- diggeradoo, on 03/09/2008, -0/+521. "helped to bring peace" to Northern Ireland. Called "silly" by Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of the province.
2. "negotiated with Macedonia to open up its border to refugees from Kosovo". The Macedonian government opened its border to refugees the day before Clinton arrived to meet with government leaders. - diggeradoo, on 03/09/2008, -1/+423. Claim" "standing up to the Chinese government on women's rights". Truth: Rice [assistant secretary of state in the Bill Clinton administration] questioned whether that trip amounted to the kind of preparation for a global crisis that Clinton has claimed.
4. Claim: A one-day visit she made to Bosnia following the Dayton peace accords. Truth: Accompanied by performers Sheryl Crow and Sinbad, as well as her 15 year old daughter, Chelsea.
5. Claim: She had "advocated on behalf of a U.S. military intervention in Rwanda to stop the genocide there." Truth: Key foreign policy officials say that a U.S. military intervention in Rwanda was never considered in the Clinton administration's policy deliberations. Despite lengthy memoirs by both Clintons and former Secretary of State and UN Ambassador Madeleine Albright, any advice she gave on Rwanda had not been mentioned until her presidential campaign. - DiggLive, on 03/09/2008, -1/+30"Bill, get up and answer that phone"

- arbouler, on 03/09/2008, -0/+12she needs to be stopped really soon! the faster that gets done, the faster we get to rally more americans under the obama campaign.
not even a nominee just yet, obama already shows his willingness to include republicans in his cabinet.
not even a nominee just yet, clinton already shows her ability to divide the party and claim mccain is better than obama.
it's 3 am, hillary, good night and good bye. - inactive, on 03/09/2008, -0/+6And every time he opens his mouth.
- inactive, on 03/09/2008, -0/+6Her claims are just bogus. Maybe she had some influence in some of these areas, but I don't really want my doctor's wife performing surgery on me just because she's married to a doctor. How is she qualified to be President just because her husband was President? And if she was already running the place for eight years like she suggests, does she really deserve a third term? I thought two was the limit.
- webcrumb, on 03/09/2008, -0/+4It's being distributed by AP, therefore it has been checked. It's also been put out by other agencies.
Plus, since when did 'a news report' saying "it's true" mean anything? - DeeTN, on 03/09/2008, -0/+4Where was her foreign policy experience when over 800,000 Tutsis were massacre during the Rwandan genocide in 1994. For 100 days our government headed by Bill Clinton stood by while men, women and children we murdered and did NOTHING!!
Where were you then Hillary? What makes you think that you have the foreign experience now? - bomberger, on 03/09/2008, -0/+4I scoff at her accomplishments. It was I who built the Great wall of China AND single handedly took down Hitler.

Mr McDevitt [an SDLP negotiator and aide to Mr Hume during the talks] said: "I’ve always had a theory that these people were already well networked. Maybe they needed a bit of bringing together and she [Mrs Clinton] was an ideal focus point." Once a peace deal was in place, Mrs Clinton supported women politicians and was always available if they visited Washington "to give them a pat on the back, give them moral support", he added.
"So in a classic woman politicky sort of way I think she was active...She was certainly investing some time, no doubt about it. Whether she was involved on the issue side I think probably not." - hippieslaugh, on 03/09/2008, -1/+4Thank you. Insulting and uneducated statement accepted.

- KynderEgg, on 03/09/2008, -1/+3I'm quite disappointed that this article tries to counter every claim made with a statement from Hillary's campaign advisors praising her, and try to use Obama campaign supporters to falsify her -- even though no one can falsify that she went on "negotations" with Sheryl Crow. I think that is weak hedging, almost as if this reporter is scared of Hillary. The Boston Globe and the UK news eviscerated Hillary on claiming to be part of Irish peace talks, using independent sources not associated with either campaign. Those articles are better, giving people like mal1964 here less opportunity to pick the parts of the article where Hillary is praised by her own staff (because come on, WTF?)
Here is the Boston Globe article saying that Hillary is exaggerating her Northern Ireland involvement:
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Boston_Globe_Hil ... - sigg14, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2she obviously had no idea what was going on in the whitehouse or what her husband was doing, or he wouldn't have been getting head from fat interns in the oval office. or maybe she was getting head from some fat female interns herself, who knows
- diggeradoo, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2In that retelling [of Northern Ireland experience], Clinton said she had hosted a meeting of enemies in the conflict. They had never been in the same room before, and "no one thought this was going to be a very good idea."
In her book, Clinton describes hearing very similar sentiments from Protestant and Catholic women in Belfast in 1995.
The difference: The women were already peace activists, not enemies who didn't recognize their shared humanity.
The story she told Saturday took place at Belfast's city hall, while the story in her book took place in a fish restaurant.
Her book does describe an event at Belfast City Hall on the same trip, a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony with President Clinton. - webcrumb, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2Go to extremes, much?

Uh...why don't we just let the FACTS speak for themselves.
FLAT BUSTED. - diggeradoo, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2"Her experience speaks for itself" ... Sure does.
1) Exagerrated "helped to bring peace in N.Ireland.
2) Made up "negotiated with Macedonia"
3) "'standing up' to the Chinese government on women's rights" - was a single speech she made. Hmm - ironic.
4) One-day meet-n-greet she made to Bosnia with a pop singer, comedian, and her teenage daughter.
5) Made up "advocated on behalf of a U.S. military intervention in Rwanda" - hippieslaugh, on 03/10/2008, -0/+2Maybe they should let us go on MSNBC.

- valimar77, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2And the silence is deafening. Well done Hippie.
- hippieslaugh, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2You got it, Jersey.
Barack Obama has managed to pass many of his bills in the Illinois senate by crossing party lines. For instance, he passed a bill that made it mandatory to video tape the interrogation of possible criminals by crossing party lines and convincing governor Rod Blagojevich (IL-R) (who originally opposed the bill) to see that the bill would help cut down on coerced and false confessions. Obama passed several other bills, such as the state’s first earned-income tax credit.
He co-authored a lobbying reform law that requires lawmakers to disclose the names of lobbyists who bundle contributions for them.
All those times you’ve heard people say that he voted “present” in the state legislature, and you’ve said to yourself, “Present? What a Cop Out!” Well, it turns out that Illinois state procedures state that a “present” vote is the same as a “Nay” vote, with the added benefit of sending the bill back to be rewritten. He voted that way strategically.
From the NY times: “In the Illinois Senate, there can be strategic reasons for voting “present” rather than simply no. A member might approve the intent of legislation, but not its scope or the way it has been drafted. A “present” vote can send a signal to a bill’s sponsors that the legislator might support an amended version. Voting “present” can also be a way to exercise fiscal restraint, without opposing the subject of the bill.”
Now, this is digg, and I don’t want to make this any longer than this. The above is a quick sample, and by no means a complete list of the reasons that I support Obama. You can call me a “Lemming” all you want, Jersey, but in the end, I’m the one that’s done my homework. So what does that make you? - maiku00, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2I really hope MSM picks this up. Its crucial to Hillary's "strong" point, and it rips her argument to shreds. It seems it is too late though, she has bullied everyone into submission already.
- Schmapdi, on 03/09/2008, -1/+3Credit where credit is due - HRC was a good first lady who did/at least tried a lot of things. She was no sit and smile stepford wife like Laura Bush. It still doesn't make her all that experienced though.
- diggeradoo, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2"A small fraction of these documents — now public thanks to the watchdog Judicial Watch — shows a wealth of unvarnished information. One 24-page health care memo from Sen. Jay Rockefeller to Mrs. Clinton outlines "attacks" by which the HillaryCare shock troops would advance their message. "Expose lifestyles, tactics and motives of small business lobbyists" is one. Then there are the two "grassroots" approaches of "partisan" and "non-partisan" organization-building, with their respective pros and cons. One "disadvantage" of the nonpartisan approach would be "less central control," concludes Mr. Rockefeller. No kidding." -Washington Times
- masteryan, on 03/09/2008, -0/+2well i really hate Hillary. she's a snob, has a huge ego, and reminds me too much of ex-wife. but the title of this article is misleading (and is refuted in the article). considering the fact that she is an overbearing beotch of a woman, i have no doubt she took a strong role in her husband's decision-making. Bill Clinton wasn't that smart. he was a party guy, and won elections because of his like-ability, not his intelligence.
- rz8472, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1I think his performance in "Jingle All The Way" is a huge advantage.

- sanman, on 03/09/2008, -1/+2Clinton started the first aerial bombing campaign in Europe in a half-century, in the Balkans, on the pretext of wanting to "prevent war between Turkey and Greece"
Unfortunately, the Clintons love to speak with forked tongue.
Hopefully, Chelsea won't inherit these traits. - motivatedmama, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1We're sorry, the person you are trying to reach is currently unavailable.
- StarlessKnight, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1Doesn't that effectively affirm the title of this article? "She had more of a role on some foreign policy issues than a lot of other first ladies [...but] her role was limited and I've been surprised at the claims that she had a much greater role than certainly I'm aware of on the issues I was working on."
- cidman2001, on 03/09/2008, -1/+2I've been wrestling with this very issue for a while now. I've heard Hillary repeat hypnotically that she is the more experienced candidate. What really made me stop and consider what this meant, was everyone's favorite (sic) conservative Sean Hannity repeatedly ask people to name one accomplishment Barak Obama has made. My first thought was "Gee...can't name one". My second thought was the litmus test. What has Hillary accomplished besides photo ops and reverse carpetbagging a senate seat in New York? I'm glad we are seeing people finally asking the tough questions. I'm an independent, and I'm struggling to define any of the candidates. Is that by design? I'm beginning to think McCain might not be too bad if he were to pick a moderate or (gasp)...a democrat as a running mate. Not that the VP really makes much more impact than the first lady does, but at least it would show some intent to reach out across the aisle. Something we desperately need right now. The wackos on both sides have controlled the debate far too long...
