- select01, on 10/23/2007, -1/+1When I look at Clinton, Obama and Edwards, I don't find all the qualities in any one of them that are going to be needed in the next administration. Nor do I with any other Democratic or Republican candidate.
Our next president will be left with a very messy war to deal with, an enormous deficit (if you count what has been spent in Iraq), a mandate to turn our country toward carbon neutrality, low standing in the international community, and many other pressing issues such as healthcare, education, security and immigration. Much of what needs to be done will be very unpopular. With our voting population split, we need to assure that one party controls the White House and the Congress to effect the necessary changes.
Only one person has the skills to attempt such a monumental undertaking and is presently in a position to step in to the race on a moment's notice. Experience, standing, a communicator, an effective campaigner, completely vetted, and tested in the trenches -- Al Gore is our man. - one0them, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I believed that human caused global warming bs until I heard that the icecaps on mars are melting, as well as the ice on one of the moons of Jupiter. Also, if we stopped making co2 tomorrow, the hockey-stick graph only shifts 5 years into the future. I think the answer to this is we develop technology to put the carbon back in the ground, carbon taxes will postpone this development (and line the big money establishment's pockets). Anyway, Al had his 8 years.
