- otokarev, on 08/12/2008, -59/+34192% of CNN readers Russians!!!! :-)
- inactive, on 08/12/2008, -38/+255Oooops! Mainstream media can't sell this war to the public, so they delete the poll.
- thetooon, on 08/12/2008, -28/+175Funny, but the voting is not there anymore.
Probably because it is not "truth", what CNN did expect.
Here is the last results: http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/7302/picture4ot ... - inactive, on 08/12/2008, -13/+158In Soviet Union, poll takes YOU!
- inactive, on 08/12/2008, -86/+213Imagine 92% of people looking at CNN having an ounce of common sense? Who would have thought?
The aggressors are Georgia, Israel, and America!!! - Hangly, on 08/12/2008, -21/+135Oh poop, the propaganda isn't working anymore.
- richmomz, on 08/12/2008, -26/+127Epic propaganda failure! I can't express how happy I am that the truth somehow found its way to the minds of people when CNN and other media outlets skewed their coverage against Russia. For example, most news stories state that over 2,000 people have been killed in the conflict, but neglect to mention who is to blame, leaving the reader to assume that Russia was the culprit. Only pictures of Georgian bomb damage and casualties are being shown, but there's nothing from Ossetia (which has been described as looking like Stalingrad during WWII) It looks like the main stream media is beginning to lose credibility in the eyes of its viewers, and for good reason.
- dball48, on 08/12/2008, -11/+111100% of US politicians don't give a ***** what we think.
- inactive, on 08/12/2008, -24/+117They removed it, Why am I not surprised!
- dimonicus, on 08/12/2008, -107/+192Me and my friends, the Americans, has no doubt that Russia properly protects its citizens. Georgia treacherously attacked South Ossetia. Georgia now to pay for it.
And our president, Bush, wants to get off from what helped Georgia. While everyone knows that our American planes helped to transfer Georgians from Iraq to Georgia. - inactive, on 08/12/2008, -16/+8892% of polls are *****.
- c0mputar, on 08/12/2008, -27/+94I'm impressed. As long as Russia shows restraint though... this puts out a strong message that, no matter what, bombing a civilian city into submission is not the answer. Even if Russia has played a major part in keeping Ossetia from gaining independence but not allowing them to form 100% with Georgia... we may never know, but it doesn't matter at this point. The main goal now is that Ossetia finally gets its independence, in or out of Russia, and that the russians leave Georgia, and its oil pipelines, alone, the sooner the better. Regardless, this conflict has already costed far too many lives when it could've costed none.
- solistus, on 08/13/2008, -21/+87Are Americans even _aware_ that South Ossetia has had de facto independence since its civil war almost 20 years ago, and that a very active movement within South Ossetia has been seeking Kremlin protection and eventual annexation to reunite with North Ossetia? South Ossetia had an active independence movement from at least 1988 on, never wanted the 'independence' that they were forced into with Georgia, and became de facto independent with an agreement barring the use of military force very shortly after Georgia became independent from the Soviet Union. Georgia launched an invasion, killing almost the entire (tiny) military of South Ossetia and several UN peacekeepers, along with many civilians. Russia may have been a little heavy-handed in their bombings, but framing this as a _Russian_ violation of sovereignty is a technicality that merely highlights the utter neglect the world has given South Ossetia: the UN and virtually every world government refused to recognise its independence from Georgia for fear of causing chaos in the newly independent states, and when Russia repels a violent invasion, Russia is painted as an aggressor. The media is addicted to Red Spread sensationalism.
- Hangly, on 08/13/2008, -8/+68Forget porn, the greatest thing about the internet is its ability to crush state propaganda.
- deformation, on 08/12/2008, -26/+83BBC mentioned that most of the civilian causalities are caused by Georgia not Russia.
- ShebearMasha, on 08/12/2008, -23/+7263.38% of bbc readers think georgia is guilty in the war
- skydharma, on 08/13/2008, -1/+49100% of internet polls are absolutely worthless.
- otokarev, on 08/12/2008, -2/+48For us being able to improve our English :-)
- kaskarn, on 08/12/2008, -13/+58Uh dimonicus you are from Belarus, not america. What game are you playing? Blatant bias doesn't help your case, I for one am not shedding tears on Russia. (Not so many on Georgia either actually, they played with fire and got burnt...)
- sgiffy, on 08/12/2008, -8/+49People gaming an online poll? The hell you say!
- spinchange, on 08/13/2008, -9/+49Aren't like 92% of botnets Russian also?
- finista, on 08/12/2008, -9/+44CNN=Pravda
- allout360, on 08/13/2008, -23/+57I don't know what you guys are smoking. I agree with Russia's actions. Georgia attacked what has been a break away state almost two decades! More than half of the people in South Ossetia have a Russian citizenship. They where just protecting their citizens I believe. Think of it this way. Would the US do anything if Puerto Rico was attacked by Cuba or some other country in that region?
Do a little research... - mtmtmtmt, on 08/13/2008, -3/+351. You're from Belarus.
2. The American school system has its problems, but most Americans speak better English than "Georgia now to pay for it" and "My friends has".
3. You joined Digg a few days ago - in fact, on the exact day Russia invaded Georgia.
4. So far, you have only Dugg and commented on stories related to the conflict.
To sum up, thanks for playing, but kindly, ***** off with your propaganda. Maybe send someone who is remotely competent and believable as they spout their *****. - thepoliticalcat, on 08/12/2008, -19/+49Of course 92 per cent think Russia is justified. We would be livid if Mexico formed a partnership with China or Russia, had foreign military advisors on their soil and tried to bomb Texas or California, even though they owned both before we forced them out. Besides, I think Americans are finally disgusted with the warmongering Cheney regime now that they see how much damage it has done to the Treasury, the military, and the country itself.
- ShittyPunGuy, on 08/13/2008, -7/+35It looks like people were russian to CNN.com to cast their vote!
- richmomz, on 08/12/2008, -9/+36I can't express how happy I am that the truth somehow found its way to the minds of people when the MSM did everything it could to skew this incident against Russia. For example, most news stories state that over 2,000 people have been killed in the conflict, but neglect to mention who is to blame, leaving the reader to assume that Russia was the culprit.
The fact is that most of those casualties were inflicted by Georgia's artillery bombardment of densely populated areas - which is what triggered the Russian response in the first place! People are waking up and realizing that the MSM is just a propaganda outlet like any other, and going to alternative media sources for the truth. - Kulakova, on 08/12/2008, -67/+95Of course it is.
Saakhashvilli is a murderer. When Russian parlament warned many countries about Georgian agression that could be, nobody listened them. Now, Russia is the only country which can be in charge for peace and stop the fascism in Georgia and probbaly many other countries (which by the way is being in huge economy crisis) - drmsux, on 08/13/2008, -5/+31Close. I would bet that 80% of all referers on the voting page come from Russian sites. Voting 'flash mobs' are quite popular in the Russian segment of the Internet..
- ATikhonov, on 08/12/2008, -22/+48Truth is Power! :D
- Rudegar, on 08/13/2008, -6/+31you do know that South Ossetia is not a part of russia or in a union with them right?
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -12/+37Ehm, protecting citizens of another country?
little too soviet for me..
and if they are so zeal about getting independence for South Ossetia, then how about letting Chechnya go too? - inactive, on 08/13/2008, -4/+28http://profy.com/2008/08/12/russian-bloggers-as-po ...
The poll was bogus and manipulated so they took it down.
They obviously caught on that the poll was being manipulated. - inactive, on 08/12/2008, -19/+43per NYpost: For all that US commentators and diplomats are still chattering about Russia's "response" to Georgia's actions, the Kremlin spent months planning and preparing this operation. Any soldier above the grade of private can tell you that there's absolutely no way Moscow could've launched this huge ground, air and sea offensive in an instantaneous "response" to alleged Georgian actions.
As I pointed out Saturday, even to get one armored brigade over the Caucasus Mountains required extensive preparations. Since then, Russia has sent in the equivalent of almost two divisions - not only in South Ossetia, the scene of the original fighting, but also in separatist Abkhazia on the Black Sea coast.
The Russians also managed to arrange the instant appearance of a squadron of warships to blockade Georgia. And they launched hundreds of air strikes against preplanned targets. - halliburke, on 08/13/2008, -4/+27I must say I am impressed... the number and scale of Russian diggers coming to Putin/Medvedev's defense and waging information warfare is... impressive ;)
- MikhaelB, on 08/12/2008, -7/+29Just for information: the votation form placed on middle-right part of CNN site. Unfortunately, I don't know how to capture direct link on this form.
- richmomz, on 08/12/2008, -8/+29Epic propaganda failure!
- powatom, on 08/13/2008, -2/+22Why didn't your story end after the first 'end of story'?
- yessuz, on 08/13/2008, -9/+29well, Osetia is not Russia. It's Georgia...
- ShebearMasha, on 08/13/2008, -3/+22bbc.co.uk
i thought it's obvious :) - Caffeinate, on 08/12/2008, -2/+20 Exactly. Don't be surprised, MSM, that when you continue to manipulate the public they stop believing your *****.
- jerryb123, on 07/01/2009, -0/+16I think it's clear who the ***** is here.
- KaiserArny, on 08/13/2008, -2/+18Looks like the results of the last Russian election.
- jmpeagle, on 08/13/2008, -5/+21politics is never that black and white. A country's power is derived from its monopoly on "legitimate" violence within its borders....in other words you are bound by their laws and no one else's. Every country is in a sense an agressor against its own people. Israel and America are no more aggressive than other countries....they are just more effective.
- tweedius, on 08/13/2008, -3/+19Yes, this has nothing to do with the only major oil pipeline that supplies Western Europe and parts of Turkey with oil and isn't controlled by Russia. That couldn't be it at all.
- ShellShock11, on 08/13/2008, -2/+17"I know I speak for every American when I say today we are all Georgians"

August 12th, 2008 - vbullinger, on 08/13/2008, -0/+14Honestly? I don't like ANYONE'S take in this! Everyone's lying!
The US and Israel backed Georgia, mainly because of the pipeline and to continue surrounding Iran for our inevitable invasion.
Russia is using a Sudetenland argument to _attack_ Georgia, not just protect Southern Ossetia and Abkhazia.
F- them all. No one's telling the truth and they ALL have ulterior motives. - soupdawg30, on 08/13/2008, -12/+25South Ossetia is still part of Georgia no matter how much independence they want. They are not recognized as an independent state. Russia has no right to invade Georgia.
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -10/+23both parties are too blame. no side is justified.
