- WeBeGood, on 01/07/2008, -46/+274I'd call, "Respect to you, I don't know that you changed much,..." a complement, Ron Paul is consistent in what he does and says. He will truly be the first Constitutional President in my and your lifetime.
Vote Ron Paul in 2008! - Spike10111, on 01/07/2008, -7/+144John McCain: I would have gone to Iraq regardless of WMD
Could he be worse than Bush? Possibly. - Minarchian, on 01/07/2008, -15/+133You know dang well that these media types have researched and dug into the past of these candidates to the extreme. And even they can't find a flip flop on Paul. The only time I know where Paul has changed his mind is on the death penalty (he is now against it). And that was through long thought out reasoning.
I have no doubt Paul would do what he says he will do and for those things he can't do alone that most of those in Congress will help him do it or face the voters. - Webrunner53, on 01/07/2008, -21/+130Did you hear John McCain laughing at Ron Paul when Charles Gibson mentioned that RP changed parties? That man is a complete a**wipe! The people of Arizona should dig a hole in their desert and bury that dumb SOB as deep as they can bury him! He is an embarrassment to the Republican party. He is a flippin joke of a politician.
- RockLobstah, on 01/07/2008, -3/+106Did McCain's smile frighten anyone else?!
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -5/+104I can't believe I dugg a Paul article, but I like seeing the other candidates get slammed.
AnyonebutHuckabeeGiulianiRomneyThompsonClinton 08! - inactive, on 01/07/2008, -5/+59I was extremely disappointed with how disrespectful the GOP candidates were to Ron Paul during the debate. With all of the laughing and bickering that was going on, I felt like I was watching a bunch of ***** grade schoolers on stage. You could tell who exactly their supporters are.
I do have to say although Huckabee is perhaps the last RP candidate I'd vote for, I still have to give him props for not being an ***** while others were speaking, including Ron Paul.
Fred Thompson pissed me off the most since he apparently has no clue he's an idiot-- his fellow GOPers are just liars, but Thompson is actually dumb enough to believe what he's saying. Anyone have a clip of how he can't understand how inflation works and how deficits contribute to inflation? That made me ill. - AussieJames, on 01/07/2008, -1/+52PWNED by ABC
- ConstitutionGal, on 01/07/2008, -7/+52Ron Paul doesn't have to change his mind because by the time he opens his mouth about an issue he's already researched it seven ways from Sunday and knows more on the subject than 99% of the rest of the people. You're so accustomed to flip-floppers that you simply can't grasp the concept of a truly educated, informed and sincere man. More's the pity.
- ike6116, on 01/07/2008, -1/+41Isn't this what the media is SUPPOSED to do?
COME BACK JOURNALISM, WE MISS YOU! - down4twenty, on 01/07/2008, -0/+40or McCain
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+40Yeah, i forgot McCain
- afortnightdead, on 01/07/2008, -6/+43I've watched the US electioneering with great interest and I've finally realized that Ron Paul has no chance of winning anything. I've watched the combined might of the Republican candidates snicker and sneer and close ranks in response to Ron Paul's sensible, well-intentioned arguments. I've watched Giuliani shamelessly spout emotive, manipulative 9/11 anecdotes in a disgusting and surreal attempt to garner votes. I've watched Romney and Huckabee et. al. cynically dichotomize complex theological and geo-political issues to spurious, catch-all, 'East vs West' or 'Islam vs Christianity' divides. I've watched the bully-boy opportunists' attempts to ridicule and marginalize Dr. Paul's earnest pronunciations...... ....and I'm resigned to the fact that America will get the President it deserves. The good people of America appear now to be in the minority. I fear that the masses of the US will be better (or at least more accurately) represented by the sneering contempt of the bare-faced Republican war-mongers, or the phony mock-intensity of interchangeable Democratic puppets, than by the noble pursuits of Ron Paul. I hope they prove me wrong.
- akula89, on 01/07/2008, -8/+40wrong. just wrong. He supports amending the constitution, he supports state rights. If you aren't going to take the time to do research, don't bother making an ill informed comment.
- SonOfFreedom, on 01/07/2008, -1/+33There weren't supposed to be any responses, Gibson was making a point regarding all those up on stage. The fact that none of them had a response is very telling. You missed the point entirely.
- SD70MACMAN, on 01/07/2008, -0/+32Dugg for the ass kicking and John McCain's stupid smile.
- time4evacuation, on 01/07/2008, -4/+35Ron Paul looked upset when the moderator spoke to him, not because of shame, but because he realised the moderator didn't understand Ron Paul at all. He may have run for president as a Libertarian, but he is a 10 term Republican Congressman..
BAH!! - SonOfFreedom, on 01/07/2008, -9/+39Well, when you're surrounded by crap what exactly do you want? As president he would have the authority to make a few quick changes. Ron Paul is just the beginning, this isn't about Ron Paul, it's about a revolution in American government. We're starting with Ron Paul.
http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0102/p01s08-uspo.htm ... - DeviantDragon, on 01/07/2008, -2/+32I don't know if a Bush endorsement would be good for anybody's campaign.
- SonOfFreedom, on 01/07/2008, -8/+35Please read this article by the Christian Science Monitor which is in my opinion the most unbiased journalism in America. There is also a sound clip to go with it on that page, worth listening to. With Ron Paul you know exactly what you're getting and if you take the time to figure out what the rest of have, well... just go read it. http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0102/p01s08-uspo.htm ...
- SonOfFreedom, on 01/07/2008, -2/+28Yes he could be worse. Look what Bush got away while he campaigned with a "Humble Foreign Policy and no Nation Building" Bush also empowered the next President with ridiculous powers and the people stood still while this happened. Electing McCain only endorses those notions and will allow him to take it even further. This is very dangerous.
- scairborn, on 01/07/2008, -0/+26Damn! Charlie ***** Gibson just pwned you!
- Webrunner53, on 01/07/2008, -9/+34@Zoyx "I have a slam for Paul. He calls himself a libertarian, yet he insists that we become a christian state. Ramming your religion down the people's throat is not a libertarian value." Get your candidates straight! Mike Huckabee is the one pushing religion not Ron Paul. I'll forgive you this one time.
- odigity, on 01/07/2008, -4/+28Arizona hates McCain. And Arkansas hates Huckabee. And Massachussettes hates Romney. And New York hates Giuliani. Notice a pattern?
- CondoleezzaRice, on 01/07/2008, -3/+27He does not want the U.S to be a Christian state, thats Mike Huckabee.
- Herbi4, on 01/07/2008, -1/+23Charles have nothing on Ron Paul. His point is about policy flip-flop, Ron Paul only change party but he's now 10th term as Republican. I think Charles was helping Ron Paul on that, whether he realized it or not.
Ron Paul is will be one of USA's greatest President. - ZenFountain, on 01/07/2008, -3/+21Gibson didn't do such a bad job with the Republican moderation, they largely fought with themselves looking like asses save for Paul and Huckabee. The Democratic moderation was atrocious as most of the questions he posed were idiotic "what if" questions on national security designed to trap the candidates into TV sound bites. Paul, Huckabee and the Democrats deserve credit for standing firm and staying above the fray in what was otherwise a terrible debate.
- pkonink, on 01/07/2008, -0/+18The fact that anyone even considers Fred Thompson is still completely beyond me. I really do not like any of the republican candidates aside from Ron Paul, but at least their views and supporters and candidacies make sense. Fred Thompson? Baffling.
- Grandforks85, on 01/07/2008, -2/+20afornighrdead, The only thing I disagree with you on is that America is getting the President it deserves. Most of the people in our country are just too in the dark to know about Ron Paul and his stances. People like my parents who don't have time to spend on digg and on the internet researching loads and loads of information on all the candidates -- they're too busy working and supplying for their families. The only news they get is the news from television and in the newspaper. Don't say that good people are in the minority, say informed people are.
- SonOfFreedom, on 01/07/2008, -4/+21Your statement "This is the sign of a man who is so arrogant that he refuses to see any viewpoint but his own" is exactly the opposite of the truth. Maybe that's why he understands foreign policy and it's failures better than anyone else, he is willing to listen to others and considers their viewpoints. Did it occur to you that our politicians are wrong?
- likuidM5, on 01/07/2008, -2/+19you got served
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -1/+17Successful 21st century ideas such as the War in Iraq, No Child Left Behind, and the PATRIOT act? Yeah, all those old timey ideas like the Constitution are garbage!
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -1/+16Let us not forget how many people are waking up to the main stream media.
- afortnightdead, on 01/07/2008, -0/+15Fair enough. I totally accept your point. I just hope you try to enlighten them.
- ProximoAZ, on 01/07/2008, -2/+17That is bull - he does no such thing he does not want his religion or any one else's to be pushed - he really believes in the constitution and freedom of religion unlike the lie-a-second fake preacher huckabee
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -2/+17I find the CSM to be a very balanced site. I think what turns people off is the word christian... I admit I was one of them... But they do come across as fair, impartial and good reporting.
- geezas, on 01/07/2008, -1/+15LOVED IT :D
those comments at least sounded authentic, seems like a good moderator. I'll have to watch the whole thing... - skyshock1, on 01/07/2008, -0/+14That ghoulish grin and those stumpy little Tyranosaur arms....
*shudder* - Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -1/+15thanks condi for setting the record straight, and I might add, the Constitution is what RP will read to us. not the bible. I am not religious and am whole-heartedly supporting RP
- afortnightdead, on 01/07/2008, -0/+13Dude, you've lost the plot entirely. Are you happy telling lies? Giuliani has a track record of failure, opportunism and sleaze. The business thing is immaterial and his beliefs are wild.
- bethehammer, on 01/07/2008, -1/+14Why can't all debates start this way? It would finally put those politicians in their respective places.
- briguymaine, on 01/07/2008, -0/+13I'd say he changed parties in order to get noticed (obviously), I, and I think most voters, wouldn't even look at someone who isn't in one of the major parties. Libertarian? Move along, nothing to see here. I don't see his change as a bad thing.
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+12Was it just me, or did John McCain's smile just totally creep any of you people out?
- Akronos, on 01/07/2008, -1/+13Haha, I'm a hardcore atheist and I'm supporting Ron Paul. I know his beliefs will have absolutely no effect on how he is president.
- Arahail, on 01/07/2008, -0/+12That is not a flip flop, because in politics, a flip flop is a change in position on an issue, not political affiliation.
- SlimFastForYou, on 01/07/2008, -3/+15Well if you don't know, perhaps you might watch the video before commenting? He doesn't specifically endorse RP. Aargh! Digg users are so freaking lazy sometimes. OK for those of you who aren't going to watch it, Bush basically says something to the effect of "Candidates need guiding principles that they stick with despite what the latest public opinion poll says". Charlie gives all the candidates enough rope to hang themselves with by letting them yak for a while, and then points out the flip-flopping record of each candidate. You know the rest.
- MaTT2011, on 01/07/2008, -2/+13I think what turns people off is the pairing of the word "christian" and "science", the first word has nothing to do with the second.
- RIMberry, on 01/07/2008, -0/+11It's called moving back to a government that isn't bought and paid for by interest groups and corporations. I'd definitely rather be "moving backwards" than our current direction.
- afortnightdead, on 01/07/2008, -0/+11I'll be doing everything I can. I've already contacted several mainstream news organisations to query their lack of coverage. And I write for a living. So, like I said, I'll do what I can.
- muckemuck, on 01/07/2008, -1/+11You know.. this is the thing that is the most distressing. That the press from the rest of the world has for years been hounding the US about being so pro-war and about how the rest of the world does not want the US to be the police of the world. So now that there's a candidate who wants to change that they freaking ignore him. Yes, you. Your press. The press in the UK. So when McCain "I'd be fine with the US troops in Iraq for 100 years" is our next president don't come whining to us. A LOT of us in the US have tried as hard as we can to stop the neo-conservative freight train but we're fighting our media and yours. I hear the BBC each morning on my radio spouting off about Huckabee and Romney and if they spent a few minutes mentioning Ron Paul people here in the US would hear that too. So don't just comment here about how stupid the masses are in the US, do something to help those of us who are trying to make a difference.
