- drmangrum, on 11/12/2009, -3/+23Wow, they have some audacity.
- Glynth, on 11/12/2009, -1/+17False. The law is that Congress shall not PUNISH specific organizations, which does not at all bar the refusal to FUND them. You can stretch terms and say withdrawing funds is "punishing" them, but it ain't. Withdrawing funds is withdrawing a "reward," not inflicting a "punishment." What Congress giveth, Congress can taketh away. It's just backward thinking to argue that they can name specific organizations to receive funds yet cannot rescind the offer or bar groups from receiving funding they are providing.
- zacharytelschow, on 11/12/2009, -1/+16I'd be willing to bet their original funding allocation included specific language banning illegal activity (hell, even a basic mortgage or apartment lease includes that, and that's for a lot less money). While the law passed may be have been unconstitutional, their funding is probably gone either way.
- stompk291, on 11/12/2009, -1/+16as if THAT matters anymore.
- ewagnerjr2000, on 11/12/2009, -3/+16Man, that is just funny!
- zwolf7, on 11/12/2009, -2/+13From the article, "Bills of attainder have traditionally been understood to have more serious legal consequences -- including the seizure of private property and even capital punishment -- than Congress' decision to withhold funds that are at its discretion to disseminate. Though members of Congress have accused ACORN of corruption, it is not clear how the exercise of its own prerogative is outside the bounds of legislative power." Congress' legislative power to disseminate or withhold funds will win the case. But you can take it in front of a judge, if he'll hear it.
- Erich100, on 11/13/2009, -2/+11I seriously doubt the powers that be will ever allow a trial. It would expose the monster for what it is.
- inactive, on 11/13/2009, -0/+6...and, apparently, hope.
- le0pardess, on 11/13/2009, -3/+9@ Erich, speaking of never allowing a trial or exposing the monster...check out this monster expose' !! http://www.ngo.ro/pipermail/mediu_ngo.ro/2006-Janu ...
The ACORN crimes/corruption is not any different if serious investigative journalism actually did its job. - ThinkOutTheBox, on 11/13/2009, -3/+9The irony of this action by ACORN will go down for ages. I don't see how Congress withdrawing ACORN's funding is "punishing" them in anyway. They can go to other sources to get funding just not the US Government. I bet ACORN dies a slow miserable death because they will no longer have the funds to support their communist agenda.
- JohnGalt01, on 11/13/2009, -1/+6According to the "O", it is not your wealth. Must spread it around.
- merton42, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5At least THEY think so!! I caught it!
- dgkobs, on 11/13/2009, -4/+8They have a "constitutional right" to our wealth.
- waylandgop, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5Remember folks, our failed president use to work for this organization.
How sad is that? And 53% of America voted for this joker.
Democrats support ACORN - why?
Who in their right miond would vote for a Democrat today?
2010 and 2012 will be all Republican! - Erich100, on 11/14/2009, -2/+4@le0pardess, there's no end to what these psychopaths will do to get what they want. This can only work with the government's of the world being complicit.
Remember this one? The mining business seems to be popular with former Presidents.
http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/clintons-multi-m ... - Glynth, on 11/14/2009, -0/+2What's actually safe to say is that you, Airforcefalco, think there are more ratified amendments to the Constitution than there actually are.
Or is this some kind of commentary on where the country is headed? - Airforcefalco, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1It was a joke.
- Airforcefalco, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1If you think that ACORN is wrong, it's safe to say that you don't know about Amendment 28 in the Constitution.
- thcobbs, on 11/12/2009, -11/+5Not really. As much as I hate the idea of that organization getting money, they are in fact correct.

Effectively, the Congress passed a law that specifically punished a group without trial. And that is unconstitutional.
