- kooredaan, on 04/18/2009, -6/+61Real Indians FTW! - Sorry Bobby.
He's for open source. Did a great job in Virginia.
Good to see diversity and qualified people getting involved. - Phych, on 04/19/2009, -5/+35Does this mean if Obama has a tech problem, the call gets routed to him?
- Phatlip012, on 04/19/2009, -7/+34What's with all the racist people here? I seriously can't wait until Jindal runs in 2012 so I can watch the Republicans pretended to be "tolerant". It's going to be a blast.
- mrsteveman1, on 04/19/2009, -1/+28Better than running it like a megachurch
- Hardataq, on 04/19/2009, -3/+19OMG IS HE ON TWITTUR?
- meghalc, on 04/19/2009, -2/+18You do know a Indian can be an American? Americans are not just white blue eyed people. idiot.
- Phatlip012, on 04/19/2009, -0/+15Yeah, because technology TOTALLY isn't important.
/s - arvvvs, on 04/19/2009, -2/+17Well the current Republican base, is basically the religious folks who preach Obama is anti christ, and gays should be deported.
- rameznabel, on 04/19/2009, -1/+16in other words he is
1- the superuser of USA
2-root account of USA
3-administrator account of USA - cajie, on 04/19/2009, -3/+17Aneesh Chopra, Vivek Kundra...
Being an Indian - and with elections fever in India, I just assumed that I was reading of new positions in the Indian government. - enantiodromia, on 04/19/2009, -3/+16Indian Executives seem to have done pretty well for Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, Cisco, Amazon, eBay, Apple, and just about every other huge tech company.
- ObamaYouth, on 04/19/2009, -5/+16I'm concerned. Are we having too much stereotype? We need a computer czar, get an Indian! We need a labor czar, get a Latino! we need a money czar, get a Jew!
And it's two Indians in a row. What are the odds that the best candidates for both positions happen to be all Indians? - yerdaddy, on 04/19/2009, -2/+12That one's fair.
- Schrodinger2, on 04/19/2009, -1/+11Easy Chicken Little, most of the administration is still white. Go back to your balls-on-face party.
- Daiken, on 04/19/2009, -1/+11It sucks to have people still unable to look past his name and skin color. Why can't he just be considered an American?
- mayurpatil, on 04/19/2009, -0/+9Being an Indian , I wish such people could lead India today instead of the current pollies we have back home.
- mrsteveman1, on 04/19/2009, -1/+9Explain to me how open source balloons the government budget
- richmessenger, on 04/19/2009, -2/+10The USA wouldn't exist if it weren't for minorities and immigrants. Remember that even the white man was a minority here once too.
- dn11, on 04/19/2009, -1/+8I'm half Jewish, Half Indian and Half Portuguese Water Dog, and I demand you take back that offensive statement.... but....considering the demographics of silicon valley and all the segments of the technology and engineering industry that I'm aware of ... I would say the odds are pretty good actually.
- sanman, on 04/19/2009, -0/+6Bobby already fell flat on his adam's apple, making his speech.
- mrsteveman1, on 04/19/2009, -0/+6lol either you just discovered the thesaurus or you're a troll (both?)
- enantiodromia, on 04/19/2009, -0/+6it's some racist justification to hate random people. it's like a fun sport to these people.
- cfuse, on 04/19/2009, -2/+8OMG! It's a Trollsaurus!
- macaca, on 04/19/2009, -0/+5I am Indian and I loved you comment. Funny *****.
- mrsteveman1, on 04/19/2009, -0/+5What does that have to do with open source? We need a CTO either way...
- inactive, on 04/19/2009, -1/+6blah...another CIO who isn't technical. At least not from what I read in his bio. And I hope you people aren't taking that Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society’s award thing seriously, those awards are usually a joke.
- nuance2k5, on 04/19/2009, -0/+5Does it mean that an Indian has to be an H1-B only. I am an American and don't think that an Indian or a Chinese or an Eastern European origin necessarily means an H1-B. Geez people don't be so ignorant.
- dn11, on 04/19/2009, -0/+5looks like all the flavors of stupidity are represented in your jello mold serving as a brain.
- enantiodromia, on 04/19/2009, -1/+6my in-laws actually believe Indian people eat camels and aren't allowed to wash their hands.
- dn11, on 04/19/2009, -1/+6dey tuk er jerbsss!
- MacEnvy, on 04/19/2009, -0/+4He turned it down - didn't want the pay cut.
Seriously, that was the reason he gave. Good riddance, I guess. - aighthomie, on 04/19/2009, -0/+4"Have you tried turning it off and on?"
- professorchaos1, on 04/19/2009, -1/+5How is any of this relevant to the article?
- Sabretou, on 04/19/2009, -0/+4n d gramr low...
- nuance2k5, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3As much as people like to say there is no racism in America, it is totally not true. For some odd reason there are a lot of people who still think that someone has to be of a certain color to be considered for important positions.
- inactive, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3Now the Cylons know their main objective.
- sciencelovesyou, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4This is true. Indian people are infamous for their camel bloodlust. Why, an Indian man could be sneaking up on your camel right now! And, honestly, what price is too much to save your camel from the terror of the Indian man's powerful camel-ripping jaws?
Sincerely,
Sham Camelson
CEO Camel Insurance Co. - suncapsol, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3Yes, he did turn it down.
Seriously, the reason he gave:
"Gupta, a neurosurgeon, said in an interview with CNN's Larry King that he withdrew so that he could spend more time with his family, continue to practice medicine and work as a journalist. Administration officials cited the same reasons." - nuance2k5, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3It is not this guy or the Vivek guy who have been arrested. Get your facts straight and don't spread unnecessary rumors. Your id suggests that you are a typical ignorant person.
FYI, if your assistant screws things up, does it mean that you endorsed the screw ups? Not necessarily. Don't run your mouth off to justify your ignorance. - inactive, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4Waste of government money? This guy probably makes a low six figure salary. How does this compare to the billions wasted by those who are able to work, but live off the welfare system instead? How about the billions of dollars illegal aliens cost us every year? Take a look at California. Illegal immigration is absolutely destroying the state's economy.
There are financial problems far worse than this guy being hired. Even if he doesn't do a single thing, he's still not even worth getting upset about. - FutureGuy, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3you are an arrogant punk. US was doing just fine before Indians, US is a multi-ethnic society and in my opinion what makes US one of the greatest nations in the world. It’s very sad to see how Indians treat each other back in India, with all the religious, ethnic and class tensions.
PS: I am originally from India too. - anshuman, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4dont put water on all the racists amehricans having fun with puns.
- Vishalrix, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4To allay the stereotype, there's Indra Nooyi, who's PepsiCo chief, and not a technologist at all. And AFAIK the company didn't ask for any bailout.
- Luv5, on 04/19/2009, -1/+4Hopefully, Mr. Chopra will do well. It is good to see some diversity! Make you appreciate lot of things in life.
- Phatlip012, on 04/19/2009, -0/+3Well, if you could read you would know I were referring to individuals such as the ones in this thread.
Ps. What I saidhad nothing to do with favoring another race. Look up the definition of racism while your at it. - Suilenroc, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2Thanks, Ned Flanders. Run along now.
- Suilenroc, on 04/20/2009, -0/+2I'm aware that my previous post was logically fallacious, but despite the exaggeration, the point remains.
I'd really like to know how all of you libertarians think the country would run if you got into power. Would you mind telling me? I may have the wrong idea, because all I see are the radicals on the internet. - superkendall, on 04/19/2009, -7/+9Well judging from other CIO's we'll now see a bunch of his old friends get hired on with cushy salaries, and nothing actually get done.
- rdoger6424, on 04/19/2009, -0/+2I thought Sanjay Gupta took the job already.
