- hnazareth16, on 10/05/2008, -2/+96It's tough to tell if most Americans buy into the lies that Palin/McCain spew about Obama, but during the CNN broadcast of the VP debate, every time she mentioned terrorism she didn't get much of a reaction from the audience -- at least not as big as when Biden did.
- charm803, on 10/05/2008, -3/+67This year, I am going to vote for someone like me:
Someone who doesn't lie and who carries themselves with class and poise and didn't take 6 years to get a 4 year degree.
Obama/Biden '08! - dBass, on 10/05/2008, -1/+61Oh, one more thingĀ®
PA is out of play for McCain just like MI. I hope McCain stays in PA though. It will hasten his demise by using up his resources quicker.
Thank you Michigan! - dBass, on 10/05/2008, -2/+62How low can McCain go? He's already lower than snake's belly.
McCain has been playing the race card through the whole campaign; so far it hasn't worked. HRC tried to play the race card, it didn't work for her either. Now that there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the US economy is in the toilet, teetering on the brink of a, gasp, DEPRESSION, most voters want to hear about solutions and not smears and lies.
Unfortunately for McCain (and the rest of us), McCain is running out of room to land his pathetic campaign that he has piloted without a flight plan. And, now he's running out of room to land it and fuel - quickly! I am predicting Mr. '894/899' will crash this one like he's crashed so many other expensive tax payer financed machines before. On the flight deck are all those rethugs running for Congress that are not smart enough to clear the deck. They will get burned.
***** 'em! - thejimmyo, on 10/05/2008, -1/+48Can a presidential candidate justify a long and friendly relationship with someone who, back in the 1970s, extolled violence and committed crimes in the name of a radical ideology -- and who has never shown remorse or admitted error? When the candidate in question is Barack Obama, John McCain says no. But when the candidate in question is John McCain, he's not so sure.
...
What McCain didn't mention is that he has his own Bill Ayers -- in the form of G. Gordon Liddy. Now a conservative radio talk-show host, Liddy spent more than 4 years in prison for his role in the 1972 Watergate burglary. That was just one element of what Liddy did, and proposed to do, in a secret White House effort to subvert the Constitution. Far from repudiating him, McCain has embraced him.
How close are McCain and Liddy? At least as close as Obama and Ayers appear to be. In 1998, Liddy's home was the site of a McCain fundraiser. Over the years, he has made at least four contributions totaling $5,000 to the senator's campaigns -- including $1,000 this year.
Last November, McCain went on his radio show. Liddy greeted him as "an old friend," and McCain sounded like one. "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family," he gushed. "It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-ope ... - chrissku, on 10/06/2008, -1/+45I hope Palin does well on Dancing With The Stars next year.
- bitsculptor, on 10/05/2008, -1/+42Expect it to get worse as the "straight-talk express" realizes they're running off the rails. If there is one thing the republican politicians do well, it's fostering a culture of fear.
- Maurice2u, on 10/05/2008, -1/+35
The most ridiculous thing about this is that Obama was like 8-10 years old during the Vietnam era. Ayers is like a quarter century older than Obama and is now a University of Illinois professor. I understand the Republican mantra of anything goes attacks, but I'm sure they could come up with some more credible dirt than this. Something at least within the last decade. Quite another nail in the coffin to the argument that the McCain administration would be just like the Bush administration. Not only deceitful, but incompetent to boot. If you're gonna be an attack dog, have a bark, and a bite that people will at least respect (fear). This just looks like more fodder for SNL next week. - RSMiller, on 10/06/2008, -1/+34This woman is so close to toping my hated number one spot, Ann Coulter. God, damn these fascists.
- mageduley, on 10/06/2008, -1/+27Brokaw on The Today Show, talking about Palin's attack:
It's been a little curious to me by why the Obama campaign didn't address it earlier.
Brokaw on Meet The Press:
Would it have been wiser for him, however, to get at that much earlier than now, when--30 days before the election?
Excuse me, but WTF is Brokaw talking about? Barack Obama addressed this line of attack six months ago on a nationally broadcast debate. There is absolutely nothing new about it.
Here's what Obama said at the April 16 debate:
"This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis. And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense, George...
...So this kind of game in which anybody who I know, regardless of how flimsy the relationship is, that somehow their ideas could be attributed to me, I think the American people are smarter than that. They're not going to suggest somehow that that is reflective of my views, because it obviously isn't."
So Brokaw's "concern" is entirely misplaced. Moreover, I find it hard to believe that Brokaw believed the words that he uttered; for that to be the case, he'd have to be staggeringly ignorant.
Normally, such foolishness might belong below the radar. But the problem here is simple: Tom Brokaw is moderating Tuesday's debate. If he does as poor a job of moderating that debate as he did on Meet The Press earlier today, then it's going to be a long night.
www.thejedreport.com - apastafarian, on 10/06/2008, -2/+27Either you're a writer for SNL and this is a joke, or you've suffered a serious head wound and need to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Please, call an ambulance or get a neighbor to drive you. DON'T DRIVE YOURSELF! If you are a writer for SNL, the Tina Fey stuff is great as is your comment, but the rest of the show sucks.
- blankoboy, on 10/06/2008, -0/+22I don't really see anything cute about her. She looks like a bitchy primary school teacher. Tina Fey is the only thing hot about Palin.
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+22The problem with being a "pit bull" is that well thought out discourse is not part of the package. Palin made a lot of flippant comments that I hope come back to bite them....
- jahayiti, on 10/05/2008, -1/+22Who is the True " Terrorist " ?
- greensky, on 10/06/2008, -3/+22Palin has big ties with the Alaskan Independence party which wants AK to leave the United States.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwvPNXYrIyI - GorfTron, on 10/06/2008, -1/+19Lets see, Palin is friendly with a secessionist alaskan group, is being investigated for various abuses of power, was interested in banning books, an abortion extremist and wants abstinence-only education while her daughter was getting knocked up. Nice glass house. Go throw those rocks, Palin.
- RIB08, on 10/06/2008, -1/+17She is such a hypocrite. Hypocritical about religion, hypocritical about each campaigns ties.
Republicans need to DEMAND better! - mrgeekguy, on 10/06/2008, -1/+16Doesn't McCain and Palin fully support the Surge, in which we pay off former "Terrorists" that killed American Troops? Hmmmmm!
- 3szoom, on 10/06/2008, -3/+16I didn't read your entirely misinformed paragraphs except for the first and last sentences. Just by your statement: "He's just another rich, pampered white boy" show you don't know a single thing about him.

"the fresh approach Sarah Palin will bring to Washington "
It would be great it she'd be willing to talk about that in anything other than sound bites. All I really know about her "fresh approach" is that it involves expanding the powers of the vice president, being a maverick, and making sure one talks to the press as infrequently as possible. - YEEK, on 10/06/2008, -1/+14Yesterday, I watched a someone drive up to our mailbox and slide a CD into it. The car's license plate was YAYLORD.
The CD was a ridiculous rant about Obama being a Muslim, a terrorist, and possibly the antichrist etc, etc.
These religious fanatics are insane. - Steve31005, on 10/06/2008, -2/+15I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends... that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them. [1952] - Adlai Stevenson
- jamaph, on 10/06/2008, -0/+13Yeah, "it's like a Disney Movie."
- PhilLesh69, on 10/06/2008, -0/+12I remember when Liddy had a show on WJFK in the DC Area in the late 80's.
One time, I heard him tell people how to get around the law about felons not being able to own a gun. He said, very proudly, "All of MY guns are registered in my wife's name." (I think the local police even tried to investigate him on that one, but since they actually were all registered to his wife, they really couldn't do anything. If you ask me, they should have run prints, if even a single pinky print of his was on the gun, he should have gone away for illegal gun possession.)
Another time he told people not to buy semi-automatics, but to buy revolvers, because they never jam, and if a bullet ends up a dud, you just pull the trigger again, and you have six chances to kill the guy.
Liddy is a ***** nut. He's worse than Rush and Bill O, because he advocates the use of violence. He's like the Lyndon LaRouche of "kill 'em all and let God Sort 'Em Out" radical right wingers. - peticsu, on 10/06/2008, -2/+14at least Obama is going after McCain on Keating 5

- Shadoblak, on 10/06/2008, -2/+13Hey, so just curious VoteGOP.....Is this the Palin whose husband was part of an Alaskan succession group, the Palin who can't answer simple questions showing a basic knowledge of American and world events, the everyday Palin pulling in over a million dollars in income or the intelligent informed Palin who thinks Jesus had a pet velociraptor?
- apastafarian, on 10/06/2008, -0/+11Head wound with serious loss of brain function or SNL comedy writer. Your second comment didn't clear it up at all. Maybe if we had an MRI? I'm now thinking comedy writer, your second comment being so over the top and all. Still, if it is a wound, apply pressure directly to the affected area and DON'T OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY like fork lifts and tree shredders.
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -1/+12That's the August 2001 issue of Chicago Magazine. Try again.
- cadmiumpaint, on 10/06/2008, -1/+12Palin is an idiot. She'll undoubedly get carried away and accidenttally slip and make a full on racist comment that will end the campaign in its tracks.
I doubt she'll use the n word but something accidental yet volatile like "boy" "those people" "dark"...even saying that he's black in the wrong kind of sentence can be overtly racist. They're going to live and most def die by the sword on this strategy. - juicegd, on 10/06/2008, -0/+10NOTICE: The article is from AUGUST 2001. Get a Sarah blow up doll instead... do us and the country a favor! - PhilLesh69, on 10/06/2008, -1/+9Wow offnumbers, your comment is riddled with cognitive dissonance.
Biden was a natural leader among the students at Archmere Academy (a high school), and then he graduated from college with a DOUBLE MAJOR, ranked 506th out of a class of 688.
Didn't McCain graduate ranked 894th out of a class of 899? Or, 5th from THE BOTTOM at Annapolis?
Then Biden went to Syracuse to study law, and he admits he "underperformed". But he went to SYRACUSE. Isn't that one of the "public ivies"? Like Penn State, John Jay College, etc???
Biden received student deferments from the draft? Then why did you vote for Bush and Cheney? How many deferments did Dick Cheney apply for and receive? FIVE. FIVE DRAFT DEFERMENTS! And where was Georgie Boy? In the Texas ANG, but actually working for his father's Senate campaign? So George got to work for his father, and avoid not only going to Vietnam, but also avoided doing any sort of stateside military service.
Oh, and Dick Cheney also took 6 years to get his 4 year degree. And he didn't double major.
So what is your hero Dick Cheney, but a draft dodger and another pampered rich white boy.
Not to mention, McCain is a pampered rich white boy who divorced his dying wife in order to marry a Budweiser heiress for her money. - Mujokan, on 10/06/2008, -1/+9Please stop... laughing too hard...

- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -1/+9I don't follow US Politics, but... "Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect"
"This is not a man who sees America like you and I see America," she said. "We see America as a force of good in this world. We see an America of exceptionalism."
Would this really be a bad thing, if Obama didn't think USA was perfect I mean... Because most sane people obviously know that America is far from perfect, just like any other country in the world. Is Palin saying she thinks America is perfect, thus nothing needs to be changed? I thought every political party ever was about "Change".
Don't know ***** about USA Politics... So yeah, and I didn't even read the whole article. - woofers07, on 10/06/2008, -0/+7seriously, your complete ignorance frightens me. a lot.
- ell0bo, on 10/06/2008, -0/+7I live in PA... it's not out of play. It's ***** terrifying the people I know whom want to vote for him, and the people that think Palin did a great job at the debate. I will admit this election has me thinking differently about some people...
- Gabberwok, on 10/06/2008, -0/+7It pains me to defend Ann Coulter, but she's smarter than Palin. More psychotic, twisted and dishonest, but definitely smarter. She at least knows something about the ridiculous things she says.
- AmazingA, on 10/06/2008, -2/+9McCain is "palling around" with Bush- a leader who defines war criminal. As long as he's killing hundreds of thousands of non-Americans, and only a few thousand US soldiers, then it all cool.
I won't forget Katrina.
I won't forget that this war is illegal.
I can't deny that our President tortures prisoners.
Treason is a very serious crime, and George W. Bush committed it. - novenator, on 10/06/2008, -0/+7Liddy is an old style ultra conservative fascist. He actually spoke at my university when I was a freshman, I didn't know enough at the time to go speak my mind about it, but today, I would not let that stand unmolested.
