- charm803, on 09/05/2008, -24/+296First, she didn't support funding for special needs children and BAM! She got one!
Then, she didn't support funding for sex education, and BAM! She got a pregnant daughter!
Now, she is racist, can't wait to see what comes out of that! HA HA HA! - halftank, on 09/05/2008, -29/+292"They said the devil would come in an attractive disguise" - Ned Flanders
- GargantuanVan, on 09/05/2008, -35/+254Hahaha I love that her mother-in-law hates her and that she ran to succeed her and Palin refused to endorse her. They say, "stay off my family..." yet they have a pattern of bringing the family into the fold time and again
"It may explain why, when asked by reporters, including me, what she thought about Palin being picked to be McCain’s running mate, her mother-in-law replied with a sardonic, “What has Sarah done to qualify her to be vice president?” - hprotagonist, on 09/05/2008, -36/+244“So Sambo beat the bitch!”
OMG, can you offend anybody else? - Jauladeoro, on 09/05/2008, -29/+201For those LYING (like Palin herself), and saying "Sambo" is not racist ... IT IS RACIST AND YOU KNOW IT. Man, I'm so sick of you frigging liars. You lie and your party lies. How do you sleep at night?!
HERE - is the truth courtesy of Wikipedia:
"Sambo is a racial term for a person with mixed indigenous and African heritage in the Caribbean, also for a Black, or South Asian person in the United States and the United Kingdom. It is considered a racial slur in the US and UK but not in the Caribbean.
Several origins of the term itself have been proposed, but it gained prominence through the children's book The Story of Little Black Sambo by Helen Bannerman, in 1898. It was the story of a boy named Sambo who outwitted a group of hungry tigers. The book contains many Caribbean references.
The setting of Bannerman's story was in India — as can be seen by the presence of tigers and the reference to ghee. The book's original illustrations show a Sambo character resembling a golliwog, a European version sometimes viewed as an iconic, racist "darky" stereotype, which could be taken as a stereotype of African people. As the book made its way across the Atlantic to the US, the illustrations were adapted to the possibly more obvious stereotype known as blackface in the US. At this time, the racism of the term was not overt or hostile. But the unconscious racism evident in the blackface stereotype was clear. When the eventual public uproar brought the issue to the attention of the general public, some renounced the use of the term "Sambo", but others embraced it as a racial slur[citation needed]. Thus, the use of "Sambo" as a racist term went from being unintentional to being open and derogatory." - buckpower, on 09/05/2008, -27/+162Suprise suprise. Dolores Umbridge, aka the church lady, is a racist.
- blossomstar, on 09/05/2008, -36/+152After reading this article, I felt physically ill. It has given me the kick in the ass I needed to get out and work for OBAMA! YES WE WILL!
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -15/+112FTA: “The GOP is kind of like organized crime up here,” an insurance agent in Anchorage who knows the Palin family, explained. “It’s corrupt and arrogant. They’re all rich because they do private sweetheart deals with the oil companies, and they can destroy anyone. And they will, if they have to.”
---
"GOP is like Organized Crime." Hmmm, kind of like another big oil rich state.
Hint 1: Starts with a T.
Hint 2: War criminal / US President lives there. - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -15/+108diggtrollpolice,
LoL!!! With all do respect, whatever you spike your punch with, I really want some!
One of Palin's many growing problems, is the fact that she is from such a small state and smaller town. I spent some time in a small town years ago, everyone knows your business, there are no real secrets, and no matter how mean or politically vindictive you may be, the dirt always seems to come out. Palin is nothing more than a ticking time bomb for McCain.
Just the fact that diggtrollpolice is trying to convince folks that referring to Obama as Sambo, is not 'technically' a racial slur or offensive, this alone is testament to Palin's increasing political liability and exposure...It will get worse. And diggtrollpolice, some friendly advice, if you are walking down the street in your local town or city, I probably wouldn't recommend walking up to an African-American and calling him Sambo, my hunch is they may not appreciate the subtle distinctions you have laid out here, and may even disagree with you regarding the offensiveness of the term, call me crazy, but just a thought...
Now I am a realist. I completely believe such racial terms are use much more freely in places like Alaska, or many other places that lack diversity, that's just normal I'm afraid to say. Palin's problem is that she now has a bigger audience emerging on the national scene, and frankly stories such as this true or not, in addition to the new stories and eye witness accounts flowing out of Alaska like a river, will simply not go away, and will probably take on a snowball effect. Stories that further divide portions of the American electorate, turn off portions of the electorate, or even worse for GOP, stories that further motivate undecided voters to participate in even greater numbers in the political process is not going to serve them well at this point. In laypersons terms, they cant afford to pissing off more and more people with crap like this and still have a prayer of being elected in two months, the contest is too close!
Now I like John McCain, he is a patriot and decent man, with faults just like the rest of us of course, but I will not attack him because I respect his overall service to this country. However, the selection of this VP, was simply not prudent. Politics is politics, when a small state governor has clearly made political enemies in her own state, and is now in the national spotlight, those enemies are going to come out of the wood work at home, she is going to be crucified over the next two months in press, by her own fellow Alaskans, and of course the Democrats will most certainly not stand in the way, they may even give a little prod! I wish McCain had selected more prudently, at least for the sake of the GOP. - Jauladeoro, on 09/05/2008, -7/+95YES IT IS RACIST.

Well *****, if Lucille said it, it must be the truth! - sassce, on 09/06/2008, -20/+72Just when I think my determination to get Senator Obama elected could not be any more intense I read yet another disgusting account pointing to Palin lack of character and humanity.
May you continue to inspire us with your trash mouth and lying ways
Obama/Biden 08 - Revlution4ever, on 09/06/2008, -24/+76im guessing the McCain trolls are going to report this to digg as "inaccurate".
***** heads. - braininabox, on 09/06/2008, -9/+57Who the hell is Sarah Palin?
- SSPink, on 09/06/2008, -7/+52The hypocrisy of the family issue bothers me, the media is supposed to leave her family alone, accept for her son Track, they're supposed to report about his military service, oh, and her son Trig, they're supposed to talk about how Sarah defiantly had him despite the evil abortionists insistence that he be aborted. But so help you if you talk about her pregnant daughter, you are sexist and partisan, and you need to leave candidates' families out of this election! Except for Michelle Obama, you know, someone online says she calls people 'whitey' and hates America, but the "liberal news" is trying to bury the story!
I get sick and tired of the neo-cons having one set of rules for themselves and having another set of rules for everyone else. - aben9woaha, on 09/06/2008, -17/+59Now sending contribution to Obama Campaign, and forwarding story far and wide.
- glog, on 09/05/2008, -5/+41The daughter's baby's daddy is not really a white hockey player but an Eskimo dude? And the baby is gay?
- Sfenton, on 09/06/2008, -2/+37Did any of you guys read the article?
"According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively."
Guys, if you want to be taken seriously.... - eliot2000, on 09/06/2008, -9/+43I believe this. There are similar accounts of McCain making some pretty despicable jokes also. the problem is that we can't verify these stories because they come from unnamed sources.
Alaskans: if you heard something nasty or have some information, by all means bring it forward, but have the guts to stand by your story. - miligamalaga, on 09/06/2008, -1/+35OMG, Dolores Umbridge! That is the perfect description of Sarah Palin.
- charm803, on 09/05/2008, -1/+31OMG Would be so funny if her baby turned out to be not white and obvious.
- ozydingo, on 09/06/2008, -1/+30@diggtrollpolice
and ***** was just a derivation of the word "negro," which means black. What matters more than where a word came from is what you mean when you use it. - PhilLesh69, on 09/06/2008, -3/+31Some person from Alaska.
But apparently that means that the person has amazingly deep and complex foreign policy experience.
Because Alaska is close to Russia. - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -12/+40This was the restaurant where the conversation was overheard:

/I joke - Cuchanu, on 09/06/2008, -7/+34Yeah they are quite a duo. McCain hates Vietnamese. Palin calls Obama little black Sambo. And people wonder where the minorities were at the RNC. Probably outside protesting.
- Cuchanu, on 09/06/2008, -6/+32I don't know about evil, but I could already tell the vindictive and mean part was true in the week I've been hearing about her. First of all "troopergate" is obviously proof of her vindictive nature. And it's obviously true.
And in her speech last night she was pretty rude (so was Mr. 9-11. And did anyone else feel like she was running for class president? Seriously her delivery was very amateurish).
If there is one thing I can give Obama credit for it's that he is always classy and respectful. McCain is to a lesser extent (not his campaign people though, and certainly not his advertising). And Biden may be an attack dog but he doesn't resort to 3rd grade tactics to belittle people like Palin was doing in her speech. - chrisjj, on 09/06/2008, -10/+32Well there has always been an underlying if unspoken racism in the Republican Party - Palin epitomizes the Republicans' petty-minded, misguided, gun-toting, right wing. As some have pointed out elsewhere, Palin would be an excellent successor to Mussolini (http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Frank_Schaeffer_ ... ) . As for McCain himself, it took him 25 years to admit he made a mistake voting against instituting a public holiday for Martin Luther King, so McCain has pandered to the right continuously throughout his political career and will continue to do so until the not-so-far-off time when President McCain dies of old age and we will all be in a position to suffer the consequences of his self-serving alliances.
- mushoo, on 09/06/2008, -2/+25As a Mexican I'll be the first to say that diggtrollpolice is a ***** retard. Mexicans are some of the most racist people out there. These are the same people who saw nothing wrong with a comic book depicting a little black boy and his mother in the darky style. As further proof just look at Mexican TV, or more conveniently the spanish language channels in the US, they're full of light-skinned, blonde, european-looking *****. Same goes for the government, using Mexico as a defense for sambo is nothing short of stupid.
I wonder on which of her many out of country trips to Mexico Mrs. Palin picked up this "mexican" colloquialism.
I bet Mr. Troll was also one of those defending George Macaca Allen. - JenniferInMO, on 09/05/2008, -2/+25That's Earl-Kharma
- robdeth, on 09/06/2008, -3/+25Go into the street and call the first AA you see "Sambo". I bet you'll change your mind about whether it's racist or not.
- ProfessorSYM, on 09/06/2008, -1/+22Yeah, I'm sure the moose hunting "hockey mom" from ALASKA was showing off her knowledge of Spanish to her fellow Alaskans.
Here is the Wikipedia link I'm sure you meant to post:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sambo_(ethnic_slur) - SSPink, on 09/06/2008, -3/+25Martial arts came to mind for me as well, I'm a 26 year old white northerner and I have to admit I'm not very up on my racial slurs, because this was a new one to me, but thanks to republicans, I'm learning new ones all the time!
/macaca - Technoloki, on 09/06/2008, -5/+27"So Sambo beat the bitch!" sounds like something a drag queen would say.
- Terasiel, on 09/06/2008, -4/+26Someone wanna translate that? I thought Digg was in real English.
- chrissku, on 09/06/2008, -12/+34I hope this makes the front page. I also hope the msm picks this up.
- redcolumbine, on 09/05/2008, -8/+30"Sambo" is from the old children's story Little Black Sambo, about a little black boy who outwitted a tiger.
- linny57, on 09/06/2008, -16/+36Ok, so doesn't anyone else find her calling Hillary a b**ch very insulting, and calling her husband a f****ing eskimo insulting also?? What is wrong with this woman?? She acts like a man, oh I forgot, she's a pitbull with lipstick. We are screwed if they make it in office. This should be sent to every Hillary supporter.
- Jauladeoro, on 09/06/2008, -3/+23I suppose now you're going to tell me that when she called Hillary a "bitch" it was meant as a compliment because in the Caribbean it's used affectionately.
NEWS FLASH:
Sarah Palin is from Alaska (i.e. the United States) - not the Caribbean.
Stop it man, you're embarrassing yourself with your lame attempts at twisting the truth. - Jauladeoro, on 09/05/2008, -3/+23That doesn't prove anything. How many Americans have some Native American blood and are racist against minorities? Some people don't take pride in their heritage and some people are just ignorant and hateful.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -1/+20I'll tell you what... anyone on here saying it's not a racist term. Go down to the bar in the black neighborhood in your town, walk in, and say hey sambo, get me a beer to the first guy you see, and see what happens.
- charm803, on 09/05/2008, -1/+20It is racist in the term she used it.
Just like "*****" originally meant "ignorant" yet, it is used as a slur depending on the context. Other times, it is used as a brotherhood term.
So, in her case, she used it as a racial term. - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -2/+21You're insane. Look it up, it's racist as hell.
- pintomp3, on 09/06/2008, -1/+21back in 2000 mccain was badass. the 2000 mccain would not support the 2008 mccain.
- redcolumbine, on 09/05/2008, -18/+39"Sambo" is from the old children's story "Little Black Sambo", about a little black boy who outwitted a tiger.
- jontalisman, on 09/06/2008, -8/+27I actually feel kind of sorry for old John McCain because I'm pretty convinced this woman would stop at nothing to gain more power. Watch your back, Johnny.
- Laminarcissus, on 09/06/2008, -8/+26Let's keep in mind that the source was "Lucille," supposedly her waitress, who didn't want her last name used.
Quality sources, and the article was not in the slightest a hatchet job. I'm surprised it didn't say that her dog wouldn't take treats from her hand.
As an Obama supporter, I'm really surprised and disgusted at how many people and even how many so-called "progressive," so-called "news" sources are not respecting his request to keep our side of the campaign clean. - Jauladeoro, on 09/06/2008, -2/+19@diggtrollpolice - So now Sarah Palin is Mexican?
You're ridiculous. -
