- Crusader1145, on 02/12/2008, -4/+44Or maybe she just admires homicidal lunatics. Maybe off camera there's a picture of Charley Manson too. This is just appalling and an insult to freedom loving people everywhere.
- lgfaphile, on 02/12/2008, -3/+38It isn't "socialist" that's the problem. Its that "Che", the heroic revolutionary you idolize so, murdered thousands. He was a butcher. Problem with most communist regimes (Che was a communist, not a democratic socialist like the European version) is that the people living in them don't want to live that way. Given the choice, they vote with their feet...see e.g. Eastern Europe. The Iron Curtain wasn't built to keep the west out, it was built to lock its subjects in. Instead of leveling brainless insults, try getting your historical facts straight.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -2/+37Cuban or not Cuban, she shouldn't have Che Guevara's likeness on display. Leave that Communist revolutionary ***** in Cuba.
- jamesotis, on 02/12/2008, -5/+39Yeah, maybe she's a Hottentot. I think you're missing the point.
- KillgoreTrout, on 02/12/2008, -10/+44Hooray for Socialism!
- KillgoreTrout, on 02/12/2008, -5/+38So you think it was left by the previous tenants?
Heh. - TheSchwa, on 02/12/2008, -1/+34This makes me sick. My Mom was kicked out of Cuba when Castro came into power, and most people don't realize what a horrible person Guevara was; he was a murderer guilty of numerous human rights violations. It's one thing to support communism, it's another thing to supporter a bastard.
- COINTELPROAgent, on 02/12/2008, -8/+40Heh...I've heard that Obama isn't doing too well with latinos...this is a small part of the reason why he isn't doing too well with them, but is doing well with the white youth demographic.
Maybe it was only some dumb office manager that put it up, but if I was running a campaign I'd definitely use this against him, especially in Florida. First I would ask "Does Obama approve or condemn this?", and any response short of condemnation is fodder for a kick-ass commercial.
But Grandpa GOP would never think to take advantage of an opportunity. - Varchild, on 02/12/2008, -12/+44A vote for Obama is a vote for CUBER!!! Long live CubeRrrRrrrRrrrRrrrRrrr!
- lgfaphile, on 02/12/2008, -4/+36The more we get exposed to Obama, the more things just aren't right. Maybe that's why he hasn't said anything of substance yet...except for two things: He would attack Pakistan and he wants to sit down with Ahm-A-DinnerJacket pronto on getting elected. Let's hope none of those things happen.
- goforbroke, on 02/12/2008, -7/+38Birds of a feather....
- Glynth, on 02/12/2008, -1/+30Most Cubans in America came here to AVOID the mass-murderers and their friends that run the regime the far Left considers a "socialist paradise" and its "utopian health care" system.
- 140Suffolk, on 02/12/2008, -5/+34How many diggers and diggettes know the facts about Che? He was a multiple murderer. He was the one who signed the death warrants for hundreds, maybe thousands of farmers who declined to turn their farms over to the revolution. No crime. No trial. No Freedom of Information Act. Just Che signing off and a firing squad at dawn. He was known for marching the widow and children past the bleeding body of their father. Piece of *****.
And this is what Obama stands for. - semrocks, on 02/12/2008, -4/+30The Obamabots are going to go nuts about this.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -3/+28While you and I (and most anyone with a clue about history) might accept that comparison, these idiots "kids" have turned Che into a fashion statement. Repugnant as hell, but I would be willing to bet if you asked her three questions about Che Guevara, she couldn't answer any of them correctly.
If she CAN, and still has the flag flying, she better be ***** GONE... - inactive, on 02/12/2008, -4/+28So if a McCain volunteer hung up a picture of, say, Heinrich Himmler you wouldn't see a problem?
- Chip53, on 02/12/2008, -2/+25This Obama guy is turning into one scary bastard.
- 140Suffolk, on 02/12/2008, -1/+24Give me an example where communism did NOT result in the same kind of mass murder? USSR, N Korea, Red China, Kampuchea, Viet Nam...all the same. Work camps. Secret police. Re-education camps.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -1/+23In case the video at the link goes missing, here's the segment with the flag:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=DCja99KpjWU - Varchild, on 02/12/2008, -3/+25Speaking of bigotry....Weren't you the one who recently praised CODE PINK for illegally blocking the entrance to an United States Marine facility? yup.
- DanThePainter, on 02/12/2008, -3/+24Personal space that ended up on the local news show.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -11/+31I wonder what message he was sending there. We already know that he violated the law when he refused to put his hand over his heart when the anthem was performed and now this communist flag in his office?
Where does it end with this guy, is he TRYING to lose? - inactive, on 02/12/2008, -1/+20http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id ...
Read this and tell me he didn't kill in cold blood. If Che Guevara didn't kill in cold blood then neither did Heinrich Himmler. And do you seriously think that it would be fitting for a McCain supporter to admire Himmler? - inactive, on 02/12/2008, -3/+21Every POTUS for the past 75 years has been best friends with the Saudis, because we need their oil, and I agree that it's ***** that we are so friendly with a country like that. I also agree that a low-level volunteer/staffer having a picture up there doesn't prove anything about the campaign. It is certainly a minor PR problem for the campaign, and I'd only be concerned about this incident if I find out that this person wasn't fired.
- Hortnon, on 02/12/2008, -3/+21"...is he TRYING to lose?"
...says the Paul supporter.
Classic, and hilarious. - COINTELPROAgent, on 02/12/2008, -5/+23I didn't say he was your candidate, I said he is cashman's candidate. And yes, we should have kicked Ron Paul out of the party a long time ago.
- COINTELPROAgent, on 02/12/2008, -12/+29No. Obama is not a communist, but your candidate Ron Paul is a racist.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -0/+17You can't be serious.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -2/+19Well I'd say it definitely matters to the older generations, and it would matter to me if Obama actually let this person continue working/volunteering for his campaign.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -3/+18No they won't. They don't even go nuts about the NOI ties. Some say that it's "*****" and has been "disproven", but when I haven't seen anything debunking that.
- Erythroxylum, on 02/12/2008, -3/+18Hey, it's that mass-murdering communist t-shirt salesman again. Fancy that.
Anyway, maybe this woman just likes to have a Cuban flag with an Argentinian communist terrorist on it. You know, like pregnant women getting cravings to eat ice cream with pickles in or lumps of coal or what have you. Or maybe she advocates the practice of locking up, torturing and/or killing political opponents. Who knows. Who cares.
http://che-mart.com/ - BohicaTwentyTwo, on 02/12/2008, -3/+18I prefer this picture:
http://www.blackfive.net/.shared/image.html?/photo ... - Idiggapony, on 02/12/2008, -3/+18How about the fact that the flag is hanging in his Houston campaign office?
I will think that Obama stands for this, if he doesn't fire the staffers involved and unequivocally distance himself from their actions. If he does, then I won't hold it against him. - Troika37, on 02/12/2008, -0/+14“To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary…These procedures are an archaic bourgeois detail. This is a revolution! And a revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate. We must create the pedagogy of the The Wall! (El Paredón)”
— Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara
That IS killing in cold blood, and shows, in Guevara's words, that he was uninterested in combat or any judicial process. You stated that he never killed in cold blood, but only during a firefight. Che's own words show you are incorrect. I do not think you're an idiot, merely misinformed. Perhaps some more research on the subject will yield more accurate information. - Idiggapony, on 02/12/2008, -2/+16Agreed. The display of Guevara's likeness in an Obama office is offensive. But if Obama speaks out quickly and strongly against this and fires everyone involved, I won't hold this against him.
I'm now waiting for him to do so. - Idiggapony, on 02/12/2008, -1/+15Of course what this individual puts up in her office during a TV shoot reflects upon Obama. It's not Obama's fault at all if a few people with objectionable views happen to join his campaign, that's bound to happen to every candidate. But it is his fault if he doesn't fire the person responsible and express his disapproval. I'm waiting to see if he does that, and I expect that he will.
I disagree with your characterization of Che Guevara. He was an executioner who murdered thousands of political prisoners, among other egregious acts. He did kill in cold blood. Regardless of how bad Batista was, Che Guevara does not belong in the office of someone who wants to be President of the United States.
Despite that, I agree completely with you that Himmler was exponentially worse. I don't think that jcm267 meant to imply that the two men were equally evil -- I believe that post was meant to intentionally create an extreme hypothetical situation, in order to make the point that a candidate bears some responsibility for the actions of his or her campaign workers. But it could be read as equating Guevara's evil with that of Himmler, and such an equation would be wrong.
I think your last post above was thoughtful, well-written, and constructive. But your suggestion that a McCain volunteer's hanging a picture of Himmler would be "fitting" is stupid and offensive, and does not merit polite disagreement. - Troika37, on 02/12/2008, -2/+16“To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary…These procedures are an archaic bourgeois detail. This is a revolution! And a revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate."
— Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara
You're right, he was a swell guy. - FritzKatz, on 02/12/2008, -3/+17Hooray for Progressivism! (It's the same thing).
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -2/+15I would love it if you left the US and didn't come back.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -2/+15What are NOI ties? Who is wearing them?
- Klingon00, on 02/12/2008, -1/+14The problem with "socialist" is that socialism is a slippery slope towards fascism. Socialism = BIG Government, and the only way to enforce it is to impose some sort of Fascism and it harms the personal freedoms of everyone.
It's almost funny, most Socialists have a problem with BIG Business, and BIG Oil, but have no problem with BIG Government. Doesn't that seem hypocritical? What makes a political leader any more likely to be benevolent with our freedoms and tax money than some CEO of a large corporation? Their goals are often the same, increase the size of their organizations. Unfortunately the problem is, personal freedoms become sacrificed on the altar of "For the good of the people". - inactive, on 02/12/2008, -1/+14http://www.therealcuba.com/Page10.htm
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -3/+15I do so as well! The only good commie is a dead commie bastard!!
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -2/+13Never mind. I just had to google "NOI" instead of "NOI ties".
- Hortnon, on 02/12/2008, -2/+13I still haven't seen substantive proof or corroboration on that one, that's why I'm holding my condemnation.
- Idiggapony, on 02/12/2008, -2/+12macjaeh, I'm going to go ahead and digg your comment back up again, so that everyone is sure to see what an idiot you are.
- Troika37, on 02/12/2008, -2/+12The fact that the flag is hanging in his office doesn't strike you as tacit support? Where is Obama today, condemning any association with Che and firing the staffers who did this behind his back?
- amiches, on 02/12/2008, -3/+13Not a lot has come out about this, but I've been told by friends on Obama's staff that this isn't an official office but a independent group of volunteers doing phonebanking and canvassing.
You've got to be stupid to think that a candidate on a national stage would decorate his own offices with pictures of Che. - Troika37, on 02/12/2008, -2/+11Very well, the instant Obama kindly, and in gentle tones asks these volunteers to stop frequenting places that bear his name, I'll move past this. His silence on this matter is telling.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -2/+11South and Central Americans tend to be more sympathetic towards Communism. In my mind, Communism is still a very bad word and the people who run Communist states are murderous thugs. And to be honest anyone who believes that Che Guevara was a good in any way doesn't belong in the US.
