- choochee, on 02/26/2009, -1/+4Thanks, Mr. Greenwald. Keep up the great work.
- derrickmarting, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3More troops to find bin Laden? I think not. More troops will heighten anti-american sentiment and bring more recruits to the Taliban; and that's the least of the damage that will be done. This is exactly what Osama bin Laden wants. Better intellingence and special covert tactics are what is needed to rid us of bin Laden, but cutting off the head of the beast will not cure a problem that can only be solved diplomatically and with sensitivity to the people of Afghanistan.
- perrbro, on 02/26/2009, -1/+3just like our position in iraq, using the military in Afghanistan is the wrong tool for the problem. one troop for every 40 citizens is obviously not workable, and especially when that means a 1/4M troops in total. to ignore the history of the British & the USSR in Afghanistan is also obviously not workable and will condemn us to repeat that history. if Democrats had the courage of their convictions, they would try other means and more constructive means to 'win over the hearts & minds'. but the worst thing you can do to a Democrat is call him names ('soft on terror' for e.g.) and so they cave in to pressure to 'show they can be tough too- like the GOP'. this will be a tragic mistake for our Country, our safety, our moral position in the world, etc. And especially for American military families who will bear the brunt of this tragedy, yet again.

- ritterrific, on 02/26/2009, -1/+3Wait a minute - we were already IN Afghanistan! We were supposed find Osama Bin Laden there but he became irrelevant in president Bush's agenda to go after Saddam Hussein.
I remember a letter a friend of mine wrote years ago in opposition to the first Gulf War. It impressed me because he was a Vietnam veteran speaking about peace and diplomacy. I forwarded Robert Greenwald's link to him and will forward it to many other like-minded people. It offers the opportunity to sign a petition to Senator John Kerry and Rep. Howard Berman to conduct oversight hearings before sending more of our troops into the fray.
I think the media misses the big picture about what are the really important issues they need to be reporting, for example, devoting hours to the "issue" of Michael Phelps smoking marijuana. Thank you Robert Greenwald for reporting on something truly important and giving us the chance to voice our opinion to members of Congress. - ainelynn, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1
Bin Laden is dead from end-stage renal disease briefly revealed in 2001. How could he have possibly survived? Are we to believe dialysis machines or transplant surgery in Afghanistan mountain caves? Why hasn't any media ever followed up on this issue? I wanna know if somebody continues wagging the dog. - MrXfromPlanetX, on 02/26/2009, -2/+3I should mention in relation to the Salon articles, Obama taking Bush's "State Secrets" policy is such a big deal because he's blocking lawsuits like this one from going forward. Does this sound like a man of integrity to you?

" The 25 lines edited out of the court papers contained details of how Mr Mohamed’s genitals were sliced with a scalpel and other torture methods so extreme that waterboarding, the controversial technique of simulated drowning, “is very far down the list of things they did,” the official said." - MrXfromPlanetX, on 02/26/2009, -4/+3I forgot these links from Democracy Now

I am totally against going into Afghanistan http://mrxfromplanetx.com/breaking-the-silence-by- ... but Mr. Greenwald, you should have seen this coming. - MrXfromPlanetX, on 02/26/2009, -5/+3I got an email from Mr. Greenwald on this video that said:
"I'm sure you feel, as I do, an almost palpable air of excitement and pride right now in having a man of Obama's intelligence and integrity in the White House. What I also find remarkable is Obama's conviction that it is imperative for those who disagree with him to speak out, make their voices heard, and discuss ideas without attacking motivation or character."
What integrity? Mr. Greenwald are you up in the night?

This makes me very mad because I blame people like you for putting this lying sack of $#!#$$ in the white house in the first place. Dems could have picked Kucinich who is honest, smart, and has integrity, but you let the media lead you by the nose to corporate Americas first choice. You even helped them do it. Nice job Mr. Greenwald.
