  • ChristPissed, on 12/23/2007, -5/+58These tapes have been described as the "Rosetta Stone of 9/11". CYA (Cover Your Ass) dictates that someone, somewhere has a backup stashed. Let's hope it surfaces soon. Additionally, the fact the "not so innocent" members of the 9/11 Commission are making accusations should cause one to reflect on what they are deflecting.
    In any case, a special prosecutor is needed to put under oath before a grand jury those who were present at these interrogations (either live or via said tapes) to attempt to reconstruct what was seen and heard.

  • anarcurt, on 12/23/2007, -4/+31For the CIA to destroy the tapes, in a bid to hide something, it cannot be that the Al-Qaeda ops we're denying there role in 911. It also cannot be that they admitted to doing it. Both of these situations would be expected and have no controversy. The most likely reason these tapes would be destroyed would be to hide who helped them execute the plot. Whether it be a foreign country that the administration does not want to strain relations or "GASP" our own government itself.

    As far as 9/11 goes, we need only ask what the Roman judges would: Cui bono? Who benefits? Was it the Arabs who gained nothing and were promptly bombed? Who could it have been?

Why they withheld the evidence we'll never know, but we do know that we can't take their word as to what the tapes contained. Hell, who knows what other evidence they destroyed. It's plain and simple that there's a US agency that violates US and international law, defies US authority, justice and the will of the American people, and yet it's top officials get shielded by the Whitehouse.

If you do a benefit analysis with the positives and negatives on each side, who stands to gain the most from this event, and looking 6 years down the road, who did benefit from such an event?

    I am not talking about blind belief, but just a possibility of such an instance occurring?

No one would trust US intelligence for a long time to come and it would undermine our already morally dubious and crumbling foreign policy. That's why the tapes couldn't be seen. Just like why the Abu Ghraib tapes won't be seen either.

    No 'truther' conspiracy, just you're typical illegal bureaucratic hypocritical immoral cover-up. That's all.
