- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+42I wish Republicans would be consistent. Instead, we get this:
"The UN wants everyone to recognize that freedom of religion is a universal right among all peoples. Those bastards want us to sign away our Constitution!"
"George Bush says that the right to a fair trial is aiding terrorists, so he's getting rid of it. Thank God for our Republican rulers!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+46Unfortunately, he is an *****. You can't have a diplomat who is unable to be diplomatic. Good riddance.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+48Sweet! I HATED that dude's mustache. He can't represent America with a mustache like that.
- miketrin, on 10/12/2007, -24/+56That guy had zero diplomatic skills, he was a hot headed inconsiderate jack ass and I hope he moves back to Israel. Now we can get someone that has the skills and puts America first, not Israel!
This is a good thing. - runbmd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+342step and ovation, how many accounts are you going to create TODAY to point out your friend's blog?
- spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33well, I'm glad. I always hated his music.
- satanatnmtedu, on 10/12/2007, -7/+31How is this a resignation? He was snuck in because he would not be confirmed by Congress. Now that his backdoor appointment is up, he will not confirmed again. And, the backdoor method will not work.
His term is up. There is no resignation. - dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -19/+43Why do we need a democratic lapdog when we already have the current administrator to dissolve our constitution?
- runbmd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16You mean when I posted it?
- StevoCJ, on 10/12/2007, -10/+23Isn't this the guy who thinks the UN is a complete waste of time and has various other strongly held and misinformed views (in pretty much the same way Bush and Cheney do)?
- blahblah, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Warty is right... the man is scum. This isn't exactly "lib propaganda".
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/07/23/mideast.bolton/index.html
Why do people complain about the UN being ineffectual? Every time the potential for progress is put on the table, the US vetoes it. - badgey, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20"I'm sorry sir, but... you've lost."
"I CAN'T LOSE! I RESIGN! HA HA HA HA HA! *pulls cape over shoulder and exits room*" - prizepatrol, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15I agree about the moustache. I often confused him with actor Wilford Brimley. But for someone who remarked that removing floors from the UN building might be an improvement, he sounded as bad as those terrorists who decided to do the same with the World Trade Center.
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15train mutated turtles to become fearsome fighting machines?
- L0t3k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13
If we were entirely consistent, that would mean that we never really thought for ourselves. Personally, I like hearing disagreement within the ranks... it means people actually have opinions. :) - andreo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11How do you resign from a job you never officially had? If that's the case I'll be sending out my resignation from position of Supreme Commander of the Pepsi corporation today. And I want my severance pay directly deposited into my bank account before COB Friday.
Unless Bolton has decided to resign from the human race. In that case I supposed we need to get him a nice Titan missile to get him on his way back to the moon where he belongs. - hipnerd, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Bolton couldn't get his nomination through a GOP-controlled Congress. There is no way in hell he would be able to get approved now that the Dems are in charge.
This is a rather pathetic attempt to let Bush pretend that he would have stood by his man, when, in truth, he would have thrown him under the bus. Bush sold Bolton out so that he could avoid a fight he couldn't win. - freff, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14You sir, have a firm grasp of the theater that is the Bush administration nowadays.
Bravo. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11we will get a new appointment before bush leaves office and bolton was ahted by many republicans as well. The entire reasons bolton got a recess appointment was bush couldnt get him through the GOP controlled congress. SO dont lay this crap at the feet of the dems because bolton isnt liked on either side of the aisle.
- halik, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12So you basically paraphrased GDubb...
- HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9he's not resigning or quitting or whatnot, he's being ousted.
- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11@ChronicColonic:
But he was an *****. And people don't like dealing with *****. So if he had a spine or not doesn't matter. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Hm. Well, it was a joke. Admittedly, not a very good one.
- schraged, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16John Bolton has led the way in attempting to push through some much needed reform at the U.N. The Senate’s inability to get Presidential nominations to a full Senate up or down confirmation vote is ludicurous. It threatens not only this president from advancing a national foreign and domestic policy agenda, it sets the precedent for any minority in the Senate to be able to cripple a president based on nothing more than partisan politics. During many of the Judicial nomination there was lots of discussion about a “nuclear option” or “constitutional option” depending on which side of the debate you were on. I was opposed to it then and still am. Rather than change the Senate rules to prevent or break Fillibusters, Senate leadership should have forced those opposed to the nomination to actually Fillibuster… Senators like Robert KKK Byrd (who was for the fillibuster before he was against it) could have provided us hours of entertainment with his mothers chicken soup recipe…
http://morningcoffee.wordpress.com/2006/12/04/bolton-resigns/ - ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12"Why aren't you libtards bitching about all the flagrant violations of human rights that go on every day of the world in Arab/Muslim countries? Oh that's right, you'll say whatever it takes to help turn the country over to Bin Laden so the Europeans will like us again due to our extreme tolerance and enlightenment."
How about we worry about our OWN country's violations before we start ***** up other countries. Iraq is now officially WORSE than when saddam was in power. Why are you so worried about bin laden? Your president doesn't care about him, why should you right? He was so intent on bin laden that he attacked a completely different country, for completely made up reasons and destabilized the entire region and has CREATED more terrorists than killed. I can't believe any crack-baby is so stupid to still support what bush has done over there, but I'm guessing you got dropped a few times too. - freff, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11"he liberals inability to work with anyone across the aisle is just indicative of the growing problems we are going to face when Pelosi takes over."
You have got to be kidding. Obviously you've missed the last 6 years if you think that it's "liberals" who can't work across the aisle. - JoeForGovernor, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11It is about time! I believe many of us felt that he was unfit for the job as U.N. Ambassador. I think he was merely appointed to that position to demonstrate the Bush administrations frustration with the U.N. Hopefully this will usher in a new era multilateral-ism and cooperation.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Thank god for this.
milk mustache boy was not the right person, gw showed his contempt for everyone else in the world when he appointed this jerk to the UN.
Unfortunately there are two more years where, bushie boy gets to pick another neocon loser to replace bolton. - Judahgabriel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9No, a majority of the comments are from left wing atheists. The rest of us are just here to help balance things out and make it a fair argument.
- William01, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8@Herkimer56
I would be surprised if he didn't disagree with the Vietnam War just as strongly as he disagrees with this war. I know I do.
The difference is the Vietnam War isn't going on right now. It ended over 20 years ago, and there's nothing we can do to change it now. - venicerocco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Two down, about 40 more to go.
- basye, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15Now if Karl Rove would just resign/get fired that would be an even sweeter x-mas present!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11@ NoStoppingUs
"show me one thing the UN has done in the last 10 years."
-Ooh, let's say, *ending apartheid in South Africa*.
You can say thanks anytime.
"...show me one person in there besides bolton who is standing up to NK and Iran, as well as trying to rid the UN of corruption."
- Oh, please. Anyone other than Bolton did a better job. Bolton criticised NK's human rights openly, leading to them refusing to discuss anything with him. This was a MAJOR factor in the failure to stop their weapons program. Translation if you are too stupid: without Bolton in there, we may have stopped NK from getting the bomb.
Now, I don't want to get in the way of your drinking up all that right wing koolaid *****, but if you pulled your head out of the sand for a moment, you'd realise that the UN has done a lot of good in this world. A cursory glance thru history over the last 30 years might help.
Yes, of course it is rife with bureaucracy & corrupt members, but it's the best thing we have right now towards preventing wars before they happen and enforcing human rights laws across the planet. Fat lot of good the Bush Administration has done for world peace or human rights. - hmmmok, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Don't say that to the "efficiency experts"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11A monkey in a Tuxedo is still a monkey....
I am glad he is leaving. - bbarr97, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5What a failure the bush administration has been?
Let us be honest here. It’s more like "What a failure our government has been." Everyone is so caught up on party lines that it blinds them to the fact that there are many retards running the show. This is includes the Clinton years for all the libs out there.
Whether you liked Bolton or not he had any chance. What is a man going to do in the few months he had? Every ambassador (especially the corrupt ones) knew he was going to leave and could just "minimize" their corrupt practices while he was there. . The United Nations has definitely gone the way of the League of Nations i.e. useless . . . flaccid even.
We do need someone with strength and morals to represent us at the U.N. Bolton was a move in the right direction but apparently not the answer. We need someone who knows the right time to be an *****, not just an ***** all of the time. A liberal (notice I did not say democrat) is not the answer. To damn afraid of hurting peoples feelings.
bbarr97 - Photoblog, on 10/12/2007, -11/+15are you a moron?
Bush has started a war that is lasting longer then WW2 and has killed over 500,000 people
who the ***** is a human rights violator? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+15Okay, Bolton was trying to get the U.N. to end corruption that went all the way to the top and you think he's corrupt? When Anan's son is taking millions of dollars from Iraq's "Oil For Food" program and many of the top diplomats at the U.N. are doing the same you still claim that he's corrupt? When U.N. "Peacekeepers" are raping children in Africa you have the unmitigated gall to refer to Bolton as corrupt? When in the face of this evidence the United Nations refuses to do anything to clean up it's act you think that he's corrupt? What a strange little world you live in. We finally get a U.N. Ambassador that has the balls to call the U.N. on their failed policies and corrupt practices and you couldn't be happier that he resigned. That's just not very bright of you.
- mistercharlie, on 10/12/2007, -11/+14Sweet!! An early Christmas present.
So I guess it's off to some cushy job at Exxon or Bechtel for Mr. Bolton?? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Jump Shark?
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Nice to see the U.N. getting off their ass to do something about Darfur.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9The Lancet says 500-600,000.

Feel free to do some light reading. Don't skip the part where they mention that John Bolton pressured intelligence analysts to write up intelligence reports to fit what the White House was looking for during their ramp up to war. Or that he's publicaly been downright contemptuous of the UN as a body and of it's function. Not that anyone would know anything about that since it's been reported dozens of times since 2005. - theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You know, you can just call me "Mike."
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Here's a hint. If you're looking for a US diplomat to the UN, do not pick a former Department of Energy guy who wrote a paper explaining why the United States needs to stay out of nuclear non-proliferation treaties.
What. A. *****. Douche. And he's just reflective of how stupid our administration is. The UN was created to STOP nuclear warfare and this guy's trying to get us to keep nuclear weapons. - ampersand2001, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8...and down goes the house of cards!
- PabloIV, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8arrested would also be a nice option.
They might not have anything on him right now but be sure, that MoFo's done things that would make you squirm. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4if they let them filibuster than w would see how many republicans dont like bolton either.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9@Photoblog
Kennedy and Johnson fabricated a war in Viet Nam that lasted ten years, cost over 50,000 American lives and an untold number of Vietnamese lives. Where's your righteous indignation for that? Or are you indignant only when a Republican is in office when a war begins? -
