- playaz33, on 08/13/2009, -4/+69We need to really push for this in the Senate!
- iupetre, on 08/13/2009, -4/+54I refreshed the website a few time, and it looks like it's gaining about 2 signatures per second. Exciting!
- crushtheenemy, on 08/14/2009, -6/+55this is why i voted for ron paul in the first place. too bad everyone laughed at me.
- JustChillin12, on 08/14/2009, -4/+47How refreshing to see a bipartisan issue breath life while the country is divided on another issue. Let's come together on this one. We are all Americans!
- penny3, on 08/14/2009, -4/+40This is a great step toward transparency. I'm sure most Americans still don't even know what the Federal Reserve is, though, so spread the word!
- bucfish, on 08/14/2009, -6/+41Nice Audit the fed then end it!
- jwinter228, on 08/14/2009, -4/+38We need to get Pelosi and Frank to bring this up to the floor - we need to email them to convince them to let that happen.
- MarianaPeyton, on 08/14/2009, -4/+351. Since the creation of the Fed in 1913, the dollar has devalued 95%.
2. It only took 16 years for the monetary policies of the Fed to bring down the nation.
3. The Fed prints trillions of dollars and lend it to foreign central banks.
4. The Fed uses YOUR money and give it to big banks and corporations!
We need to open their books and show what they are doing to the world! Call your congressman and senator and tell them to support HR 1207 and S 604.
Let's audit and shut down the "Federal" Reserve!!! - onesojourner, on 08/14/2009, -4/+3395%. That speaks for itself.
- henri3, on 08/14/2009, -4/+29I'v called, fax'd and email'd my congressmen, and so far Travis Childers has sign'd on to H.R 1207. I will not give up on getting the rest of my rep's to sign on. What are they hiding? Audit the Fed!
- thecoolestguy, on 08/14/2009, -4/+28Dugg and favorited.
There may be no corruption at the federal reserve, but it's important that that is confirmed with an independent audit.
You don't give an organization control over trillions of dollars of the public's money without significant oversight and transparency. It's irresponsible and exposes the country to the risk of massive corruption. - King0007, on 08/14/2009, -3/+27I am 100% for this. Call your representative and tell them to sponsor this bill.
- NorthMass, on 08/14/2009, -4/+25The Fed doesn't even have to tell anyone where they lent out $2 trillion.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&am ... - mcsenget, on 08/14/2009, -5/+23Now that the gold standard is well behind us, we can be sure that the monetary financial system is absolutely the fault of the Fed - although it was pretty clear during the Great Depression, also.
If Obama and his friends in Congress support transparency in government, then they will surely support this bill.
Otherwise, be very concerned. - kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -5/+21Read Murray Rothbard's short book, "The Case Against the Fed".
- Blaaam, on 08/14/2009, -5/+20Just because maybe a lot of the users commenting here are not regular active Digg users does not mean we are using shill and sock-puppet accounts as you call it. I for one am a legitimate user, although I do use Digg rarely. The only thing that was organized here was that the new web site, auditthefed.com, posted links to the major social networking sites to help spread the word to hopefully effect some much needed change to our financial system. This link was not even very prominent, very near the bottom of the home page. Just think what would happen here if it was more visible. Lol!
- Blaaam, on 08/14/2009, -3/+17I firmly believe the Federal Reserve's operations should be 100% fully transparent to the public. They have destroyed the dollars value since its inception, print more and more fiat dollars which only further devalues the dollar and then they are giving them away by the boat load and won't even tell us to whom they are giving OUR tax dollars to. Think about just how ludicrous this is. Its time for a change America before its too late!
- kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -4/+17Didn't Obama promise a "new era of transparency in Washington DC"?
If so, why is he not getting behind this trans-partisan bill to shed light on the TRILLIONS that have been pushed around by the Fed? - FlashX12, on 08/14/2009, -2/+14This is a very serious issue and most Republicans & Democrats alike believe we need transparency in the Federal Reserve. However, for whatever reason Barney Frank & Nancy Pelosi aren't allowing this bill to be voted on.
- rmccs0x, on 08/14/2009, -2/+14Very nice layout.
http://www.reboottherepublic.com - thecoolestguy, on 08/14/2009, -3/+14as I said, your snide childish comments will not sway the principled movement to return America to sound government, and end the tax payer subsidies for Israel's brutal embargo against Gaza.
- thecoolestguy, on 08/14/2009, -7/+18No comment on the actual bill or the principle of increasing transparency in government operations, just more trolling.
It doesn't matter how much you troll with these rude/snide comments, the effort to instate responsible government and end tax payer funding for Israel's brutal embargo against Gaza will continue. - thecoolestguy, on 08/14/2009, -7/+17EndAntiSemitism, I'm so surprised you're in this thread with complaints/negative comments!
Good thing you're looking out for the American people's interests by promoting transparency via an independent audit. - kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -2/+11Who exerts the control right now?
If it's not coming from the People through their representatives, who makes the decisions for where these trillions go?
You support this high-potential-for-abuse secretive status quo?
Are you really that stupid? - thecoolestguy, on 08/14/2009, -4/+13As I said, more snide trollish remarks will not sway the movement for responsible government.
- ZZeke, on 08/14/2009, -1/+10Oh c'mon, Kemp - you know that these types think that this is "their" digg!!!
- Erich100, on 08/14/2009, -3/+12352 diggs, 20 hours and 9 minutes and still not popular. Digg is trying to control the conversation.
- Stephen1424, on 08/14/2009, -2/+10Everyone sign the petition and then send it around !
- LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -2/+10Right on. This is not a left/right issue, this is a transparency issue. Anybody against auditing the Federal Reserve is truely a fringe lunatic who wants nothing but financial anarchy.
- RonPauls, on 08/14/2009, -3/+11thanks for support.
- richmomz, on 08/14/2009, -3/+11Somebody needs to ask Pelosi or Frank point blank why they are still sitting on this thing when 2/3s of the House is sponsoring it and 90% of the U.S. population supports it.
- kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -2/+9I'm seriously happy for your health.
And if you could not tell, that was sarcasm.
You are the ones claiming these are all "sock puppet" accounts. Do you think digg does not want new users to come to their site? - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -7/+14Reported for thread spam. Please only post comments related to the article.
Using your logic, the 282 cosponsors in the House are all sock puppet Representatives. You are such a conspiracy theorist tool bag. - claytrainor, on 08/14/2009, -6/+13guys, NoLibs trolls every single RP thread every single day.
Don't feed him, he's just a troll. Next time you see one of his comments, just leave it alone, and waste your time on someone more rational, with a life outside of Digg. - ZZeke, on 08/14/2009, -1/+7Here's an easy one Colonel ...google video "Freedom to Fascism" or try this submission:
http://digg.com/politics/From_Freedom_to_Fascism_3 - kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -4/+10Wasn't digg encouraging users to move their "shouts" to Twitter?
Does digg not encourage outside sites driving traffic to digg?
Does digg not want new users?
Do you work for digg? If not, what has made you their unofficial spokesman?
If digg IS following the model of not wanting outside users to head towards their site, I would say that is pretty damn stupid as far as a business model goes. - thecoolestguy, on 08/14/2009, -7/+13Junk, you and the others who lurk Ron Paul related stories have never brought forth any sort of argument for why an independent audit is a bad idea, because there is absolutely no good argument for maintaining Fed secrecy.
All you've brought forth, and all you have now, is ridiculous childish name-calling, in place of any sort of logic.
The Fed is lending TRILLIONS of dollars with barely any oversight. This is an intolerable situation for a democracy that's supposed to serve the people.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXlxBeAvsB8
Ron Paul, by leading the charge against Fed secrecy to try to bring a little sanity to the American political/financial system, has done a thousands times more for America than any of the hack politicians you support. - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -6/+12^^Obvious troll proves he is being obvious.
- kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -7/+12It's all a vast conspiracy to upset the natural balance of digg and get the pro-Fed digg users like yourself to have coronaries!
- thecoolestguy, on 08/15/2009, -1/+6---You support this high-potential-for-abuse secretive status quo?
Are you really that stupid?---
I don't think he has really thought through the implications, or even if he has, it's more important for him to oppose Ron Paul, than to support what's good policy for America. - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -2/+7Go read the Wikipedia entry for the Federal Reserve.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Syste ... - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -5/+10STFU, you are so full of ***** it's hilarious. You JUST dugg this spam which is not even news (it's a link to a docstoc upload... NOT NEWS):
http://digg.com/d310les
Tell me, how is that NOT considered spam when the launch of a website that is receiving literally hundreds of thousands of hits today is? Your definition of spam is anything you don't agree with, my definition of spam is ***** that is not news.
You are a complete loser. I don't know why I even bother responding to children. - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -4/+9Look at these guys go... they are rabid!
- kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -4/+9Who would spend this much time twisting themselves in knots to bash folks who simply want transparency over the trillions being passed around in loans, guarantees and currency swaps via the unaccountable Fed?
Are you kidding me? To go to these lengths for that? Endless hours of endless days to stand for Fed secrecy and back room deals regarding trillions as opposed to the light of day in this activity?
Operating in blind hate, they stand against 75% of Americans who see basic common sense oversight as a good thing:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/30/fed-audit ...
They also applaud the fact that, even with 282 co-sponsors for a bill in the House, that it is stuck in committee!
Great character being illustrated. - kemp34, on 08/14/2009, -4/+9Please provide an account of a time in history where debt-based fiat currency provided a lasting and sustainable currency situation.
Note: the US$ did not become a pure debt-based fiat currency until 1971 when Nixon unilaterally ended the Bretton-Woods agreement and closed the final tie to gold. This experiment has only been 38 years long and it appears to be one big clusterturd of un-natural boom and bust along with the ability to covertly transfer wealth to cronies.
You support this? - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -4/+9Poor trolls caught in a lie. Sorry guys, that submission is spam, it will get 10 diggs if that.
Poor babies crying. And reed311, where have you been? You are one of the most entertaining trolls, improve your attendance please. - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -5/+9You're the one screaming about spam constantly. I'm only pointing out that you are spamming the threads. Since we can both agree that we don't want digg comment threads turning into spam, I think it's acceptable to inform you that you are spamming.
Your friend,
LP - bucfish, on 08/14/2009, -4/+8Junkyarddawg your definition of inflation in wrong.
Inflation is a rise in the money supply(which has happened)
the effects cause a rise in prices which we haven't seen yet. for several reasons, mainly other countries still buying US debt and holding our dollars that we have sold them over the years and the banks are not lending the money. Just wait til a large holder of US Debt stops buying and starts dumping dollars. - thecoolestguy, on 08/15/2009, -3/+7transparency != political control
secrecy in lending out trillions of public $ = intolerable.
You have no valid counter to these two points. - LinuxPerson, on 08/14/2009, -5/+9^loser
Go cry in the corner. Nobody cares. -
