- isamuelson, on 10/19/2008, -22/+92What does this tell you people?
First, he disses injured soldiers to do a workout. Now, he throws out our national anthem in order to have more speakers be at his rally.
That is just plain disrespectful.
Can you imagine if John McCain had done this? - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -16/+77We buried my beloved Grandfather this weekend. A veteran of WWII, a specialist in translating intercepted Italian communications. He received military honors, and I don't expect the Left to understand why that is important to patriotic Americans.
The honor. The dignity. The reverence. The loyalty. The sound of Taps. Watching those two crisply uniformed men carefully and methodically unfurl, then refold the banner of American freedom, steely-eyed, and unflinching; unwavering in their duty.
As the senior of the two officers handed the flag to my grieving Grandmother; physically supported by my father and my uncle as they in turn were supported by my wife and I; he whispered, as he gazed into her weeping eyes, "We present this flag to you ma'am, from a grateful nation." After all those years, the military code of honor deems it necessary and right to let a grieving widow know in no uncertain terms that her husband and his service is not forgotten.
None of this means squat to our Leftist enemies within. They spit on my Grandfather. They spit on this country.
Honor. Dignity. Reverence. Loyalty. Gratitude: These things, the Left hates. They snarl before these American values like vampires before a crucifix. - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -21/+79That pisses me off! Yet, I am not suprised at all.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -22/+79The ∅ne has never shown the slightest inclination of patriotism. To the contrary, in every instance where his behavior has touched on this essential matter, he has instead turned his back.
- rushjaycarr, on 10/19/2008, -8/+52Ya, I can imagine; every mainstream media outlet in the country would be trashing him non-stop. But Obama? I hear crickets man.
- lccat, on 10/19/2008, -16/+59I don't want to vote for either of the candidates from the 2 "major" parties, but it seems that obama in intent on forcing me to vote for McCain.
- Kaffir, on 10/19/2008, -18/+59B.O. has openly claimed that he doesn't like the Star Spangled Banner. Instead, he prefers "Somewhere Over The Rainbow"!
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -18/+56Obama is ashamed of America. It's really just that simple.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -5/+43My condolences.
I buried my step-father back in February. Here he is just a few weeks before a kamikaze plane hit his ship:

The Left abhor the things his generation stood for. I hate to see them gaining so much traction. - lanesharon, on 10/19/2008, -14/+49We have young men and women, in the military, who are in harm's way every day, for us. And the man who wants to lead them does not have enough respect for their bravery and sacrifice to salute the flag, or honor the National Anthem. What does that say about the arrogance of this man? A LOT.
- BuddyOne, on 10/19/2008, -18/+52Anyone up for a tea party?
- existing, on 10/19/2008, -4/+35Sorry for your loss, IronDioPriest. I truly am. My father was also a veteran of WWII; he was a captain in the Army, as was his mother. Duty - honor - country. Principles so dear to them, as they were to your grandfather and many others. We stand with you tonight in honor of them, the greatest generation. God, I miss them.
- drachemorder, on 10/19/2008, -4/+34I take my hat off to your grandfather, and to you as well for so honoring his memory.
- irisheyes1169, on 10/19/2008, -4/+33My condolences to you both, IronDioPriest and RRJackson. God bless those two and all the many brave men and women who served.
I miss my own Grandmother and both Grandfathers who proudly served their Country during WWII. - drachemorder, on 10/19/2008, -3/+31I guess you guys have plenty of experience at it, don't ya?
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -6/+34May God BLESS you both!!!! These wonderful men gave their all for OUR freedoms! I have nothing but love for them and you!
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -6/+34My sympathies for you both and those who knew your fathers. And I have the flag from my own father's (10th Mtn 1942-5) funeral, with those same words etched in my memory.
- rushjaycarr, on 10/19/2008, -9/+36Thank you. It's good to know that someone realizes that. Should Obama win, would you be interested in helping me start the Revolution? I'm only half joking. I'd seriously consider it if you said yes.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -9/+35I'm in...why do you think he wants to take away (or I'm sorry the pc term 'limit') our right to bear arms... Opponents to the second amendment contend that the founding fathers only wrote it because it was needed during the time for militia (so in other words we have no need to protect ourselves today in a renegade fashion, as they did in colonial America) Our founding fathers gave us this right because they always feared that the government might someday get to the point where we might need to take back the power... a healthy fear so-to-speak...
Unarmed citizens would be worthless and unable to revolt... something Obama would not mind one bit. - BullSenor, on 10/19/2008, -4/+30My condolences as well. Prayers are with your family. I recently buried my grandfather and my father within the last year. Side by side the father and the son. We thank your family for his service.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -4/+30Dammit, I spent too much time with my father working on the first Clean Water Act (in NH, which preceded the Federal one by several years) and literally *doing* clean-up work to want us to go back to dumping sewage in our waters. I remember literally watching "floaters" going down the Merrimack, Connecticut and other rivers - liberals are even more vile.
- DCMacHead, on 10/19/2008, -2/+26...or voted present
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -4/+27I may not stop laughing all night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -4/+27No, actually I can't imagine that.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -8/+29Educated in public school system were we? Go live somewhere else, we don't want you here!
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -6/+27It doesn't take a particularly capable prosecutor to press successful conspiracy charges when people openly discuss such matters in a public place where a record is kept; likely even ∅bobblehead could handle it. You may recall the woman in Texas who had a recent visit from Secret Service because some ganja-snorting ∅bie drone had a fit of hysteria ? There was no evidence in that case. The comments above already are evidence.
Even before the "Patriot" Act, the JBTs had few if any compunctions about stomping their hobnails across the provisions of the Bill of Rights. No conservative should forget the JBTs' proclivities for provocation / entrapment - just ask Randy Weaver or the late David Koresh, to name only the highest profile such victims.
If you wish to prepare for some sort of Armageddon or whatever, go for it. Quite a few folks did this in the run-up to Y2K as you may recall. As long as you do nothing illegal, it's cool. As long as you do not express an agenda which violates any law, regardless of your real intents, it's cool (at least until Minority Report becomes a reality). Seeking to join with others, even in discussing such matters, with an eye toward conduct which those in authority might interpret as a violation of law . . . no . . . down that path lie late night visits and a vacation at the Graybar Hotel. Think about it - we've had no major terrorist operations against us domestically in seven years, despite the fact the moslem crazies have access to financing, equipment and training far better than anything the average American can begin to acquire. There are human and electronic intel constantly scanning for Big Brother . . . your comments are simply a very large red flag! - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -3/+24The honor. The dignity. The reverence. The loyalty. The sound of Taps. Watching those two crisply uniformed men carefully and methodically unfurl, then refold the banner of American freedom, steely-eyed, and unflinching; unwavering in their duty is EXACTLY what the Leftist HATE.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -5/+26Only if we're going to throw dims into the ocean!
- drachemorder, on 10/19/2008, -5/+26"I remember literally watching "floaters" going down the Merrimack, Connecticut and other rivers - liberals are even more vile. "
I've never been able to tell the difference, personally. Though I rather suspect that the turds are more intelligent and smell better than liberals. - gobber, on 10/19/2008, -4/+25DCMAT,
Sadly you cannot speak for all public school teachers. My sister is a public school teacher and is as serious as you are. However, talking with Jr. and Sr. Highers in my hometown, I can see rightwing's point. - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -4/+22Agreed. There are many patriotic American public school teachers! For the most part it is not the teachers that are the problem it is their unions. Here in CA the teachers union gave 1 million to defeat prop 8 (homosexual marriage). I personally was educated in public schools but it was over 30 years ago, when there were a majority of teachers like you DCMAT. I love my country and was taught that our country has given more then just our blood to secure freedom for others. As a student of history I know this to be the case and am saddened by those who are blinded by what this country means to those who love freedom. I will never cease in my desire to spread freedom around the world!
Thank you DCMAT for continuing the teachings I was given as a youngster!!! - rushjaycarr, on 10/19/2008, -5/+22http://www.cracked.com/blog/an-interview-with-mcca ...
"Hope-o-sphere" - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -5/+21Okay enough with the criticism of public education already! I know I am in the minority in this country, but as a public elementary school teacher I teach my students to be proud of our country. I teach them the importance of standing tall and proud when they face the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance each morning. I teach them that patriotism is important. (And yes, I am a conservative.) I have been reading so much criticism of public education on DIGG and I can't sit quietly anymore. I work hard and I take the importance of my job very seriously. I apologize to rightwingattila that I am taking my frustration out on you, but your comment was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -4/+19Truly, if there ever had been any doubt about the left's hostility to those whose blood gave them the freedom to spew their vile treasonous babble, it would be the two thumbs-down given for expressing sympathy on the passing of two such patriots.
The demarcation is clear . . . there are Americans and then there are liberals, but little, if any, overlap between the two groups. - rushjaycarr, on 10/19/2008, -7/+22Great. Start stockpiling food and weaponry. Hopefully we won't need it, but....
If you're serious, contact me at Morgan9thed@yahoo.com - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -4/+19And America - the real America - is ashamed of Obama.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -4/+18;-}
- theater61, on 10/19/2008, -11/+23Just say no to BO...it all smells bad.
- btschul, on 10/19/2008, -7/+18Do you really want to try to question McCain's patriotism? He endured 5 years of torture for his country. I don't care what you think about his policies or positions on the issues, John McCain is a patriot. He's done more for his country than you and Obamessiah put together.
- johndavidjack, on 10/19/2008, -2/+13Wait, all this time, the 2nd Amendment was talking about weapons?
http://www.demopolislive.com/gallery/images/1/medi ...
I thought my rights were being trampled daily, because my right to have bear arms wasn't being fulfilled.
Good to know the truth... - LadyAmerica, on 10/19/2008, -2/+13"Distort"? Did you get this talking-point from one of the leftist hate-sites: Kos, MoveOn, Huff, etc.?
Newsmax did not distort. Read the original New Hampshire Union Leader article.
QUOTE (excerpted from Union Leader article)
Not present, or at least not singing the National Anthem at the rally was Londonderry senior Zach Bencal.
Bencal, who sings the anthem for a number of school events and is actively involved in local community theatre, had been contacted by the Obama campaign to sing the anthem. He agreed to do so, then was told later in the evening the anthem had been scratched from the program. Bencal said he was told by the campaign the decision was a simple programming change to make room for another speaker.
"I guess it just wasn't meant to be," Bencal said.
Sandra Abrevaya, communications director for the Obama campaign's Manchester office, confirmed the choice had simply been a last-minute scratch from the rally's program, which included the Pledge of Allegiance.
"We regret the miscommunication with Zach about today's event but we are pleased that several other New Hampshire residents were able to speak at today's event, where thousands of voters in both parties gathered to hear Sen. Obama discuss his plan to bring the change we need to Washington."

http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=O ... - WhatBubbaKnows, on 10/19/2008, -5/+15I care, Crow.
I happen to be proud of my country, grateful that I was born into it's citizenship and unashamed of my flag. I feel America in my heart, and never pass the opportunity to honor it by participating in it's anthem.
It IS important.
I care. - btschul, on 10/19/2008, -17/+27There is a reason he won't wear a flag pin or put his hand on his heart for the pledge or have the National Anthem at his rally. He's a Liberal. And Liberals really do hate America. For more info - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaE98w1KZ-c
- kemojr, on 10/19/2008, -4/+14It doesn't surprise me and there is no excuse for the National Anthem being left out. I have been to dozens of events where it was customary to have the National Anthem played and in all those events I never saw it cancelled for the sake of expedience or for any other reason. I think BHO is so arrogant at this point he thinks he can look down his nose at the rest of us common folks who pay proper respect to our Flag and get away with it and the disgusting thing about it is that he is getting away with it. I would never consider voting for him for that reason alone.
If BHO gets elected and the Congress says Democrat you can expect more of the same kind of stuff and worse. All checks and balances will be off and the lunatics will be runnig the asylum. - PuterPrsn, on 10/19/2008, -2/+12Obviously, you think there are better things to do than pause for a minute or two and think about what this country has done for you. That's rather sad.
- rushjaycarr, on 10/19/2008, -2/+12You have my sincere condolences. My family has a long military tradition and I know the pain of losing a loved one. Your grandfather is in Paradise now, and it is our job to continue defending what he stood for.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -2/+12@ aud -
You sell yourself far too short, m'lady. Intelligence, wit, integrity and a smile are valuable contributions to any enterprise. Most probably those who know you better would have no difficulty adding to that list, either. - PuterPrsn, on 10/19/2008, -3/+12So pausing for a minute to think about what a great place this is and how lucky we are to be here means nothing to you at all. Only important thing is YOUR deeds to YOUR fellow citizens. Kind of says it all, doesn't it?
- davidlt, on 10/19/2008, -4/+12He really refuses to say the pledge of allegiance? Doesn't surprise me I guess, but where's the media on this one? Do they totally have their heads shoved that far up his.....
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -5/+13You're right SAR... I always make a joke whenever I say something questionable... 'In case Big Brother is watching this was just a joke'... What I was serious about is that it is our constitutional right to essentially revolt... Please I'm an interior design student from Florida... at best I could supply blueberry muffins and coffee for the revolution ;-)... (So again if Big Brother is watching this was a joke- well except the inherent rights part :D ).
