- snotrokit, on 11/06/2008, -8/+250wow. The wolves are out in force. I cannot believe how hard they are throwing someone that is supposedly the future of the party under the bus.
Nice to see the GOP tear themselves to shreds trying to blame everyone else. - pgoetz, on 11/06/2008, -11/+249Please, please, PLEASE let's hope Palin runs again in 2012! She's frankly one of the best things that ever happened to the Democratic Party, modern progressives, "fake America", you name it.
- Ninnux, on 11/06/2008, -6/+150Q: Please explain some of the responsibilities of the Vice President
Palin: Among others, the Vice President is in charge of the Senate.
Ambition and Stupidity are a dangerous mix. - Vincent21212, on 11/06/2008, -5/+124For the life of me, I can't figure out how this woman got the title of "future of the Party" bestowed upon her. If she is the future, then the GOP is the dumb, under-educated redneck party it's stereotyped to be.
- garryw, on 11/06/2008, -3/+112She cant see Africa from her house, so dont expect too much.
- PGPirate, on 11/06/2008, -10/+118FTA: "Fox News reports that Palin didn't know Africa was a continent and did not know the member nations of the North American Free Trade Agreement -- the United States, Mexico and Canada -- when she was picked for vice president. "
- greenroom628, on 11/06/2008, -9/+107does palin not understand that if she tries to run in 2012 (and she will fail), stuff like this is going to come back and bite her in the ass? (like a pit bull?)
i guess that's too much to ask for a -- what did the mccain staffer call her? -- a "hick from wasilla invading neiman marcus". - richirwin, on 11/07/2008, -5/+76I remember that Pepsi introduced a new piss-flavored soda a while back.
Nobody bought it.
But Pepsi decided it wasn't because it tasted like piss, It was because of marketing. Market timing. And the inability of the public to embrace a sode that tastes like human urine.
Heads rolled within Pepsi.
They'll try to sell piss-flavored soda to us again in the near future. Pepsi sure hopes our tastes have changed. - built2spill, on 11/06/2008, -4/+71They need a scapegoat. And, I don't think she has a political future outside of Alaska, with the possible exception of being an Alaskan representative (Senator?). She is simply not smart enough, nor is she popular enough to be national.
- THETEH, on 11/06/2008, -4/+63Palin was such a disastrous pick for VP. She destroyed McCain's chances of ever becoming president. On second thought, perhaps she wasn't so disastrous after all.
On a related note, what's the deal with her approval ratings in Alaska? How could somebody...like her...have an approval rating that high? Any Alaskan diggers care to explain? - Grova, on 11/06/2008, -6/+63Isn't she supposed to donate all the clothes she received. That's never going to happen.
- galactus717, on 11/06/2008, -6/+60Yes the phoney maverick from Wasilla gets exposed by Fixed News. Gotta love it. I too am hopeful that she is the future of the GOP so the Dems will be virtually assured of victory in 2012. I am laughing at all the news anchors and talking heads that lauded the pick that the rest of us saw through as a gimmick from the start. Think of it this way, in McCain's last days he was talking about Joe the fake plumber, revisting spurious claims about Obama's associations, and discussing the governor's clothes. I mean a VP nominee that only got a passport a couple years ago. One commentator said it best when they said that there is more vetting done to work in a fast food establishment than was done for her to potentially be a heartbeat away. YOu can fool some of the people some of the time...
- Stavrosian, on 11/07/2008, -3/+56When McCain picked her I was very worried that it was going to pay off for him. It was such a blatantly cynical pick to try and grab disgruntled female Clinton supporters, but it seemed like a smart enough political move to me at the time, and one that really could be made to look brave, bold and forward-thinking if they were shrewd with how they worked the spin.
Then I heard her speak. All that worry for nothing, after all.
It's no surprise that they are throwing her to the lions now, but let them not forget that the only reason she exists to be blamed at all is because of a cynical political machine operating within the party. The blame should really be leveled at them, not the puppet they picked for superficial, ill thought-out reasons. - OliveStreet, on 11/06/2008, -6/+57As much as I hate this lady, I gave her pass on the clothing issue when it first came out because I didn't think, with the enormously busy campaign schedule, that she would have time herself to go shopping. I chalked up the expenses to other staffers simply being over diligent. WOW. What an eye-opener. Let's hope this is the last we ever hear from this female agent-of-intolerance.
- TheImaginator, on 11/07/2008, -3/+51My favourite bits FTA;
'Perhaps the most dangerous allegation for Palin are reports in The New York Times and Newsweek that when she was urged by McCain adviser Nicole Wallace to buy three suits for the Republican convention and three suits for the campaign trail, she went on the now-infamous shopping spree at swank stores, like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
A Republican donor who agreed to foot a majority of the expenses was stunned when he received the bill, Newsweek reported. Both the Times and Newsweek report that the budget for the clothing was expected to be between $20,000 and $25,000. Instead, the amount reported by the Republican National Committee was $150,000.
That wasn't the whole tab, however, according to Newsweek. The magazine claims that Palin leaned on some low-level staffers to put thousands of dollars of additional purchases on their credit cards. The national committee and McCain became aware of the extra expenditures, including clothes for husband Todd Palin, when the staffers sought reimbursement, Newsweek reported. '
Then
'There is one comment in particular from a McCain aide that guaranteed to heighten friction between the two camps. The angry aide described the Palin family shopping spree to Newsweek as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast." '
Then
'And when McCain and Palin split up in Arizona Wednesday, the personal differences were stark.
McCain drove himself home in a Toyota sport utility vehicle. Palin's departure was a grander event. She left with an entourage of 18 family members and friends and a Secret Service detail, heading to the airport in a motorcade stretching more than a dozen vehicles, flanked by a dozen more cops on motorcycles. ' - garryw, on 11/06/2008, -10/+56Don't look at me, I voted for Romney. I couldn't get myself to vote for McCain due to Palin's interviews.
McCain's motto was "Country First" but his actions selecting Palin for political gain without knowing her says "Me First". - ohcyrus, on 11/07/2008, -3/+48"Why did McCain's staffers not like her?"
Because she is ***** retarded!!! - ratbastid, on 11/07/2008, -0/+42"Waiter, I'd like to complain about this ***** sandwich I've ordered."
"Oh, yes sir, the ***** sandwich. What's the matter with it?"
"Well, my god, man! It's full of *****!" - Altotus, on 11/07/2008, -0/+42McCain himself seems like a pretty decent guy. When I look at the difference between his 2000 campaign and his 2008 one, I get the impression that in the 2000 campaign he was in charge whereas in 2008 he put far too much control in that hands of republican party handlers that wanted to "fix" the mistakes that lost him the 2000 campaign. He wasn't clear on some of his positions, because he was altering his position on the stump per their suggestion. He didn't pick Palin, they did because a devout air-head from the sticks would a certain less deliberative group something familiar to cling to.
I think McCain is retrospectively embarrassed that he let himself be compromised by advisors that "knew better". I think he still would have had a hard time, because those same advisors were/are still torpedoing the Republican party with "neoconservativism", so he'd be tainted. But, he'd have been far better off if he'd taken charge and stuck to his guns like in 2000. - mikesoba, on 11/07/2008, -2/+41"Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast." I can't imagine a better description of the Palin kin. Thankfully, these hicks are back at the Governor's double wide in Alaska.
- roebeet, on 11/06/2008, -4/+43McCain should have made Hillary his VP pick. Now THAT would have been interesting. Maverick my ass....
- GordonFree, on 11/07/2008, -5/+38Imagine if McCain was now the president-elect. We would have elected a senile man and a dumb whore always fighting about who says what to the journalists.
Scary - inactive, on 11/07/2008, -2/+35I talked to a guy online last night and he said he voted for mccain.
I said "you want palin representing you? She spent over 150 thousand dollars on her wardrobe and didnt even know africa was a continent" He kept saying "no way" "I didnt hear that so its not true"
Mccain supporters are idiots. - Gemfinder, on 11/07/2008, -1/+32What's hilarious is that it's McCain's handlers — the very people who forced her on him, and us — are the ones spreading the innuendo.
It's not the Republicans doing the Ouroboros Thing™, it's the Neocons turning on each other. A denouement that they've richly earned and deserve.

Hey Hey Hey... - FreddieD, on 11/07/2008, -0/+30It's the same reason why a convicted felon on seven counts is most likely going to get re-elected to senate up there. They love their republicans, and if the examples of Palin and Stevens aren't enough evidence then I don't know what is.
I feel sorry for the liberal minority up there (I live in Kansas, I'm well aware of liberal minorities), but thank god it's more apparent than ever that very few Alaskan politicians will make it in the lower 48. - Insightful, on 11/06/2008, -2/+32Oh please oh please run in 2012. And please pick Let's-Investigate-Conrgreess-for-Anti-American-Activities Bachmann as your running mate.
- JoeMondo, on 11/07/2008, -4/+34While I find Pain loathsome, there's something equally loathsome in how the campaign is dismissing her now.
They like to pretend to be some sort of populist party, for these Joe The Plumber guys - and they'll use Palin as a spokesmodel - but they don't want her to have any real authority. They just want to use her as a prop.
And certainly she'[s no smarter than a prop. But the GOP ought to instead justadmit it and stop making such cynical choices. - chrispen, on 11/07/2008, -1/+28Looks like someone has been using their new jump to conclusions mat.
- inactive, on 11/07/2008, -6/+33Talk about a "what have you done for me lately crowd". One minute Palin is their darling, but when she doesn't magically resurrect their absolutely nimrod campaign she gets thrown under the bus. I'm no Palin fan but that's *****.
Side comment THETEH - Palin is so popular in Alaska because she gave every citizen in Alaska a fat oil royalty check - proof positive most people can be bought for less than 2 grand. - NyteStarNyne, on 11/07/2008, -0/+24Make no mistake about it, Palin has no future regarding the 2012 election. He followers are just beating that drum now because it takes the pain away from their defeat and it's their equivalent to "We'll get you next time". There are far more qualified people in the GOP and when the dust clears she will be forgotten.
- phike, on 11/07/2008, -3/+27She makes Dan Quayle look like Einstein.
- Bith8654, on 11/07/2008, -1/+25Power and stupidity is even worse!
- Gemfinder, on 11/07/2008, -2/+24He didn't pick her. He picked Lieberman. The Theocons and his handlers pressured him out of it and fronted her.
- built2spill, on 11/06/2008, -2/+23Damn - can you believe Bachmann won re-election? I was a little stunned.
- MrSquirrel, on 11/07/2008, -1/+22I would love to see Sarah Palin and her newly acquired giant ego run in 2012. Because the other Republicans would eat her for breakfast during the primaries.
Some would do it out of spite, because she was picked by McCain over them. Some might do it for the honor of their party, to finally rid it of the Palin/Rove/Bush/neocon disease. Some would probably do it just for the pure joy of it.
Obama mostly laid off of Palin, smartly letting her bury herself. But the 2012 primaries would not be so kind to her. They would tear her apart like a pack of hungry jackals on a moose carcass. - amr05h, on 11/07/2008, -4/+25I'm not a huge fan of Palin, but she shouldn't be used as a scapegoat for aides who ran a ***** campaign.
- DrVic, on 11/07/2008, -1/+21Palin/Clampett '12
You don't need to "drill baby drill!" when you can just find oil when you are rustling up some food. Then out of the ground comes the bubbling crude! Oil that is... - FreddieD, on 11/07/2008, -0/+20I'm sure die hard conservatives who adore Palin will find this hard to believe, but she allowed Obama to cakewalk to victory. How many respected moderate republicans said that they were going to vote Obama and cited her pick as the reason... Colin Powell, Christopher Buckley.. there are more I'm sure.
This election would have been a LOT closer if McCain picked someone whom conservatives loved but didn't come with the retarded baggage, such as Romney or even Huckabee. - inactive, on 11/07/2008, -2/+22I'm calling ***** on the Palin defenders. Where there's smoke there's fire and she has made outrageously ignorant statement after outrageously ignorant statement. She might be intelligent, but she is certainly an ignoramus. I was saying in the summer when she was floated that she was "not experienced enough" and changed my mind soon after seeing the reaction of the base to her being picked and the way she could deliver a speech. But Katie Couric's interview convinced me that Palin is dangerously uneducated. Anyone who defends her now that the race is over the the liberals won are more than partisans trying to stop liberals from taking the White House, they are ***** idiots.
***** Palin defending FTA: But "she knows it's a continent," Stapleton said. "It was just a human mistake, just like Obama saying 57 states. I don't think anyone ever doubted that Obama knows there are 50 states." - inactive, on 11/07/2008, -5/+24And thats why new yorkers should never, ever ***** go to the bible belt under any circumstances. The people down there are ***** wild animals.
- Rhendal, on 11/07/2008, -1/+20"...telling ABC News they are attacking the former vice presidential candidate with distortions and blaming her for the Republican National Committee's own missteps."
Yeah. one of the biggest missteps? Nominating Sarah Palin for Vice President. - samimnot, on 11/07/2008, -5/+242008:
The GOP has heard Americans, is restructuring their Party for the future...
Palin / Huckabee 2012
2012:
First time in history, the Independent Party draws more voters then GOP...
President Obama, 2nd. Term - ninjadave, on 11/07/2008, -1/+19Stereotype and innuendo are different things. We have one campaign that insinuates Obama is a muslim elitist, while we have decades of questionable actions by an entire party to back up the Republican stereotype.
So in other words: Eat dirt, silverbids. - fxu1989, on 11/07/2008, -1/+19>> If he is the future, then the Democrats are the elitist, over-educated, Muslim socialist party it's stereotyped to be.
@SilverBud: I don't see what's wrong in there... were you trying to insult the democrats? Elitist? Kinda like all the stuck-up ***** in the media called him that? Over-educated? Is that even a bad thing? Maybe in your eyes, dumb republican (now you see why you got that name). Muslim? Just another religion that happens to have a few bad apple. Every religion has them. Socialist? Lots of socialism in the US right now. Don't see what's wrong with it. - Waiting2awake, on 11/07/2008, -1/+19You betcha!
- lex0nyc, on 11/07/2008, -7/+25Republicans: White Trash With Money
- Gerz1219, on 11/07/2008, -2/+20They're throwing her under the bus because the GOP establishment is horrified of Palin rising to any sort of leadership role in the party. Country club Republicans have been exploiting the fearful proles for 30 years to provide the votes necessary to enact their agenda. Palin terrifies the Republican establishment because she's proof that the proles want to take over the party, and that simply won't do, because this coalition's relationship is entirely about control.
Establishment Republicans don't actually want to end abortion, push through an anti-gay marriage amendment, and legalize prayer in schools. They just say they do in order to get out the prole vote. If they ever actually succeeded at doing any of this, as opposed to making promises during campaigns, they'd no substantive issues left to politically engage the proles. The problem is that the proles -- including Sarah Palin -- don't know this, and actually think that those campaign promises were real objectives for the conservative movement. And economic populism will wear well with the proles, to the dismay of the country club Republicans.
One way or another, Palin will shatter this coalition. Couldn't happen to a worse group of people. - rsbryswrrl, on 11/07/2008, -1/+18She thought all of the continent of Africa was a member of NAFTA? Something tells me that's someone's way of trying to explain away the fact that she is a dolt.
- talonstriker, on 11/07/2008, -1/+18Personally I'm rooting for Palin/Huckabee '12 just to see them get demolished.
