- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25There hasn't? You obviously don't get out much do you? Or do you mean in Congress? Then I totally agree.
- zorpscorp, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29Jesus I wish people would stop trying to turn everything into Republicans vs Democrats.
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25I would like to reiterate my statements from other threads....
Let's vote out all the ***** in Washington, Democrat or Republican. - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24List of Republican pedophiles, some alleged, some having plead guilty or no contest. Read for yourself, fact check if you want a second opinion.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=republican+pedophiles - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -8/+23I wonder if there is a list of Democrat pedos that can compare to the list of Republican ones. I'm sure I would have seen it posted on Digg already if there was one.
- zediker, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16This reminds me of a supposed connection of some sort of sex crime scandal about Boys Town and other orphanages in Nebraska...
A quick google search brought up this link:

All I can say, is that if any of this is true... there are some sick bastards in Washington... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14STOP REPUBLICAN PEDOPHILIA

* Republican Congressman Mark Foley abruptly resigned from Congress after "sexually explicit" emails surfaced showing him flirting with a 16-year old boy.
* Republican executive Randall Casseday of the conservative Washington Times newspaper was arrested for soliciting sex from a 13-year old girl on the internet.
* Republican chairman of the Oregon Christian Coalition Lou Beres confessed to molesting a 13-year old girl.
* Republican County Constable Larry Dale Floyd was arrested on suspicion of soliciting sex with an 8-year old girl. Floyd has repeatedly won elections for Denton County, Texas, constable.
* Republican judge Mark Pazuhanich pleaded no contest to fondling a 10-year old girl and was sentenced to 10 years probation.
* Republican Party leader Bobby Stumbo was arrested for having sex with a 5-year old boy.
* Republican petition drive manager Tom Randall pleaded guilty to molesting two girls under the age of 14, one of them the daughter of an associate in the petition business.

http://www.armchairsubversive.com/ - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17The sad truth about American politics is that a sex scandal can topple those in power.
You're wrong to think people aren't upset about the war but honestly talking and talking about it has done absolutely nothing. We protest, expose lies and write articles but as long as the current group is in power all that happens is increased attacks, legalized torture and reductions of our domestic freedom. If it takes a sex scandal to allow for more important change then so be it. - Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Just when you've gotten to the bottom of the barrel...
You find another barrel underneath it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12This kind of ***** is unbelievable. There was a documentary from the 90s ( Conspiracy of Silence) about Larry King (not that larry king) and sex parties that he threw with various kids participating in orgies. Oops stated earlier. The parties were supposedly attended by many high society guests and well known politicians. Seems that foley is not the only GOP member with this little problem. I would love to see this erupt into a huge scandal that lands the lot of these corrupt losers in prison. I hope they destroy members from both sides of the isle.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Yeah maybe they should have played that documentary about the Franklin coverup afterall:

I would wager these pages did the same which is why there is a "paper trail."

It is a very worth while program where I learned a ton and had a blast with a lot of really neat people. (And no I wasnt molested by a member)
Posted this on another topic earlier this morning but I'll do it again. Seems the media is really trying to dig up more dirt. Got these two emails yesterday.
garf12,
My name is Sarah Rubenstein and I work for the television show Inside Edition. I am aware that you were a Congressional Page from 2001-2002. I would be interested in hearing about your experience in the program and your reaction to the Mark Foley news.
Please call or e-mail me at 646-XXXXXX or XXX@kingworld.com
Sincerely,

AND FOX AND FRIENDS
I got your email address from the House Page Alumni Association. I'm a producer with "Fox & Friends" the morning show of the Fox News Channel. We are speaking with former pages concerning your experience working on The Hill in light of the news that a Congressman had alleged inappropriate contact with pages. You don't have to comment on Rep. Mark Foley specifically. I'm more interested in the behind the scenes of the page program.
I'd like to talk to you over the phone, off the record. And if you're OK with it, eventually on camera. If you're not confortable being on camera, we can put you in silhouette so that we don't see your face.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience. Our initial conversation will be completely off the record.
Thanks,
Jennifer

ABC is digging dirt but how many of these guys were stupid enough to leave a "paper trail"?
Foley getting caught at this sort of crap is fairly ironic. He's lead the charge on a lot of anti-predator legislation. - daldredge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This is what happens when a nation allows their elected leaders to become a protected class to whom the normal rules do not apply.
Just look how may laws that Congress exempts themselves from. - xman00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9>>All the man did was instant message the "kid"...I compare this to the witch trials because of the hysteria over a bunch of emails
All the man did was commit at least one felony count of attempted statutory rape and/or soliciting a minor and/or commit sexual harassment. All the Republican leadership did was commit another illegal act (possibly a felony) by concealing the acts.
I don't know about you, but I hold my elected officials to somewhat higher standards. Then again, I don't vote Republican. - rancidpony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8And Bush will announce another round of terrorists ploting to blow something up in the US being captured in 5...4...3...2...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9garf - When I snap my fingers you will wake up and point to the spot on the doll where mr. cheney touched you. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13That's how people are trained. They can't go throughout life without opposing something or someone else.
- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I would also like to say that I don't care about the political affiliations of any other politician who might get revealed in the coming days or weeks. If the first one to go is a Demo, I cheer. If it's a Repub, I cheer. Because this isn't about politics. This is about justice.
- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8These are the men who make our rules. I wonder how many of them were doing those things in the midst of the Lewisky scandal. I know that sounds partisan, so I'll add that I'm aware of the possibility that there are Democratic legislators wagging their fingers at Foley while indulging in their own unethical sexual activities.
I think every last one of them should go. And once we're done with the pedophiliacs, we can get started on the white collar criminals. - wrinkles, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Republican or Democrat, it's going down when the Republicans control the house. They have been in control for 6 years, if it's a mess, then they are culpable for the mess.
Like the Catholic Church, It's individual priests involved, but the LEADERSHIP has let it continue all this time, and that is worse. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Bwahahahaah ......donkeywang are you his friggin lawyer? I hope these facts help foley sleep better at night. Call of the dogs george - he was only hitting on a 16yo boy. That is totally legal in these here parts!
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8How can you compare the Salem Witch trials with a man who solicited a minor?
psssssst.... they weren't really witches - monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Thanks UGM2099.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=republican+pedophiles
pretty scary if you think about it ... - xman00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Sexual harassment is also illegal and it's pretty clear from the IMs those kids didn't want Mr. Foley's attentions. So we have:
1. Attempted statutory rape (definite)
2. Sexual harassment (definite)
3. Conspiracy to conceal the above by leading House Republicans (highly probable)
Add to this the Abramoff scandal and that these same guys just voted to make torture legal and suspend habeus corpus. What amazes me is that the mid-terms are even close. What asshat votes for these guys???
Give me the good ol' days when having an affair or a stamp scandal was big news. - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Maybe the Dems are just better at covering it up."
That seems unlikely. Surely there would have been at least one major Democrat *****-up more recent than the one from 1973 that people keep citing if the problem was as pervasive. - geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7age of consent in Florida is 18:
http://www.actwin.com/eatonohio/gay/consent.htm
And this "crossed state lines" as they say. He also met a teen in California where the age of consent is 18. - jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6oh dear! this could get ugly for the republicans
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'm not implying that there isn't a long list of Democrat pedos -- I have no knowledge on the subject, but I'm guessing if there is such a list I am very surprised it hasn't been posted by now.
So to be fair, let's see the list.
@mww2 -- you wouldn't think exploitation of minors would be bipartisan which is why it's highly peculiar that the evidence (or lack thereof) is suggesting it may be. It makes you wonder what the underlying causes are, doesn't it? - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Nothing new really, Congress is screwing the public all the time. With their 7 1/2 inch dicks.
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I feel a Karl Rove spin special coming. By the time we find out it was just a diversion it will be long after the elections are over. Nothing is beneath that guy is it?
I have got to get some stock in Maalox. - vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What the hell are these Congress members thinking? They're not priests!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree, but for 2006 you don't have much of a choice (most are Republican). So, vote of the republicans in 2006 and then clean house in 2008 and beyond.
- TomRitchford, on 10/12/2007, -13/+18You know -- this is all pretty disgusting but what's really astonishing is that well over 100,000 people perished for nothing in the Iraq war and yet there hasn't been one fraction of the fuss over that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I bet stock in hp and dell goes through the roof as congress members smash computers across the country to destroy evidence. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5How can I stay mad at Foley! Hell, I'd even take one for the team just to watch the republican party get thrown to the curb. Do I make you a little horny Foley?
Ok, maybe not... - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ analyze
In your copy/paste from Wikipedia you did a nice job of omitting Dan Crane (R-Ill.) who had sex with a 17yr old female. You also left the phrasing of the sentence as plural implying Studds had multiple relationships with multiple 17 year olds when in reality it was just one. If you're trying to make a point at least be honest.
Take a hint from Bill O'Reilly who said that citing the Studds case is "ridiculous in the extreme" and shouldn't be used to justify anything Foley did. - TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4CHARLES GIBSON: How many Senators are we talking about, and what are their party affiliations?
BRIAN ROSS: Currently we are talking about six. The Senators we are attempting to contact are all Republican. We have been unable to get an official response from any of them. - JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Isn't that enough? Remeber the 1% rule? ;)
- dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Possible "other members" of the congressional pages (young people mind you) who are coming out and reporting incidents that other people on congress were sending sick instant messages to them. There. Now stfu.
- digimoat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@analyze
Yes the democrats are playing politics with this but that's what it is and it's what they believe. While not all republicans are bad, the Democrats do believe that their policies are bad for America. And when you're the minority and are accused of everything from want to "cut and run" to "supporting terrorists", you do have to point out every thing that the people in power are doing. Rather than accusing democrats of being "wackos", argue a point from a non-partisan point of view. If that's possible and you're right, then the republicans should have nothing to worry about. One of these days somebody is going to have to take a higher road. - ArcticCelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Almost everywhere where the age of consent is 16 there is an exception for when the older person is in a position of authority. In that case the required age is 18. That's why teacher get convicted, because they are in a position of authority and abuse it to manipulate and intimidate easy preys (like Foley did).
- tgilber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Not sure about that... I was under the impression age of consent was 18 yrs of age... maybe that's a state-by-state thing?
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Thanks for the info garf. Are you considering it? Would be interesting to see another digg member on TV :-P
- TomRitchford, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I should add that I did of course mean "fuss in Congress and the Senate" not "overall fuss".
- garf12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4nahh Im not considering it, even if I said all good stuff they would just turn it around. I really dont want to do any damage to the page program, like I said its really a great program. Where else do you get full access to pretty much all the buildings on the hill at age 16-17.
Allready had a few ex pages speak up and the page alumni is not happy. - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Propositioning a minor (under 18), not a child, for sexual performance or enticement through interstate means, such as the internet, is a federal offense. He made the law. He broke the law. ***** him.
Had he groped the kid behind the bathroom, he would just lose his job and that would be that, but the United States Code has a provision covering this. - rancidpony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Time for dateline to do a special sting operation in DC.
