Alabama host to tough House races

politico.com — Unaccustomed to competitive congressional elections in recent years, Alabama is now set to host two spirited House races this fall. The 2nd district, which gave President Bush 67 percent of the vote in 2004, is not as safely Republican as it has been in the past, partly because of a sizable African-American population -- nearly 30 percent.

  • BlankVerse, on 07/17/2008, -0/+1Even if Obama doesn't win any of the traditionally Republican Southern states like he is predicting, his 50 state strategy and the significant increase in participation of African American voters will certainly flip more than a few House districts -- maybe even in Alabama.
