/24/2008, -7/+152I think it's gonna take more than an extra week or two for Sarah Palin to get enough study-time in for a debate against Joe Biden. Stop postponing and get this over with.
Keep the schedule on for Friday, and if McCain doesn't show, then making it an open question session for Obama...why not let Nader or Barr step in for McCain then? - specker, on 09/25/2008, -4/+126seems like a president should be able to multitask
- voteobama4, on 09/25/2008, -8/+108My impression was they are trying to POSTPONE the VP debate, not cancel it, and have the first presidential debate in its spot.
This was already an obvious political gimmick, but now McCain is trying to kill two birds with one stone and give Palin extra study time for her debate. I could see the campaign using this same logic later to cancel the thing altogether.
I am seriously worried that people won't see this for what it is and allow it to sway their vote. I mean, on the surface it seems like a well-intentioned idea, but when you consider the campaign they've run -- including calling the New York Times an "Obama advocacy organization" (an utterly ridiculous claim) just a few hours before this announcement -- it's obvious this is nothing more than a desperate attempt to scrounge up votes. If it wasn't, wouldn't he have done this right away instead of continuing to attack Obama?
Besides, what can McCain really bring to the table. I mean, he admits he doesn't understand the economy, so his presence is just going to be a spectacle and a HUGE distraction. We need congress to get some real work done for once. - SimmaDownNow, on 09/25/2008, -7/+92Good Lord, they must really REALLY disrespect the American people. To think that we are so dumb to fall for this *****. Any Republican that defends these tactics as nothing more that COWARDICE, can't possibly be American. Throw away your lapel pins, get rid of your flags, because you are supporting COWARDS!
- MommaKatz, on 09/25/2008, -5/+88this is NOT shocking news at all. This is exactly why he's insisting on canceling the debate, because there will be no time to reschedule the VP debate. It's such a transparent move and I hope like hell Obama sticks to his guns and calls him on it!
- bongfarmer, on 09/25/2008, -5/+84Maybe they can hold the debates after the election
- Ralphdraw3, on 09/25/2008, -2/+80If McCain want to cancel the debate by his not showing - unilaterally - then that is his business; he will be depriving the American people of information they need.
The PALIN-BIDEN debate should go on regardless of what happens with McCain's antics and to-ing and fro-ing. They should debate on Thursday regardless.. - daGUY, on 09/25/2008, -5/+83This is such ***** I can't believe it. Suddenly he has to cancel everything to run to Washington and save the economy? What happened to "the fundamentals of our economy are strong"?! You know, like 3 days ago?
I don't like this, at all. He's trying to pull something that I think is much more sinister than what's being let on. Here's hoping it backfires on him. - dn11, on 09/25/2008, -2/+77from youtube title: "Katie Couric (liberal activist)"
Katie Couric is the queen of softball questions. If you can't stand up to Couric you're screwed. That said, those answers were absolutely pathetic. "He is also known as THE maverick... I'll try and find some examples and bring em to ya" ... "Go back and look at track records". Ok Sarah, stop blocking troopergate. Allow your record of corruption and incompetence to be exposed to the light of day - oldgal, on 09/24/2008, -8/+80from The Karl Rove Playbook:
page 3: There is never a good idea that is too small to steal and use as your own.
page 3: Put spies everywhere so that you can steal the opponent's ideas. This is most effective when you get to the media with it first. - future15tbd, on 09/25/2008, -2/+73If Biden and Palin were to debate on this Friday, that would cut a week off Palin's cramming to get the answers memorized.
- wherearemymeds, on 09/25/2008, -1/+70Obama has already issued several statements that he WILL be there. Also, the Univ. has too. Don't worry. Obama actually keeps his word and doesn't give it unless he means it. Can't wait for Friday night!
- EtherGnat, on 09/25/2008, -2/+67Too be fair it's really not a big deal. McCain just didn't realize the debate conflicted with Matlock, and he hasn't learned how to program the VCR.
- DFutureIsNow, on 09/25/2008, -6/+70McCain is scared to debate Obama, Palin is scared to debate Biden. Maybe Obama and Biden should just have a debate between themselves, the way this is going McCain will just want to forfeit the election as a whole, due to... mental health issues a.k.a loosing his freaking marbles
- xartion, on 09/25/2008, -3/+66Absolutely. *****. Ridiculous.
- streak, on 09/25/2008, -0/+62McCain's proposal includes holding the VP debate 3 weeks later, in Mississipi where this Friday's presidential debate is supposed to be held. In other words, McCain's antics are all about giving Palin 3 more weeks to study the few tiny issues that exist outside of Alaska, she is *that* bad.
- bigbangbuddha, on 09/25/2008, -0/+60Hey, don't pawn her off on Canada now, we don't want her.
- ebolaworld, on 09/25/2008, -4/+59Imagine what the media would be saying if Obama requested all these changes.
- JLSN, on 09/25/2008, -4/+58Is Caribou Barbies excuse from the debate that she is working on the bailout too. Oh wait a minute, that would be Biden. Barbie has no role in DC.
Being a Senator, is sort of like being a Governor, except you have actual responsibilities in Washington DC.
Barbie, this ***** aint gonna fly. - Dustin00, on 09/25/2008, -3/+54The Pigbull needs more lipstick!
MORE LIPSTICK! - kcpistol, on 09/25/2008, -3/+54Oh she's working on a bailout all right - bailing out of the debate that is!
- Paster101, on 09/25/2008, -5/+55wow they just keep trying to hide palin as much as they can dont they. wow idiots. let her talk lets see what they are made of. they are running scared. cowards.
- GardenRetreat, on 09/25/2008, -7/+56Surprise surprise McCain wants the vp debate canceled.. What a convoluted way of protecting palin from being questioned..but I don't put it past him..I think he is looking pretty desperate..
- TheFounder, on 09/25/2008, -10/+57She freaking had a witch doctor cure her... with cameras rolling!!
http://www.tribbleagency.com/?p=2337 - locojones, on 09/25/2008, -1/+48I like that McCain is the most absentee Senator in Congress (missing 80% of all votes) but now insists that he has to go to Washington to do his job. It's laughable. Clearly, his Congressional position wasn't important enough to him to take time away from his campaign, and now his public vetting before the American public is suddenly not important enough than his vote in the Senate. Which is it John?
And for a man who was throwing down the "let's debate all the way from town halls to national televised events," gauntlet, McCain sure isn't living up to his challenge. - READY2000, on 09/25/2008, -4/+49straight escape express
- ironhide, on 09/25/2008, -9/+54oh you mean the invitation-only (and McCain supporters only) town halls? I can't imagine why Obama wouldn't want to attend one of those.
- DThatsMe, on 09/25/2008, -0/+45Holy *****. That was bad. Did she really even say ANYTHING?
- PhilLesh69, on 09/25/2008, -1/+46Not 3 more weeks to study, 3 more weeks for the campaign staff to come up with a better reason to not have her debate at all.
Don't forget, she believes that the world is going to end in her lifetime, and she believes that God directs world and human events like a movie director or a screenwriter.
I think even many conservatives would be uncomfortable voting for a ticket where the VP believes that if she became President, it was God's will, knowing that she also believes God is going to show her his plan, and that could mean that once she has the launch codes, she has to help God by launching all the nukes.
All the good christians will be raptured moments before the nukes she launches hit their targets, so she knows she'll be partying with Jesus up in the clouds when the world ends at her hands. Because that is what God's plan is. - seddyei, on 09/25/2008, -4/+46LOL... you got that right Akbar
- GregFD3S, on 09/25/2008, -3/+45What a douche.
- Berkana, on 09/25/2008, -1/+42Aiyo! >_< Somebody give her a tiara and send her back to Alaska!
That was almost as incomprehensible and awkward to listen to as Miss South Carolina's answer on why a fifth of Americans can't find the US on world maps:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww - Berkana, on 09/25/2008, -2/+43What I want to know is what a war hero who's been through 5 years of a Viet Cong prison camp and an Alaskan "pitbull" are afraid of.
- seantubridy, on 09/25/2008, -4/+44NO ***** WAY! Don't you dare you slimy bastards!
This has to be illegal right? I mean, can someone who is going to be next in line to the presidency not ever have to face her rival in a debate?
I am so ***** livid right now. - weech, on 09/25/2008, -0/+40WTF is going on in this election??
- YEEK, on 09/25/2008, -3/+42How stupid do they think we are?
Oh... uh... never mind. - lolupissed, on 09/25/2008, -1/+39Holy *****....she sounds retarded. I could answer better than her, and I don't consider myself a public speaker or even a people person for that matter.
- elipabst, on 09/25/2008, -0/+37Wow, that was painful to watch.
- seddyei, on 09/25/2008, -4/+41Yeah, we're on the verge of a financial meltdown and we need McCain to stop his PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN to do what? Vote?! Because that's all he can ***** do you idiot - do you really think McCain is going to make any difference? It's a stalling tactic, a political stunt. How much more clear could it be...?
I think the American public would much rather hear the candidates speak on Friday as they had agreed to do on WHAT THEY WILL DO to help our country get out of this rut. Don't you think that's more important? -
