-Rudolph Guiliani - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -50/+196Giuliani is an insane, sad, mentally sick madman.
- str3ama, on 10/12/2007, -26/+110haha...no presidency for you Giuliani!
- christianw, on 10/12/2007, -19/+79the way he talked to that guy isnt what bothered me.
its how rudy just up and decided he was qualified to make a medical diagnosis about this guys "obsession".
man thats nothing.
wanna see obsessive in an unhealthy way rudy? tell a chick youre getting rid of her cat. THATS obsessive overraction my friend. - BigFoot48, on 10/12/2007, -9/+50"Well, he is a republican, I don't expect much sanity from that group of little wienies that try to make up for their low self esteem by putting others down."
And you just did what? - Cwo655321, on 10/12/2007, -15/+56where is the "*****", the callers sounds more ***** than him.
inaccurate. - futureisours, on 10/12/2007, -5/+45While Giuliani was out of line with his.. you're sick psychobabble... this was the guy's second call to him on the subject. who knows what transpired during the first call. would be nice if they posted that one to get the full context. Maybe Giuliani has a right to be mad at this guy, though I disagree with his mischaracterization of ferrets as weasels.
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39Hi, Im a...err...on a PC and it plays fine, but I am too busy making spreadsheets and doing mundane tasks.
- nekeno12, on 10/12/2007, -5/+36Okay, first off, he's right about the fact that ferrets are much like weasels as they are both of the Mustelidae family.
But, that doesn't give him the right to try and diagnose this man with a psychological disorder. That part is *****. This is also what I hate about the egomaniacs like Rush Limbaugh who start their own radio shows. They suddenly feel as if they're somehow better than their callers. I hate people like Giuliani. - KennMac, on 10/12/2007, -13/+44"The exthssive conthern for ferreths is something you should exthamine with a therapisth."

Subject: I would have voted for you to become President but...
Mr. Giuliani,
Sir, I would like to remind you that we live in America...a place where everyone has the freedom to pursue happiness. Who are you to put a man down for loving ferrets? Would you react the same way to a man who loves watching a stupid game where men hit a little ball around with a stick!? No...because that is "normal" to you right?
To think that I would have voted for you to become the next President of the United States. Well, not after what I heard on your radio show. You put a man down because of his choice of how he spends his personal time and that shows remarkably bad character.
Sincerely,
[Full Name omitted] - heptahedron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Regardless of what was said before, I can't see voting for a politician that loses his cool over something so trivial. Giuliani could have calmly reasoned with the guy or joked about it or just tried to push the program toward a more meaningful topic. But if a simple phone call about ferrets can unnerve the candidate, perhaps he is unsuitable for a high stress job such as the presidency.
- dylanmat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28You've got to love "This American Life".
- loker269, on 10/12/2007, -5/+28daschupa it is not forcing another wild animal into domestication....ferrets have been domesticated as house pets and hunting animals for well over 2000 years! longer than cats OR dogs...they were the original house pet...
As a matter of fact there are no ferrets in the wild because of the fact they have been domesticated for so long, they just can not survive in the wild. (it does have one wild cousin called the black footed ferret but they no longer exist in the wild...there are projects trying to breed and re-introduce them in the wild but so far it has failed. Also the black footed ferrets are not endangered because of domestication since no one has ever tried to domesticate the black footed ferret.)
Ferrets are distant descendants of European Polecats...they are the product of thousands of years of domestication and are just simply not wild. They would die quickly if released into the wild. - lourdis2121, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27Rudy "Terror Profiteer" Giuliani
- gooddaysunshine, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25good point. but the larger point is that he was circumventing a state law.
- gharding, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26This is typical Giuliani. Read about his controversies. He doesn't care about free speech. He just wants his way. Good to know that he's leading the Reps in the presidential campaigns. Can I please cast an anti-vote?
/new yorker - daschupa, on 10/12/2007, -13/+31Well, I would hardly call this *****, especially after weeks of Digg O'Reilly audio. What's the problem with ferrets besides forcing another wild animal to live in cramped apartment room? I don't know what Giuliani has against ferrets, but then again, I don't know why there is a NY Ferrets Rights Advocacy. It takes all kinds.
- monaleilani, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16*****.
::loves her ferrets:: - The_Wallbanger, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Are you for real? The guy in drag is Guiliani.
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"David you're on my show, I have the right to talk over you!"
LOL - Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12@dylanmat (#6515505)
It's the best thing on radio. http://www.thislife.org You can download the past week's broadcast for free each Monday. - pathy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Giuliani reminded me a lot of Master Shake, for some reason.
- jrchin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12A ferret is a member of the weasel family.
- swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Democrats want to surrender to ferrets, but if Rudy Giuliani is elected, he will take the war to the ferrets. Democrats would wait for the ferrets to bring the fight to our homes, but Rudy Giuliani will ensure that nowhere in the world will be a safe haven for ferrets.
I for one support Mr. Giuliani's anti-ferret policies. - ralphmalph914, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Ferrets make good pets. Seriously, we had a ferret as a class pet in 5th grade, he walked around the room during class.
- siszam, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Wrong. The narrator is Ira Glass from This American Life and radio.
- Hipple, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Except when he uses that weekly radio show to ignore the issues that callers raise and instead launches a blatant, long-winded, insulting evaluation of their mental health.
- moogle516, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Do we really want someone like this to become president??
- loker269, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8eezzz they are very clean animals and will only go to the bathroom in one place....you simply place a litter box in one of the corners and once they know its there they will go to it when they need to go...
- bbear, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Giuliani cheated on his wife in his house when his wife and kid was present. He also lived with 2 gay men for an extended period of time. His wife made a career out of killing dogs (lol). Why isn't Giuliani running as a democrat?
- civdis24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@ heptahedron
Domestic ferrets are _Mustela putorious furo_.
Weasels are also in the genus _Mustela_ but are a different species.
Domestic ferrets are actualy classified as a subspecies of the species _putorius_ which is the European Polecat.
So, FERRETS ARE NOT WEASELS! However, they are very closely related - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Ferret guy for President!
- emptybucket, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Goes "*****" (ALL CAPS)?
Nice Reach. - Optic7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10It truly is the best thing on the radio, possibly ever. It's an astoundingly good show - sometimes it's better than what any other media has on at the moment, including TV or the Internet, that's how good it can be. You can listen to ALL the past shows at that site, streamed, or download them from iTunes, I believe.
- boyasunder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Why do so many people mistake being an ***** for having courage?
- simplynix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7He is violating state rights. The ferret issue, whether or not we find it trivial, still circumvents state law. Laugh about it, but every time a politician gets us to ignore something that is clearly a violation of law, we lose rights.
- massmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It seems to me as if Giuliani does not want this man to be heard. He diagnoses him on the air, and cuts him off before the caller says practically anything. It seems that a level-headed politician would engage in rhetoric, but Mr. G. does nothing of the sort. The man may have a point, he may not, but we will never know because he is not allowed to speak. See other Digg front page of Obama and CC.
- dn11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"Giuliani is an insane, sad, mentally sick madman."
Also an ***** and a grandstander. A hack that took political advantage of 9/11 - he made sure to set up his base of operations after the disaster right in line with the best photo ops. He happened to be mayor of New York when the towers went down and he gave speeches in front of smoldering wreckage just like our great leader "Commander Guy". That doesn't give him some sort of credibility on terror issues - every time I hear someone in the media say "well Guiliani has got a background on terrorism and homeland security" it makes me sick. He was a freaking mayor on 9/11 that had a good speech writer - that's it folks! - dotspace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This is from 1999!! Like - last century.
- CloseYetFar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yea, but how come i'm still waiting to hear him go "*****". How about, Rudy Giuliani's strange reaction to ferret owners. Buried for inaccurate title.
- darkstar949, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Last century? Try last millennium!
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8@douggmc (#6516263)
I disagree with you completely. I imagine David Sedaris would, too. - Mc_Carter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5ferrets rule plain and simple.
- TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Some idiot called a radio show multiple times to argue about ferrits. All he did is say that is sick to be that obsessed to call in multiple times about such a minor issue. Imagine this, president Bush opens up telephone lines to answer questions and someone calls twice to ask about $1,000 the government gave to Alaska to build a road. Think about it.
Eric Wilson - DonCarcharo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've had seven ferrets in the last 20 years as pets. They require a lot of work and attention but they can be very rewarding pets. Many of mine were taught tricks, loved to play (gotta love the war / happy dance) and most were litter trained. Yes, a few were nasty, nippy and at least one was downright evil. However to my best knowledge none of mine have escaped and colonized. Sure one got out that one time and visited the neighbor next door. But he kind of just jumped around since he thought the shrieking woman swatting at him with a broom was playing some sort of game.
Anyone who's ever really been around ferrets can tell you, the last thing these critters are capable of is colonization. And that's the main reason they're illegal. Well that and rabies which they tend not to carry. - invisiblespam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I'd hardly classify that as "*****" more like slight overreaction. no digg for sensationalist title.
- dono169, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8*****? Please. He was quite calm, though over-stepped his level of expertise.
It does make for quality radio though. Maybe he should take over for Imus... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Ferrets are gnawing away at the very moral fiber of our country. We must put an end to their reign of chaos and sin. Down with ferret kind. ***** is such a cool word. Thank you for dusting that one off.
