- 4verageJo3, on 04/28/2009, -0/+3... And now the genocide will finally end.
- inactive, on 04/28/2009, -0/+3Democrat nonsense once again. Democrat solution to violence they do not approve of?
1. Get the US military involved in a humanitarian meals on wheels mission and interpose themselves to stop the violence.
2. Military is viewed by the respective combatants as invaders and become targets.
3. Military fires back and kills the respective combatants
4. The military is declared an enemy and condemned by the United Nations
5. The military withdraws and the slaughter continues.
Next meals on wheels mission? Democrat, a history of failure in prevention of violence caused by civil wars. - inactive, on 04/28/2009, -0/+1I see so liberals approve of unleashing our killing machine as long as they approve of the conflict. In the end ratify anything you want. Enforcement is a whole other issue. We pick and choose our wars. The choice may not suit your tastes but you are not making the choice. For now we kill muslim fanatics. Maybe the ethnic civil war in Darfur will be next on the agenda. I doubt it, so it does not pay to whine about such matters.
- inactive, on 04/28/2009, -0/+1So you approve of our military using overwhelming fire power to kill people that kill and rape others? Fine then, that is the way it works. Or would you prefer that we be "kind and even handed" and we can light candles and sing around the campfire? Once we start employing our military to "stop" evil people who rape and murder and we do it effectively, people like you and other Democrats along with the United Nations will start to scream that we are being to heavy handed.
Understand something. We employ a military to carry out our interests and destroy people and property when it is called upon. The problem with these types of missions is that the rules of engagement are restrictive and murky and once the enemy starts firing on our personnel it gets ugly when we start firing back because we usually kill our enemies wholesale. - bevgrrl, on 04/28/2009, -0/+0It is a better use of military force to seek out non exisitant WMDs?
The US signed and ratified the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in 1948, and this obligates us to step in and end genocide if we know it is happening. - bevgrrl, on 04/28/2009, -1/+0It's not international meals on wheels, it's ethical and humane to stop murder, rape, and violence where we can in the world.
The nonesense is pretending it isn't happening and shutting our eyes to the suffering in the world just because it doesn't directly effect you. If we can do something it is our duty as human beings to do it.
