- jeffbw, on 08/27/2008, -8/+80I can forgive the Czech thing; the "training al Qaida in Iran" bit absolutely no way. I don't care if it's senility or the failure to do the most minimal of homework, it's too great a mistake for a presidential candidate to make. And he said it more than once.
- spicecakes69, on 08/27/2008, -11/+65WAIT - he has an excuse ......... he's a POW and for 5.5 years he did not have to recall anything!
- writerswrite, on 08/27/2008, -9/+52Of course this is a legitimate issue. How can it not be? This is a man who, if he wins the election, will have his finger on the button. Do we really want to risk him nuking China because he got confused? Wake up, people! The straight-talk express derailed a LONG time ago.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -8/+40If Obama is "The Messiah" and a closet Muslim, and a Marxist, and all that, then it is fair game to say McCain is going senile.
How many times is he going to call Russians "Soviets" before people start worrying? I know I have been concerned for some time. Liked him in 2000, but have grave concerns in 2008... - DJShay, on 08/27/2008, -7/+38It's no wonder his handlers keep him from the press. Imagine if the press still had all the access they had in the past.
- paul94611, on 08/27/2008, -9/+35We must remember; "John McCain does not speak for the McCain for President campaign".
- swrostmore, on 08/27/2008, -2/+23"AQ in Iran" is no more evidence than senility than Bush's repeated efforts to link AQ to Saddam was evidence of senility.
It's an ideologically convenient lie, by blaming senility you are giving McCain a free pass for the reality of neocon malice behind his statements. - WasabiBomb, on 08/27/2008, -4/+20Please explain why a Muslim can't be President.
Then you also get to explain how, exactly, Senator Obama is a "closet Muslim". - dBass, on 08/27/2008, -10/+26Despite his claims to be Mr. Experience and Mr. Foreign Policy, McSame is only experienced in pimping himself out for lobbyist cash. And he doesn't know ***** about foreign policy or the effective use of international diplomacy.
I never thought it were possible, but McCain would be a worse POTUS than, {gasp}, dubya: He's dumber than a sack of rocks, has a temper like a tasmanian devil, is older than dirt, and not to mention, he's a dick. - stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -2/+16Mandatory psychological testing including testing for Alzheimer's should be mandatory for anyone running for the highest office in the country. There are tests that physicians should be performing on McCain, particularly when he exhibits potential memory issues of not remembering how many homes he has, gets confused about Al Qaeda, Sunnis and Shi’a, votes against his own bills, and has mix-ups saying he has been supportive of every VA bill introduced, when in fact he has a history of voting against increased benefits for veterans.
While campaigning in Louisiana, McCain boasted that he "voted for every Katrina investigation". When a New Orleans reporter pointed out that the Senator had, in fact, twice voted against establishing an independent panel, McCain insisted that he was "not familiar with exactly what you said."
"In the 21st century, nations don't invade other nations." Huh?
RUSSERT: Senator McCain, you have said repeatedly, "I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated." Is it a problem for your campaign that the economy is now the most important issue, one that, by your own acknowledgment, you're not well-versed on?
McCAIN: Actually, I don't know where you got that quote from. I'm very well-versed in economics.
"I believe that Saddam Hussein presents clear and present danger to the United States of America with his continued pursuit of...to acquire weapons of mass destruction." [CNN Late Edition, 3/3/02]
"I never said that it was a, quote, clear and present danger because of weapons of mass destruction." [Hardball, 9/17/03]
This guy is either an accomplished liar, or he has some serious memory issues and a potential Alzheimer's diagnosis that needs to be addressed BEFORE this election process goes any further. - growler1, on 08/27/2008, -2/+13I must be a proud Marxist too, then, because I find it doubtful that a man who can't remember his total number of houses and thinks that "less than 5 million" a year is middle class can truly understand the economic challenges of regular, everyday Americans.
Damn me, and my filthy communist tendencies. - growler1, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9Yes, he's a muslim. We're all in on it.
God Amighty. - twazzer, on 08/27/2008, -0/+9neither of those people are running for president
- 0Xonox0, on 08/27/2008, -9/+17In order to gain a better understanding of the current Georgian conflict, McCain has declared he will travel to Atlanta next week...
- Badandy127, on 08/27/2008, -4/+12More of them below you posted by "nixfu".
- KJSatz, on 08/27/2008, -0/+857 primaries/caucuses, ***** me!
- Badandy127, on 08/27/2008, -10/+18You're going to get dugg down by the mindless Obama horde here, but what you've typed is factual. They just don't want to hear a contrary view on Obama.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -5/+11McCain is too old to be president.
- RGNB, on 08/28/2008, -1/+8How many houses did he say he had?
Oh thats right, he forgot..
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Heeeeer_s_Johnny ... - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+7Oh, it's something about how Muslims are a bunch of barbaric savages and Christians are somehow better people than everyone else. Frankly, I say, you put a bunch of Christians in a festering, third-world *****, they're going to start acting like a bunch of barbaric savages, too.
- Cuchanu, on 08/28/2008, -0/+7"I know that he was as a child"
He was not enrolled in a Muslim school, EVER, it's a fact. He was enrolled in a non-denominational school as a Muslim because his step-father was a Muslim and when filling out paperwork for the school he put Obama's religion as Muslim. That's pretty much the whole basis for people thinking Obama was a Muslim and it's pretty desperate to try to use this as evidence he could be a closet Muslim.
And I guess the bottom line is who gives a *****? - inactive, on 08/27/2008, -3/+10dugg for the straight talk express derailed
- srlolcatehbrave, on 08/27/2008, -1/+7Although I know that Obama is not, so what if he is?
Is being a Muslim bad? Are all people that practice Islam bad? This question has been raised in my head over and over every time I see this - What the ***** is so bad with being Muslim? - PaulMorel, on 08/27/2008, -6/+12Sigh. I'm just going to call it as I see it: you're a bigot.
A. Muslim does not equal terrorist.
B. Obama is a faithful Protestant
C. Do you get all your arguments from spam emails? If so, I have some great pills to sell you ... - Jallegretta, on 08/27/2008, -6/+11It's funny how fast people forget about the savings and loan collapse. yay reagan!
- richirwin, on 08/28/2008, -2/+7Senility or Alzheimers, pick one.
He doesn't know how many houses, what kind of car he drives, what his votes were on key issues, ...
Something isn't right and I'm betting it's medical. - Diggnabbit, on 08/27/2008, -7/+12These are minor verbal gaffes and mixing up details on obscure things. If you think that they're even close to the kind of consistent confusion expressed by McCain, you're deluding yourself.
- 17999, on 08/27/2008, -6/+10Well,
Everything's up to date in Kansas City. - stillcool, on 08/28/2008, -1/+5Talk about low information voters, he's a low information old fat-cat Senator. The Senile Manchurian Candidate. Now that's frightening.
- ZenMojo, on 08/27/2008, -2/+6Except name, rank, serial number, and the starting lineup of the Patriots.
- hillaryj, on 08/27/2008, -3/+7I'm just waiting for Cindy to start saying "Just Say No" even though she owns the distributions of one of the biggest beer companies in America.
- richirwin, on 08/28/2008, -0/+4You can stop with Rezko.
Do you mean Tony Rezko who co-chaired the committee that raises hundreds of millions of dollars for Bush, McCain, and the rest of the republicans?
Do you mean Tony Rezko who was invited to (and attended) the 2003 White House holiday party by George W. Bush?
Do you mean this Tony Rezko?
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4484360
We're just waiting for the right time for you republicans to get froggy before we pull out the pictures of Rezko and McCain together.
Good luck with that Rezko thingy. - MWeather, on 08/27/2008, -2/+6leaving out the word vice, and referring to a country that hasn't existed for 15 years is quite different.
I'm sure Obama has forgotten where he left his keys at some point too, but McCain forgot how many houses he owns.
See the subtle difference? - ap0616, on 08/27/2008, -9/+13The man isn't all there - see TPM vid:
http://vodpod.com/watch/927574-tpmtv-dazed-and-con ... - Adgeman, on 08/27/2008, -5/+8Ok; so they both have misspoken a few times but I'll go for the one who hasn't voted with Bush 90% of the time thanks.
- zombies187, on 08/27/2008, -4/+8Arms for hostages FTW!
Remember when he went behind Carters back to negotiate a deal with Iranians to keep Americans hostage until after the election? That was as cool as when Nixon thought up negotiating with Vietnam to keep the war going untill he got into office! - WasabiBomb, on 08/27/2008, -5/+9TERRORISTS reject the central American values you listed- Muslims don't. They certainly don't give tacit backing to world terror, any more than Christians on the whole give tacit backing to the Westboro Baptist Church. Central American values also include homophobia, by the way- I take it you're all for that?
My parents were Church of Christ. I'm an atheist- I'm sure as HELL not a "closet Christian". What's your point, again? - PaulMorel, on 08/27/2008, -5/+8"Obama told a Portland crowd over the weekend that Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us”–cluelessly arguing that “tiny countries” with small defense budgets can’t do us harm– and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, 'I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.'"
You're taking this way, waay out of context. It's clear that you pretty much parrot whatever nonsense the McCain campaign peddles. What Obama actually said is pretty much the reverse of what McCain wants you to believe he said. McCain is deliberately lying to you. Here's what Obama actually said: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew5qP2oPdtQ
Funny how, in context, Obama's words mean the opposite of what McCain wants you to think he said. Actually, it's not funny at all, because people like you will believe him, and we will get 4 more years of a president who cares more about CEOs than about regular Americans. - nixfu, on 08/27/2008, -3/+6President for next 10 years?
- WasabiBomb, on 08/28/2008, -3/+6112,000 mentions of Obama's "gaffes" on the internet does NOT equal 112,000 gaffes, you moron.
Here, have 485,000 McCain gaffes: http://www.google.com/search?q=mccain+gaffes&sourc ...
By your logic, McCain is 4 times worse than Obama, right? - krahzee, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3Ashwinmudigonda
According to the Politico: ¨Sen. McCain himself does not own any of the properties. They're all owned by Cindy McCain, her dependent children and the trusts and companies they control.¨
Seems reasonable for a multimillionaire given that he was probably busy in DC half the time she saw and bought the properties. Itś not like it was huge investment risk for him given their wealth so why the ***** would he care?
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0808/12700.ht ...
Does this make him out of touch? Perhaps. There have been quite a few politicians of less than humble means through the years though. It tends to be successful people who run for office. Even the ones poor going in cash out on the way out (Clinton for example with the book and speaking deals)
MY point was that if you want to have an issue with the man over policy, or concerns about his health due to the history of cancer go for it. To pick this as a rallying cry is as you described me ¨petty¨.
Like the whole ***** over Obamaś nut job ex-minister, this type of issue distract and filters out really political discourse and has people voting less on the issues and more on a popularity contest. - scoottie, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3i wasnt alive back then but it seems liek JFK could have been a great president
- ZenMojo, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3Teleprompter? He was sitting in someone's living room.
- krissy575, on 08/28/2008, -2/+5Too dumb to be President? Really? He graduated from Columbia and Harvard Law School. Was the editor of the HArvard Law Review, a law professor and he did this ALL on his own merit. While McCain graduated in the BOTTOM five of his class at the NAval Academy and it's been speculated that the only reason he graduated was because his daddy was an admiral. Obama writes his own speeches, wrote 2 books ( actually wrote, not "co-authored" like McCain did.) We've already had an undereducated -I've only got where I am because of family connections- womanizing -harddrinking knucklehead for a President. This country doesn't need a nother version of "W" in the form of McGrampy.
- ZenMojo, on 08/27/2008, -4/+6You really have no idea, do you? Obama's careful managing of soundbites and professorial explanations while seated at a table across from a reporter is nothing compared to his freestyle, off-the-dome mastery of rhetoric in the absence of teleprompters and notes.
Just do a youtube search of "Obama townhall" and then compare it side-by-side with McCain's performance. It's not even a contest. - JSager, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3That's actually the first good response from a conservative that I've seen in this whole argument.
But there's also a difference between short term memory and long term memory, and there's a difference between both of those and forgetfulness. - oldgal, on 08/28/2008, -1/+3I am much more concerned about his world view. I know a few folks over 70 who have a very young world view - they use technology, still get excited about NASA stuff and technological innovations, are enthusiastic about new ideas and are fascinated by the creativity of our young people. I do not see any of this in John McCain or his advisors; in his policies or in his campaign strategies (seemingly ever changing) or tactics. If we are to dig ourselves out of the mess we are in (economic, foreign policy, broken executive branch, etc.) it is going to take creative thinking and innovative use of technologies.
- badnewshotel, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Wow - and with all of that he still comes off as a moron who can't talk without a teleprompter and who hates America. Amazing.
Oh, and he wasn't a law 'professor, he was an adjunct instructor at best. I know the difference, do you? Or do you think we're too stupid to realize the ***** being thrown at us by dumb Barry's campaign?' - qber, on 08/27/2008, -2/+4Even if most terrorists are Muslim, how does that refute PaulMorel's point that Muslim does not equal terrorist?
Logic fail. - malex, on 08/28/2008, -1/+3First off, nobody claims he's perfect except you.
Second, your youtube clip isn't half as damning as you seem to think it is.
I'm perfectly happy and proud to vote Obama 08, faults and all. Let's hear you claim the same for McCain. -
