I've heard all of what you are saying before, and it's *****
A) Ron is Not an anti semite. He doesn't agree with America supporting Israel and if you knew anything about foreign politics or the constitution you would know that he has good reason not to.
B)Ron is NOT a racist, he never said that, it was published as a part of a weekly newsletter, and he didn't even write it. Furthermore he says that his political opinions are the sensible ones, and if only 5% of black people support them, then how is stating a fact racist?
http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=Ron%20Paul
"In one issue of the Ron Paul Survival Report, which he had published since 1985, he called former U.S. representative Barbara Jordan a "fraud" and a "half-educated victimologist." In another issue, he cited reports that 85 percent of all black men in Washington, D.C., are arrested at some point: "Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the 'criminal justice system,' I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal." And under the headline "Terrorist Update," he wrote: "If you have ever been robbed by a black teenaged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be."
In spite of calls from Gary Bledsoe, the president of the Texas State Conference of the NAACP, and other civil rights leaders for an apology for such obvious racial typecasting, Paul stood his ground. He said only that his remarks about Barbara Jordan related to her stands on affirmative action and that his written comments about blacks were in the context of "current events and statistical reports of the time." He denied any racist intent. What made the statements in the publication even more puzzling was that, in four terms as a U. S. congressman and one presidential race, Paul had never uttered anything remotely like this.
When I ask him why, he pauses for a moment, then says, "I could never say this in the campaign, but those words weren't really written by me. It wasn't my language at all. Other people help me with my newsletter as I travel around. I think the one on Barbara Jordan was the saddest thing, because Barbara and I served together and actually she was a delightful lady." Paul says that item ended up there because "we wanted to do something on affirmative action, and it ended up in the newsletter and became personalized. I never personalize anything."
His reasons for keeping this a secret are harder to understand: "They were never my words, but I had some moral responsibility for them . . . I actually really wanted to try to explain that it doesn't come from me directly, but they campaign aides said that's too confusing. 'It appeared in your letter and your name was on that letter and therefore you have to live with it.'" It is a measure of his stubbornness, determination, and ultimately his contrarian nature that, until this surprising volte-face in our interview, he had never shared this secret. It seems, in retrospect, that it would have been far, far easier to have told the truth at the time."
The staffer wrote those statements and was fired.
C) Who knows why he was endorsed by the "Stormfront White Nationalist Community". I have personally never heard of this before, or even this "Community" in my life. They probably endorsed him because of the same ignorant mis-information that you seem to be quoting. Dumbass. - Frequency, on 10/11/2007, -13/+53@alphaeta:
Ron Paul is the only Republican who isn't campaigning on a staunch platform of homophobia, xenophobia, and religious bigotry. The other candidates spew ***** like that CONSTANTLY. Paul clearly apologized for this one incident. How can you still see him as a bad person? - wcentanni, on 10/11/2007, -13/+50I just emailed "Meet the Press" and asked them to interview Ron Paul. I also told them to look at the support he is getting on the internet. I added the link for the latest petition to keep Ron Paul in the debates at: http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=41394
- BannerofVelasco, on 10/11/2007, -7/+41Btw, I am from his district, that staffer who wrote that newsletter was latter exposed as a plant from a rival campaign.
Seriously, do I need to send Scopes this info? - AlphaEta, on 10/11/2007, -18/+48Paul is anti-Zionist, not anti-Semitic. Contrary to what the PC police may tell you, there is a big difference between these two views!
However, I see no harm in holding Paul accountable to what was published in HIS newsletter, whether he was the author of the piece or not. I find it hard to believe that he was completely ignorant of the racist text from the 1992 "Ron Paul Political Report." Read the article, the ***** is VERY vitriolic:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/5/15/124912/740 - yubman, on 10/11/2007, -12/+40Ron Paul's support is not just on the internet. His message is getting out:
People called into CSPAN to support him, they don't sound like 12 year old "hackers" out to throw an online poll. They sound like concerned AMERICANS.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q5VeaUW12pY - AKBryant54, on 10/11/2007, -14/+37"However, I see no harm in holding Paul accountable to what was published in HIS newsletter"
There sure is harm, since they were not his words, and he fired the person who wrote them. He was not aware of what was sent out and has denied any accusations of racism. It is ignorant of YOU to hold a man accountable for something he didn't do. - Frequency, on 10/11/2007, -7/+29You're letting the ***** MEDIA decide who is important! What makes them ANY more qualified to do that than the people?
- moogle516, on 10/11/2007, -7/+28He calls the Isreal Lobby group bad, and that suddenly makes him a jew hating bastard.
Why dont you ***** read up on the Isreal lobby group, and then STFU - yubman, on 10/11/2007, -10/+30Ron's message is getting out!
CSPAN vid of people calling in supporting Ron:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q5VeaUW12pY - IllmortalDeity5, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19That is true. Every person that could possibly run shouldn't be interviewed, but Ron Paul has gotten enough support compared to others out of just the ten from the debates. You may not like that he is getting more support than you can understand but just watch the CSPAN clip of people calling in for support. In a poll I saw recently Ron Paul did not have that high of a positive or negative rating but his "not sure" rating was huge. The people have a right to hear from the one freakin anti-war republican considering they have 9 others chomping at the bit to maintain the hegemony. The first guy that runs and has some true republican ideals and all the neo-cons go crazy. Yes he is mostly libertarian but he has more true republican stances than any other candidate.Peace.
- ExCornelius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13"I would love to vote for the right person and i am sure allot of people would i would also love a 3 party system a real 3 party system but it will never happen."
Sure, except Dr. Paul is running for the Republican nomination, so there's no "wasted vote"/"split vote" issue in the primaries. - BannerofVelasco, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16That was before he was on The View this morning. Now millions of house wives are cackling about it.
And I looked into it, people said the same thing about Jimmy Carter in 1975.
Odd that. - goldenratio, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15dugg. not because i care about ron paul, but because i support thinking (and voting) outside the box.
the two-party system is broken. it's time for change. - my4boyz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Ron Paul is a 10 TERM Congressman. Not qualified? I guess their criteria is how much money you have in the bank, not your values or who the people really want.
- nokla, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11This is my generation vs. the baby boomers.
If we don't fight on this and support Ron Paul, our parents generation will do us irreparable financial damage and thrust us into increasing Constitutional peril. - samschoice, on 10/11/2007, -7/+18i messaged meet the press. DR. Paul is not racist.
- cimbo19, on 10/11/2007, -6/+16So we're gonna let the MEDIA decide where to draw the line and who becomes our next president?!
- catalytica, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I'm not thrilled with Ron, but I liked how he handled the fox debate. He seems very intelligent and is a REAL republican. Not one of those neocon fascists that are currently in power. That's why they hate him.
- tremor_tj, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12You're way of voting is what's wrong with America. Vote for who I think will win? No thank you.
- my4boyz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Ron Paul is a 10 TERM Congressman. He's not qualified?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Heh, well the second caller sounded like a 12 year old "hacker". But no most of them didn't, most didn't sound very articulate. The newscaster couldn't elicit a single non-emotional or non-sentimental response from the callers. I say this of course knowing full well that this is the rule not the exception for people that call in on C-Span (and I love the channel).
Read back a few pages on the comments though, some hilarious stuff. A few started posting they were viewer 4602, and devised a giant MSM-government conspiracy to explain why they weren't getting an accurate number of views for the videos. Till one commenter pointed out that Youtube only updates the number of views daily. - BannerofVelasco, on 10/11/2007, -7/+151 - So you going to that tea party tonight?
2 - Naw dude, everyone knows the king doesn't care what a few dudes here. I mean, really, so they are gonna throw a few boxes of tea into the bay, big deal.
1- Yeah, I guess you're right, won't do any good.
2- Well, at least I heard the Indian customs were cool. - BridgeOfSighs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Yes, Ron Paul's voting record is a fairly solid string of NO votes. In Congress they call him "Dr. No" because he believes, correctly I might add, that most of the proposed legislation brought to a vote concerns things the Federal government was never authorized to do.
- TheGrunt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8You can rationally deal with the terrorists. Osama stated in an interview in 1999 that he attacked the US because of their foreign policy in the Middle East. So, stop annoying the ***** out of them, they stop attacking us.
- metrodextrous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Wow, this post is an exact copy of my original Digg post on Tim Russert. It's been copied all over the Internet in my exact words and has now made it back to Digg again. Full circle! I love it. Don't worry, I won't chastise you for plagiarism. The message is what's important.
- Palmetto, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7What is it that y'all dislike or don't agree with about Ron Paul?
- AKBryant54, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9there are 10 candidates.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11That was hilarious.. I think the host jumped off the building immediately after that aired. It looked like he was getting really worn down by all of the passionate Ron Paul calls. Anyway, I'm surprised at how many southern accents I heard. Thought it would be mostly west coast and east coast..
- TheGrunt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I would say that a BIG majority of Ron Paul supporters aren't registered republicans, and do not have landline phones. Hence, they DO NOT GET POLLED! Why is this being overlooked as a possibility for his low ratings in the gallup? Take any basic politics class and you find out that this is one of the major problems with polling now; the number of people lacking landline phones.
- Errrr, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Who wants to hear anything from anyone who takes a thoughtful, principled stance in politics and government? I don't want lengthy explanations of someone's ideas on foreign or domestic policies. Give me a candidate who knows how to say, 'good, bad, and 9/11'. And for god's sake, could we please stop with all this 'Constitution' *****. I say we bar Paul and Gravel now. Give me a corporate-funded, Madison-Avenue-quaffed media whore any day! And if we can't have that, at least let's find another simpleton fresh off his daddy's coat tails.
- vdonn1320, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Heres what I wrote
Dear Mr Russert,
The 13May2007 transcript of 'Meet the Press' notes the following:
MR. RUSSERT: And our viewers should know, as part of our Meet the Candidates 2008 series, we have invited all the major candidates for president to appear here for the full hour.
I would like to know why you have not invited ALL the candidates to your show, considering the fact that this early in election season, it is difficult to determine exactly WHO is a "major candidate"
It is undemocratic and highly biased of your show to systematicly exclude candidates from getting a chance to state their oppinions and reach out to the american people just because 'someone' decides that they aren't a 'major' candidate.
The lifeblood of democracy is an informed people, and it appears from the statement above that your show wishes to stop that blood from flowing.
So I ask you; Does your show align itself with the intrests of the american people, or is their another driving force behind your decisions on which candidate should have the "privilege" of speaking to the people?
Thank you for your consideration. - feb420, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8@ mrassman
I'm in Ohio. I gave him some money. - montiff, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11My letter:
Hello
I Heard that you were going to interview the mainstream presidential candidates.
I sincerely hope you interview Ron Paul, a fresh politician that speaks to the American people not at them. - masamunecyrus, on 10/11/2007, -6/+12This is the link to the official Meet the Press's contact & feedback form, by the way.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6872152/ - BrookeMarks, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Go Ron Paul and Mike Gravel! ...The only two candidates for President with the courage to speak the truth in the Dem. and Rep. debates.
- feb420, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Why is it that I'm only the second person to ever see your profile, and you're talking about what's been happening on Digg lately? Why hasn't your profile dugg anything yet? ***** you.
- MindStalker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6@bigdavediode While I can't find the bill you are refering to, I'd be willing to BET that he voted against the Federal government having any say so concerning unmarried couples having the freedom to adopt. Some states allow it, but its not a Federal issue.
- gthrank, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Bloomberg is going to spend $1bn of his own money and launch a third-party bid for the presidency. Then Ron Paul would be his perfect running mate, since his ideology is that of sanity, rather than the ***** spewing forth from the foaming mouths of the republican right-wing nut jobs. The republican party is a spent force, a joke around the world, a loser in America.
- phutureboy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Offline polls are only querying registered Republicans who have landline telephones. Much of Paul's online support comes from those who are unregistered, independent, or affiliated with another party. And, most of them are younger, and unlikely to have a landline phone. (It is illegal for political pollsters to call cell phones.)
- metrodextrous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Here is the link to my original Digg posting. Word for word.
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Tim_Russert_Excluding_Ron_Paul_from_His_Meet_the_Candidates_Series - jrsims, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9I included that link in my email to Meet the Press:
"I'm a longtime fan and viewer of Meet the Press and am writing to urge you to please make sure that Ron Paul makes Tim Russert's list of "major candidates" for future interviews.
By now, you're probably aware of Ron Paul's runaway popularity on internet polls, televised debates, and even segments on C-Span (look at all the people calling in from all over the country to support Ron: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Q5VeaUW12pY ).
This is proof-positive that there are MANY concerned and hopeful Americans (a lot more than you may think) who deeply believe that Ron Paul is a legitimate and fully qualified presidential candidate who should be allowed to speak alongside those who are considered "mainstream" candidates.
Meet the Press can show that they are a fair and balanced source of news and analysis by including Ron Paul in future television shows. I know myself and so many others are counting on Meet the Press to take these wishes into serious consideration.
With that, I thank you for your time! I know you will do the right thing." - texdc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5When you contact them, please be kind and courteous. Like most people, I doubt they'd respond well to angry demands.
Peace. - Harpakhrad11, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Where did you get their personal emails?
- WilliamDavis, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6I watched the video, and that sure didn't sound like the internet crowd.
- COINTELPRO, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10They should poll people that watched the debate and their Republican canidate choice.
Most Texas Republicans are idiots and corporate puppets, I can't believe this guys is making sense coming from Texas (lol). Now Fox is trying to say he is a 9/11 conspiracy nut instead of a realist.
Any canidate that doesn't fully understand the reason this country was attacked on 9/11 should drop out of the race. How can they develop an appropriate foreign policy in the middle east if they believe Osama attacked us for our freedom. - IslandDog, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7"Any canidate that doesn't fully understand the reason this country was attacked on 9/11 should drop out of the race. How can they develop an appropriate foreign policy in the middle east if they believe Osama attacked us for our freedom."
Then the entire democratic party should drop out? - AKBryant54, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9That poll was before the debate, and before media attention that followed. I guarantee his supporters just went up.
- Mageant, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6OK, I sent my email too, now.
Carry on, people. We need to continue to do things like this. - healthydose, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I just signed and there where 10,500. Come on DIGGers lets get it to 50,000.
