- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -80/+1411So, Sarah had a shotgun wedding and now her daughter will too. Family values at their finest. This is what happens with abstinence only education or being against contraception.
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -48/+1098Leave Britney, err, Bristol Alone!
- rpieszak, on 09/01/2008, -46/+727Well, barring some really shady changes, I can't see how they could fake this. So, what are we left with...
- Sarah Palin did, indeed, fly to some remote hospital after her water broke with Trig.
- Sarah Palin, the abstinence-only ultra-conservative VP candidate, is the mother of an unwed pregnant teen.
...not to mention...
- her extreme stance on many hot-button issues, which the public will love, I'm sure.
- her complete lack of credentials for the position to which she aspires.
The repubs are making this way too easy for the dems. - chrissku, on 09/01/2008, -34/+645Something with the Palin family doesn't sit right with me. There is so much more we need to learn about them. This lady has been in the spotlight for only 72 hours and she's essentially already had her first scandal. This could spell doom for John McCain.
- Crizack, on 09/01/2008, -21/+622The McCain campaign has just turned into a Lifetime movie.
- thehardgoodbye, on 09/01/2008, -23/+463McCain/Spears 2008
- iheartcrack, on 09/01/2008, -35/+452Complete bleepin' disaster!
The woman who is the state's supreme advocate of "abstinence-only" education isn't capable of keeping her own daughter from getting knocked up. ON TOP OFF THAT, she drops her own special needs baby on her underage daughter so the teenager can now raise TWO infants...conveniently leaving the governor free to advance her political career.
COMPLETE BLEEPIN' DISASTER! - jtucker65, on 09/01/2008, -30/+425The plot thickens, I don't know what to believe!!
- Ceaser57, on 09/01/2008, -20/+37717 year old daughter of "champion of conservative values" gets knocked up from premarital sex.
Yeah she's gonna do something to that conservative base all right. - paraforce, on 09/01/2008, -23/+378What the *****.
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -9/+357A former small-town beauty queen who married a snowmobile racer and has a pregnant teen daugher.
Sounds to me like she'll fit right in with the conservative base. - algaeturd, on 09/01/2008, -28/+33317 year old teenage pregnancy going into a campaign?
REPUBLICANS ARE HYPOCRITES OF THE HIGHEST ORDER!
Can you imagine if Obama had a teenage daughter who was pregnant out of wedlock?!
That would have been a full fledged attack. Probably ads, etc to smear him and his family.
DISGUSTING. - durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -25/+317God, this is like Christmas.
- BlindingDawn, on 09/01/2008, -14/+261Gotta keep warm in Alaska somehow.
- bcclist, on 09/01/2008, -11/+249Looks like that abstinence education program sarah led up in Alaska should have been communicated at home too.
- apothekari, on 09/01/2008, -8/+226Erm..."Bawling" her eyes out.
"Balling"her eyes out is what got her in this position. - Dereliction, on 09/01/2008, -15/+222Well, who can say they saw this coming? Does this play well with the conservative base for McCain, or is this a backfire?
- ayiticherie, on 09/01/2008, -60/+264Oh please people. Why are we so gullible? Do we really believe what this chick has to say? Accidental miscarriage timed in a couple of months anyone???
- ralphthemagi, on 09/01/2008, -10/+211Seriously, the media is going to destroy this girls life. I guess that's mostly the mother's fault for accepting a VP nomination, but this poor girl. Being 17 and pregnant has to be hard enough. Being 17, pregnant, and the whole world watching your every move—waking up everyday to see your picture on the TV, newspaper and all over the web... honestly that's just terrible.
I don't know what the real story is, but I just feel sorry for the girl. She's probably balling her eyes our right now. :( - peticsu, on 09/01/2008, -22/+204I feel sorry for the kid, poor thing is going to have a retarded name...
- johnnr2, on 09/01/2008, -17/+180This family is from the twilight zone.
- ZenMojo, on 09/01/2008, -20/+182So wait...the Liberals get everything they want? A poster child for the failure of abstinence-based education and a mom who flew on an airplane after her water broke? No *****....
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -3/+149I thought McCain doomed himself each time he speaks.
- ajde, on 09/01/2008, -11/+153Either way, as a person, not a liberal, I think it's messed up that she would leave her 4-month-old special needs baby and her pregnant daughter (and eventually new grandchild?) behind at a time when they would both need her more than this country does.
- hbrws111, on 09/01/2008, -34/+174I'll bet she isn't 5 months pregnant and both infants will be hers or maybe she isn't pregnant at all again and this is a ploy. I feel Sarah is still covering up for her daughter. And yes, this is private family issue but I'd think that family would come first and with these issues arising a mother would think of the effect this circumstance would have on her daughter before running for VP. The country is important but I can't imagine anything I would put before my daughter's well-being. Bristol is a child and needs her mom. Even if she gave her mom her support in running Bristol is still a child and has no idea how a teenage pregnancy can change a life and adding a marriage at 17 just adds to that. This should be a private family matter and Sarah should have realized how her run would harm her family.
Just my opinion, not passing judgment, Sarah may have a calling as a politician that I don't understand but as a parent, mother or father, I just feel that the child's best interests were not put first. - chuckDontSurf, on 09/01/2008, -3/+130They can spin it any way they want. They'll play up the 'pro-life' side of it and downplay the 'yeah my underage daughter made a dumbass mistake by not using contraception that's been widely available for 50 years' side of it.
- ProKid, on 09/01/2008, -28/+154That Bristol is a little baby factory there huh? Just pumpin em out
- wonderchemist, on 09/01/2008, -11/+132If elected I predict her grandchild will have the secret service code name: Oops!
- marabout40, on 09/01/2008, -39/+153Another breaking story: Todd Palin charged with DUI in 1986 http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/01/ ...
Let the vetting begin. - inactive, on 09/01/2008, -16/+128Mind you, this the daughter of a avid proponent of abstinence only education. Just sayin'.
- bitORlogic, on 09/01/2008, -11/+122This will be a headache for McCain. Forget how it reflects on Bristol - she's a minor. Forget how it reflects on Sarah Palin - hypocrisy about abstinence aside, the conservative base will love the "keep the baby, marry the father" plan. No, what makes this a problem for McCain is how it reflects on McCain. His vetting of her was virtually non-existent. He met Sarah Palin only once. All the tabloid-esque headlines will reflect on his (lack of) judgment in this matter. Hurricane Gustave is taking attention away from the Republican convention, so the next major headlines about the Republican ticket will be about this. I honestly think that by the end of the coming week, there will be a 2 or 3 percent shift in the polls away from McCain because of this.
- chuckDontSurf, on 09/01/2008, -11/+113"The repubs are making this way too easy for the dems."
Right. These are the same people who made John Kerry, a decorated war vet, look like a worse commander in chief than Bush. Once their spin machine gets going, there's a lot of damage they can do. Hell, by the end of this, they'll be spinning that McCain is blacker than Obama, and their base will eat it up. - mikelieman, on 09/01/2008, -6/+105You know, this is still BAD for Sarah Palin.
Why was the "She covered for her kid's pregnancy" story so titilating?
Because, as an Abstinence Only proponent, it's amusing for her to be involved in a cover up-whereby her pregnant unwed teen daughter proves that Abstinence Only Don't Work.
So, after a few days of hyperbolic insanity, the truth comes out...
Her pregnant unwed teen daughter proves that Abstinence Only Don't Work.
I'm not seeing where she's any better off today, than yesterday.
Worse, perhaps, as we have concrete evidence of her incompetence to lead even her own Christian family... She couldn't hack the nation. - fuzzmeister, on 09/01/2008, -2/+98You're allowed to swear on the internet, just fyi.
- TinternAbbot, on 09/01/2008, -4/+98HOLY *****. EXECUTE HIM NOW!
- gr0k, on 09/01/2008, -9/+101Yeah she made a dumb mistake it happens. However, Sarah Palin like most republicans, advocates abstinence-only. EPIC FAIL
- Rubuntu, on 09/01/2008, -14/+105Stay tuned for the apprearance of the Palin family on the Jerry Springer show!
- bullhead2007, on 09/01/2008, -9/+100More like, "Our daughter made a stupid mistake and had sex out of wedlock. We raised her as abstinence only and against contraception. She is keeping the baby and getting married to the father at 17 because Jebus told us to."
- grtrx, on 09/01/2008, -7/+95hm, how does the timeline add up to the "away from school for X months because of mono"? just wondering...
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -1/+88That's what I thought when I heard that a former small-town beauty queen from Alaska who's married to a snowmobile racer was nominated as VP.
- Lspook63, on 09/01/2008, -16/+101Come on, couldn't we see this one coming a mile away? Either she's pregnant AGAIN, I mean, come on, if she got pregnant at 16, it's likely she'll get pregnant again soon, especially considering she's not taking care of the baby.
Or, she's not really pregnant, which will lead a to a quick miscarriage or super secret adoption.
Or, this is really her first pregnancy, she miraculously got pregnant during the time she was out of school for an extremely extended and reportedly severe case of mono. In which case, you've got direct proof that her mother's abstinence ONLY and no true sex education because condoms don't work and birth control is abortion, is going to dramatically effect the health and lives of our children. - tamman2000, on 09/01/2008, -0/+85So getting pregnant out of wedlock is OK as long as you marry the guy and stay married?
I never heard that one in church... - omercyme33, on 09/01/2008, -18/+101And they say her family values give her experience to be the VP. Ha!
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -49/+123Bristol's vagina is a clown car. She had all the kids in her mother's family and now she's starting a whole new round. She hosts The Blue Collar Comedy Tour in it on weekends it has off, but they are very rare.
- rald84, on 09/01/2008, -6/+78here's a tip: women can get pregnant after having a baby.
strike that.
teenage girls can get pregnant after having a baby. - JigoroKano, on 09/01/2008, -2/+74George Bush and Dick Cheney have DUI's. *****, Ted Kennedy killed a woman.
Americans don't bat an eye at voting for drunks. - marabout40, on 09/01/2008, -7/+77Come on guys, that's low. Barack talks about having a funny name all the time. Even Michelle said that when she first met him, she thought, "Barack Obama? Who names their kid Barack Obama?" Also, let's not forget that Barack's mom was a teenager when she got pregnant with him.
Let's lay off the kids.
This is about John McCain's judgment - or more importantly, lack thereof. Let's stay focused on the issues. - chuckDontSurf, on 09/01/2008, -5/+75Some people are seriously misinformed about what miscarriages are. A couple of months would put her close to the end of her pregnancy. After about 32 weeks, it's no longer a miscarriage; it's a premature delivery, because the fetus can survive outside the womb. Miscarriages happen when the fetus isn't viable outside the womb.
- bjornski, on 09/01/2008, -5/+72Like mother, like daughter.....
- rpieszak, on 09/01/2008, -2/+63That was my first thought too. But Trig was born in April, and if Bristol is 5 months along, that means she got pregnant in March. They could be lying about her timeline, but the earliest she actually could have gotten pregnant is sometime in May, so they'd have to lying about 2 months.
