- ChessPieceFace, on 09/05/2008, -15/+139FTA: "In July, when legislators started talking about conducting an investigation, Palin denied any wrongdoing and said she welcomed an investigation.
"Hold me accountable," she said.
The Legislature took her up on that offer. But this week, she basically told the Legislature, "Never mind."
Ecce Republican! - axel000, on 09/05/2008, -10/+90The press should simply stop providing any coverage to the GOP until this ban on interviews by Palin is removed. They don't want us covering Palin, don't cover them at all. Hell, invite Obama, Biden and Hillary to speak on their behalf.
- digglet08, on 09/05/2008, -10/+72As a McCain supporter (LOLBURIED), I want to apologize for some of the crass comments made at the RNC by Giuliani/Palin/McCain. While I personally believe experience is critical for a president, belittling what Obama did as community organizer was low. My candidate should have his focus elsewhere.
I think that at least part of the reason some people can't stand McCain supporters is because there are a lot of idiot Republicans arguing for us with ignorance, and not about the legitimate strengths of the candidate.
Despite EVERYTHING you hear, there are intelligent, compassionate McCain supporters out there.
Happy voting! - lefty175, on 09/05/2008, -9/+70This isn't about her stonewalling the press. This issue is about her stonewalling the investigative and judicial process. The McCain Camp and she are trying to delay the proceedings, ignore subpoenas, and bury the issue. Sound familiar? It should. It is the same tactics that have been used by G. W. Bush & Co. Karl Rove continues to ignore Congressional subpoenas. Rove, Cheney, and Bush have replaced DoJ officials with their cronies; similarly, Palin wanted to go ahead with the Troopergate investigation so long as she could hand pick the individuals doing the investigation. Yeah, I'm sure she would pick impartial investigators. Not. The obstructionist mentality of the Republicans and their cronies must end.
- edmondburke, on 09/05/2008, -12/+52Why do you think they are keeping under wraps from the press - she is on 'a learning curve' for the post of VP!!! Just what one needs a heartbeat away from the Presidency with a dodgy Commander-in-Chief - Oh Lord, Spare Us!
- sugarazor, on 09/05/2008, -3/+33Isn't Stonewall the name of one of her kids?
- Wynner3, on 09/05/2008, -5/+32She fits right in, they are two faced liars. It must be a requirement on their applications or something.
- TybaltGreen, on 09/05/2008, -9/+34This women is the quietest politician I've ever seen. Either she has something huge to hide from questioning, or she is as dumb as the proverbial post. I don't suppose we'll find out soon which it is, either, they're talking about keeping her away from the media for weeks...
- twiztidsinz, on 09/05/2008, -5/+24People are investigating (and have put it on the 'fast track').
She is stonewalling, slowing down the investigation.
Oh wait... you're probably voting for them so this must all be typical "Democrat double talk". - aitoaster, on 09/05/2008, -4/+19Wow. Do you really think if McCain had vetted her that they would be trying to shovel this trash heap of scandal into the White House. You do realize if these two are elected that she WILL be President at some point. Heck, she might try to run the show from the start. Cheney did it.
- toofoocactus, on 09/05/2008, -15/+30This could have been a one week story, maybe a 1 day story, if Palin had dumped all the boring details on the media. But by stonewalling 'em, she's convinced the slavering TV hordes that's there's a THERE there. It's always the coverup that kills 'em.
- rz8472, on 09/05/2008, -2/+17Chicago is a city of several million, not 150,000. Also you forget to mention that Iraqis are obviously dying at greater rates in Baghdad than Americans are in Chicago... but those Sand Injuns aren't people anyways so it doesn't matter.
Also Obama was a community organizer in the 90s. What he did then doesnt have much effect on what will happen 18 years later. - DFutureIsNow, on 09/05/2008, -7/+21Your typical corrupt republican
- ironhide, on 09/05/2008, -2/+16So the opinions of people on Digg will decide how you vote in a critical election? You don't deserve to vote.
- twiztidsinz, on 09/05/2008, -3/+17Yeah! Stop digging articles about the person running for Vice President who, if elected, is next in line behind a man who's not in terribly good health!!
Someone get Chris Crocker.... he needs to make another video, - sousademiami, on 09/05/2008, -1/+14Wasn't it McCain the other night talking about how he's fought corruption both outside and within his party?
I guess he just can't fight it on his ticket. - kingofinternet, on 09/05/2008, -5/+18if she's got nothing to hide, if the trooper was a real piece of *****, then she should cooperate with the investigation completely.
smells fishy. - vicisaran, on 09/05/2008, -1/+13Oh my God!! A front page story on digg that mentions Palin that ISN'T marked as possibly containing inaccurate information!!
- pintomp3, on 09/05/2008, -1/+13wrong. she called herself a pitbull. a female dog is a... carry on.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -1/+12You guys got to see Joe Biden response to Palin's speech. Wow. Give ’em hell Joe!
- TSK05, on 09/05/2008, -13/+24The story that reached the front page only minutes earlier: "Investigation into Palin Now on Fast Track" - which is it? Is she stonewalling or is she speeding the investigation up. Generally, if you stonewall...things take..longer?
- dcmjzero, on 09/05/2008, -0/+11Since it is often hard to find a level headed Republican on Digg, this is the perfect opportunity for me to ask: why are you supporting McCain?
- jimrin, on 09/05/2008, -3/+14I assume you don't live in Anchorage then... Duh.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -5/+16Why does Palin hate America?
- stillcool, on 09/05/2008, -16/+27Sarah, say it isn't so! Let Sarah Speak!!!
- wwwonka, on 09/05/2008, -3/+13um, man that's a stretch. Maybe you should link drunk driving deaths to McCain. Why hasn't he sent a surge of troops into the bars to stop this?
- relsseigk, on 09/05/2008, -0/+10So basically digglet08, its not that you want to vote for McCain....you just dont want to vote for Obama and McCain is the other pick?
You were asked about McCain, all you did was talk about Obama. - qdkk, on 09/05/2008, -2/+12idiot.
- IphtashuFitz, on 09/05/2008, -4/+14In case you missed the update at the end of the article (like I almost did) it says the Palin lawyer complained when the independent investigator attempted to call Palin's husband on a "secure line". The lawyer threatened to report it to the Secret Service for being a security breach.
What a pathetic claim. - allnone, on 09/05/2008, -0/+10Biden, Obama, and McCain will all be on the Sunday morning shows and she'll be somewhere in Alaska. And judging from their statements, they don't plan on letting her do any tough interviews. Republicans think Americans will be dumb enough to fall for this, but they're gonna start to wonder where she's hiding and why only US and OK magazine got to interview her.
They'll wait for the debate and hope that Biden gets loud, so they can say, he's "beating up on a woman." - rz8472, on 09/05/2008, -2/+12Apparently she will be hosting 30 fundraisers in the next 60 days, so the only time she will be thrown hardballs (I hope) from the media is during the VP debates with Joe Biden.
Also during that time, Joe Lieberman is reportedly 'tutoring' her on foreign policy, which is just plain scary. - andrewrama, on 09/05/2008, -2/+12Only an idiot would allow a social networking site decide on how he/she votes. Nice try, but no one is that stupid. You are probably a registered republican playing democrat.
Go play dress-up on some faux news or dredge report blog. I'm sure they will fall for it. - stringerbell, on 09/05/2008, -4/+13You're expecting 'open and transparent, ethical and accountable government' FROM A REPUBLICAN?!?!? How ludicrous...
- thakur01, on 04/27/2009, -2/+11I don't even live in the US and I know that there's nothing fair and ethical about the republicans, don't be so damn naive. She and her cronies will try to ***** this thing over as many times as possible.
- ejde, on 09/05/2008, -0/+9That's just because Obama is a bit of an academic. McCain and Palin don't have high-level post baccalaureate degrees to help them out with little things like vocabulary or analytical thought. Republicans call that "elitist." But, I say - we already twice voted in a guy who we thought it would be great to have a beer with. Look how well that turned out! "Plain Talk" is just plain stupid.
Four more years would be a total disaster for the US. We need to space out each party's periods of dominance lest we fall into taking the shape of a totalitarian regime that we used to have a leg to stand upon while fighting. - envinoveritaz, on 09/05/2008, -2/+11Palin: Like Herpes But Better (the gift that keeps on giving and giving and giving)
Man, I wonder what Republicans heavies would like to do to McCain for this pick. What a nightmare for him. Guess he'll be 0 for 3 when this is all said and done, huh? - founderofpork, on 09/05/2008, -1/+10Gotta love it. The standard republican defense is--BUT, Democrats lie too!
Yes, but at least they tend to lie with a tiny bit of subtlety. I mean, you can just see straight through McCain and Palin. At least Obama keeps you guessing a little bit. - MKSinSA, on 09/05/2008, -0/+9Awww, like stupid flag pins and wright (stay tuned for Palin's pastor) and patriotism and Muslim? Whaaaa ...
- MindTrigger, on 09/05/2008, -1/+10I'll be surprised if you get an answer. The only ones I get from McCain supporters I know goes a little like this:
*We live in a dangerous world, and the Muslims want to nuke us*
*Obama is Black, and a Muslim* - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -1/+9http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/05/palin.troop ...
He said that he was a new Taser instructor, and his stepson was asking him about the equipment. "I didn't shoot him with live, you know, actual live cartridge," Wooten said.
Instead, he said, he hooked his stepson up to a training aid "with little clips. And, you know, the Taser was activated for less than a second, which would be less than what you would get if you touched an electric fence. ... It was as safe as I could possibly make it."
He said his stepson was on the living room floor surrounded by pillows, that he "was bragging about it," and that the family laughed about it.
Asked whether it was a dumb decision, Wooten told CNN, "absolutely."
The 2006 report called the incident an example of "extremely poor judgment," and noted that he has been trained in "the risks associated with use of the weapon on a child."
Wooten insists he has been "under a microscope, and everything I did was heavily scrutinized at the time."
The father of three, who was married four times, told CNN, "I'm trying to move on and be the best dad I can to my children. Be the best trooper that I can be. You know, I love my job. I love this state."
He added that McCain's choice of Palin as his running mate was "absolutely wonderful for the state of Alaska." - HarryRag, on 09/05/2008, -3/+11Both. She's that good.
- 2Chicos, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8"Palin's lawyer has asked the Legislature to drop its investigation. He had the governor file an ethics complaint against herself, in a bid to turn the entire matter over to the state Personnel Board, which would hire an independent investigator."
A new strategy for reform. - zacharytelschow, on 09/05/2008, -7/+15By all accounts, the trooper in question was fired of his own accord. He didn't exactly seem like an upstanding citizen.
"Among the allegations against him are: he used a Taser on his ten-year-old stepson; he shot a moose without a licence; he drank beer in his squad car. Not to forget the claim that he once made a death threat against a retired school teacher."
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and ... - revjustin2, on 09/05/2008, -2/+10I don't think they will be allowing people from New York, Canada to vote this year.
- msdrown, on 09/05/2008, -5/+13YUP, if they can't stand the scrutiny, stay the out of the race!
- stizz, on 09/05/2008, -1/+8~that poor woman...
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -1/+8Just the fact that she is stonewalling has sealed the deal, guilty people are the ones that don't talk.
- IphtashuFitz, on 09/05/2008, -2/+9Whether or not he deserved it doesn't have any bearing on whether or not Palin abused her power to get the job done. If it was justified then she could have just gone through normal procedures to get the same result. If she did abuse her authority then she still deserves the consequences.
- revjustin2, on 09/05/2008, -0/+7I hope to all that is good that the media doesn't lap up her speeches at these fundraisers and disperse them as having any validity. Who am I kidding? They will and people will regurgitate her talking points as if they are magical words of wisdom.
- beevbo, on 09/05/2008, -0/+7Biden should hit a major TV tour right now, show how open he is to interviews and wait for the media to start making the comparison between him and Palin. Put as much pressure on the GOP to release her to the media as possible.
