- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -38/+606Vote fraud is still running rampant in the U.S.A.!!!!
- booksnmore4you, on 11/11/2008, -13/+458Oh, you mean THOSE ballots....
- GrandmaSheila, on 11/11/2008, -21/+445You could knock me over with a feather! Missing votes in Alaska, that uber patriotic (when not plotting to secede from the Union) home of those real bootstrap 'Merkins, who hate communism & socialism, except when it comes in the form of State profit sharing checks, and believe in law & order, aside from their bribe-lovin' felon Senator??? SAY IT AIN'T SO!
One illusion the less, I suppose...
Now count the damn votes! - algaeturd, on 11/11/2008, -17/+331They were under Palin's $150,000 stack of clothes, apparently.
"oopsie! Well looky there, don'tcha know! They were just a'sittin' there the whole darn time!" (wink)
Gag. - apec766, on 11/11/2008, -8/+248Can we, the rest of the United States, secede from Alaska?
- EarlOfLade, on 11/11/2008, -16/+237Alaska to the rest of the union: A polar bear ate the ballots!
- MediaWeasel, on 11/11/2008, -9/+229Oh! You mean, we've got to count them ALL?
- uncajoe, on 11/11/2008, -35/+247Rovian/GOP games are alive and well in the tundra!
- OstrakonX, on 11/11/2008, -14/+186There are two possibilities:
A) The election was stolen
B) They actually re-elected Ted Stevens, a man convicted of corruption.
In either case I am physically sickened by Alaska. - inactive, on 11/11/2008, -11/+169Is Alaska a country?
- BlankVerse, on 11/11/2008, -10/+156It's official: Sarah Palin's Alaska is now the new Florida.
- Berkana, on 11/11/2008, -20/+158Wouldn't it be awesome if Alaska flipped from red to blue?... perhaps I am a bit too hopeful.
- ennealogic, on 11/11/2008, -7/+113Hey, it takes a while to alter all those ballots. Err. I mean, to find all those ballots.
- peaceordeath, on 11/11/2008, -17/+104DIEBOLD NEEDS TO BE FORCED OUT OF BUSINESS. AHH but that would be bad for the sickening, corrupt Repuglican party. Douchebags.

- pintomp3, on 11/11/2008, -4/+72it was odd how alaskan voter turnout was the 2nd lowest in history despite an alaskan being on the ticket.

- Garmonbozzia, on 11/11/2008, -4/+68Everyone was too busy looking at Russia.
- offrdbandit, on 11/11/2008, -3/+58At least tech support on it should be cheap!
- Gemfinder, on 11/11/2008, -3/+48You betcha!
- Aadain, on 11/11/2008, -2/+46I'd just be happy to see Stevens lose. I don't believe that Alaskans would re-elect a convicted felon. But I might just be naive.
- HappyScrappy, on 11/11/2008, -10/+54I've been tracking this story from when it was first reported by bradblog.
This doesn't appear to be an actual story, more that bradblog misunderstands how ballots are counted in Alaska. I don't see any concrete info where the registrar in Alaska at one point considered the number of votes counted to be "all of them" and then added this 30% more. It was bradblog who seemed to think the Alaska count was done.
So most likely, bradblog just never monitored the count in Alaska before and didn't know it is done in this fashion and takes a long time. When your state is 1/3rds the size of the lower 48 and sparsely populated, all the ballots won't be counted in 24 hours. - MurphyWatson, on 11/11/2008, -2/+46Idiot, the issue wasn't uncounted votes for Obama, it was whether or not Ted Stephens got reelected.
- Alheithinn, on 11/11/2008, -6/+4429% of Alaskans don't live in Alaska? Right...
- apec766, on 11/11/2008, -3/+39Pew pew pew!
- Naieve, on 11/11/2008, -5/+40I swear, people do not even know what research is...
These ballots were not lost.
They were not counted until now according to Alaskan State Law....
These are early, absentee, and question (for people who weren't on the roll at voting precincts) ballots.
Because in past elections people apparently would use these ballots to vote numerous times in a single election, they decided they would have to go over all these ballots at a later date to ensure there was no voter fraud.
For real people, do a little research before screaming wolf.
This is how their election runs, sorry if you have ADD and cannot wait a few weeks for a comprehensive vote count. - 80hd, on 11/11/2008, -3/+37ted stevens.
Yeah otherwise who the ***** cares. - DreKor, on 11/11/2008, -2/+32Dontcha know, sometimes those darn ballots are just so G.D. hard to keep track of. Sometimes I gotta wonder if all this work votin' and countin' votes is really worth it, ya know? Wouldn't it just be a bunch easier if we just said who we wanted to be in charge and then they were in charge?
- JenniferInMO, on 11/11/2008, -6/+34"Merkins" lol
- Alheithinn, on 11/11/2008, -15/+43Imagine that, Republicans cheating in an election! *gasp!* I'm sure that's never happened before outside of every election in recent history.
- inactive, on 11/11/2008, -1/+29Ted Stevens is a corrupt piece of ***** and every single person in America knows it. Even Strom Thurman famously asked if we could sell Alaska back to the Russians just to get rid of Stevens.
When Strom Thurman says you're an *****, you know you're an *****. - gerrylazlo, on 11/11/2008, -13/+38Holy Jesus, who is digging this post down.
The 'Found' in the title and the blog entry is massively, irresponsibly misleading. These aren't votes that have been somehow purposely misplaced, they are part of the completely expected and well laid out method of the absentee and questioned ballot system they agreed upon. These votes didn't even need to be postmarked until the 4th, so of course they are still coming in.
It's this kind of unwashed ignorance that gives Digg a bad name. You blame Republicans for distorting the truth and people reacting to misleading information, well open your own god damn eyes for once when the same thing happens the other way around.
And read my posts. I'm not some republican troll. Just hold yourself to same ***** standards you hold others. Is that really too much to ask? - stronglikedan, on 11/11/2008, -4/+27Being from Florida, let me just say "Ha ha, Alaska".
- tbom, on 11/11/2008, -4/+26better reads here...

- evilrobot, on 11/11/2008, -2/+22TED ***** STEVENS.... don't forget; elections DONT just happen every four years; and they AREN'T only for president.
- Naieve, on 11/11/2008, -0/+19No, I'm saying if you use that system in Alaska you have to wait a few weeks for your vote to enter the count...
These votes were never lost, its just everyone in this country has ADD and doesn't realize that Alaska takes time for the final count....
Considering small aircraft is one of their main modes of travel for some people, I am not really surprised it takes them longer... - SilentRamble42, on 11/11/2008, -2/+21Buried for rationalizing.
- Blacksoth, on 11/11/2008, -2/+20Hope your electronic voting doesn't work the way it does in the U.S.
- Naieve, on 11/11/2008, -4/+21From what I have read, they were Absentee, early, and question ballots (which people who did not register have to use) and according to Alaska law they were not counted because in past elections people used the system to vote numerous times.
So basically while you are blaming everything on a vast right wing conspiracy, you should really just RTFA. - IAmTheGuy, on 11/11/2008, -4/+21Oil is rather nice to have though...
- Praelior, on 11/11/2008, -7/+24Ok, where does it say that this is a republican conspiracy? Where does it say votes were purposely being withheld and ignored?
Just using common sense, I would imagine given the size of Alaska, and the remoteness, vote counting would be much more difficult.
Using basic research on google this appears to be the case. Alaskan results are not certified by law, until 15 days after the election. Until then, the results are in no way "final". The "missed" votes are merely votes that have not been counted yet. This hardly means they were lost or ignored like the blog writer would love to suggest.

"(g) Upon completion of the absentee ballot review, the election supervisor shall prepare an election certificate for execution by the district absentee ballot counting board and shall forward the original certificate and other returns to the director no later than the 16th day following the election."
Honestly some people will believe anything they read on the internet as long as its posted on a blog and aligns with their political agenda. - Elliuotatar, on 11/11/2008, -1/+17Try reading the article. It's 90,635 ballots. And it may not make a difference as far as the presidency goes, but they elected senators and stuff too ya know.
It's pretty ***** scary that it took a week for them to notice a THIRD of all the votes in the state dissapeared. Who the hell is keeping track of this stuff?
Imagine if a third of all MAIL went missing, and what a ***** there'd be over THAT. But BALLOTS? Oh, no big deal! - ceredron, on 11/11/2008, -0/+15Hmm... then Hawaii is *****?
- Wakuko, on 11/11/2008, -1/+16"Now count the damn votes!"
and more importantly
get somebody behind bars! - inactive, on 11/11/2008, -0/+14Dear Alaska Secessionists:
Please. Feel free to leave...
...and watch half of your funds go away. Alaska spends $1.83 of federal funds for every $1 they contribute.
You're living on our shirttails, and the rest of America would be glad to throw you the hell off. Enjoy your %45 spending cuts. - johnboycanada, on 11/11/2008, -6/+20I've determined Alaska is now the stupidest state of the union! When your state has elected a 7 time felon to the Senate, you officially have no intelligence left!
- thedalailama, on 11/11/2008, -0/+14I'm a democrat and live in Alaska. Before you start claiming voter fraud read the Anchorage Daily News article.
http://www.adn.com/election/story/585074.html
This is not a case of election fraud.
- The 100,000 votes that have yet to be counted are made up mostly by absentee votes and question ballots.
- Absentee and question ballets are required to be validated since there has been situations in the past where people have used absentee and question ballots to vote twice.
- The state of Alaska has never claimed that the absentee and question ballots would not be counted. Even though Ted Stevens currently has around 3,000 more votes than Mike Begich, the election has not been called for him yet.
- If this was clearly a case of voter fraud you would think that Mike Begich would be calling foul.
Like it or not the reason why Ted Stevens may get re-elected does not have so much to do with him being a republican, rather he brings in a lot of money into the state. Earmark projects like the Bridge to No-Where puts a lot of food onto Alaskan tables and to think that people will not vote for their own interests is absurd. He has also played a big part in getting the Natural Gas Pipe Line project of the ground, which will employee thousands of Alaskans.
While I and roughly 50% of Alaskans do not agree with the choice of re-electing Ted Stevens, there is no evidence of vote tampering. - Jo9100, on 11/11/2008, -4/+18Well, we had to trash some anti-america votes because they weren't pro-america enough...
