- Memesink, on 05/04/2008, -13/+435Well, better Tom Hanks than Tom Cruise.
- glaz, on 05/04/2008, -17/+131Worst Comments Ever.
- Michael9636, on 08/04/2008, -43/+140Great video. Go Tom!
- pablo0713, on 05/04/2008, -11/+98So because Tom Hanks is a celebrity, he has no right to express his opinion? Nobody is saying you should listen to a famous person and vote they same way they do. But famous people are in fact people and have every right to post blogs, videos, etc. just like we all do on a daily basis. While his celebrity gets him more attention than say some random kid posting his views about the election on Youtube, this should not invalidate what Tom Hanks is trying to express. It is up to you, humble reader, to decide if what a person is saying seems right to you...despite whether or not they're famous. This is a much better way of thinking as opposed to coming out and swinging against a person just because they're famous and have an opinion about something outside of movie making.
- wonkavsn, on 05/04/2008, -13/+82While I'm certain that you're very busy completing your doctoral thesis in political science, I was wondering if you could take a moment to back that up.

- 33iLL, on 05/04/2008, -24/+77Kudos! Looks like you had seven diggdowns, But I for one agree, and changed that to a -6. ;) As a culture, we need to learn to make our own decisions based on our own research. Just because someone can lie well (which is pretty much what actors do. Not to diminish GREAT actors who do it, it takes alot of skill. Tom Hanks is not a great actor.) does not mean they have any political sense at all.
Now beyond that, Why the hell, in this absolutely ***** economy, do we give a flying ***** what someone who's making millions a job thinks. Do they share the same concerns of the person trying desperately just to feed their family? No , they are financially sound and in most cases unjustly 'celeb'rated. Tom Hanks is not concerned about whether his job is going to last to the end of the year, or whether he's going to be able to pay off his medical bills, and frankly I'm not ***** concerned with what his political leanings are.
3!LL - Gullop, on 05/04/2008, -25/+75lol why do you Americans give a flying ***** which celebrities support who.
- Deodrus, on 05/04/2008, -18/+65That's cause Obama has the Wilson factor.
Wilson !! - PhireN, on 05/04/2008, -7/+53"I'm Tom Hanks. I wrote and approved this message and now I'm going to turn the camera off."
- BurningSky, on 05/04/2008, -8/+43Though he has absolutely no authority on the subject, at least Tom Hanks shows a sense of humour about the whole thing. This video may well get a few extra people to vote and, if it's for Barack Obama, all the better (he is my candidate of choice)...
- Jimmerz, on 05/04/2008, -4/+38Perhaps a college education tends to do that to a greater percentage of people.
Now get back to your 'real work' and make me that sammich. - fadeout, on 05/04/2008, -30/+62Crawl back into your tinfoil lined basement already.
- Pilot85, on 05/04/2008, -3/+35He made a video on the web, and it is discounted due to celebrity status. if he makes a compelling, eloquent argument, it doesn't matter who he/she is. No rational person would base their vote on a 2 minute video clip from an actor, but if he wants to make an argument for something, why hold it against him?
- uiguy3, on 05/04/2008, -4/+31Right but who is Wilson endorsing?
- friday1970, on 05/04/2008, -28/+54I should trust Tom Hanks judgement over mine because:
1. He's an actor
2. He's rich
3. He's famous
/sarcasm.... - Acewrap, on 05/04/2008, -4/+29Tom Cruise is endorsing David Miscavige. I'm voting for Xenu.
- obelisky, on 05/04/2008, -6/+30mopping mcdonalds, theres a mans job, right
- Acewrap, on 05/04/2008, -2/+24What if you have one of those chocolate schematics on the bottom of the lid?
- Tyorant, on 05/04/2008, -21/+42Oh right, guess I voting for Obama then.
Thanks Tom. - obelisky, on 05/04/2008, -5/+25this is what happens when everyone gets the internet...
- chukd, on 05/04/2008, -13/+33You hit the nail on the head. It is like Craig Ferguson said a couple weeks ago on CBS Sunday News, "Fame makes people think they have more power than they really do. It makes them think they are more important than the President." If a "famous" person is swaying your vote for a Political office, you need to turn off E! and do some freaking research.
- giveer, on 05/04/2008, -1/+19That dude's gotta lotta typewriters.
- usingpond, on 05/04/2008, -1/+19You are all complete retards. He knows it's stupid, he says he thinks so. And, it's on his myspace, it's not a ***** press release. Get a grip, no one thinks you're edgy.
- Duggan360, on 05/04/2008, -3/+20T.Hanks
- 55Test55, on 05/04/2008, -27/+44oh, TOM HANKS voted for O'bama? Looks like I will too!
Seriously, who gives a ***** what actors are voting for who? - chrissku, on 05/04/2008, -0/+17Since Wilson was probably born in a factory in China he is not a US citizen and probably will not be able to vote. I'm sure he would pick Obama if he could vote however.
- pablo0713, on 05/04/2008, -3/+19So who did you steal that line of thinking from? Rush? Bill? Sean? ***** tool....
- Kingmichael, on 05/04/2008, -6/+22Latins for Obama? There are no "Latins" anymore. The Roman Empire ended a looooong time ago.
- cg4et, on 05/04/2008, -4/+19Tom Cruise has jumped the couch.
- Sephaa, on 05/04/2008, -0/+14Hey that's a tom hanks quote, and this news is to do with tom hanks, you're smart!
- candyman682, on 05/04/2008, -5/+18I guess I should endorse a candidate too.
- Qyasogk, on 05/04/2008, -0/+13Did you not watch the video? He starts off by joking about his endorsement isn't really significant at all. An actors endorsement is no greater or lesser importance than anyone elses.
- withears, on 05/04/2008, -13/+26"f you're the kind of person who would say, 'Oh! Tom Hanks is voting for Obama, I'll vote for him too!"...then you're a typical American, I suppose."
And you're different, how? You post your opinion on here, as if anyone would really (a) care or (b) be "enlightened" by your "wisdom."
Here's a clue - everybody has an opinion. Tom Hanks expressed his (very well) and you expressed your (I assume, to the best of your ability). I can listen to both and if either makes a point that I had not considered, then I will factor that into my decision. If not, then I just disregard your opinion just as I disregard most of the other opinions that I hear.
See, it's easy. - swicken, on 05/04/2008, -3/+16He, just like you and me, has every right to say what he wants through whatever medium he has access to. You have the right not to listen to it.
I respect a person, no matter what pay grade they're in or what profession they have, who stands up and shows what they believe in.
As you said, his voice is not your voice. However it is everyones voice together that makes a nation. - Makurosu, on 05/04/2008, -3/+15Hollywood liberals... Damn you, Bruce Willis!
- rjwisniewski, on 05/04/2008, -3/+14I'm Hillary Clinton and this is my official endorsement for John McCain.
- inactive, on 05/04/2008, -2/+13Congratulations, you just took Freshmen Logic at some community college and know how to pick out a fallacy?
The argument he was responding to was in fact an Ad Hominem and it wouldn't solve anything to point that out. So what the hell, he just made fun of him. - Slackdragon, on 05/04/2008, -0/+10It's COULDN'T care less! You could NOT care less. To say "you could care less" shows you still have some vested interest in the situation.
So, since you -could- care less, answer Gullop! Why do Americans give a flying *****? Meanwhile, I -couldn't- care less. So I'll just sit over here awaiting your answer while Moe and Larry rub cheese under my chin to calm me down after someone has stumbled onto a pet peeve. - inactive, on 05/04/2008, -2/+12Hillary should jump the election
- inactive, on 05/04/2008, -3/+13I, for one, welcome our shadow government overlords.
- joeanon, on 05/04/2008, -0/+10*****, he sounded smarter than most any politician or media coverage we've heard from this ENTIRE election.
Pretending to eat cheese steaks and bowling. That's it people... and you're EATING UP THE ***** and loving it.
. - Makurosu, on 05/04/2008, -14/+23That was the endorsement I was waiting for. Now that Tom Hanks has finally weighed in, I know that Barack Obama is the right man for the white house.
- soogy, on 05/04/2008, -1/+10My name is Voit, dumbass.
- Rapter09, on 05/04/2008, -1/+10I see a lot of "Who gives a ***** if Tom Hanks endorses Barack Obama"
But the story has almost 1170 diggs right now.
Hmm... Funny that. - TheSkinsFactory, on 05/04/2008, -1/+10no, you're irrelevant in Hollywood these days. He's the guy who creates series like Band of Brothers with Spielberg.
- Xelseragoth, on 05/04/2008, -1/+10This is Tom Hanks saying, if you're gonna pick a government to trust, why not this one?
- jodokast, on 05/04/2008, -4/+13First of all, he's not muslim, and if you believe that he is then you probably also believe that evolution doesn't exist and the Iraq still has WMD's.
Second. I'm jewish and I'll be voting for Obama. - Startemus, on 05/04/2008, -2/+10Hell, if Millions of people paid to see me, I'd use my status to help the world along in the direction I feel it should go. So would all of you, so pipe down. This is why we Digg.
