- sb66, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18We can't afford a luxury like health care for children, we need that money for making war and lining the pockets of our big business cronies.
- vatosplace, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1830 Billion in military handouts for Israel over the next 10 years is fine, but to hell with sick American children. The total cost of SCHIP would only fund the Occupation of Iraq for 41 days.
Sickening. - thewump, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12How come I hear about this stuff first on digg, second on the BBC, and third in the US media?
- way2muchsense, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13Bush is an idiot. That is all.
Congress should shift 100% to investigation mode and forget about trying to pass legislation. Why? Because Bush is an idiot and all your hard work will just get *****. The only way you'll ever get anything constructive done between now and January 2009 is to insert it into something Bush wants, like money for Iraq. That's how the minimum wage increase got approved. - synthpop, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9so this is what America has come to? they just approved 190 billion for this POS war but Bush won't allow kids to get health insurance
- EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Man, I've read your ***** for a while now. And I've come to the conclusion that you're a paid GOP troll. Go away.
Bush's actions are indefensible. Children can't fend for themselves. They ALWAYS need handouts, preferably from their parents, but if not, then from the rest of us. We don't let our nation's children just die. Or at least we shouldn't. - vatosplace, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6The funniest part to me is he doesn't bother to check his spam for spelling or grammer, whoever is paying this troll is getting ripped off.
- zappo1776, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Why does he hate the childrens so?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It's pretty obvious he's working for one of the right wing moron sites.
I'm guessing college kid, too ***** dumb to pay attention, watching Fox news and not knowing any better.
What's funny is there is a "sharkbump" on ebay that buys lots of little animal dolls. - EntropyMan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Sad, huh, especially considering that Digg's front page has a 2-24 hour latency from when the story is first posted.
- shawnfassett, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7whats really sad is that people that are poor and without health insurance for their children will still vote for the GOP. they have shown you who they really are over and over and you still choose to vote against your own self-interest. all because you'd rather hate the gays or minorities and live in constant fear of a bogeyman.
- DaFunk, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6If you want to get upset at a 22 year-old mother of 4 who has spent her whole life on welfare even though she's able-bodied, that's one thing. It's another thing to deny funding for a sick child who has done nothing "wrong" other than to have been born into a bad situation. A dependent adult leeching off of the government and a sick child receiving care are two completely different situations.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5"Do you see a problem here?"
Yes, the problem is that the USA doesn't provide health care for it's citizens. Thanks for pointing that out. - falseleftright, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3But but, No Child Left Behind has gotta count for something, hiccup~*
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3idiot spammers get reported.

- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Keep digging that hole, Mr. Idiot in Chief. A veto-proof, super majority is just months away. We couldn't be more please to have you doing you bestest to help us along. Muchos Gracias! Leave no independent behind.
- Zackypooh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I heard about this on msnbc... yesterday!
- ghank, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2here is the US media flow chart:
Brangolina > Brittney > terror level colors > Commercials > local sports > weather > actual news - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Because the mainstream, corporate media has an agenda and it's completely at odds with that of The People. The '4th' branch has completely sold it's soul for the almighty profit and will do everything to maintain control of the message in order to keep the status quo.
- SeethisPass, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Arrest Impeach stop the madness.
- hawkeye17, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The only people that make $80k and qualify are those families with multiple children who live in extremely expensive areas of the country. Maybe you should actually read the legislation before looking stupid here talking about something you know nothing about. $35billion to insure over 1 million American children is an investment that won bi-partisan support. Bush just asked Congress for $190billion MORE to fund his nightmare in Iraq/Afghanistan and he can't allow $35billion for the health of over 1 million US kids? THAT is disgraceful and inhuman and if you can't see that then your in the same boat as Bush.
- scottknick, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Sing with me now:
George Bush hates the little children
All the little children of the world;
Red and yellow, black and white,
He has got them in his sights
George Bush hates the little children of the world! - bagelpirate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is already in the top stories on the main page
- hawkeye17, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I used to think Bush was just an idiot. Now I know he's a small-minded, childish, mean spirited, immoral prick who is borderline evil.
- colin409, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What's with the crossed out smiley face? Is that your way of telling us you are unhappy? We don't need an icon to realize you're miserable.
- reeder, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Bush is a monster.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3We pay for your kids education (if you have any....god I hope not) I don't drive but I pay for your roads.
- Smight, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4Alternate headline: Bush Vetoes regressive tax on the poor.
This was a 150% increase on the national cigarette tax and would pay for childrens healthcare when parents make up to $83,000. more than half of cigarette sales are to families who's combined income(for a family of 4) is less than $50,000. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2"Won't somebody please think of the children"
- psuchad, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3Come on people. The bill provided free health care to kids whose parents make up to $80,000. Do you see a problem here? You should. Thousands of people who could actually pay for health care would jump onto the free program.
In addition it would introduce taxes on tobacco to pay for it. That's all fine and good until tobacco sales drop or tobacco is banned. Then where do you think the money will come from? They are not going to drop the program, just the source of revenue. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3We don't provide everyone with a car and a nice pair of shoes either.
I doubt you'd feel too good about paying for anything that goes to me and mine anyway ya' rotten hypocrite. - Simcom, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1dupe
- Zackypooh, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1BREAKING: STORIES WITH ANNOYING TITLES GET MANY DIGGS.

and this is hardly breaking. - Zackypooh, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1BREAKING: STORIES WITH ANNOYING TITLES GET MANY DIGGS.
and this is hardly breaking. - mattc908, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1I hate to break it to Digg............
A. its not breaking everyone knew he was and
B. GOOD, half of the children already had healthcare.
C. I hate to be the evil one but when was it the governments job to give people health care
D. Why must people say things like bush hates children and wants them to suffer, he just rather put that money to the war. WTF is wrong with you people.
E. THE MONEY FOR THIS PLAN is from tobacco products there just gonna raise the tax on them around .70$
Its just one more step to universal health care, the only people who's jobs dont provide it for them, and I hate again to be the evil one..... it will be the job of people who can pay for health that pay for the people who cant. Its not my job SORRY.

What is Digg?
