- corryface, on 05/16/2008, -7/+43that is the definition of a can of whoop ass
- poidh, on 05/16/2008, -5/+33I'd like to be flying the white and blue one on the far right - it looks like the king daddy.
Then I'd like to land and tell one of my colleagues that he can be my wingman anytime then laugh as he tells me that *****, I can be his. Then off to the showers to shave all of our body hair, or something. - yaddayaddayoda, on 05/16/2008, -2/+22Dude, that's a whole _case_ of whoop ass.
- snareguy17, on 05/16/2008, -5/+21Reminds me of how impossible it was to land in Top Gun for the NES.
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -9/+23Team America, ***** yeah!
- reisrocks, on 05/16/2008, -12/+26Enjoy. This is your tax money.
- topace3000, on 05/16/2008, -5/+19So how's that pigfistin' going?
- JosephShell, on 05/16/2008, -9/+23When you absolutely, positively have to wipe out an enemy country's infrastructure, accept no substitute.
- poidh, on 05/16/2008, -7/+20What a *****.
- cygnus2112, on 05/16/2008, -1/+13Yes, it's certainly because of the euro change. That's why the U.S. would want to bomb all of Europe: currency conversion.

If you're going to be a dick, at least take the time to proofread. - Terrk, on 05/16/2008, -2/+13You are correct! They are still used for training, but they were taken off aircraft carries and replaced with the shorter ranged F-18

It had become cost ineffective to maintain the Tomcat in flying order and they have all been replaced by F/A-18s. They are not used for training now either. The only nation flying the F-14 now is Iran.
- dacrazydude, on 05/16/2008, -3/+13I thought the F-14s were decommissioned and replaced by the F-18's? Is this an older photograph or are the F-14Ds still in service?
- vroom101, on 05/16/2008, -4/+13Air-to-air front view of an armed U.S. Navy F-14A Tomcat fighter jet over the Indian Ocean shortly after takeoff from USS America (CV-66). The F-14A "is armed with two AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, centerline, two AIM-7 Sparrow and two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles (outside), mounted on wing pylons."

- LeRenard, on 05/16/2008, -1/+8Heh, the funny part about your post is that the only one flying these planes now is Iran.
- seraph582, on 05/16/2008, -4/+10hey reisrocks - we'll spend close to 1000 times as much on government entitlement programs like medicare and social security - and a healthy chunk of that will be spent on non-citizen illegal immigrants.
BUT THAT'S COOL - let's gripe about the government taking citizens' money and investing it into an industry that employs some of our country's most skilled engineers. THAT'S COOL.
Try getting your opinions from somewhere other than the television or newspaper, my friend - like, oh I dunno, your OWN BRAIN? - richiewrt, on 05/16/2008, -0/+5why would someone named "pigfister" try to insult anyone?
- hollyminkowski, on 05/16/2008, -1/+6They are grinding these old F14's into scrap.
They don't want the parts to be sold to Iran to keep their old F14's flying.
The planes you see on that ship are probably already piles of trash.
My dad took me to a huge airplane graveyard in Arizona... acres of enormous old military planes...it was awesome. - poidh, on 05/16/2008, -3/+8Sweet. Make sure you keep us all updated as to the status of your wallpaper at work. Don't bother telling us about the wallpaper you use at home though because that's not as exciting.
- tehrich, on 05/16/2008, -1/+6One of them near the top left looks like its tail fins are painted with the UPS colors and logo... That'd be some fast delivery...
- andrewpate, on 05/16/2008, -0/+5Yeah. That f-14 that is taking off is from. VFA-102. The diamondbacks baby. I'm from that squardron. so yeah. :) This photo is old by the way. We got F-18's now... The blue one is from VFA-192..
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -8/+12Great way to transfer money from USA taxpayers into the pockets of greedy war profiteers.
- noots, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4anyone know what the blue/white one is for? training?
- Phernoree, on 05/16/2008, -5/+9I was hoping this was a screen grab from Red Alert 3...
- x00x, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Finally, a grand, spectacular post that lives up to its hyperbole.
- cygnus2112, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Does it mean I can fly one of them low over some projects?
- seraph582, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4now's not the time to talk about your undies
- poidh, on 05/16/2008, -1/+5What a simple brain. It's almost as if the cerebral folds which most of us take for granted for our intelligence have not developed within your head.
- cygnus2112, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Could've been worse. Could've been about Obama or Hillary.
- Fanrir, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3♫You've lost, that loving feeling♫
- Asvetic, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3I'm a graphic support lead for a Navy contractor, and my life blood comes from the Navy NewsStand photo archive. Great photos at very high resolution... there really are some awesome photos on their site!
- Terrk, on 05/16/2008, -3/+6It's a shame they retired the F-14!
I think this will be my wallpaper for a few weeks at work! - burstaneurysm, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3I'd hate to have to parallel park one of those.
- x00x, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3Thanks for adding these great images. :-)
- DrNil8tor, on 05/16/2008, -1/+4Hey that's my old squadron! kick ass!
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -2/+5God damn right we do.
And of course lets not overlook the fact that these things protect your ass too. You think Canada doesnt get the huge benefit of having the lone super power of the world to the S of it? There is a reason your military is so small, yet you are so secure. Here is a great picture of it. - inactive, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3That is an ass load of firepower. Great images, didnt know they could cram so many jets onto the deck at the same time.
- tomj88, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2No, and they almost certainly never will be. As stated above, The F-35 will be the next carrier capable jet to come into service (I believe it is stated to come into service in 2011/12)
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Someone's gotta do it.
- Ducksa, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Ugh.
- JayKeaton, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Touche cygnus, touche ^_^
- seraph582, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2good question!
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -4/+6Meanwhile, America collapses into a totalitarian dystopia:

- masteryoda, on 05/16/2008, -1/+3Are the Raptors carrier capable?
- dbXXd, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1Not to mention the airframe itself is close to 35 years old.
- 1807, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1IF you want to know what they're talking about..check out the angry nintendo nerd's website...
