- susantamm, on 09/14/2008, -23/+538Obviously with his bizarre VP choice, I am very concerned about McCain's health.
- bmaggiemay, on 09/14/2008, -14/+368Only 30 Doctors want his records release....30 Million Americans want the records release without conditions....Now
- blackcat24, on 09/14/2008, -32/+340Well, then, the solution is pretty simple...vote Obama.
- Sierra77, on 09/14/2008, -15/+247It's extremely important to get a clear picture of McCain's health......especially with Palin next in line!!
- Americanwhiner, on 09/14/2008, -12/+167Come on! They expect him to keel over....and then they'll have a megalomaniac "mean girl" whom they can buy as easily as a hooker. That way, the people who have been running the Republican party in the absence of a real president these past eight years, can continue on the path to total fascism. God help us if America proves so stupid as to elect this ticket. They'll be rounding up anyone that disagrees with the Rethuglicans and building death camps. Fight back. Volunteer.
- JenniferInMO, on 09/14/2008, -13/+139I am most concerned with early signs of dementia.
The fact that he is less available to the press and makes so many gaffes when in front of the press indicates that his staffers are trying to keep these indications from us. I talked to a friend who is a psychiatrist and he said that the types of gaffes and the time frames of information which he forgets is clearly consistent with early onset of dementia. He also told me that it is a big topic of discussion within his field, but that no one discusses is publically because it is not possible to diagnose someone from afar and because they need to keep politics out of their practice to be able to focus on treating their patients without their patients getting into political discussions with them.http://www.stopthinkvote.com/concern.html http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Dazed_and_Confus ... http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/McCain_suffering ... http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/McCain_offers_co ... http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/McCain_s_Battles ... http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/McCain_The_Age_I ... http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_di ...
Keeping him out of the public eye could be a sign that his people are trying to hide these concerns: http://digg.com/politics/The_No_Talk_Express http://digg.com/politics/Seth_Colter_Walls_McCain_ ...
His erratic behavior and lack of integrity is not the McCain we knew just 4 years ago. Even the people outside of the US are seeing this: http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Does_being_a_tot ... I also have concerns that McCain has refused to release his military records. That may give us insight into early mental health diagnoses and treatment, if any.
Please sign the petition. It is amazing that no one has called him on this. - mruffy, on 09/14/2008, -6/+124I have always been concerned about John McCain's mental status, and I'm not being disrespectful. Having a Masters Degree in Psychology I cannot believe that anyone who had been captured and remained a POW for 5 + years can not be without some form of PTSD.
From reports of his "bad temper" to U.S. Military officials stating it's not his temper that concerns them but rather that he becomes so unhinged that he cannot be reasoned with. - chaney92, on 09/14/2008, -17/+111I agree with blackcat24 - vote Obama, but in addition we must inform the information challenged Americans who work 4 jobs to stay afloat. Let's get the word out!
- pennsykid2000, on 09/14/2008, -9/+99Why is this not a requirement for running for office? We are supposed to vote without knowing whether a candidate has a life-threatening illness? Also, why isn't releasing one's tax returns not a requirement for running for office? Obama and Biden have done so. McCain has released his individual return but has not released his wife's records. Palin hasn't released hers at all. Did she report the per diem payments as income on that return? If not, is that the kind of "reform" we are going to see in a McCain-Palin administration--do whatever you think you can get away with?
- barbiesnow, on 09/14/2008, -3/+80Every President and Vice-President has a physical check-up once a year and the results are made known to the public. It behooves us to know before the fact and not after the health assessment, physical and mental of both candidates.
- dyannne, on 09/14/2008, -7/+71He's 72 years old. I want to know what medications he is taking. I also want to know if his memory has been evaluated and those results, because he clearly seems to have a problem with it.
- dcl4jc, on 09/14/2008, -5/+63Even the Republicans have to be a little worried. I don't think they can control McCain's folly and they are afraid they will have a rogue on there hands. They are covering butt with his medical records while they make some sort of worst case plans for the lipstick pit bull.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -1/+57McCain's health, aka The Sarah Palin Presidential Countdown Ticker.
- Americanwhiner, on 09/14/2008, -15/+71Come on! They expect him to keel over....and then they'll have a megalomaniac "mean girl" whom they can buy as easily as a hooker in Palin. You know...the one that hasn't a clue about the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes, the one who's college yearbook is a Who's Who on her government roster in Alaska, the one who would force all women to carry pregnancies to term under any conditions. That way, the people who have been running the Republican party in the absence of a real president these past eight years, can continue on the path to total fascism. God help us if America proves so stupid as to elect this ticket. They'll be rounding up anyone that disagrees with the Rethuglicans and building death camps. Fight back. Volunteer.
- andrea313, on 09/14/2008, -7/+62It truly is just more of the same as with Bush -- lie, cover up, and don't come clean with the American people. Unfortunately, it appears that at least half of the people out there are either uninformed or completely brainwashed. I love the VFW Veterans who are interviewed who say "McCain is one of us, he understands us." Do they ever look at his voting record? If he's one of "you", why is he voting against getting the right armor to the troops? John McCain skipped close to a dozen votes on Iraq, and on at least another 10 occasions, he voted against arming and equipping the troops, providing adequate rest for the troops between deployments, and against health care or other benefits for veterans. One example of Americans' idiocy. They'll believe anything the ads want to feed them.
- nanoscare, on 09/14/2008, -7/+58Did anyone else watch that special on National Service? The growth on the side of his face seems to be getting bigger all of the sudden. Why isn't the media asking questions about it?
- any1particular, on 09/14/2008, -7/+52The frightening truth is that now, McCain/Palin are not 90% of Bush, but 110% worse! This ticket is the culmination of the reactionary right's vendetta on America's values of empathy and responsibility for its families and the larger world.
ENOUGH!!
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Audio_Barack_Oba ...
Focus on genuine progressive values, not trivial bits of investigative journalism. Don't let up. We'll blow right through them. From now til Nov 4... Call states from http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/phonebankma ... and let's finish this fight. Then we can get to the real work of healing this nation and repairing this world.
1968-2008: Four decades of cultural ruin, at the bloodied hands of the reactionary right, are at an end, if we are ready to step up to the challenge.
No more whining about how a good lookin' black man is only out to steal yr wallet. Obama isn't a fake or gimmicky. He is our new leader. a man of multi racial heritage that sees a world without boundaries. Without the 'spin' of Washington. Don't fear an intelligent, articulate, reasonable, positive, soulful black man. Sometimes, he's yr only hope. - Sheavenger, on 09/14/2008, -2/+46The "Wizards of Government Waste" don't deserve to finish US off, for another four years.
We the People have sworn in 2006, to take back our country, and We the People are almost there now.
I think it's time to test our Justice Department Snitches on the Republican side, with an ammunity for testamony, like with NIXON.
I think it's time for the Republicans to put their money where their mouths are, on why they allow this President to continue with his policies. I think it's time to force the People's issues and demand answers from those who rubberstamped and voted with Bush to stop healthcare, yet, don't offer any as a Republican agenda, except privatization. When you know there is still racism and some folk(statistics prove in VA) are not given pain medications, wait for extra hours, and have inadequate quacks that push insurance and phamaceutical untested drugs and propaganda for profits.
I demand to know that after working for 30 years in this country, I as a disabled person, have to live on a 1972 budget, not adjusted for inflation. I worked double shifts in skilled and unskilled labor and careers, yet my combined social security, from the jobs, aren't given to me, in a lump some, to let me make the choice, to leave this country to seek better treatment from Canada or Mexico, because they don't allow us to direct deposit to another country of choice to retire in. If you have faced racial injustice in this country as long as I have, at least let me leave with my money, I had no choice to stop from being deducted, out my paycheck, to do what I have to do to survive.
If I'm not wanted as a black woman in this country in 2008, and have to have my vote renewed every 40 years, then let me leave where there is tolerance for me and my family.
My Grandfather, Father and Uncles have served this country, and enough is enough!
The REpublicans have never cared about the People at the bottom, and they call themselves "Christians!"
Enough!
I want solutions, or I want out with my benefits. This is one pension plan, you can't rob from me. It's my money for my time working in America. Give it to me.
Can you go to those law firms where they know your owed money and want it right now over this?
Most of my people, don't even last past 60 (AAmericans) and what happens to what's left over if they have no spouse or underage children?
Why don't they at least pay for the damn funeral, to send them off right. $255.00, out of how much left behind when I die?
This is ludicris.
This has been going on for decades. - jadex, on 09/14/2008, -6/+49Sure, One was born in Hawaii, which is a state in the USA, and the other was born in Panama, which is a country in Central America.
- Sheavenger, on 09/14/2008, -12/+50Republicans = poverty, government waste, corruption, scandals, wars, wrong wars, malfeasants, lies, corporate manipulation of laws, that hurt the people who voted them in.
Democrats = jobs, budgeting, education , healthcare, oversight, jobs programs, ingenuity, fairness, progress, balanced budget.
November 4th, tell em you mean business!
Vote Obama Biden, America's pride in DEMOCRACY. - Americanwhiner, on 09/14/2008, -6/+41Whoops..I 'm guilty of getting my facts wrong...those high-paying jobs were filled from the pages of Palin's HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOK! Sorry. Hate to give misinformation. It's just that the McPolitics of these two clowns really slays me.
- SSPink, on 09/14/2008, -3/+37You can certainly see Obama's:
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.shared/image.html ... - algaeturd, on 09/14/2008, -3/+35He's running for ***** president of the United States...he shouldn't have to be ASKED, he should have voluntarily disclosed that information as soon as he threw his hat in the ring if he didn't have anything to hide.
More secrets and lies from a party that knows nothing else.
And palin a heartbeat away...such a scary, scary ***** thought.
The girl scout leader is getting ready to lead the free world and she's less traveled than I am.
And that's not saying much. - Crimsoneer, on 09/14/2008, -3/+35He's 72. Sorry, but he could very well be the first US president assassinated by somebody bursting a paper bag.
- zantos420, on 09/14/2008, -4/+35at 72 he needs to be taking a nap; not running the country
- SandyGee, on 09/14/2008, -4/+35My brother Michael was cancer free from melanoma for 8 years after surgery. He never had any more external symptoms of skin cancer. However, showing unusal behavioral and other problems, he went in to the hospital for tests. The melanoma had spread throughout his body & brain via bloodstream. He had appeared perfectly healthy for many years, but by the time anyone thought something was wrong, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and died 5 months later. President Palin & World War III, anyone?

Obama's birth certificate (this took about 30 seconds to find on Google):

Are you going to change your vote yet? Let me guess. - dcl4jc, on 09/14/2008, -3/+33I agree with you completely and have thought the same thing myself. I am a computer engineer and I don't have the credentials to back it up. I am glad that a professional such as yourself and others have voiced this concern.
- jblen, on 09/14/2008, -4/+34I think you meant "an idiot", you idiot.
- msohio1, on 09/14/2008, -4/+33I have been hoping that someone would demand to see his medical records because of his history with cancer, as well as his post traumatic stress disorder. This is a dangerous situation.
- MorganMghee, on 09/14/2008, -3/+32exactly, barbie factory reject in the wings.
- anonblog2008, on 09/14/2008, -5/+33For the same reasons, when is Sarah Palin going to release her medical records?
- zapafrank, on 09/14/2008, -7/+34McSame's Great-Grandfather, John Sidney McCain died at age 84.
McSame's Grandfather, John S. McCain, Sr. died at age 60.
McSame's Father, John S. McCain, Jr. died at age 70.
The mean age of death is 71.3
John S. McCain III (the future 'resident of the United Snakes of Amerika is 72). - Ponzipuppet, on 09/14/2008, -6/+33Bumper sticker ideas:
McCain's Had Cancer 4x
Prez Palin?!?!
Question McCain's Judgement.
While McCain does not care about our Health Care
We all should care about the health of McCain.
John McCain
for Retirement - Rotzooi, on 09/14/2008, -3/+30Maybe McCain's cancer has returned, and he knows he only has 1 or 2 years left but wants to leave the Republican party in power since he is the only chance they have?
- richirwin, on 09/14/2008, -10/+36Healthy people have nothing to hid.
- finishline08, on 09/14/2008, -5/+30At the Presidential Debates, someone should ask him when he is going to release his records. And then demand that the public should know.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -3/+26What is false?
The story is about doctors asking to see his record, and it has the doctors' signature and request for that record. Where is the lie? The doctors don't exists? They didn't really request the health records?
It doesn't say that McCain is sick or will die. It says that a group of informed American want to see his record before voting for him, because they realize that they might be voting for Palin to be president instead. If McCain is so healthy, it would be in is best interest to release them, lest they lose the vote of Republicans that want vote for him but don't want Palin as president.
And btw, you, like many republicans, need to learn the meaning of the word "inaccurate" - john099, on 09/14/2008, -7/+30Let's here it for the Alaska state legislature! This bastion of Republicans is actually on the right track with their subpoena of Todd Palin and a slew Palin's aides involved in her clearly unethical and unscrupulous subversion her authority as governor to do her sis a favor. Why would we ever expect her to behave any differently if we allow her even more power?
INDICT PALIN NOW!
INDICT PALIN NOW!
INDICT PALIN NOW! - john099, on 09/14/2008, -6/+29McShame as president is a scary prospect for anyone not rich and in tip-top health, but the not-so-remote possibility of President Palin is absolutely TERRIFYING!
Want to race backward into earlier centuries at the speed of light? Vote McShame.
And should we end up with Palin at the helm, I suppose she'll give those of us in the LGBT community lessons on how to “pray” our way to “normality”. If that creature is normal, my God am I proud to be a freak! McShame & Palin can rest assured that self-respecting, awake gays and lesbian are indeed praying, but not to meet Palin's twisted definition of “normal”, rather to see her and her shameful running mate crash and burn. - therealmarie, on 09/14/2008, -0/+22This is extremely important to know especially with Palin as his pick. this issue needs to be pushed hard. We as Americans need to know.
- Bith8654, on 09/14/2008, -5/+27Quad, you do nothing but hurt your own cause.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -4/+26His medical records s/b be public & his complete Navy record!
- lamejoketeller, on 09/14/2008, -4/+26"There's a 66% chance of it recurring in the next 10 years. 8 years have already passed."
They say that like that means it's incredibly likely to come back in the next 2 years, but doesn't that really mean it's less likely to come back since 8 years of that possibility have already passed without that happening?
I dunno, this video makes a really good point about transparency in government but you can't deny that there is at least a little spin.
That being said, RELEASE YOUR RECORDS TO THE PUBLIC, JOHN. CAPS LOCK FOR EMPHASIS. - Oea420, on 09/14/2008, -1/+22As someone who works with people that have dementia every day (I work in an assisted living facility.. most of our residents suffer from some form of dementia.. a lot of ALS and lewy bodies) I can see the little quirks in John McCain that I've become so familiar with.
Your friend is absolutely right, it's not possible to diagnose anything from afar.. but I'd be very worried if the man was in charge of my country. Dementia can manifest itself in so many quirky ways, who knows what could be going on in his head. I have seen some of the craziest things working the elderly, and particularly those that suffer from dementia. It's very interesting how some (not everyone gets dementia) people quite literally revert, slowly becoming more 'kid-like' in so many ways..ie expressing complex emotions by throwing fits. Some of them quite literally lose sync with the natural 'clock', unable to tell what time of day it is anymore.
Then you have your sundowners... I have no idea what goes on, but there's a subset of the dementia population that when the sun goes down, they get extra crazy. From being aggressive, to paranoid, to withdrawn.. it's such an interesting problem.. and so sad. You talk to family members, or look at pictures.. of their old lives... These were intelligent people, men who served in World War 2.. Women who's sons went on to work at NASA during the space race.... living history, that is all simply deteriorated.. such a complex and sad problem, but very real..
sorry for the rant - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -2/+22@QuadZeroRoute : Pwned. Again.
- Cherokeebandit, on 09/14/2008, -2/+22Being a Masters student in Gerontology, The Study of Aging, McSame definitely is showing some signs of dementia at a relatively young age. I too would like to see what his medical records show, especially PTSD from his time of internment as a POW. If he has NOT shown any symptoms I might have to call his Drs. "Liars". Of course, they, the Repugnicans, will save it's a matter of Nat'l. Security. To He** with Nat'l. Security, we the American public have every right to question his health.
WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF? - zeptobyte, on 09/14/2008, -2/+21@OriginalLucid1
Because he wasn't 72 years old with a history of serious medical problems. - cadmiumpaint, on 09/14/2008, -1/+20When you run for public office especially the president you're rights to privacy go out the window. You're entire life is under the public eye. If you don't like that then don't run.
Voters have the right to know about who they are voting for as well as if that person is healthy enough to make decisions and serve out their term in office.
McCain is the oldest candidate to run for office. His health is a very important factor. - iguana99, on 09/14/2008, -0/+18If you believed he would be a great president, you might want him for as many years as you could get; and if he'd chosen a great running mate, we wouldn't be as worried about him dying. But these things speak for themselves.
Furthermore, he confuses facts and seems to have a short memory for his own statements. Whether that's due to dementia or not is irrelevant - it only matters that, ultimately, he's unreliable. However, if he were hiding something truly horrible, if he were prone to psychotic episodes or something wacky like that, it would be unconscionable for his doctors to keep quiet: his position would make him a clear danger to others. Short of something like that, however, it's up to him.
He doesn't want people to have a close look at his medical records - that's his choice, and it's fair for us to make the inference that he doesn't want people to critique his health too closely because there are potentially non-reassuring things there. We can draw rational conclusions from these facts. If that sways your vote, fair enough. -
