- ffejrey, on 10/21/2007, -2/+17Glad my vote for Feingold went to some good use.
- Caffeinate, on 10/21/2007, -0/+7Agree. Nancy Pelosi is absolutely worthless. When she rebuked Pete Stark for finally having the balls to speak honestly, it became clear to me exactly what the problem is for the Democrats in the House of Representatives: Pelosi. She is completely out of touch with the Democrats that voted her into office, and Harry Reid can hitch a ride with her on his way out, too, as far as I am concerned. I didn't feel this way six months ago, and was supportive of Pelosi during the trip to Iraq deal that Republicans tried to make so much out of. Now it is clear, though, that the only thing she is interested in is keeping her position and doesn't give a damn about the country.
She is as bad as the Republicans because she just sits back and allows the ***** to continue.- caferrell, on 10/21/2007, -0/+3I agree 100% Caffeinate. Nancy Pelosi has done everything that the Bushies have rquested, and then whe has turned her bugeyed face to te cameras to cry that there is nothing that can be done to stop the Republican juggernaut. She has to go
Dodd/Feingold would make a good Democrat ticket!

The telecoms insult the collective intelligence of the American people by saying they did nothing wrong while at the same time requesting immunity. If they are innocent they will have their day in court to prove it. That's the American way.
Thank you Senator Dodd.- b4gone, on 10/21/2007, -7/+0What happened to innocent until proven guilty...shouldn't you have said they will have their day in court for someone else to prove they're guilty?
- TwistedSheep, on 10/21/2007, -0/+6uhh, they have already had a few 'days in court' and they are getting their asses handed to them. Every lawyer looking at the circumstances agrees this was so god damn illegal of them to do, they never should have thought it wasn't.
- buckrogers1965, on 10/21/2007, -0/+1I'm thinking that them trying to pass laws to retroactively make their crimes legal is a pretty clear admission of guilt.

- akatsuki, on 10/21/2007, -0/+27Seriously, I was wondering if anyone in DC actually had the slightest bit of ethics whatsoever. Honestly this country has been quickly slipping into tyranny, much like Rome, and if only honest men speak up will we have a chance of avoiding it.
- nihilite, on 10/21/2007, -0/+8Ethics don't get a man elected, money does. If you, as the little guy, do not give money to support candidates with integrity (insert plug for kucinich/paul/nadar here) you will get the ones paid for by big business.

- fuzzmeister, on 10/21/2007, -1/+3Exactly my feelings about Ron Paul. I can respect his message, especially when concerning the Bush administration, but I disagree with him on almost everything else.
- accvrat, on 10/21/2007, -8/+2Thanks Mr. Dodd, But you are a pebble in front of the rolling rock. Protection of the Homeland, umm Motherland, No wait Fatherland... I Forget... = Trump........... if a terrorist so much as yells loudly here before 2008, the debate will be over and america will wet itself rushing to vote for a neocon. "Pvt. - DavidtheDuke, on 10/20/2007, -1/+2Too bad he's right. Most people would just laugh at the 'terrorist', but those in power will use it as a lame excuse to get past the few people that actually attempt to do anything about it.

- Curlz31, on 10/22/2007, -8/+22The Ron Paul honesty bug is spreading......Senator Dodd, all you have to do now is renounce your membership in CFR and AIPAC, say pre-emptive war is immoral and filibuster iraq war funding and you'll be part of the revolution.
- mkwilliams, on 10/22/2007, -19/+3Yeah, all we can hope for is that it the "bug" is lethal. Ron Paul, lmfao! What a moron. I guess that the Republicans needed a Mike Gravel type candidate; only Paul is more like a cross between Kucinich and Clinton.
- falseleftright, on 10/22/2007, -3/+7You are a cross between stupidity and ignorance, I can't decide which is the dominant trait though.

- mkwilliams, on 10/21/2007, -15/+2This is leadership!?! LOL! Usually "leadership" has some support.....doesn't seem that Harry and The Clowns in the Democrat Senate agree with Dodd. I say let him filibuster. I want to see how long he stands alone debating an empty senate chamber. Probably not long because liberals have great "leadership" skills but NO principles or convictions so he likely wont be there long before he folds like a cheap accordion! BUM, get out of the race.
WE WANT HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we can finally, once and for all, expose and SINK the Clinton's!- HandsomeRuss, on 10/20/2007, -0/+2You ought to learn what a filibuster actually is before making stupid posts like this.
- cotaskmemalloc, on 10/22/2007, -18/+14BREAKING: You're not real journalists, this isn't 'breaking' news, and putting 'BREAKING' in front of every goddamn story makes you sound like a ***** idiot.
- falseleftright, on 10/21/2007, -3/+5There are very few actual journalists left, at least here, they are expressing their views, and not those of their corporate masters.
Breaking, your comment adds nothing to the discussion, buried.
- falseleftright, on 10/21/2007, -3/+5There are very few actual journalists left, at least here, they are expressing their views, and not those of their corporate masters.
- skews13, on 10/21/2007, -4/+1the only thing i have found interesting about this story from the beginning,is that people actually believe this was put in place for their protection.
theres one born every miniute.- Identity4, on 10/21/2007, -1/+5born? noo....idiots are conditioned. they take nice innocent young minds and through poor education, bad television, and ignorant uninformed parents morph them into fearful apathetic fatsos.
- pidey, on 10/21/2007, -9/+1While I like what he is doing, and disagree with the bill he is stopping, I don't think he should be able to do this. Why is it possible for ONE person to do so much to oppose a bill, wasn't the constitution built on requiring a majority of the votes?
- krnldmp, on 10/21/2007, -1/+7If you've been paying attention to American policy lately you'd know there are emergencies when the opinion of one man need be heeded strongly in order to save the State. This ain't the first time either.
- duffahtolla, on 10/21/2007, -1/+5The filibuster can be closed with cloture, a 3/5ths vote (60 votes since all must vote) for the senate to continue pandering to Bush and Co. He's going to force the Dems to make a choice. Go with him or Go with Bush. This way it will be on record and they can't say that there was nothing they could do to prevent the bill ala Pelosi.
- StarlessKnight, on 10/21/2007, -1/+3Congress was designed/intended to pass as little legislation as possible. The more law gets passed, the more likely someone amasses control over the people. Not all law is bad, but there's a good host of law that is not good. As duffahtolla said, if Congress is really set on passing this bill, they can override the fillabuster and then prove just how corrupt they really are. (Again?)
- WallyAnti, on 10/20/2007, -1/+5I like the man. He not only tells you what he intends to do, but how he intends to do it. I'll take practicality over those other starry eyed dreamers promises any day.
- skihigh2002, on 10/21/2007, -2/+6I haven't paid much attention to Chris Dodd... however, with this bold and courageous move he has one my attention and support... Wait a minute. This move is neither bold nor courageous. This is the RIGHT thing to do! It shouldn't take one man standing up to say this is wrong. The Democrats should realize this. It's so frustrating to have supported the minority party for so long with the belief that they would do something to change the way this administration has screwed this country. But the Democrats have not! Reid and Pelosi have only proved that they are in the pocket of the corporate lobbies just as much as the Republicans. For the sake of the Republic, we must stop these people!
- planckstudios, on 10/21/2007, -3/+5I care about our constitution and I agree with Chris Dodd. But I don't understand why he needs our contributions to do the job he's already receiving a salary for.
- netant, on 10/21/2007, -2/+3Its contributions to his Presidential race. He gets money, he gets to put up commercials saying how Hillary & Bush want the telecommunication companies to help the gov't spy on you.
You can be really cynical, give him money, even though you don't want him to be president, but he'll still push the FISA issues to the forefront, particularly, if he can take voter share from Obama and Edwards. (I don't think he'll take away any Hillary supporters. They'll gladly give up their Constitutional rights, and feed their childrens' lives into the Iraq occupation, as long as a "woman" despot becomes president.)

- scarsxrunxdeep, on 10/21/2007, -6/+2Glad to see someone in the Senate is working to protect our rights, but what the hell is up with this quote from his website: "Restore the Constitution. Help us raise $100,000. As we get closer to our goal, we'll restore the Constitution."
We now have to contribute money to our congressmen in order for them to "restore the Constitution"? Aren't our taxes enough?- duffahtolla, on 10/21/2007, -1/+4He wants to restore the Constitution by running for president. Thats what the donation is for. It took a president to shred it, it will take a president to mend it.
- cowboy86, on 10/20/2007, -1/+2***** Bush
- DivineLackey, on 10/20/2007, -1/+2Actually it took a congress to shred it, they did it FOR the president. It'll take a congress to mend it. Presidents don't legislate, they veto or they sign :p A proper congress wanting to restore the consitution can do so and override any presidential veto [granted it IS more difficult, but a president helps congress restore or shred, he CANNOT do it alone].
- DivineLackey, on 10/21/2007, -2/+1Wrong spot :P

- blackmage439, on 10/21/2007, -1/+3Ironic, isn't it? Congress has been taking a lot of action recently... if you consider passing "non-binding resolutions" (aka hot air) taking action. Yet, I see no beneficial results to Congress' actions. Maybe taking NO action through a filibuster is just what those pigs need to wake up.

Whoo hoo for Dodd. - LouisEdith, on 10/22/2007, -2/+3Bravo Bravo Bravo!!! Thank you senator Dodd for being a true American patriot in the face of all the pressure you will endure from the Neo-cons and indeed the spineless (bought and sold) Democratic leadership. I think any Democrat that kowtowed to, or participated in, this dictatorial expansion of executive power, and the blatant infringement on the Constitution, at the expense of the American people - in the name of "TERRORISM" should be REPLACED whenever their election cycle comes up. The Military Commissions Act, warrantless wiretapping, shredding of Habeas Corpus, practicing torture, Extraordinary Rendition, secret prisons - all in our name.
It is time that Americans stand up to "politics as usual", and say HELL NO!, it is time that we stop allowing the president and our elected officials to get away with these flagrant violations of trust as though we are a bunch of idiots - we need to mount campaigns against them, and say NO MORE, NO MORE, and mean it. Hit their email, faxes, and phones – and scream as loud as hell. Join up with any politician(s) campaigning against them - layout the complaints, and make them vow/pledge to do the job they were elected to do, and uphold the Constitution and the BOR's. - dilpil1, on 10/21/2007, -1/+4Well, someone just got my attention.
